You anxiously sat down on the small couch, picking at your cuticles as you waited. 

“Are you nervous?” He asked, giving you a calming smile. 

“A little. Sorry, I’ve never done this before.” 

“It’s completely normal to be nervous during the first session, especially if you’ve never done anything like this before.” That calmed your nerves a little. “Let’s start simple. Why don’t you tell me why you’re here.” 

“Um… The fears that I have are getting a little out of control and affecting my everyday life, so I was hoping you could help me get over them. At least a little bit.” 

“Knowing you need help and taking the initiative to seek that help is already a really good start.” You gave him a shy smile at the praise, not sure how to respond. “Since this is a consultation, I’d like to know what fears you need help overcoming so I can figure out the best treatment for you. Is that alright?” 

“Yeah, of course. There are two main ones. Um… being- being raped and being pregnant or giving birth.” He scribbled quickly as you spoke and you waited anxiously for him to respond. 

“I want to better understand you. Is it alright if I ask some questions?” He asked, crossing his hands and resting them on the notebook in his lap. 

“Yes.” 

“Is there any past trauma that might’ve caused these fears?” You shook your head. “Let’s just focus on the first one for now. What do you think might be the cause?” 

“I guess just knowing how common it is? I feel like I’m living every single day just waiting to become part of the statistic.” 

“That must be pretty debilitating feeling that way. Is that stopping you from doing a lot of the things your peers do?” You just nodded in response. “And what about the other one? How is that affecting your everyday life?” 

“Um…” You bit your lip as your cheeks grew warm, realizing what you would have to explain to answer his question. “It’s- I don’t…” Looking away from him, you swallowed thickly. 

“There’s no need to be embarrassed. I’m here to help you, but you have to help me understand before I can do that.” You nodded in agreement, trying to force yourself to just say it. 

“I'm on birth control, but I still don’t feel like I can rely on that completely. And when boyfriends or whatever find out, they usually want to- to…”

“Not use a condom?” 

“Yes.” 

“But you don’t feel safe doing that?” You shook your head as you bit your bottom lip. “So it’s affecting your relationships. Is it affecting you individually as well?” 

“Well I mean, I… want to do that with them too.” 

“You have a breeding kink?” You stared at him with wide eyes, floundering for a response. He was unfazed by the inappropriate question though. 

“I wasn’t going to say it like that, but yeah.” 

“Kinks can often be coping mechanisms. Do you have any other that could be related?”

Thank you for being so open with me, I know it’s not easy talking about something so personal.” You nodded, not sure what to say. “We can start regular therapy but in the meantime I can prescribe you some medication for the anxiety.”

“Oh I don’t- I don’t know if I want to take medication.” He passed the pen over the paper in one stroke, striking something out. 

“The old fashion way then.” He smiled and you chuckled awkwardly, wondering if you messed up by saying that. It didn’t seem like you did? Maybe you should just agree since he thinks it’ll help? He cut off your over thinking before you had the chance to say you changed your mind. “Do you think once a week will be a good start?” 

“That sounds perfect.”

Theory About Baby Beetlejuice 🍼👶🧷🩸

Warning: This post contains SPOILERS for ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ (2024) and many speculations.

A few months ago, Tim Burton introduced some new additions to the Beetlejuice universe: one of the new characters is a bizarre, monster infant, officially named 'Baby Beetlejuice'. He definitely made a shocking first impression around the world.

He is supposed to be nothing more than an illusion, a twisted joke conjured by Beetlejuice. In this article, the birthing scene is explained as a tribute to Geena Davis' performance in 'The Fly' (1986). Additionally, this fellow theorist's post (moonsceptre) pointed out that Baby Beetlejuice looks and acts very similarly to the monster baby in the film 'It's Alive!' (1974). So, all things considered, it would be easy to dismiss the demon baby as a quirky little easter egg and nothing more.

Yet... the same baby reappears in Lydia’s dreams at the very end of the movie. Usually, recurring elements in filmmaking are called motif, and may serve several purposes to the storytelling. This raises a question: does Baby Beetlejuice actually represent something more?

I’m not sure! But let’s dive in and see if we can make sense of it all. ✨

First, a recap. During its first appearance, Lydia ‘gives birth’ to Baby Beetlejuice after a magical, immaculate pregnancy that lasts about 15 seconds. The ‘father’ takes one quick look at the baby and unceremoniously kicks him across the room. As if that wasn’t crazy enough, Baby Beetlejuice immediately crawls back to Lydia and latches onto her legs, biting her thighs repeatedly as she desperately tries to shake him off.

Then, Baby Beetlejuice appears again in a dream - a dimension linked to the subconscious mind. This time, he’s born in a hospital, and his mother is Astrid, Lydia’s daughter. The little devil immediately starts killing the nurses, biting them to death. He even crawls onto the ceiling to chase and eat a fly. Finally, he plops onto Astrid’s lap, already calling her ‘mama.’

What can be the meaning behind all this?

My short Answer: Lydia's anxiety and hopes for a mysterious future.

Long Answer: In 'The Fly', Veronica witnesses her partner slowly change both physically and mentally - in an alarming, mysterious way. Later on, as she learn that she's pregnant with his baby, she has a nightmare about giving birth to a monstrous creature.

In a similar way, I believe that Baby Beetlejuice may embodies all the anxiety and negativity that Lydia associates with the ability to see and communicate with ghosts - a gift she unintentionally passed on to her daughter. A gift that can potentially destroy both of their lives. This is why Lydia tried so hard to keep Astrid safe and distant from her spirit work, for as long as she could. However, at the end of Beetlejuice 2 she realizes she can’t protect Astrid anymore, because ghosts are naturally drawn to those with the gift. Therefore, Lydia wishes for a better life for her daughter... and for herself as well.

This theory is supported by some dream decoder's websites, as well as this weirdly specific article:

Apparently, different dream experts agree that “dreaming about giving birth to a monster” is quite common and often has nothing to do with actually having a baby.

(although it can sometimes be associated with the actual fear of childbirth/being pregnant/becoming a mother, sometimes referred to as 'tokophobia')

In dreams, this scenario often reflects fears about the outcome of a situation, decision or project, and even the desire to explore an alternative way of life. The monster itself typically embodies change, worries, and repressed feelings, but also the possibility of new beginnings. In real life, it can be interpreted as a useful and even positive vision.

Hyperspace might be the perfect time to get things done- but to Crosshair, it's dreadfully boring.

The ship sails through the stars with a monotonous hum, putting anyone of a less overactive mind to sleep a long time ago. Wrecker is snoring away, a forearm over his eyes. Hunter isn't asleep, but he's relaxing, as is Tech. Which means more so that he's tinkering on a personal project, instead of needed repairs. Echo is resting his eyes- Crosshair can tell by the rhythm of his chest he isn't asleep.

You're nowhere to be seen however, though it's obvious where you are, as he looks to his right towards the cockpit.

He can see the top of your head in the co-pilot's seat, as your head is clearly leaned onto your left shoulder. You must've fallen asleep, as you don't move at all in the few seconds he looks. Getting up off the storage crate he was relaxing on, crosshair makes his way closer until he steps between the seats, and looks down on you.

And Omega, as he quickly notices.

She's sitting sideways in your lap, and you have her loosely supported with one arm over her knees and the other behind her back. Her cheek is smushed against your arm, and the both of you are completely asleep.

It's... Endearing. Crosshair hasn't really seen you this relaxed in, well, he can't exactly remember. Life hasn't been easy, since everything. The two of you have seemed to go with the flow perfectly so far, even after everything that's been thrown at everyone so far. Especially you; As while they were all used to the chaos, you weren't.

He slowly lowers himself into the pilot's seat, trying not to make a sound. But just as he finally settles, he notices your head shift. Not long after, you open your eyes. They almost instantly settle on him, looking over his body as he sits ankle over thigh in the seat. You swallow your mouth dry, blurry sight focusing.

"How long was I asleep?" He glances to you out of the corner of his eyes.

"Don't worry about it." He hears you softly exhale. "I wasn't asking because I wanted to get up."

Omega remains asleep even through your quiet talking, establishing that she's clearly a heavier sleeper than you. But even if Crosshair still doesn't speak up again for awhile, watching the stars streak by the viewport. When he glances back over to the two of you, he notices the way you're brushing a piece of Omega's hair out of her face.

The two of you have been stuck like glue since first meeting, and even someone far denser than Crosshair wouldn't have much trouble seeing it. He can't really put a word to how the sight makes him feel. It's not bad, not in the slightest. It makes his chest hurt in a similar way it did when he would watch the cities bustle with life while they were locked away for later use in clone bases.

Longing?

"You're good with her." He mumbles, jerking his head your way. You shrug your shoulders.

"Hard not to be. She's a good kid."

He doesn't exactly have much of a gauge of what makes a 'good kid'. All he's even spoken to was clone cadets, neck deep in training.

But you look so, natural with her. Omega seems to be so comfortable with you, and maybe in a way, she sees you as a parent. She seems to think that way about Hunter, Echo too; He kind of wonders how she views him.

She almost always views the two of you as a unit, as even in a small ship you and Crosshair are rarely apart. Does she view him the same as you?

He never even thought he'd get the chance to even think about those sorts of things, until he met you. But even then, he never wanted them. Kriff, if it hadn't messed with the early clone tests brains so much, the Kaminoans would've made sure they'd never have the chance. But would he even be able? He went from test tube to battlefield, how can that raise a kid?

But for all of his rough and gruff, he wouldn't mind giving it a shot with you. You'd help him in the spots that need work. He'd help with yours, even if he doesn't think there is any. If Omega is any indicator, you'd be the perfect parent.

How'd he get so stupidly lucky? This all feels like a dream sometimes. He feels like having a child with you would be like rolling the dice yet again and risking losing every good thing he's manage to win. But gods, does he want it.

"Crosshair?" He looks up, and sees you staring at him. Your eyebrows are raised, almost suspicious.

"You good? You look lost." He doesn't respond, instead looking away from a moment. He's trying to think of a way to word his thoughts, but Omega stirs before he has the chance. He probably wouldn't be able to word them in any way that made sense, anyhow.

"Hmm?" She rubs her one eye, looking up at you before turning awkwardly to see Crosshair. He wasn't there when she'd fallen asleep.

"How long was I asleep?" You respond as Crosshair moves to stand. "Not that long. I just woke up too."

Standing right beside your seat he lays an arm on the headrest, leaning downward. He can see all the little imperfections on your face, as you look at up at him and habitually smile. He'll never get over how it seems like the sight of him makes you happier. He feels the same, even if he doesn't show it in the same way.

"Should get out of that seat before you ruin your back." It's true; The way you've been tucked in is horribly uncomfortable, but you aren't going to abandon it right at this moment.

After talking Crosshair leans down just a bit farther, enough to steal a kiss. His lips are nice and warm against yours; Soft, gentle pressure as his nose brushes against your cheek. Afterwards he plops a hand on Omega's head, ruffling her hair before running it down her face and squishing it as she lets out an irritated noise, slapping it away.

He hears the two of you quietly snicker as he walks out of the cockpit, moving to sit on his bunk and take off his boots. The two of you are mumbling about something, and he hears his name mentioned once or twice. He can't help but take another glance and see what the two of you are up to, and while he won't join, he'll enjoy the sound.

Maybe once this is all over, Crosshair can finally enjoy the pitter patter of small feet he always heard the holo-dramas talk about himself.

im a trans guy and i have severe dysphoria and tokophobia (fear of pregnancy).

my dysphoria is really bad and i pretty much just disconnect from my body to cope. when i become aware of my body i start crying.

my tokophobia is fucking up my life. im abstaining sex until i fully transition but im still terrified.

last year someone, trans no less, told me that i should have children before transitioning and that if i dont i have to get egg cells preserved. removing eggs is an extremely invasive procedure and because of my intersex variation would be agony. this same variation means i cant have vaginal sex and childbirth would make me bleed out and die.

ever since then ive been terrified of getting pregnant. (my chronic fear of sexual assault plays into this).

im an extremely horny man and my dysphoria makes it hard to masturbate. sometimes i feel like crying because of it. one of my major goals is to use a fleshlight, which might seem silly but its a big deal to me.

i would literally rather die than have sex without a dick. i dont know how to live until i get top surgery and phalloplasty. no one i know has any ideas how to help me.

i have a very vivid internal world in my mind which is the only way i know to cope. its my way of getting a little bit of my own body, instead of this prison on the outside. i spend hours everyday in the innerworld. i need a method of coping that doesn't have me in bed 8 hours during the day.
