I really enjoyed a lot about Taash's personal quest, it was one of the quests that made me cry. But I wish there was a way to have Taash embrace being multicultural like you can at the beginning of their quest. Being from multiple cultures shouldn't mean you have to choose either or. I wish you weren't forced to have them choose like that.

#Also. Obviously a lot of what they did. Especially with the antaam was racist. Really racist. But I think being raised #Following the teachings of the qun while not being in it and still considering yourself Qunari (as in culture not race) is really #interesting actually. Gosh I love small fandoms where everyone is equally insane and everyone's just making references to the source material.

i do keep trying to write something meaningful about taash's storyline but i always get stumped when i try to talk about the conclusion because it's so insane. "hey btw my mother just died protecting me. she was an immigrant whose culture was deeply important to her which caused conflict between us because i left the country too young for it to have much significance to me. she would probably want me to do something with her body in a way that honoured the culture she most closely identified with. however i (the writer using my dragon age character as a mouthpiece) personally think that this culture is inferior regressive less nice to trans people so i feel icky about it :( should i just honour her in accordance to the culture that i feel is better personally because they (the three characters we see) respect my pronouns?" like. to be clear this is absolutely something the most out of touch person you know would say in the vent channel of a discord server. but i don't want to be rewarded with an armour for participating in it.

Still so iconic of Matt fraction to start his run like anyways off screen Clint and Kate who have met a few times before this run have become besties and are fundamentally now intertwined characters. Like and that’s just canon now. I think more comic writers should be willing to kinda just decide a new status quo like that especially with characters that have been under utilized

#and now it’s part of their characters that would seem really weird if changed #like they were on okay terms Clint and Kate were like we can both be Hawkeye that’s cool #but like that was it really unless I’ve misremembered #idk it’s just something I think about alot and like #that’s the fun of comics sometimes a run comes out of nowhere with new stuff that comes to define a character #it’s cool to see the medium like change and move and like be alive #having characters that get passed around to different writers over like decades and like almost a hundred year is so cool #and something you don’t see really that much out side of comics #like old folklore story cycles yes but like modern stuff #though with the obsessions with reboots that is changing but it’s still different #I’m just obsessed with that sort of shared cultural story telling I guess it #sound be surprising in retrospect I was obsessrd with comic books folklore mythology and fairytales as a kid #bc in a way they are the same #that’s all #maybe when I’m not taking a break getting distracted from writing a paper I’ll come back to these thoughts #and put them together in a more coherent way or expand on it more #but who knows man I feel like that doesn’t really happen but also I e been in law school hell for 3 years maybe things will change once #I graduate #anyways gotta go write #Hawkeye #hawkeye squared #kate bishop #clint barton #marvel #sometimes I feel bad about tagging my like stream of consciousness thoughts but also I want my blog to be functional for me to be able to #find stuff and like I tell myself people can scroll past it or use the block button fi I annoy them

i desperately wish gw2 had more food-centric lore. i think about asura food more than is probably particularly reasonable. they're sort of implied to like molecular gastronomy in the lvl500 chef quests which is fitting and makes sense, but surely not every asura is eating bespoke Pea Spheres day in and day out right? i think my favorite angle on them is a sort of 50s-80s american-esque food style where there's a huge emphasis on things being Convenient and Scientific, so you'd get a lot of absolute slop tv dinners and canned items that have labels boasting how they were nutritionally fortified and contained your day's complete vitamin intakes and so on. a lot of jellied things. i do also fully believe they would have + eat soylent.
