Hello hello! This is a super late ask as the day draws to a close (where I am), but just dropping in to ask you: do you have any little headcanons about your version of the Reyes fam that you haven't mentioned in a fic? I absolutely adore their chaos 💜

Ooooh thank you for asking about them!

I think most of my head canons have made it into fic so far, but here are a few that might not be as obvious.

Teresa (Carlos' oldest sister) liked her now husband for YEARS before he finally took a hint and asked her out. I think they were probably a girl/boy next door situation and there was a point where he dated someone else and she got pretty upset about it.

Lucía is the scatterbrain of the family. She's always the last to find out what's going on, loses her keys at every family get-together, runs out of gas in the car, etc.

And just in general they were all chaos monsters when they were children. So many ranch based shenanigans, pranks on each other, epic grudges that are still held.

Oh, and as mentioned in Tangled In the Christmas Lights, they CANNOT play board games together. It's bedlam. Fighting, yelling, accusations of cheating, sometimes it gets physical (but only in that fun sort of sibling way, no actual harm) and all the spouses/girlfriends/boyfriends know to stay out of it, lest they get caught in the crossfire.

In the spirit of Jason getting a golden retriever boyfriend (Roy doesn’t count, he’s a ginger raccoon) have some headcanons about the batfamily slowly absorbing him into the clique:

Jaime thinks Dick and Tim are the same person so he’s under the impression Jason has only one brother

Jason thinks that’s hilarious and doesn’t correct him at all

Thought Bruce was Jason’s brother too and Bruce loved him like his child ever since

Damian loves Jaime so much? It’s actually pretty hilarious. “Damian, can you grab me a coffee?” “Can, yes. Will I? No.”

“Hey little dude can you bring me —“ “I will kill for you, Reyes.””…Thank you?” “Please ask me to kill for you.”

“I’m going over to Jaime’s.” Damian’s limbs lock around Jason’s legs. “WE are going.”

Steph texts him the most random shit at like 2 in the morning and doesn’t elaborate. “got stabbed behind a Taco Bell lol” “?????????” “do u want a nightwing supreme “

DUKE AND JAIME BONDING!!! they love making fun of Jason’s tough guy persona and pull pranks on Bruce together.

If Jason and Jaime have an argument, Dick WILL show up at his dorm’s door with the biggest puppy eyes in the world. “Please don’t make me beat you up. You have the softest baby face in the world. It’s freaky.”

Bruce pays his student loans out of the blue and Jaime has no idea how to function with that.

TK is holding an intervention for his dad? Carlos is there too (even though he isn’t a member of the team)

Oh, Mateo’s hit his head on a coffee table and is dreaming up an alternate universe where he’s in a sitcom? Oh yeah TK and Carlos are work partners there (even though in this universe, TK isn’t a cop)

The Reyes Family playing such a positive and pivotal role in Blue Beetle brought such an amazing and much needed dynamic to the superhero entertainment genre. After having so many superhero movies and shows that focus on the hero protagonist maintaining secret identity, watching Jaime's family impact him throughout his journey in the movie was so refreshing whether it was a serious moment, emotional moment or comical moment. And it was because of how much effort Angel Manuel Soto put into making the viewer feel their impact on Jaime throughout the movie. There's never a moment where any of the Reyes Family members felt left behind. Each and every one of them had their own special moment with Jaime that made Jaime a much better hero and person by the end of the movie. The payoff in the end of Blue Beetle wasn't just Jaime accepting that he has to Blue Beetle or finally having his "hero" moment in the final act of the film, it was how much love and motivation he received his family that helped him finally become the Blue Beetle like he needed to -- for himself, his family and most importantly, Palmera City. The Reyes Family truly were the heart of Blue Beetle. If you can't tell by this post, by the way, I absolutely adored Blue Beetle wholeheartedly.

What's your most basic ship and what is your rarepair/crackship (if you have any)

At the likelihood of peeving off the Arrowfans, my most basic OTP would be Jayroy because they kinda give "I found them in the trash" except they both think they found the other. I have drafts saved for them but I haven't been able to complete anything (yet!).

My rarest one (I posted about them a few times in the past) would be Bart Allen and Jaime Reyes from the Young Justice TV show. Its popularity tapered after season 2 and I haven't been as engaged just because of time/energy, but it's still fun to explore different AUs with them since it's easier than working with big casts like the batfam.

My crackship is Billy Batson and Colin Wilkes. I made a brief mention in a fic years back but I just love to imagine the comedic potential.

He is the middle child

He had inherited Derek's brooding face

Also uses color coded highlighters and string for his assignments

He is jealous of his werewolf siblings but loves them all very much

Stiles and Miguel are more close with each other

Ben and Miguel help out their dad (from the distance) with his cases

Him and Claudia have twin telepathy and can sense what the other is feeling

He's not the greatest lacrosse player, but he loves doing it anyway

He loves it when his family comes to see him play and when his twin cheers for him

His siblings cover him a lot (I mean A LOT) since he gets in trouble (A LOT)

He is closest to Stiles and Claudia
