Hi,

I’m not sure what an emoji anon is so if you could explain that would be wonderful 😊

It’s past midnight when Mateo climbs into bed alongside you. The scent of fire still clings to his skin, conjuring images of woodsmoke and pine needles as he wraps his arm around your body, drawing you close.

“I’m sorry I missed date night.” He whispers, his nose trailing along the curve of your throat. “I wanted to make it it’s just my shift overran-”

“It’s fine.” You mumble half asleep, threading your fingers through his before you draw his hand up to the place where your heart resides. The motion draws him closer, tucking you against his body and he knows that all is forgiven as he curls around you.

“You still love me right?” He whispers into your ear because he worries sometimes that the job is too much, that he might be too much.

“To the moon and to Saturn.” You say, your lips brushing over his knuckles, grazing over the space where his wedding ring rests. “That’s what we promised right?”

“Yea.” He whispers, smiling against your skin as he remembers your vows. “All the way to the moon and to Saturn.”

Seven Sentence Sunday and Inspiration Weekend

Heard we were doing both today! I’ve never done inspo weekend before so hope I’m doing it right? Anyway this is from the next chapter of “Wooden floors and little feet”! Thanks for the tags @heartstringsduet!

It was a quiet morning when Mateo creeped into the kitchen, footsteps light as to not wake Nancy. Sure she was a deep sleeper but he couldn’t take the chance.

The firefighter had felt horrible when just two weeks ago Nancy had confessed that she missed him, the two barely seeing one another between his extra shifts. She had also been quite annoyed lately as she had finally passed her due date and was at 41 weeks. Jelly Bean had decided to stay just a bit longer than planned.

Mateo decided that a date day was due for the two of them, something that wouldn’t be too strenuous on Nancy but also would lessen the stress she’s been feeling and would allow them to just hang out. Of course a proper start to the day would be a hearty breakfast but there was just one problem.

Mateo wasn’t that great at cooking.
