So You Wanna See an Evolution Party?

[Inspired by @monsoon-of-art's Pokerus AU]

The second they’d returned with Lady Lilligant, Akari had basically Extremespeed’d to the supply tent, leaving everyone else in the dust. Rei helped Arezu get her Noble to medbay, grumbling about Dewotts and priorities. Honestly, he didn’t see what the big deal was with this whole “evolution party” anyways.

Honestly, he’d rather rest up and heal. This whole thing was just… a lot to deal with. A whole lot to deal with. And being around the Dewott may only make things worse.

Akari was zipping around the supply hall, going back-and-forth to try and gather the supplies needed for the party. It was astonishing one hadn’t been planned yet, but there was a crisis afoot. That and these weren’t their natural forms, but. That’s no reason to cheat someone out of one of the most important days of their life!

“So...what’s the plan for when we get this all fixed?” Eh? Fixed? Wott? “Honestly? Mainly getting rid of all these adaptations, and getting rationing reset.”

Hearing all this caused the Water-type to screech to a halt before she stumbled over another’s words. They weren’t seriously talking about...

“Heh, well. I’d kill to have arms again, if you ask me. Sucks that I have to ask for so much help.”

“Legends, that has to suck. I’m just glad I still have mine...” As the pair laughed and walked along, neither deigned to notice the slack-jawed Explorer. And, if she was of a clearer mind, she’d be thankful for that. But as it was, she had only one thing in her mind.

‘Legends, why didn’t I think of that...’

Rei grunted, working his forelegarm a bit. One good thing about these changes, Potions were far more useful. And if Akari was anything to go by, this wasn’t that bad a fate - Jubilife was adapting enough before she showed up, but once the Dewott had shown that life as a Pokemon didn’t have to be uncivilized things picked up pace. 

On his way out, he passed by a Sliggoo’s bed, where the Rock-type Noble helped remove some shards of stone from his Warden’s goopy body. A small chuckle escaped the Raichu’s lips - another training accident, no doubt. The pair had been sparring a fair bit after both had gotten back to health, and he’d heard even Sabi was joining in. It made sense - while Sliggoo were blind, Goodra could see. Best to get that back sooner than later, even if they don’t know how long they’ll... be like this...

Eyes slowly went wide as implications went thru his head. Sweet Groudon, was that why?

“OOF! Sorry about that Rei...”

“I-it’s alright, I wasn’t watching where I was going.” The duo slowly stood up, avoiding eye contact with the other.

Dust drifted upwards as paws shuffled. “So, umm... W-we don’t have to do the party.”

“I’m not sure where we cou-wait, what?” Embarrassment forgotten, the Electric-type’s eyes darted to look at the Mareepish Dewott.

“Y-yeah, I...I kinda was getting all into it, and forgot you guys. May not be staying this way.”

“I...umm. I actually realized that...”

“Wait, what?”

A small nod from the ‘chu. “Yeah, I...I know we want to go back to being human, but we don’t know how we’d do it... or when. So I guess indulging in something like an evolution party might not be that bad, especially if we...you know.”

“O-oh... I see.” Silence reigned over the pair, a small wind stirring up the dust and grass. “So, umm...”

“My apologies, but I require you to change tracks and connect with mine immediately.”

Confusion gave way to shock as the pair were gripped by the scruffs of their necks, dragged along by red claws. Eyes turned to their captor - an Express Master by the name of Emmett, smile wider and tenser than ever before. Akari took the initiative. “Umm, Emmet? What’s going on?”

“I have been informed that my brother and fellow Express Master, Ingo, was in one of the Mystery Dungeons when it formed.” Rei’s eyes widened at the name.

“Wait, you know Warden Ingo?”

“That is a matter of discussion for another station. For now, I am lifting my embargo on Dungeon exploration to proceed on this new track I have found.”

“But-”

“No buts. We are proceeding apace. As my brother would say, ALL ABOARD!!!”

Rattling ears shook out any sense of control the younger Explorers may have had. They were heading for the Coronet Highlands...

Whether they liked it or not.

So I went to my school's christmas concert yesterday and there's this band that got a lead vocalist that looks too much like Leona and it fucked me over so bad I couldn't stop myself from making this

Bruce & Talon!Dick age swap

Okay so I saw a post about Bruce getting taken by the Court of Owls after his parents death to be Talonized and I raise you this. (it's only half fleshed out please do tell me your takes)

The Waynes are royalty in Gotham -- even if they haven't been part of the Court for a few generations. The Owls whisk away Bruce, not trying to talonize him -- they are arguing between themselves for custody. For regency of the kingdom, by raising the future king. This Wayne will be the next Grandmaster of the Court, they'll make sure of it. (should we get rid of the butler?)

9 years old Bruce Wayne is curled up in a corner, watching this, silent, still in shock. Something plop in front of him: Joe Chill's head.

The Owls get silent, and watch the Talon get on its knees in front of the young prince, who's still petrified. (Who ordered Talon to go get the Waynes' murderer? Not me. No one? Did it decide on its own? Its talonization is only halfway from completed. It's an interesting result though. Kneeling in front of the princeling, huh? It understood his place well. I don't think this initiative deserve punishment. Yes, good job Talon, the Court of Owls has now avenged the Waynes-)

Talon doesn't turn toward the Owls, its eyes are fixated on little Bruce, still curled up frozen. Slowly, Talon spread its blood-stained hands, tentatively opening its arms. Bruce's eyes widen, and there's a raging storm of emotions in those shiny blue eyes.

Gently, Talon place its hands behind Bruce's back and head and attract him on its lap, burying the boy's head in its stomach. Its movement are awkward, it is acting on instinct from memories it can't quite grasp, but it thinks this is how it is supposed to do it-

And then little hands curl into fist in the fabric of its uniform, and the boy's body starts shaking, and for the first time, little Bruce falls apart in loud, keening sobs, while Talon studiously rub little circles in his hair with the tips of its fingers.

Rory has been trending a little bun-obsessed lately, probably because we have lots of bunnies in our condo complex and she has to practice a lot of impulse control as she can't chase or really fixate on them, so I've been looking for ways to help her fulfill her bunny-murder urges safely.

Unfortunately we don't have a ton of areas I comfortable coursing her (letting her chase buns until she can't see them or catches them) because our bunnies are mostly urban animals BUT I was at the bougie pet store for unrelated reasons and they had dried rabbit feets which gave me an idea!

I bought a few and got some paper bags and put Rory in another room while I hid them around the apartment to sniff out, destroy, and eat. I figured it would satisfy some of her murder urges, even if it's not the whole predation sequence.

She was pretty happy about it! I'll try to add this to our rotation of enrichment activities and maybe get a few rabbit feet to chuck at her outdoors sometimes. Hopefully it'll help vent those bunny frustrations so they don't build up and hurt my good dog behaviours.

Kaeya had always been an efficient and hard-working individual (he had to be to support Diluc in the background as his brother rose thru the ranks after all).

He has so much free time because he completes all his work way ahead of schedule. And if he still has enough time, he adds more to the workload in secret.

And once all of that was done and over with, he makes time for everyone. He has to. He feels as if every moment has to be given to someone else.

No one knows how he does it. No one has to know.

Every mission has a dozen strategies in line, and every battle plan is made with efficiency in mind. His perfect record will not be tarnished. He can't risk it (even if it baffles others that he would willingly activate a ruin guard just to prevent a failed mission. Jean disagrees with his methods, but Kaeya can say that the results say otherwise)

He needs to be quick.

Efficient.

Perfect.

And so he comes and goes like the wind.

Kaeya values time because he knew every second counted. He can't just stand there as if he were frozen. Time could run out in an instant.

Kaeya had only been late once his entire life.

He'd rather he never be late ever again.

It took one day of being of being imperfect for everything to fall apart. On that tragic day...had he gotten there on time... then maybe...

" Come on, let's get moving, traveler. We're not frozen in place after all. " Kaeya teasingly says. He stiffles a giggle at the traveler's exhasperated sigh.

"Yeah yeah, we've heard enough of you calling us a slacker. Can't you be a bit more patient?" Paimon whines at him.

Kaeya snorts, but acquiesces, hiding the shaking of his hands at the thought of being idle.

He imagines hearing a clock ticking.

Kaeya knows that that is his own problem. He tries his hardest to relax as he waits for the traveler to finish whatever they're making on the alchemy table because, seriously, it is supposed to be a relaxing day. There's nothing major going on, and his schedule is once again empty as intended. What's the hurry?

Kaeya taps his foot on the ground as he waits. He wishes he could take his own damn advice when he tells others to relax.

ive been replaying kh1 (going thru the whole series on steam since i never got the chance to play all the games) and i was struck by something a bit odd. i have been dyinggg to talk about it

it's about kairi and her past.

i don't think she's a replica or construct necessarily

but in kh2 there's a parallel drawn between her and sally in halloween town; and the same i think could be true in kh1.

sally is a Frankenstein monster/doll made by the doctor. the entire plot of Halloween town centers around the need for the dr to make a "heart" which requires memories from Sally (the scene of her picking the forget me nots looks a lot like kairi holding a flower for aqua too)

sora takes interest in the project to restore a heart to the heartless too because of his desire to restore Kairi's heart.

i havent really come up with a coherent thought about what this means.

but given that we know kairi was experimented on in a way that involved her heart, it just seems suspicious that this parallel was made twice to her and a doll that was stitched together and animated by a mad scientist.

shes also compared to chirithy in kh3, which from my understanding were created by MoM for keyblade weilders; and to Pooh, who is a toy/story book character that came to life

given too that Kairi already has a weird thing going on with her heart, it just seems possible that theres something..more to it that i have yet to piece together. and its driving me crazy

NO, WAIT… ANON YOU’RE COOKING. Idk what it all means either, but those parallels are so good and so true. Cause there definitely is something artificial about Kairi’s heart, even if just partially. It was experimented on, like you said, and it looks completely different than the organic hearts we see, and I suspect that’s why we’ve never seen Kairi’s heart station. Because it’s (at least partially) artificial. It would look totally different than all the other heart stations and would probably give away what’s going on.

thinking about all those times uther's life hung in the balance and it was up to merlin to chose whether or not to save him and he chose to save him every time until the end when his healing spell backfired and killed uther instead.

thinking about how merlin is tied to every member of the pendragon family by destiny and is the reason for each of their deaths, in one way or another (magic taking ygraine's life, merlin killing uther, merlin stabbing morgana, merlin's actions setting the stage for mordred to kill arthur).

thinking about merlin and uther's bond through destiny and how merlin was uther's prey yet also his undoing. a game of cat and mouse where the mouse wins.

merlin was always destined to kill uther. it didn't matter when or how, but uther was always to die by merlin's hand. uther waged war on magic and the old religion and the gods of the old religion sent merlin as their reckoning. merlin was the righteous hand of god who struck down a genocidal tyrant.

its so silly but i just keep thinking abt being in norway and seeing for the first time kinda ever that like governments can do things to make peoples life better. for no other reason but just to improve things. like im sure norway has lots of problems i didnt see on a trip but i cannot stress how insane it was that the government had done things because it would be nice. to take care of people. ?????
