cross over fandom: TOA x Batman

I'm so tempted to make this a sad crossover. I mean Jim is only one tragedy away from being a perfect Robin. Heroic, self-sacrificing, black hair, blue eyes. The only thing that separates him is he's not an orphan... yet. All it would take would be one episode of Trollhunters to go a little more tragic than it did in canon, and Jim could have been fighting trolls in Gotham.

Just imagine, Jim, devastated by the loss of Barbara, a paranoid flight risk in the California foster system getting taken in by Bruce Wayne. He's willing to do it because he knows his amulet is the key to releasing Gunmar and if he's far from the Bridge then the world survives. Jim testing each of the Batfam again and again with a gagletak, never allowing it out of his sight, terrified that one of them will be replaced by a changeling at any moment.

I also think he would make a great addition to the Batfam. He brings a paranormal experience that most of the others lack, he's unwilling to kill (finish the fight) he's used to fighting enemies way bigger than him so could tangle with threats like Killer Croc or Bane. He's already faced his biggest fears multiple times, so wouldn't lose his mind against Fear Gas. Bruce and the others could help him destroy and hide the pieces of Killahead.

But let's give Jim a happier story.

Red Robin is taking a brief break from Young Justice to investigate a series of disappearances in a random small city in California. (I think I remember someone saying that YJ (comic not show) are based out of Cali anyways) He finds that the city is under attack by strange, stone creatures! He is ready to call the rest of his team to help.

But the city already has a defender! The Trollhunter!

In my mind I would put this after the first half of season one. So Bular was just destroyed, Jim has some training, but still isn't perfect, and Claire and Toby have officially joined the fight.

Tim takes the time to observe. He sees that these are teens just like his YJ team, with no support from adults in their lives, and the non aggressive trolls are largely useless. Especially telling is that they are facing threats not just in their night life, but during their civilian lives as well.

He brings his team in to provide some training and support for the Trollhunters. Tim personally trains Jim, helping him to master his armor and weapons. The team train Toby and Claire, first in how to support a hero (ie. first aid and such) then how to fight on their own, then eventually with their respective weapons, Toby's Hammer and Claire's Staff.

Tim gives Jim a communicator so they can talk and if necessary call for help. Jim at first kind of stubbornly refuses, cause the boy really does have a problem allowing others to help him. But when he realizes how much his mom's life is in danger because of Strickler's soul binding, Jim calls for help.

Young Justice call in some favors with Justice League Dark to break the binding (and maybe even spare Barbara's memories as well). Young Justice is able to intercede to stop Strickler's plots at least a little.

I wouldn't want to completely remove the plot of the second and third season of Trollhunters, but things would definitely change a lot with the help of competent, trained heroes, and if it did come time for the Eternal Night, they would have the help of not only Young Justice, but maybe the Teen Titans and the full Justice League as well to stop the invasion.

YJ would also be on hand to help with Aja and Krel, having experience with aliens already. I feel like things would never be allowed to get to the point of Rise of the Titans, so the finale would happen completely differently (thank fucking god).

TOAxDC anyone?

I've been a part of the MariBat fandom for years now, and more recently become a part of the BatPham fandom since it grew into a full fandom of it's own.

In all that time I have been sitting on an idea for another crossover with DC that I think has just as much potential to become something entirely its own.

So, allow me to present the idea of Tales of Arcadia x Batman, which I've been affectionate calling the BATHUNTER crossover in my head.

More ramblings and fic recs under the cut.

So, first and foremost:

We have a bat bait, blue eyed, black haired, protagonist with trauma. Comparing this to the other two fandoms we've already hit the ground running.

We also have a reason for them to be in Gotham. At the end of Trollhunters we have Claire and Jim going with the trolls to find a new heartstone in New Jersey. Gotham is in New Jersey.

The trolls traveling across the country and founding New Trollmarket right in the Bat's territory doesn't even require an explanation beyond 'They found the new heartstone under Gotham City.'

The opportunities for identity shenanigans are still just as present as ever. If you stick to the full canon of the Tales of Arcadia universe, sans the time travel reset, then Jim, Claire and possibly Toby are both human and the bats could meet them as human civilians and as vigilantes who go around with glowing face covering armor and the ability to just disappear.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of canon past the first half of wizards. So I like the idea of Jim using a glamour mask to go to school while being a vigilante in his half troll form. Make the bat's even more confused.

I also feel like the dichotomy between the three rules of trollhunting and Batman's usage of fear as a weapon and no killing rule would be fascinating.

Just:

"Fear heightens your senses. Fear keeps you alive. Arrogance gets you killed."

“You prefer to call me Batman. But the reason you can never escape me … is that my name is fear. And I live within you.”

“Always finish the fight.”

"Heroes should never kill a villain, no matter the depths of his villainy."

They would probably agree on rule three, though: “When in doubt, always kick them in the gronk-nuts.” Since Batman identifying weakness in both his teammates and villains is a whole thing.

Lastly, the potential for bio-dad aus is fascinating to me. Specifically, not with Bruce as the bio-dad, but with Commissioner Jim Gordon.

For anyone who hasn't happened on Jim Gordon's backstory, allow me to give some context. Jim Gordon's wife was named Barbara Eileen Gordon. They had two children, Barbra Gordon and Jim Gordon Jr. Barbara Eileen divorced Commissioner Gordon because she wanted to get her son out of Gotham.

From what I understand, in canon she keeps the name and eventually moves back to Gotham after her son becomes a serial killer and inmate of Arkham Asylum.

But this is an AU, canon is what ever we want it to be and Jim Lake being the biological kid of Commishionre Gordon and little brother of Barbra Gordon aka Oracle has some real potential in the right author's hands.

One of my favorite fics in general. Jim becomes friends with the Young Justice team while trying to convince Batman that he's 'just a civilian'.

Very funny and well thought out. I particularly like this interpretation of Gotham's trollmarket and the friendship between the trollhunters and the batfam.

Barbara Lake saw an uncomfortably familiar pattern in the behavior of James Lake Junior. She saw it in almost everything he did these days. She had seen it in her friends growing up. She had lived it herself. She just wasn't sure how to help him, so, instead, she calls in a friend.

Another fun one by NerdofSpades. Barbara, having been Batgirl, recognizes Jim's behavior in herself. It's a shorter one but still a lot of fun

PJO x DC AU

Percy's powers are growing at an exponential rate. This means that when he grows even slightly upset the ground trembles and it's scaring the people around him. Alright, he can take a hint. Besides, he doesn't want to hurt anyone he cares about. Even if his loved ones-Annabeth- don't care about hurting him. He thought they were fine after Tartarus, but he can see that his power scares her more and more everyday. So, he's leaving. Problem solved.

Percy moves to Bludhaven with a single duffel bag and a rickety wood boat that wouldn't be missed from the camp's boathouse. He sets up shop in the Swamplands by the airport. No sane person would live there, but Percy certainly would. Plus, he's banking on his ability to figure out woodworking enough to ramshackle together his own living quarters. . . . okay, a lean-to would probably be more accurate. It's not like he had any money right now, and he wasn't going to take any from his mom. She was finally doing okay. It was Percy's turn to find his own way.

So fuck paying rent. Shoddy lean-to it is.

Except when he got there it was disgusting. Beer bottles littered the marshes, shoes of all shapes and sizes floated between the grasses, and was that a flamethrower?!

Percy had expected to work his way up to a proper living situation, but this was worse than he thought. Sighing, he bent down to throw another bottle into his boat. This was going to take a while.

TLDR; Percy moves to Bludhaven to deal with his growing powers because he doesn't want to be anywhere too populated or far from NYC, so the compromise is the Swamplands outside the city. Eventually, Nightwing discovers this guy bumming it in the marshes and starts using him as an informant for any criminal activities he's witness to in the area. Percy becomes the Bogeyman hermit of the marsh that people "pay" for info and is known just as 'Jackson'. He's also grown out his hair and the start of a beard and started dressing like his dad to really sell the hermit look. Not like he cares much for personal upkeep out there.

Payments include help fixing up his property, cleaning up the marshes, and food. Meanwhile, Percy sits on his shitty lawn chair sipping fruit punch and watches a bunch of goons pick up trash. It's a good trade in his opinion.

When Nightwing is surrounded one night when he's going to visit Percy for info, an alligator comes charging out of the brush and takes a goon down. The rest scatter after its siblings appear too. Turns out Percy had adopted a clutch of abandoned gator babies when their mom was killed for sport. The hunter never left the bayou after that.

Nightwing and Percy get closer after that. *eyebrow wiggle* This has gotten long for a TLDR lol I just wanted a Dick/Percy AU so let's say that eventually Dick takes Percy home with him to the Manor after getting him a haircut and Steph is like "this is not the swamp man we were promised" but Percy absolutely refuses to get rid of the Hawaiian shirts he's stolen his dad's brand and made it his own (Poseidon keeps sending him more via Hermes Express it makes him feel connected to his son).

Jason Todd, Son of Sally Jackson

Jason Todd is Sally Jackson’s Biological Child.

Jason has already become Red Hood but hasn’t revealed his identity to Bruce and the Batfam yet. Sally hasn’t married Gabriel Ugliano yet. Percy is 6 years old.

After reuniting, Sally & Jason bond over their violent sense of justice/self-defense and Sally learns combat from Jason to protect both her sons with deadly force.

After learning Jason’s identity as Red Hood and his reasoning behind becoming a Drug Lord, she becomes Jason’s business partner that co-leads his gang under the codename ‘Queen’.

Queen & Red Hood become extremely well-known protectors of children and abused single parents, opening many parent & children shelters funded by their gang.

Percy is the mob’s baby brother, ‘Guppy,’ because of growing up the son and brother of Gotham’s most successful crime lords. They always made sure he hid his identity with a hoodie and gas mask to disguise his voice with the bonus of protecting him from Joker, Scarecrow, & Poison Ivy’s attacks.

After receiving Medusa’s head from Percy, Sally makes a new “statue” every month or so. She contacts abused single parents, kills their abusers with the victims’ consent, and gives 3/4 of the money she makes to the parent. This “charity sculpting” is allegedly as a favor to her fellow “grieving” single parents. Weirdly enough, she still ends up killing Gabriel Ugliano, despite never marrying him.

Jason Grace is sometimes jokingly called Superman in the Heroes of Olympus books. But I do see some similarities between the two of them. And considering I absolutely love both of them, any similarities can only be a good thing. Jason and suowrkan are both great characters. Honourable, kind, heroic, they're amazing. I know the few references Rick Riordan made between the two of them were probably made in jest, but I still really love both of them. There's just something about both of them that I really can love and appreciate.

Okay so I might be fucking brainrotted, but I have been having a brain worm that is just good soup.

So it's PJO x DC, like all the godly things are happening in the world of DC and like....

I want Diana to be away doing JL stuff while the whole Percy Jackson books are happening and like

Demigods have stories about the Wonder Woman! The one demigod that saves those that are in need of help! The sword of Olympus! Demigod of Zeus!

But the Titan war rages...do the Demigods pray to their parents? Begging them to send their sword to help? Are their prays lay unanswered because she is out of their reach? Is she off galavanting in space while the young Demigods die?

Would the prophecy that Percy is forced to shoulder Diana's? She is the oldest demigod of the Big Three after all.

Kronos is deafted. The Demigods scorned, disbelieving in the Wonder Woman.

How would Diana react? The pain and anguish she would go through? I kinda like the idea of the Demigods knowing of her but not her of them, just to see her reaction of finding out the average age that Greek Demigods die, (I think it's about 13? I think it could honestly be lower)

What would the justice league feel? Some of them gain their powers from the Greek gods, Hermes is tied to the speed force, captain Marvel is draws his magic from several gods, fucking Aquaman and his fish person things! I know there is more but my point stands.

Idk if I am going to write this as a fic but I just needed to get the idea out there hehe
