on hwang in-ho/front man, seong gi-hun and their dynamic.
first, idk why people are getting so upset at other people calling gi-hun dumb, we were told that in the first season. lol being bright is not his strongest trait but he has a good heart and we love that about him. however, he is still an idealistic gullible idiot with a gambling problem. except this time his gambling addiction is backed by a sense of justice and righteousness and he no longer gambles with money, he’s gambling with people’s lives. front man asked a good question at the end of the season, “did you have fun playing the hero?” can we even call gi-hun the hero of the story anymore? he gambled with people’s lives and front man showed him the consequences of his moral heroics.
front man only agreed to help gi-hun with his revolution when he mentioned about "small sacrifices for the greater good". i think he reveled in the fact that the “good guy” was willing to allow a few innocent people to die for the greater good to stop the games, which is exactly what the entire VIP theory is to rid the world of 'trash' to improve the world. notice how gi-hun's moral code and belief also changed, from being "nobody should die" into "yeah small sacrifice is okay as long it's for the greater good" at this point, he just proved that front man's belief is actually valid. AND he gets more of his own people killed in the pointless battle with the soldiers that they had no chance of winning. now he gets to feel responsible for all those deaths and the death of his friend and for whatever additional torture they cook up in the next games (as punishment for the escape attempt).
now on hwang in-ho, i believe he was once a good man and the story he told gi-hun was the truth. but in the end he lost a kidney, lost a wife, a baby, lost his money, got fucked over by the wrong people and got into serious debt and had to play this game to help his wife and probably it was too late to save her. he might have played the games like gi-hun but saw how ruthless and greedy people are and resolved that they don't deserve help
i don’t think in-ho wants/will kill gi-hun, but he wants him to understand things from his perspective and show him that his compassion for the people in the games is foolish. you can tell the frontmen (the old man and in-ho) are extremely fond of gi hun. not only did he protect their original front man when nobody else did, he then won the games and thus their respect as he is now as rich as them. he's no longer "trash", he’s an elite like them. i think they both actually kept tabs on him after he won (i wonder if they do that for all winners? inserting them with gps chips?) because they knew he had not used his reward money and in-ho wanted gi-hun to get on the plane and be happy with his daughter
there’s one interesting aspect of the games that makes front man such a complex character. the fact that they’re operating a organ transplant trafficking network. in a way, he’s creating some good to come from a really fucked up situation. but is it really for the good of others who desperately need it, people like his wife, like his brother? or is it just a money making scheme?
either way, i don’t think there is going to be a redemption arc for in-ho, he’s too far gone. we may get to see more of his human side if he manages to see jun-ho again. the only time we’ve seen genuine emotions from him was when he shot his brother like he seemed distraught
the real cliffhanger for me, is will gi-hun stay true to his belief that people can be good, or will he be forever changed into a villain and become the next front man…? after the events of this season i don’t see how his will doesn’t shatter. he’s witnessed how humanity consistently chose money over survival, he’s lost two close friends, his mother, abandoned his daughter. he has gained nothing from wanting to stop the games and this clearly feels like an origin story for the next front man. it’s clear the front man has won this round and i think squid game will either die with 001 or continue with gi-hun as game master
another thing i find funny that i don’t see many mention is how gi-hun is like the luckiest guy in the fucking world. but i don’t think him being alive this long is plot armor, it makes sense. the games exist for the entertainment of rich sadists who have so much money they don't know what to do with it (remember what old 001 said in s1 about life being no fun for both people with no money and people with too much money). and i’d imagine killing hundreds of poor debt-ridden fools year after year gets boring. especially when said fools are desperate enough to gamble with their lives because they think they can beat the system by playing better than everyone else and surviving and getting the money.
gihun is different because he got the money, got out, and still came back. not because he's unfeeling or because he wants more money, but because he's still convinced he can beat the system.
if you're a rich bored gazillionaire, would you rather watch some randos die or would you rather watch this exceptional idiot fail again and again until he learns that his ideals are meaningless and people are inherently greedy and equality is a myth and people at the bottom of the barrel don't get to question the system?
if you're an asshole gazillionaire, you don't want someone to challenge you and just get away with it. you want to hand them 45.6 billion won and make them go away quietly, traumatized, after breaking them psychologically by making them do horrible things until they understand they're just powerless "horses". if they insist on challenging you and your system and your beliefs (money = boundless power), you teach them a lesson and show them their place in the most manipulative and cruel way possible. if gihun dies right away, that's boring. so he can't die, he needs to suffer. he needs to concede defeat.
also, i find it funny how people are comparing hwang inho and gihun dynamic to hannibal and will graham. makes sense, their whole cat and mouse game, front man hiding his true nature from gi-hun the same way hannibal does, trying to corrupt the righteous protagonist, sowing chaos, testing him and observing his behavior like a lab rat, the crazy tension and staring contests, the gaslighting and manipulation. and with the fact that they think lee byung-hun looks like mads mikkelsen. i never put the two of them together but now i can’t unsee it lol

I know I've talked about bull and bear hybrid Bakugou, but has anyone ever talked about lion hybrid Bakugou???? I thought about this concept when I was still half asleep this morning but like,,,,
lion hybrid bakugou with his big ole head and even bigger mane of hair, all soft, colored like the sand you'd dig your toes into at the beach. he has a little scruff on his chin, but he never grows it out because he hates the upkeep of it.
he's always loud, growly yawns whenever you see him, his canines sharp and pointy when he opens his maw wide enough for you to peek in. he's so big and soft where it matters, lazes around all day everyday, and gets these big bursts of energy at the most random of moments. he's basically an overgrown cat basically
omg and he has this complex where he's just sooo high and mighty, like he's some king meant to be worshipped. but all you have to do is kiss his cheeks and rub a hand through his hair when he lays his big dumb head in your lap, and he's purring up a storm.
and and and lion hybrid bakugou whose tongue can feel so rough when he's feeling lazy about it, but somehow knows how to work it just right whenever he wants to lounge between your legs. gets so huffy and growly when you mumble that you can't cum anymore, just nudges your thighs a little wider with his shoulder as he nuzzles his nose against your mound. doesn't care to hear any of your complaining, because he's still eating and doesn't intend on finishing until he's ready.
omg and and lion hybrid bakugou whose favorite position is, of course, doggy style. but only because he gets to wrap your little dainty neck up in his powerful jaws and pin you there, likes how you whimper and shiver but go limp either way because you trust him with your life. he pins your arms beside your head and grunts so loud into your nape when he finally sinks his cock inside of you. he practically lays flat on top of you, just rutting his hips against your ass over and over until he knots you.
which is his favorite part because you two get to just lay there for what feel like hours, and you keep coming intermitally because he can't help but rut his hips a few more times, and hiss at the way his knot tugs at your clenching lips. sigh just lion hybrid bakugou who looks so mean and intimidating but he just loves you so much and can't get enough of you

I love Stellar! She's so cute! Love your art, keep being amazing, et cetera, but also I have a question:
You mentioned that at the time of Stellar's, shall we say, adoption, Shadow and Sonic were still in their "it's complicated" rivals era. I'm guessing Shadow wasn't especially close to Sonic's friends either? And that kinda got me wondering: how do Sonic's friends feel about Stellar when she first arrives? Obviously they love her on sight, but like, does Tails feel weird that he's now basically Shadow's brother-in-law? Is Amy a little alarmed at the thought of Sonic and Shadow being responsible for a literal baby? Does Rogue foresee the inevitable Sonadow to follow? And so on ...
Idk, would love to know more about the early days and everyone's reactions.
EEEHEHEH thank you so much for the compliment!!! 🥰🥰🥰
And I'll give you a quick rundown on everyone's feelings immediately after Shadow brought Stellar home!
Rouge was the first to know, as she was actually present when Shadow discovered Stellar. The two of them had been tracking some leads about Project Stellar for a while, not realizing they were stumbling upon another attempt at Project Shadow until they were right on top of it. Rouge initially tried to reason with Shadow, recognizing his anger instantly and trying to convince him to let cooler heads prevail. She even tried to warn him against removing Stellar from her stasis pod, fearing that it was acting as some kind of life support and would kill her upon removal. Shadow decided to remove her regardless, deciding that either way, a life in the government's hands as a weapon was no life at all. Still, Rouge convinced him to take her straight to Sonic—and, more importantly—Tails, since he had the tools at his disposal to give Stellar a proper look over.
Sonic and Tails live together, so they were the next in line to find out. Shadow basically showed up looking like he was out for blood with a baby in his arms, demanding that Tails use his equipment to see if she was okay. Tails and Sonic both wanted more of an explanation (like, where did you get a baby, WHY do you have a baby, why do you look like you just got out of a fight, etc) and Shadow would begrudgingly tell them what he'd learned, clearly deeply uncomfortable with the entire conversation.
Well, to say they would both be shocked would be an understatement. Sonic would be at a loss for words, for once. Tails, ever the scientist, would immediately want to look over Stellar to see if Shadow was telling the truth. By the time Shadow had handed the baby over to Tails, Sonic's brain would have rebooted and the motor mouth would start up again.
He'd be in total disbelief, really. He'd just start yammering on about every question and concern that would come to mind.
"The government tried to make another you?? With ME?"
"Does that make me a dad? Does that make YOU a dad?? ARE WE DADS??"
"I can't take care of a baby, I don't even remember BEING a baby! What do babies even eat??"
Etcetera, etcetera. Shadow would just stand stiffly in a corner of Tails's workshop, laser focused on whatever tests Tails would be running on tiny baby Stellar. He would totally tune Sonic out, instead focusing on the barely noticeable rise and fall of Stellar's chest, petrified that she might stop breathing if he looked away.
Honestly, the first night would be VERY tense. Shadow would still be high strung from the rescue, Sonic would be trying to wrap his head around the whole idea, and Tails would be devoted to running all the tests he could on Stellar to try and get some answers.
Tails would determine she was healthy, showed no signs of requiring any kind of life support, and was definitely Shadow and Sonic's biological child. Half Shadow's DNA, half Sonic's.
He would also realize in his tests that her energy readings were off the charts. Whatever they had been cooking up in that lab wasn't good, and Stellar was almost like a living chaos emerald. He'd immediately be concerned about the implications of keeping her around, but Sonic would have come around by that point, deciding there was no way he and Shadow would be getting rid of her.
Shadow wouldn't be so sure. He'd suggest talking to Rouge, Amy, or Vanilla about being a mother to her instead, since he wouldn't be confident in his own abilities to raise a child. Sonic would be annoyed by that, pointing out that it would be pretty messed up to try and pass her off on anyone else. Vanilla and Rouge both have their own kids to worry about, and Amy lives in the Sol Dimension with Blaze most of the time. He'd reason that they should at least try. Besides, who could possibly understand her more than Shadow?
Eventually, they'd agree to try raising her as a team. It'd be a begrudging decision, but one they'd learn to live with. The two of them wouldn't be romantically involved at this point, either, so the two of them had a LOT of growing pains trying to figure out how to parent together. Getting a baby government assigned to you is one thing, but having to raise it with your rival is another!
Oh, and as for Amy, Knuckles, and the rest of the group? They'd almost all be horrified LOL! Stellar definitely received a rocky reception at first! They all grew to love her eventually, though.

what are your thoughts on nde for either eddie or buck in 8x08? me personally, im thinking buck is gonna get the nde, and i think he’s gonna be shot. tim recreating s4/5 when he originally wanted to do buddie, but what im thinking, is buck realizes his feelings for eddie but doesn’t want to/doesn’t know if he should tell him, then he gets shot and it’s all dramatic and eddie is there and freaking out, trying to save him and keep him alive (aka why they’re pushing medic eddie so much this season) and buck realizes this might be his last chance so he just goes for it anyway and while he’s bleeding out he tells eddie he loves him😭 i know this is probably not what’s gonna happen but lol i just enjoy theories and i always love to hear what you think!
adding onto this, i ALSO saw around twitter the theory that buck would get a nde, but he gets hit by a car or just in a car accident in general, and eddie is there and it parallels shannon’s death (obviously buck doesn’t die but you get the memo😆)
Hi, darling! Okay, I don't mean to shit on anyone's specs, but I think either of them getting shot again would be so uninspired. The show is slowly reintroducing new ways to pull the triggers they put down for buddie because they need to address the stuff that happened to them somehow, but a direct mirrored parallel to the shooting wouldn't work as well as everyone seems to think it would. Partially because I think that forcing Buck to confess because he (or Eddie) is dying is yet another way to take away Buck's agency and further attach Buck to the idea he's only worthy of love when someone bleeds. But also because putting one of them in the position to be doing the saving again won't really further their storyline. Eddie watched Buck in a nde twice, the bombing and the lightning, and Buck watched Eddie in a nde twice, the well and the shooting, and I think they need a combined trigger, aka a combined nde.
I am attached to my drown Buck theory, have them off duty, crash the car, end up trapped and the car filling with water, but I also think that the trapped dads theory also works a lot here, especially if you put them both in the situation while off duty, aka without gear or backup, and you can play with a lot of elements of every nde before that and create a catalyst for them to talk and figure themselves out. I also think everyone is getting ahead of themselves, I don't think they are in the place to get that catalyst yet, and 2 episodes are not enough to get them there when we are talking about an ensemble show. I feel like people are expecting a direct callback because we got a well callback and are getting a lightning callback, but while buddie was front and center during the well callback, they actually used it to further Chim at first. It works to get the audience thinking about different aspects of their past, which in turn makes it so that when they talk about it, it will be in our minds, but it doesn't explicitly address the implications with buddie. I think the lightning callback will be a lot about reminding Buck of whatever it was that he was supposed to learn with it the first time around that they never truly explored due to the network switch and Natalia not coming back. I also think that confronting the situation where Buck almost died and possibly watching a freshly heartbroken Buck be impulsive can push Eddie to look at some stuff that would push him into action to figure himself out.
Especially if @stagefoureddiediaz ends up right and the lightning callback ends up being a truck bombing callback too since the well callback is also a subtle callback to the kids on the cliff call in 304 and could be played into different directions when it comes to what comes out from it moving forward. Buddie has a lot to talk about, but they need a reason to think about the stuff they need to talk about on their own before getting to a point where they can actually have those conversations. I think they rely too much on how well they understand each other that they fail to consider the way they can't actually read each other's minds, and figuring that part out is important before pushing them to the catalyst. And please don't get me wrong, I'm like, 90% sure that the catalyst will be another nde, I just don't think it's gonna happen until 8b.

Hi tumblr land! Guess who turned 1 on July 4th?
Tumblr media
This girl!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was something weird with my camera so the pics are trash but I had to share.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here we have the celebratory madam herself, hugely excited by it all, and not at all bothered by having to model a bow for a photo.
Being her first birthday I wanted to do it big so I bought her a moomin food bowl 💛 with some nice treats 🍬🍭
Tumblr media
Isn’t it cute? Moffe has a smaller blue one. Moomin has a way of finding itself in my life. Tove Jansson’s birthday (and the official moomin day) is august 9th, which just so happens to be Moffe’s birthday as well. lol every road leads to moomin and Moffe. Even on a post about Frida’s first birthday celebration 🙈🎉
you can see more of Frida here, and the golden girl herself, Moffe here 😁
Anyway, sorry for the crappy quality pics but isn’t she adorable? She’s gotten so much bigger and has really grown more into her features. We got her when she was 4 months old. 🥹🥹
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at this angel! The most adorable lovable little thing you ever met! I’m so enamored with her! I’m smitten!
Tumblr media
Once bitten forever smitten! <3

took a second trying to think of what rhaenyra actually... did in hotd? not plot wise or whatever but like... did she have any hobbies? how on earth did she spend her time she can't have spent 24/7 up there on syrax and she was a cupbearer or whatever- that's barely a job. did she like to, idk, hunt or something on her own time and not for her brother bday? girly needs a crafting room stat
yeah the show had her main job just sort of be reacting to things that other people did? like even one of her biggest moments of agency and consequences, deciding to have the bastard children with harwin strong, was entirely offscreen and she never had a big “oh we are FIGHTING fighting” moment with Alicent until the last shot of the finale?
I didnt really like that she didn’t do anything because it weakens the argument the show itself is definitely making that rhaenyra should be the king. like they give us plenty of reasons to understand why Aegon would be TERRIBLE but pretty much nothing as to how Rhaenyra would actually do a good job. We don’t even know why she really wants the throne other than she thinks she deserves it because her dad told her so.
I think it would’ve been more interesting to see Rhaenyra be a whole lot meaner, and have some kind of weakness for power in terms of at least WANTING it if we are doing toxic lesbian divorce Rhaenyra needs to be also more toxic!!! i’m not sure if this opinion is going to get me sent to pitting women against each other jail so I’ll see all of you in court.

bo, first of all i adore your writing!!
but you've mentioned a few shall we say 'darker themed' books you've read in asks here and there, can you give some recs of your faves?? pretty please??
first of all, i love you! and also yes always, i never mind giving book recs! i sorta ramble under the cut, sorry lol
alright i'll start with the darker romances. these are hard noncon, and depict abusive relationships that aren't always framed as bad. when i say dark i mean dark lmao, always be aware of what you're going itno before you read a dark romance
If you like my fics, I can almost guarantee you'll like Taken by Felicity Brandon. This is about an author who writes dark erotica and gets kidnapped by a fan, who forces her to live out some of her scenes. Includes petplay! I have my issues with the book (and I DNF'd the sequel) but ohhhh the smut is so good
I mentioned them a while back, but Measha Stone's Owned and Protected series is a 6 book series with noncon/dubcon petplay in every single book. Calling these "romance" is a stretch, but god if you like my noncon petplay stuff (and you're alright with reading explicit noncon and forced relationships), you might like these
I haaated the ending of Distorted by Nyla K. but dear fucking god it is a good prison dark romance. Also it is SO Ghoap coded, I would recommend reading the first ~80% of it lmfao
Corrupt Idol by Dinah Harper is the first book in a series that will probably never get finished, but honestly it's pretty good as a standalone. Dark step-brother romance, and I thought the writing (at least in the first half) was so good, I genuinely felt for the FMC at times (even if I was screaming at her)
Ok I'm not confident in this rec because I'm still not suuuuper sure how I feel about this book, but Torment by Dylan Page is a dark step-brother biker romance. The FMC is the MMC's "rock", and the only thing that keeps him from flying off into a violent rage when he's upset, and he develops an unhealthy attachment to her that everyone around them allows because they don't want to deal with him. I never read the second book, but this is another one where you really feel for the FMC
One of my favoriteeee dark A/B/O (specifically the first book) is Born to be Bound by Addison Cane. I would suggest not reading anything past the third book, and I'm not a huuge fan of the side plots, but the stuff with the FMC and MMC is just. God it's the perfect brand of dark A/B/O (in MY head)
I've recommended it before, but for my truly fucked in the head followers - Under His Heel by Adara Wolf is probably the darkest book I've ever read. It's a four book series (and I think the whole thing is worth reading) and it's got every single trigger warning except for (i think) scat, pedophilia, and necrophilia. it has rape, incest that's also rape, extreme body modification (though it's not permanent), severe public humiliation, severe mental torture, and just about 0 aftercare for our MMC. The book follows a man in a far distant future who's working as an indentured servant to pay off his debts & his incredibly sadistic and evil master. These books are far from "for everyone", but if you really want some fucked up romance (with heavy smut) I think these are worth reading!
aaand some softer dark romances. to me, these are books with some lighter kidnapping or soft noncon, abuse in a mental but not physical way, and MMCs who just think they're in the right
Gemma Weir's Montana Mountain Men is like an acid trip and it's kinda crack, but i read all 7 in like a day, so take that as you will. Each book is about a different brother in the same family as they fall in love - except, in this family the men supposedly know who their soulmate is the moment they lay eyes on them. So there's some light kidnapping, some manipulation/unhealthy behavior, and some birth control tampering in these. For what they are, I enjoyed almost all of them lmao
The Darkest Temptation by Danielle Lori is like a kidnapping romance written for non-dark romance readers tbh. It toes the line of noncon/dubcon, and it's definitely a kidnapping romance, but it's really not that dark.
Nicky the Driver by Cate C. Wells is (in my opinion) not as good as the first book in the series, but it's way lighter in terms of darkness level
Shiver by Ella Frank & Brooke Blaine is a stalker romance that fell a little short for me, but was overall enjoyable (iirc lol). It's about a young man who goes into a kink club and attracts the attention of the owner, who then stalks him. I think it just wasn't as dark as I wanted tbh, but if you like lighter dark stuff I think you might like this!

There’s just something about how totk Zelda and Link both canonically have time powers but they’re opposites in the most tragic way.
Link can slow down time, giving him the ability to take the time he needs to make choices and take more accurate shots. He can flurry rush to hit you faster than you can react. His abilities make him more capable and impressive, giving you the player more confidence and safety when you’re fighting.
Zelda on the other hand is _tortured_ by her powers. In botw we see her struggle for 100 years straight doing nothing but fighting Ganon. Her powers keep her alive but at the cost of her safety and well-being. This is more obvious in totk tho with her (MASSIVE SPOILERS) getting sent back in time thousands of years and having to live out those thousands of years as a dragon, knowing her pain will eventually bring the greater good. Her powers don’t make her safer, she’s actually more secure when she’s not using them. Her powers actively torment her over drawn out periods as the people she cares about age and the land shifts to become unrecognizable.
They’re soulmates but they’re destined to be opposites. Zelda is caught in time and Link can affect time but never enough to actually reunite them. It just makes the time he’s taking to save her feel longer. The very powers that Hylia has given them to bring them together (Link’s time power thing with the pot lid and a guardian is what led him to being made a royal guard per Daruk’s diary) are also exactly what keeps them apart _constantly_. They must be so angry. They must be so tired. They must be so bored of waiting and watching the world slip past while the two of them stay separate.
The triforce is a curse and nothing more.

why are they hiding their tits from each other after sex what are they americans
Afsjsjsj this is the funniest ask I’ve ever been sent😭
In all honesty tho when I drew this I imagined them still being in some weird pre-relationship place, like look. They both clearly have issues. They haven’t had a conversation in literal years. I don’t think the first thing they’re gonna do is get nasty, ya know?
So I think they’d have a period of just being unhealthily attached to each other. More than Cam and Pal even. Like these bitches go to the bathroom together. And not for fun reasons, they go together because they can’t stand not seeing the other for even just a few minutes. Always gotta be in range of touch or (preferrably “and”) sight, gotta make sure she’s there, gotta make sure. Cant risk it. You do not see one without the other, and they’re very seldom Not physically attached. They don’t hold hands (not at the beginning at least) but they hold each others sleeves/belt loops/robes. They stand arm to arm, sit leg to leg. They sleep in the same bed.
And at some point it’s like. Well. They’re already watching each other take shits. They shower together. Harrow takes her face paint off while Gideon picks at her pimples next to her. There’s no point in wearing clothes to bed, right? And besides, if there’s no pajama pants or shirts in the way, it’s easier to really make sure she’s there. There’s no mistaking skin for something else. Warm, living skin, with meat underneath and a pulse and little twitches and hairs and scars.
Uh so yeah they’ve seen each others tits but they’re not quite There yet and they’re both gay but they’ve seen each other’s tits, but it’s rude to stare so they don’t, and nudity and nakedness are two separate but linked experiences and they both have issues and like, they haven’t spoken outright about THIS other than to establish that they’re going to be Harrow-and-Gideon, Gideon-and-Harrow, permanently. And on top of that, the worry of the other feeling forced into any kind of situation. They’ve been forced into situations, by each other and by other people and by necessity. Neither of them want that. Especially not for her. Not again. So they cover their tits because then it’s a neutral situation still and no one is being made to do or think something that’s maybe against her will; just because one person wants something it does not mean she does, because why would she, after everything you’ve done and become? She lets this intimacy happen, and you’re not gonna push it, so ur tits go under the blanket even though she’s seen them.
Ya know?

hi im still thinking about tenlark (when am i not). so was the moment lark and tenar met in the woods in the third movie was the moment lark realized she didn’t want to leave the kingdom anymore?
ooooh okay. i think like, generally speaking, yeah that's fair to say. but i also think that it's less about lark realizing she doesn't want to leave the kingdom and more about her realizing that 1) she can't leave the kingdom now and 2) she absolutely doesn't want to leave tenar
i think lark's thoughts during that entire sequence--from when she and arren and moss and ged are ambushed until she finds tenar in the woods (which is like hours later, after fighting for their lives and fleeing into the woods and making sure arren doesn't die and setting up camp and assuring moss and ged they'll figure it out and then going to scout the area to make sure it's safe)--never really stop racing? and i think once things start to settle down a little bit and she thinks they might be safe for the night at least, she does start thinking about her conversation with arren about leaving. and at this point, she thinks the kingdom betrayed them for whatever reason, and that's why they were ambushed. so getting out seems like a pretty good idea
when she finds tenar her initial reaction is somewhere along the lines of i knew it because she doesn't trust anybody at this point, so tenar showing up must be a sign that she was right and they've been betrayed. but almost immediately she realizes tenar is hurt too, and something bigger is going on. and that's when it switches from 'we should leave the kingdom' to 'i can't leave tenar.'
i think maybe a little later--maybe even that same night, as tenar is telling them what happened--she also decides she has an obligation to stay and do what's right. but the loyalty to tenar comes first
as for her wanting to stay in the kingdom--as in, deciding of her own free will with no obligations or sense of duty that this place is actually her home and she doesn't want to leave--that probably doesn't happen until some point when they're planning to take the kingdom back. and maybe it happens because she's surrounded by beaten down rebels who are all fighting for the same cause, or maybe it happens because she's falling more in love with tenar by the hour, or maybe it happens because she realizes there's a chance they might actually win once and for all, and when that happens maybe she could be happy here and finally, truly believe that she belongs here

Che’nya I just found out I may or may not have BPD. Give me advice on what to do with this information
*Che’nya appears next to you and gives you a gentle hug, wrapping his tail around you as well; AR comes out of the Tulgey Woods and sits nexts to the two of you as well, offering their support and is willing to give you a hug if you’re wanting one from them too*
Che’nya: I know the ask was technically for me, but I just don’t feel comfortable answering such a heavy ask with my usual light-hearted Che’nya answers. Which means it’s really more AR’s place than mine. Hope you don’t mind - we both care about you too, so I think it works out. 💜
AR: I will give the usual disclaimer that I am not a therapist, though I’m sure you’re know that and did not come here for that. But I wanted to get that out of the way first so we can just move right along. I will also put the rest under the cut, as this isn’t the usual Cheshire Cat content. 😊
Okay, this is long because not only is mental illness a topic I care about lot about… I also genuinely care about you. You’re one of the people I talk to on here and so I consider you one of my friends. And when it comes to the things/people I care about… I tend to talk. Even more than usual. You have been warned.
Altair, I’ll be honest, BPD is hard - though I’m sure you’re the last person I need to tell that to. I don’t have it myself, but I’ve known people who have it and I know they struggle. So hearing that you have it, or even that you may have, which means you show enough characteristics of it that the diagnosis is on the table… my heart goes out to you. I may not have BPD, but I do know what it’s like to live with mental illnesses.
My advice… I suppose the best advice I can give is to try not to look at this as a bad thing but as a good one. I know that may seem really hard, but hear me out. Now that you’re aware of your BPD, you can hopefully get help for it, or more specialized treatment for it if you were already receiving help.
I know finally being put on the right meds for your needs after years of being misdiagnosed or getting the right therapist/psychiatrist that you just “click” with can work wonders.
Just recently one of my favorite comic artists, “Art by Moga” was finally diagnosed as bipolar after years of being misdiagnosed and going unmedicated. And it has, according to her, legitimately changed her life for the better.
And I know learning I had Dyscalculia on top of all my other problems really helped me figure out why the way I am about certain things and not feel so self conscious about my difficulties with numbers and math.
Those are obviously not BPD, but I’m hoping the stories may end up being the same for you - hopefully being diagnosed will be a stepping stone to you finally finding a better, happier way of living your life!
But I know either way it’s tough to deal with that kind of diagnosis, so I would say try to be around people you care about and that care about you. Be with your support system. Get all the love and care. You deserve it. Do the things that make you happy. Get some TLC. You fucking deserve it. I give you permission to treat yourself.
But above all else, remember that having borderline personality disorder does NOT mean you are broken or unlovable or anything else. I’m not going to say that cliché line of “you’re perfect just the way you are” because even I don’t believe that about myself. You asked for advice and I’m not going to give you advice I can’t follow on my own. I’m not that kind of hypocrite. I always think there’s room to grow and improve and change. No one is perfect. And thank fuck for that because otherwise people would point at them and tell us all to reach for them as the standard.
So you’re not perfect. Neither am I. And the you before finding out you have/may have BPD is the same as the you now…
You are still the person who would send Che’nya random rizz pickup lines that oftenalways ended in hilarious ways that you didn’t intend that made me, and I hope you, smile.
You are still the person who made that sick-ass Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Martian Mickey twst OC and shared it with me and you’re excitement was so fun and contagious.
You are the person who told me about your other twst OC, Pawn, and his sentient mandolin, Mandy, and didn’t even call me rude when I sent you a block text of questions about Pawn’s relationship with Rook.
You are still the person who Che’nya sang an entire fucking Melanie Martinez musical number to, simply because it was you and you’re fun to have fun with.
You are still one of the very few people that interacts with this blog regularly in private messages rather than strictly via asks or posts - because we talk ooc so often, which means you are not just friends with Che’nya, you’re friends with me, AR.
You are still you.
And you is the person I am friends with.
And I think you is pretty damn great.
Che’nya: I agree.

Top 5 Cillian Murphy roles and why?
Thank you for asking!
1. Damien O’Donovan (The Wind That Shakes the Barley). I love his arc, how at first he talks the talk but doesn’t want to take meaningful action and how he becomes more and more involved. I love how much he cares for his friends and loved ones and how conflicted he feels about the violence in which the IRA is engaging. The scene where he executes his comrade after learning that his comrade betrayed them is gut-wrenching. He’s just a wonderful character.
2. Shivering Soldier (Dunkirk). While he is only my second favorite Cillian Murphy character behind Damien O'Donovan, he is the Cillian Murphy character I most want to claim as my own. In general, I am drawn to characters who are either actively going through something traumatic or have recently gone through something traumatic. Murphy is terrific at playing traumatized characters and imbuing them with humanity, and this character is no exception. In the wrong hands, he would have been very one-note, but in Murphy's, he is very human and very heartbreaking. I've also started to find myself relating a little too much to the character in some ways.
3. Robert Fischer (Inception). This was the role that made me fall in love with Cillian Murphy. I think he is a deeper character than people give him credit for - we see a kind and caring side to him at some points, and I like how when he's kidnapped, he doesn't seem to be that fearful for his own safety but immediately starts to panic when he thinks that a loved one is in danger. And I love how clearly wounded he is by the way his father treated him. He is the beating heart of that movie.
4. Robert Capa (Sunshine). I haven't seen Sunshine in a while, so my memory of this character is a bit fuzzy, but I like that he's always kind of on the periphery and doesn't seem to be as close to the Icarus II crew as they are to each other. And despite that, there are still likeable things about him, and at least some of the crew seem to like him as well. I like seeing the video messages he sends to his family and the way he talks to them in those messages. I like how he reacts to being tasked with making an impossible decision by simply going "Shit." And I like that he can still cooperate with everyone even if some people on the ship dislike or outright hate him. I don't know, he's just a good character.
5. William Killick (The Edge of Love). The movie itself is not very good, and I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, but William himself is a great character who deserves to be in a better narrative. He is another traumatized character, but this time we see him before, during, and after his trauma, and we even see him starting to recover by the film's end. He's very romantic and faithful as well. I'd treat him better than Keira Knightley's character treats him, I can tell you that much.

What are your thoughts on Gunny Bobrov? She showed up as the POV character in the Trial of Reckoning Waypoint story that came out with the Firefight update and is currently presumed dead.
I love her! I'll admit I thought it was hysterical that an even more niche Halo 4 character (who's first appearance is in a PA System hidden feature listing her as the Mammoth driver) showed up before Miller or Roland. Her and fucking Terry Hedge from SpOps (He was in 2 levels!! Is Esposito next?) making an appearance was really funny. I didn't know her beforehand and for a moment I thought she was one of the marines featured in the audiologs.
As for her character, I enjoyed the story and how she was written. No nonsense type who took stock and did what she could. And she misses the Infinity more than I do.
Tumblr media
She placed 4th with a friend in the chili cookoff. This is what I want from Halo stories going forward. Characters who have little details and fun links to the wider world we got to know over the games/novels/mobile games/ side stuff.
Her story, if it ends where it does, is good! I would like to see it continue. Rereading it for this ask makes me appreciate the tension and the glimpse into a single soul stuck in Escharum's dumb game. I love outsider POV stories. She reminisces about Lasky and Chief and wonders where they are. She remembers the war as the tension grows. She sets the standard for this new group of her, Hedge, Singh, and Doc. It's satisfying but leaves you wondering.
Tumblr media
This acceptance of the their own personal hell, the crucible of war games that we've been told is the Jiralhanae way, this is more interesting than us hearing Escharum tell Chief "Fight Hard, Die Well" over and over again. The human moments make Halo and scared out of your mind but doing it anyway is a fun story!
That and the nice "she had been called upon to serve once more". She retired and then reenlisted? But I do love the Halsey line echo that she said to an auditorium of freshly kidnapped 6 year olds.
Bobrov was called upon to serve, as if she ever had a choice. She's another cog in this war machine but we get to see and feel so much in this one short story that I hope they capture in the others moving forward. I do really enjoy what the writing team is putting out, whatever they're allowed to do.
I hope we see more of Bobrov, Hedge, Singh, and Doc. Maybe Kelly Gay can save some of them too, like she saved Horvath and Kovan.

What are your thoughts on the new SFW+/NSFW+ filters???
In case people don't know, MFC added new content filters:
SFW+: Completely hides all NSFW figures without a warning/NSFW disclaimer
SFW: Hides NSFW entries under a disclaimer and hides NSFW+ content (l0li/sh0ta content I believe) completely
NSFW: Shows NSFW content but completely hides NSFW+ content.
NSFW+: Shows all content without any warnings
You can change these from the drop down menu when you click your icon in the top right but you need to go to the Display menu in your settings to activate NSFW+.
I'm really glad personally, it's something I've wanted for years but didn't think they would ever implement so I'm really impressed. My issue was that I usually had my NSFW filter off because I don't really care much about seeing huge titty girls and am curious about releases but seeing l0lish0 is upsetting personally and it was irritating that there's literally no distinction between the two. I'm also really glad it totally hides it completely because I have chronic "clicking things that are hidden" disorder and I'm better off not knowing it's there at all rather than seeing a blocked notif.
Ive also not seen any l0lish0 clubs on the front page either within the past week which is suuuuuch a relief because they genuinely annoy me and there's literally no way to block clubs from being seen so that's a huge win LMAO. The SFW+ filter is also great esp for minors. All in all it's a really good addition and I hope in the future they implement tag blocking, a better user blocking system, and a club blocking system, but it's a start.

Had Star Trek nightmares, of all things
Started out I was on a ship, NOT the Enterprise D or any starfleet ship I'm familiar with, but I was with Picard and Troi and some ensign idk. The ship was damaged, we needed an engineer really, but it was just us. Life support was failing. We'd been awake for days trying to find a solution or escape.
I somehow found a way to summon like, a backup of Data, and he helped us save the ship and ourselves. His backup thing did. Idk, dream logic. We all had to take different positions around the ship to activate something simultaneously, so I was separated from the group. I activated my station... the lights came up. The computers buzzed to life. We did it! The ship is saved! We can get out of here!
I ran down the hallway, stumbling and exhausted, and into the turbolift that would take me to the main deck where l would meet up with the others.
A security team was waiting for me. Phasers (and some other alien gun-like weapon?) were pointed at me. They were all convinced I was an imposter, an alien invader, and needed to be destroyed. The worst part is they were RIGHT but I didn't know it. As they pointed out evidence that I wasn't the real me, that my memories were fake, I started to remember that I really was a horrible monster. I begged for my life. They were unmoved.
I woke up.
I checked my phone. I didn't have to be up yet.
I hunkered back down in bed and told myself, no, that's not a good enough ending to that dream. We can do better than that.
I fell back asleep thinking of how that last part of the dream wasn't real (even within the fiction of the dream) but a nightmare that happened when I collapsed from exhaustion in the turbolift.
I rewrote the ending, dream-me waking up in sick bay, where Dr Crusher was tending to me, and Data was waiting to see me to ask how I had solved the problem and why I thought to get his help.
So fuck you, nightmare, I'm gonna make my own dream. With the Enterprise. And Data.
Suck it
