Lusanlu Week Day 1: First Kiss/First Meal

Post-Whole Cake Island, everything’s a mess, everything is wonderful

Hello lusan nation, I did perhaps go a little insane making this. No one let me do a comic again.

I’ve had the thought percolating in my mind of Sanji coming back to the Sunny and seeing their decimated kitchen. I know Nami probably cleaned, but Luffy’s destructive force is unrivalled. Sanji is overwhelmed, but more so enamoured than enraged. I dunno, coming home to a place you thought you’d never see again, and seeing it ruined, but its really not about the place. Its about the people. His beloved crew and captain.

I’m not even finished wci myself but Luffys desperation and determination and love for Sanji just really gets to me. Also, laugh-crying. Yeah.

From a technical standpoint this was a lot of work and a lot of fun. I did cry when trying to deal with procreates abysmal add text function, and when trying to find the right brush for shading. And then I went back in and wrote the text myself. Alas, art is pain, etc, etc. I’m actually very happy with this though, even just for getting it done. Lusan moves me to great lengths.

Lusanlu Week Day 2: Sun/Sea

Luffy says quietly, gazing into the distance: "...What about the others? Are they dead?"

Sanji turns away, avoiding his gaze: "Yeah."

Luffy furrows his brow: "Why aren't they here?"

Sanji smiles faintly and replies: "Well... They're somewhere else."

Luffy: "Why?"

A pause. Sanji looks at him, then glances away.

Sanji: "…Do you want to join them?"

Luffy falls silent. For a long time.

Then he murmurs, barely above a whisper: "...I'm okay here."

Even softer: "With you."

Sanji takes a deep breath, steadying the tremor in his lips. Somewhere in the distance, waves lap against a shore they’ll never have to sail again.

Sanji finally meets Luffy's eyes: "...Idiot. Me too."

ROYAL GUARD/COWBOY AU i only have really vague ideas about this au for now but i love love thinking about it so!

- sanji's a friend of vivi's and because of the current unrest in her kingdom decides to join the royal guard

- first and foremost he's worried about vivi's safety, until he's been one long enough that it just kinda stuck

- the guard thing is more of a part time job anyway, he's more of the sous at baratie restaurant

- there's news about an infamous crew being spotted around the kingdom and it's a Huge deal,,, eventually he gets roped into trying to capture them because he's one of their best and they're still bandits even though he's heard stories which doesn't really align with what people have been warning him about

- luffy and sanji officially meet when sanji chases them down, luffy thinks this new guy's fun and sanji, naturally, wants to bash his head in

- the strawhats eat at the baratie, and suddenly sanji walks in, makes eye contact with each of them, visibly twitches, and ignores them

-  the baratie is sacred grounds. as long as no one causes trouble you'll be fine regardless of status

- he serves them himself and they're weird sure but it works for them. they're even a little nice to talk to when there's no yelling and bullets

- he doesn't turn them away anytime they're at the baratie, making it a point to cook for them himself, and they don't stop showing up

- 'it's a peace offering for the ladies' he LIES

- sanji foregoes cuffs in all his arrests. doesn't carry anything around

- sanji never brings down any criminals to the dungeon. he fights, sure, but when it comes to bringing them down to their cells he leaves it in the hands of the other guards

- sanji eventually sees for himself the good the strawhats do, and when he finally corners luffy, he just. Lets him go

- he still chases them down whenever they cause chaos but at any chance of capture he just looks the other way

- luffy's insistent on recruiting this guy. sanji's going to explode because of the attention
