I cannot believe they marketed the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off animated series as a true-to-the-graphic novels adaptation with Bryan Lee O’Malley and the original movie cast (thus luring in both the movie fans and the graphic novel purists), set the first episode up to appear exactly like that’s what they were doing, and then at the last minute they went SIKE this is not the story you think it is. Something I adore about this saga is how the songs all end with such powerful and forceful singing. It almost feels like Odysseus is trying to drown out the screams he hears by being louder with his own pain and convictions

because if the person/woman/goddess who had me trapped & under her control for 7 years, and was forcing onto me a one-sided relationship (even though she knew from day 1, that i had a wife called penelope, who i cried for every day at the beach for those 7 years)

Been thinking about Hades and Persephone because they really are so so fun to write in any way you want.

thinking of percy going to school as a small child. learning that some of his peers talk to deceased family members in their heads to cope with grief. and deciding to take the time each night to talk to his father. telling him a funny story of how mom laughed so hard, milk came out of her nose. of how he got a near perfect score on his third grade spelling test. of each time he got expelled from school and how much he knew it made mom sad. of how his stepfather is the meanest bully he's ever met. of how he wished the two of them had more time together so they could share s'mores and stories around the campfire. of how much he grieves the father he never had. and thinking of poseidon sitting in his throne atop olympus. tears threatening to fall at the sound of his son's voice. mirroring the grief of a child he never got to raise.
