I've been holding it in but god I've decided to relisten to Taz: Suffering Game and Reunion tour after getting the graphic novel and god, the amount of titular moments they cut are just devastating, like some of them I get, but god, they should have just made them 2 seperate books, the fact they cut 2 of my absolute favorite scenes, scenes that still hit me today relistening the same way they did when I was 13, listening to this story for the first time, really hurts, they removed the whole argument in Fantasy Costco over Magnus returning to his body, the "those are the arms that have held my wife" that scene made me cry when I first heard it, and it makes me cry now, and I'm not sure if that's because it hurts, or because knowing the loss of such a beautiful story in adaptation, they should have made them 2 seperate books, I don't care if I have to pay extra for another book, I just wanted this story I love so much to feel right, and im terrified for the next book, what's the point of adapting this story if its at the cost of what makes it beautiful

Chapters: 5/8 Relationships: Barry Bluejeans & Johann the Bard (The Adventure Zone), The Director | Lucretia & Johann the Bard, Johann the Bard & Everyone (The Adventure Zone) Summary: Barry needs to possess a body for an infiltration mission on the Bureau. Johann doesn’t black out when he’s supposed to. For both of them, this has ramifications.

After sundown on Candlenights Eve, Johann’s friends lay claim to a corner of the cafeteria, and bust out the tankards of some potent fucking eggnog — in Pringles’ memory, obviously. Johann’s first choice for how to spend this evening, frankly, would be to stay at his desk, quietly fine-tuning custom music boxes to hand out tomorrow instead of burning himself out on partying the night before — but, admittedly, playing tunes for Killian, Avi, and Boyland to drunkenly carol to is probably the runner-up option. He’s lived enough breakneck whirls around the sun to know there are more worse fates than better ones.

He half-wonders if Lucretia will swing by, but she doesn’t. There’s also no sign of Tres Horny Boys, despite the whole ostensible “Pringles Memorial” thing — but there is a curious little boy detective up past his bedtime, who sticks his head in and forces Killian to knock a cup of adult eggnog out of his hand. Johann manages not to drop a beat of Fantasy Winter Wonderland despite it all, and when a totally sloshed Brad explains that this is a big kid party for grown-ups, Angus takes it well outside of wrinkling his nose at the wording, and politely tosses both some chocolate gelt and real-ass gold pieces into Johann’s open violin case. Johann might never get used to having a child on the moonbase, but at least the little guy’s shaping up to be quite a patron of the arts some day, if he’s already doing this with his salary at ten years old or whatever.

It’s only once Angus leaves, with a promise of yes I’ll go straight to bed, Killian sir, don’t worry, that Johann realizes the cafeteria’s looking empty without him. Not because Angus was expected — but because others have been excusing themselves, too. Some of Leeman Kessler’s old teammates who weren’t too into spiked eggnog have long since gone on their way, and on the total flip side, Carey hasn’t shown her face since she announced a bathroom trip ten minutes ago.

i think what makes consuming dnd related media so unique is how completely unpredictable it is. you can be the worlds number one expert on narrative structure and plot twists and character arcs and you will still get completely and utterly blindsided by some guy flipping frantically through his player's handbook just trying to survive a battle against all these FUCKING goblins. yeah sure dude you can summon a spectral fucking horse for your friend to land on yeah man jump into that thing's asshole you'll probably fit yeah you can just disappear into an alternate dimension for three days of plot whatever and no amount of planning from the dm or audience speculation can keep a nerd with a microphone from keeping their little guy alive

So fucking excited for Imbalance to drop again. Honestly a little sad I won't get my tiny little hidey hole of being "that one (1) guy who's way too obsessed with an arc/character literally almost nobody knows about" in the fandom anymore, but the excitement of it getting a revival and possibly getting new people to talk about it with and new art from other people to fan over and seeing where people run with the openendedness of the series beats that tiny disappointment by a million to one. I've been waiting for this for two years now and I hope it takes off the way it deserved to the first time around, I think it was something really special and I hope there's people out there who end up liking it enough to make it a well established part of the canon in people's eyes and not just some long-forgotten side project, it deserves to be known about

Boy do I remember yoga class assassins! Thank you for this, truly, thank you. [This is part of an AU ask game, send me an AU and I'll tell you five facts about it... or ramble extensively under the guise of telling you five facts, who could say?]

Yoga Classassins basic premise: Taako is a yoga teacher who specialises in assassins. In, and within a mile radius of his studio is neutral ground. No fighting, no murdering, just stretching out all the murder limbs because they're knotty from skulking, crouching in wait, and lying on cold roofs wiith sniper kit. 1) Kravitz starts coming to class because his shady organisation stopped paying for the fancy gym he liked and this is the only place that has any classes which fits his schedule and they're all Taako's. He's right grumpy about it because he's used to doing really intense HIIT classes and smashing the fuck out of punch bags. Then he sees the teacher and, surprisingly, he decides he might quite like yoga actually... and maybe that Zumba class he mentioned doing... 2) Taako has a policy about not hitting on his students ever, no matter how beautiful they are. No matter how much he definitely knows they're checking him out. He's not sure he trusts himself to correct Kravitz's posture etc. without it feeling skeevy, so he does it minimally and Kravitz (mistakenly) thinks he's super good at yoga. 3) Taako's classes have a very loyal following because a limber assassin is a less injured assassin. Gotta make sure you do your stretches, can't go murdering people if you have strained muscles and you're off your game. Recovery time is bounties lost! This does mean he has to be super careful about what he says. The first 'accident' sure did solve the issue he was having with his shitty landlord, but after the boss at his second job disappeared the day after he mentioned the overtime he was stiffed out of he had to caveat any minor gripe with a "no murdering anyone about it!" 4) Kravitz gets assigned a job, there's this scientist right, he's about to make a breakthrough which is going to revolutionise clean energy, a new kind of engine, it's going to dramatically reduce the need for fossil fuels.

5) He's doing his scoping work like any good assassin, and oh fuck, is that Taako? Is Taako married? Is Taako married to the guy he has to eliminate???? Wait, why is there two of Taako? Fuckballs. He already felt weird abou this one, but the pay could get him out of the game and fund Raven's community centre...

6) (Because maths isn't the boss of me) Kravitz has such a packed schedule because he helps Raven (basically his adoptive Mum although they didn't do the legal bit) and her wife Istus run a community centre which absolutely saved his life. Raven definitely knows what he does for a living but just doesn't ask about it.
