A lot of people overlook the issue of emotional regulation Bloodfiends have and instead just equate them to typical vampires. Their desire for blood seems to have less to do with the fact it's blood and more because they literally cannot seem to feel much emotions on their own.
It is not a physical need but rather an emotional one. There's Something to be said of the overarching themes of emotion and time and humanity and light. (My essay on emotions and time and Angela and how the time reveal literally answered The Question she had is for another day.)
Bloodfiends need to have fresh blood in order to feel happiness (and definitely other strong emotions too) but that's not the only thing that can help. Bari realized giving a dream to a Bloodfiend could help, something to have faith in. But it has to be strong enough to break down the extreme barrier of apathy Bloodfiends seem to have.
Sancho did not crave blood when she didn't have memories despite Rocinante not suppressing it because she didn't remember needing it and she had her own way of getting emotions.
I also think there is something very important about Quixote calling it a sickness or illness. Something Carmen said. And it is once again related to emotions, or lack of empathy. How she changed her course to the only cure is not to care about others but to be entirely selfish. But Quixote being selfish in his dreams cured himself but not his family.
There's just a lot going on here that I really really like.

Sometimes I think about how one COULD posit that all biological life is the execution of digital code: DNA is just base 4, after all. I imagine this code iterating on itself over and over and over again. I think about how, from this perspective, Earth itself is the hardware: its physical state, its material reality, is the memory in which the life-code executes. This great big thinking machine requires incomprehensible energy input, but it just so happens to have an eternally-burning nuclear furnace, perfectly positioned to avoid overheating its delicate instruments.
I think about the calculation running for billions of years. I think about all that energy and time, used to answer such deceptively simple questions: “How do I keep doing this a little longer? How do I do it a little better next time? How do I make sure someone else can do it when I’m gone?”

“A captivating vista of brilliant blue flowers, intermingled with colossal stone coffins of unknown origin that seemingly drifted to this place. To the east, the jagged peak thrusts upward into the clouds.”
Oh to wander around the Cerulean Coast again for the first time…

My piece for Zine De Nuit latest issue, "Tied and Bound"!
It was about the ties inbetween original characters, as well as people being tied up, to add a little spice 🥵🫶
I choose Eufrasio and Jules because they are plaguing my brain, also I'm the author and I do whatever I want, I'm my own fandom. They're canon.
