I spent so much of my teens convinced I would never make it out of them, and then suddenly I am having dreams of being a mother that aren’t nightmares and learning just how much can happen in eighty years. I’ve found something new to fear���that the time will pass and I will forget there is more to do in life than fear.

There isn’t anything left to do now but fear until I grow brave enough to let it go. I used to dream in stories, in mysteries that never resolved. I used to wake without shaking, and I’m only 24. I used to cling to space between me and the generations that made me as though it were the only thing that would make the messes in me dissipate.

Life can feel overwhelming. If this happens to you, don't try to flee this moment too quickly. It's going to guide you, and will leave you once it has inspired your growth.  Sometimes, moments of difficulty inspire our deepest commitments to ourselves. Where Do You Store Your Memories?

Imagine stepping into a story where you are the main character. No longer just supporting cast, but the protagonist steering the ship. That’s where I found myself this year—a strange, bittersweet, yet oddly liberating place to be.

Writing, for me, is like cooking without a recipe. My ingredients? Memories, emotions, and the whispers of characters who refuse to stay quiet. Like Finn, who appeared uninvited last year, pulling me into her grief-filled world. Together, we processed loss, love, and the weight of holding on too tightly to the past.

I​n this new chapter of life, I’m learning to let go of what doesn’t belong and embracing what remains. The memories. The moments. The magic that fuels my stories.

Don’t be so consumed by your healing and growth that you forget to live, be present, and let things be what they are. You can take a break from buying books and binging podcasts and work on applying what you already know. You are not in constant need of a makeover. You are not a nonstop self-improvement project.
