my journey to self-acceptance

- decided i wanted to work on my relationship with myself

- recognized that nobody’s perfect

- realized that people probably aren’t thinking about me and every way i’ve screwed up or made a fool of myself all of the time, so i shouldn’t worry so much about what they think of me

- came up with self-care goals like taking better care of my skin and brushing my teeth twice a day more consistently

- strengthened my support system finally finding a therapist and psychiatrist that really get me and help me understand myself and navigate life.

- had a psychological evaluation at 32 and found out that I have Autism in addition to the ADHD i was diagnosed with at 18. Realized that a lot of my struggles in life were exacerbated due to lack of proper support.

- learned more about myself through reflection, journaling, and research.

- became more clear of my goals in life, organized my ideas, and took steps toward bringing my goals to life like applying for and enrolling in University and starting my newsletter on Substack.

- making the decision to accept and love myself as i am, and enjoy the process of continuing to learn and grow as a person.

Listen to me. If you want your media literacy to improve, you have to consume a variety of media. And I don't just mean a variety of genres or a variety of writers or a variety of target demographics (though absolutely those as well), I mean a variety of mediums. Read books. Watch TV. Watch films. Listen to radio plays. Watch theatre productions. Watch documentaries. Read comics and graphic novels. Goddammit read fanfic and watch youtube videos as well, just for the love of god have variety. Learn to recognise how different mediums convey themes and information in different ways. It's like food groups, you need a little bit of all of them to be healthy.

If I ever push you away, please consider it an act of kindness and proof of how much I love you. Trust me, you don’t want to get too close to my open wounds or my broken heart. You may feel hurt if I push you away, but really, I’m just setting you free. A monster like me doesn’t deserve love; it can’t save me or give me hope. Hey so can we like clear some time in our schedules for us to all get together and collectively remember that "write for yourself" was never supposed to mean what anyone on this site takes it to mean? Yeah the actual advice there is that you shouldn't compromise your own art and ideas for the sake of pleasing an audience, real or theoretical. IDK how so many people took it to mean "it's wrong to want people to engage with your art."

Still so iconic of Matt fraction to start his run like anyways off screen Clint and Kate who have met a few times before this run have become besties and are fundamentally now intertwined characters. Like and that’s just canon now. I think more comic writers should be willing to kinda just decide a new status quo like that especially with characters that have been under utilized
