和式（わしき）は、日本式の様式や形式のことを指します。伝統的な日本の文化や習慣に基づいた形式や様式を意味します。 和式は、主に日本の建築様式やデザイン、マナーなどに用いられます。例えば、和室や日本庭園、着物などは、日本の伝統的な様式美を表現したもので、シンプルかつ繊細な美しさが特徴です。 和式は、日本の伝統や文化を反映した様式や形式であり、その美しさや奥深さが国内外で愛されています。

Japanese Insired Coats of the 1910s

Maison Amy Linker • Paris

A coat with a silhouette like an outer robe for kimono was described as a “manteau japonais” by fashion magazines of the time, and the silhouette of this particular coat is reminiscent of the “uchikake” robe worn by kabuki actors or oiran courtesans in ukiyoe prints. The boldly striped collar is probably inspired by the “date-eri” collar style used in kabuki costume. The flower-like motifs executed in embroidered beads look like the traditional “hanakatsumi” motif that became popular in late Edo-period Japan when favored by kabuki actors. In contrast, the motifs on the bordered panel on the back resemble motifs used around the Mediterranean in ancient times, and could reasonably be called palmettes. This coat is an excellent example of oriental-style wear packed with eclectic elements that were fashionable early in the 1910s. Maison Amy Linker opened in Paris in 1900, specializing particularly in coats and suits. Its latest products were frequently seen in French fashion magazines early in the 20th century. The house is perhaps best known for introducing sporty fashions in the 1920s.

Although I have Japanese heritage, I initially learnt the language from watching animes. I love the flow of Neil Sedaka‘s piece and reinterpreted it into a jazz ballad. A great track to play live!

I perform jazz more often these days but haven’t yet released a jazz album (on the cards!), so this was such an amazing opportunity to record in a Dolby Atmos studio.

Un morceau enregistré en une prise sur laquelle j'ai ajouté quelques couches de violon et d'harmonies vocales.🎻

Malgré mes racines japonaises, c'est en regardant des dessins animés que j'ai appris le japonais. Admiratrice du naturel de cette pièce de Neil Sedaka, je l'ai réinterprétée en une balade jazz. Un morceau fantastique en live !

Ces temps-ci, je joue davantage du jazz mais je n'ai pas encore sorti d'album dans ce style (c'est dans les cartons !). Ce titre a été l'opportunité rêvée d'enregistrer en Dolby Atmos.

Ce qu’on appelle en littérature un style existe en peinture, c’est un ensemble de lignes et de couleurs. Et l’on reconnaît un écrivain à sa façon d’envelopper, de dérouler ou de briser une ligne dans « sa » phrase. Le secret de la grande littérature est d’aller vers une sobriété de plus en plus grande. Pour citer un auteur que j’aime, une phrase de Kerouac finit par être une ligne de dessin japonais, elle appuie à peine sur le papier. Un poème de Ginsberg est comme une ligne expressionniste brisée. On peut ainsi imaginer un monde commun ou comparable entre des peintres et des écrivains.
