I don't know how or when or why it will happen, but I feel like my time on the Internet, and what eventually morphed into social media, is coming to an end. I'm pretty disenchanted and disenfranchised and I feel like I'm waiting for the last straw to fall.

And this isn't like, ooh I should take a break, this is ohh this is going to get worse with or without me maybe I should swim for shore?

I guess I should find replacements. Read more books. Just be ready for the final disappointment. The degradation point of no return.

god i wish i wouldn't have to explain the intricacies of the neopets economy to you guys to give the full context for this but. the new neopets team that took over from jumpstart pledged that they were going to curb the inflation of rare items, which is great because a lot of rare items are worth literally hundreds of millions of neopoints, they are unbuyable unless you've been playing actively for 20 years. they did this earlier with a site festival that included random loot boxes, some of which had Unbelievably Fucking Rare And Precious items worth 200 million neopoints apiece.

well.

today they have gone a step further. by releasing this year's trick-or-treat bags. and having the trick-or-treat bags be stuffed to the brim with unbelievably fucking rare stamps, weapons, paint brushes, defense magic, and other unbuyables. (all prohibitively expensive and in-high-demand types of items.)

jellyneo, the premier neopets website, has recorded prices of some items plummeting from 2,000,000 neopoints to 4,000 neopoints IN THE LAST THREE HOURS. this is when most people haven't even heard about the event or OPENED THEIR BAGS YET.

and of course. cherry on top. 20-year-old account holders are crytyping on the site events neoboard about how mean and cruel it is to make rare stamps part of the prize pool, because their entire identity hinges on being part of the neopian bourgeoisie, and they are having MELTDOWNS over their assets being devalued until they're part of the lowly proletariat.

this is a children's game for children btw.

none of the money is real.

Namely that we really should have ended the flashback when WWX fell.#And then gone back to present time for a bit - or even go to a different flashback.#The sense of time passing isn't as strong as it *could* be.#We get *told* three months pass and that they've been looking for WWX. But to the audience it's been...15 min.#Less than seven minutes if you count the flute playing.#This guy when through a whole aesthetic and persona shift in less time than it takes to walk through a corn field.#Guy who listened to less than half an emo album and dyed all his clothes black. And jorted all his jeans.#Timeskips can be sudden and work out just fine! I personally feel like this one would be stronger with better pacing.#Feel free to disagree with me!#In case anyone is wondering why JC and LWJ are still holding hands: 1) Haunted house episode.#2) I needed to practice drawing hand holding at some point. Obviously, do what you want. People have been mischaracterizing characters for fanfic for years, and that won't change now - shit, I'll do it for funsies on occasion -but every time I try to read a fic where Ellie is this big brooding dom that gets jealous if someone so much as breathes in her girl's direction, I remember that that girl is like two apples and an orange tall on a good day. That is a Gamestop regular who wears Minecraft boxers unironically and yells at 12-year-olds on Roblox. That is a loser lesbian at her core, we read her journal. She yells at herself not to be delusional over a girl that very clearly likes her, and then when the girl that very clearly likes her locks lips with her she acts all shocked like the girl didn't very obviously like her. Loser!Ellie is just like...accurate. Like yeah, she would spend years pining after a girl who has a boyfriend...she DID spend years pining after a girl who had a boyfriend.
