Here's how one photographer that was laid off is documenting his post-employment life. We wish you all well and want everyone to know that this is a terrible decision by the Chicago Sun-Times.

I have just taken over as Editor in Chief of my school's paper. I am posting these memes all over the JLab.
We appreciate your support. Show us your frustrated JLab if you get a chance. We'll be happy to post a photo of your newsroom!

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to become a journalist, but now I am one year away from finishing school, I have no idea where to go to try to get into this area! How did you manage it? And what courses at uni are the best choices?
Well, as an undergraduate I was not a journalism major. But, I did start working for my student newspaper. If you have a year left, you might still have time to join the staff in your final semesters. Also, check to see if there are any entry-level internships at smaller newspapers in your area. At first, you might have to find something that is unpaid but you'll start getting clips. As for which university classes to take, it really is going to depend on what kind of journalism you want to do. Do you want to work in print, broadcast or digital? I highly suggest taking an intro to journalism course. Another way to work yourself into journalism is to have another skill that places want: Coding, graphic design, etc. Some companies are hiring these kinds of people even if they don't have journalism skills.
I hope that helps.

I am in my final year majoring in Journalism. I always have great stories and get good grades, but always get graded down for grammar mistakes. Do you know what I could do, for my grammar to improve?
Hi Anonymous!
Grammar is very important in all kinds of writing, not just journalism. If you really need help, might I suggest practicing your writing more? Here's a resource that might be helpful to you.
