Pianist Jeremy Denk, whose new album, Ives Denk, is out next week, stopped by for the Nonesuch Selects video series, in which artists visit the Nonesuch office, pick some of their favorite albums from the music library, and share a few words on their choices. He chose recordings by Jan DeGaetani, Gilbert Kalish, John Adams, Kronos Quartet, Richard Goode, Brad Mehldau, Caroline Shaw, Dawn Upshaw, and Sō Percussion; the Inside Llewyn Davis soundtrack; and Jonny Greenwood's There Will Be Blood score.

Danny Fenton, aka Phantom, has been given a new task!

In short, literally no one in the Ghost Zone/Infinite Realms wants their mostly peaceful afterlife to be rocked by a certain Gotham rogue named Joker. Which, when he dies, is almost sure to happen because of whatever the hell was in that vat he dropped in included ectoplasm. So, yay, he’s also a little ghostly too, meaning he *is* pretty hard to kill. Unfortunately, there’s also a certain vigilante that is quite keen to murder him in recent years.

So now Danny has to keep the mass murderer trauma clown alive for as long as he possibly can while attempting to keep the Joker from. Well. Being the Joker.

Oh, and naturally, Danny got this assignment AFTER Joker got out of Arkham. Again. And entirely blew up the asylum. Time to join the Goonion, he is NOT doing this without getting PAID, thank you.

Don't care that dorky cornballs hate rap because I truly believe it's difficult to get into any genre of music you didn't get a taste of during adolescence unless you're one of those weirdo freaks who listen to new music their entire lives. Yeah there's a racist element to it but overall I think people who actively listen to music outside of pop but say they don't like rap are telling the truth, the musical components associated with hip hop (I'm not talking about lyrics) are largely unpleasant to their ears. I feel the same way about classic rock.

Like I can show a Hamilton stan Story 2 by clipping. - a queer Be Gay, Did Crimes song where a man took his ass to therapy - and I still don't think they would like it. Appreciate it maybe, but not like it.

I feel like sing (the mcr song) would benefit greatly from a total barrage of sound rather than a fairly (and purposefully) thin instrumental. i dont know if i imagined this or if it’s another instrument or something, but i just heard a saxophone quietly going ham at the end of the song and this delighted me greatly. Saxophone could have saved the song

the reason genuinely well reasoned and insightful video essays/reviews are so rare these days is because the very best stuff comes from the most niche and unwell sickos who are badly obsessed with their thing and it shows. and those ppl are not usually great on camera and can’t bring themselves to insult their special topic by cranking out view-chaser slop every day. If it made ppl less uncomfortable to watch me in recording you better believe id be making one incredible three hour video essay every year on the refrain of Ms. Jackson by OutKast or Hatoful Boyfriend or what the novel Lolita was actually trying to convey, and they’d all be slappers with 4 views total
