I mean we know he couldn't have gotten the brellies anyway but he didn't, he didn't know the mum's were dead. And the babies didn't show their powers immediately for him to know that way

So like....how would he even guarantee the kids would be different ones?

You guys know how Alison says that she can speak seven languages? And how all the other siblings should presumably also be able to speak seven languages? But then people are like, ‘Where were Diego and Luther’ because they think öga for öga is a name?

I raise you this - where the fuck were Ben and Klaus??? It is literally confirmed that one of the seven languages that the siblings had to learn was Russian; in fact, Viktor knew it so well that he responded effortlessly when the government was interrogating him, but when Ben and Klaus saw the dead babushka, all they could gather was that she was pissed at Cha Cha.

So basically what I’m trying to say here is - what were these kids doing during their language classes cause they sure as hell weren’t paying attention. This is four out of seven kids that were just pissing off in the back; how did the not get yelled at by Sir #1 Dad

thinking about that au i spawned where the brellies have memory loss post-oblivion and how fucked it would be if one (or multiple) of them joined up with the keepers unknowingly. like. the memory bleedover would line up perfectly with the "past lives" other people were experiencing, making them perfect candidates for the cult. it could've made the keepers infinitely more interesting if they were harboring one or more academy members and tried to convince them to use their powers against the others to further the cleanse.

Started as a suit practise but (as always) Five made his way in! It then turned into my long-pondered pre-s4 fix-it AU (also redesigned Fives s3 hair bc it was gross <3)

I thought it was stupid and a bit OOC that Five worked for the CIA- and what was he doing during that 5 year time skip??? So many questions I hope to answer!

In my Gun-For-Hire AU- Five, feeling lost and aimless, returned to his gun-for-hire life, cutting off most contact with his family in the process (out of fear of getting them hurt). He quickly became a globally known assassin, renowned for his efficient and brutal work. Is he happy? Of course not! But in a perfect world s4 put him on the right path back to his family and stepping away from his past forever.

I don't remember Vanya being kidnapped in the comics as a child, she was always just next to Reginald. Correct me if I'm wrong!

And I agree that removing supervillains from the show sucked. I liked the few scenes of the whole family fighting with their powers (the scene in the bank and the beginning of seasons 2 and 3)

Any 🔥 about the Umbrella Academy, comic or show?

One thing that bothered me immensely about the show was that in the comic- or at least in the first volume of the comic- the schoolchild matching uniforms were entirely isolated to the Hargreaves's childhoods, with all of them having adopted their own individualized uniforms come adulthood; this sat somewhere between a thematic beat and a nod to the X-men trope of graduating from the "standard" uniforms to cooler, individualized suits. The failure of the show to incorporate this felt like the last dying gasp of the early-oughts shameful aversion to full-throttle superhero aesthetics.

Additionally, my read was that part of the point of Viktor/Vanya's character as "the odd kid out-" the one with no powers- was a riff on the "Boy Hostage" dynamic that kid sidekicks like Robin and Bucky would sometimes develop, a character who's basically on the team so that there's consistently someone for the latest villain to kidnap and imperil- everything else about where the character went from there was an outgrowth of that, examining how being stuck in that dynamic could make you go crazy. Thing is, that dynamic is contingent on there being a free-floating villain population to do those kidnappings- in the comic, there were a lot of powered villains with no connection whatsoever to the Hargreaves family- the scene where Dr. Terminal kidnaps Vanya acting as a synecdoche for the family's regular Tuesday itinerary- but as far as I can remember the show more or less dropped the idea that the academy spent their childhoods fighting actual supervillians instead of just bank-robbers and shit, paring down a baffling amount of the setting's ambient weirdness when you factor in how much of it they also kept in the form of the Time Cops, Hazel and Cha-Cha, and so on. Bring back the wierdos
