I'm not saying Dreamworks should make a spin-off on Fairy Godmother but I do need to know just how deep her influence goes.
Why was making a wish with her so fanciful and pretty yet Rumpelstiltskin has to do his deal-making from a carriage in the woods.
What would she had done if Farquad married Fiona. I personally would love to know how Fairy Godmother would have systematically and economically lead Duloc to ruin just to in sure Charming be the King of Far Far Away.
Was Lillian always supposed to marry Harold? Who is Charming's father? Just how did she become this way?

Obligatory AU where King Toadstool asks Mario and Luigi to rescue his daughter Princess Peach from the evil King Bowser of the neighboring Koopa Kingdom but when the brothers bring Peach back, she throws a fit over her dad “kidnapping her from her fiancée again” bc Peach’s dad just doesn’t approve of his daughter’s love for a dragon-turtle overlord, and the Mario bros are just scratching their heads in the background, slowly realizing they were duped into separating a couple due to an overbearing, speciesist dad.

Dumb thoughts while on break BUT.
The end of Shrek 2 when Donkey and Puss are singing Living La Vida Loca and at one part Puss exclaims "Donkey that's not Spanish!" Implicates that Spain is part of Shrek's world.
And the fact that Simon Cowell was also there as a judge for Far Far away idol unfortunately also implicates the existence of the UK within the Shrek world also.

I think that if a movie has a celebrity cameo, it 100% must be as jarring and immersion breaking as the Far Far Away Idol vote in the Shrek 2 DvD bonus features. Simon Cowell just walks in from the void, everyone inexplicably knows exactly who he is despite it making negative twelve amount of sense, and he then proceeds to be an asshole to everyone except for Puss and Boots.

What’s your favorite Shrek movie and why? I’ll go first.
Shrek 2 bcuz with all of its tiny details in the movie like world-renowned labels with diferent names or its resemblance with the American type of living and of course the songs used in the movie...  (don’t even try to mention I need a hero scene, everyone gets excited during that scene) oh my, Shrek 2 literally haunted me and this is a comfort movie for me to relax on the weekends with a cup of tea.

actively watching shrek the musical and when the magic mirror asks if he wishes to invite his father (who, by the way, is Grumpy. of snow white fame. you can tell.) to his wedding to fiona, :
F: “My what?” M: “Well your - your father, my liege.” F: “You mean that horrible little man who tried to keep me down my whole life? That mal-tempered monster, that vile grunt who abandoned me in the woods as a child?” M: “Well, he did have his reasons -” F: “Mirror, please. My father simply couldn’t accept that I wanted nothing to do with the family business. That lowly, dirty family business.”
and goes on into a whole song about his daddy issues. full of jokes of course, the farquaad and his father stuff is all largely played for laughs. but you can really tell how much that affected him growing up and how that kind of thing can manifest in negative ways into your adulthood when you can't properly process it or work through it. especially when, like the mirror, people outside of it often want to try and turn the blame on the neglected child and not the neglectful adult. what reason does a father have for abandoning his child? for being distant? especially after the death of his mother? a vulnerable child who needs extra support to work through a difficult time, completely shut out and ignored by someone who is meant to care for them? he's left to fend for himself mostly, he's left to process the loss of a parent alone. he's then left to process the loss of the other as well - a father who barely muttered a single word to him aside from 'heigh ho' before going off to work. of course he has trouble with his emotions and he's got all this rage that boils within him - which is only supported by his father being a constantly angry grump, that only adds fuel to the fire. and while he does feel a grand sense of pride that he's managed to grow up and out of the squalor he was raised in - he's the lord of duloc, his father is still sleeping seven to a bed and working day in and out in the mines - it also still feels like his entire sense of self was built on wanting to prove a point to his father rather than true self fulfillment. does he even really know what he desires? he's just driven by wanting to be bigger than his father and doing whatever is necessary to get there. he's lord of duloc - whats next? being king, i guess. but then what comes after that? whats the end goal? he struggles finding a true identity outside of doing it all for spite. he was still going to marry fiona after the reveal that she's one of those 'horrid fairytale creatures' just to become king and then lock her away! in his ambition to get to the top and send the ultimate 'fuck you' message to his father, he kind of winds up becoming just as bad, if not worse than him. because locking your wife away is just as bad as accidentally being the reason the princess you were married to dies and then internalizing your guilt and shutting your son out. anyways idk where this ramble was going but like farquaad has layers brother, just like ogres and onions do, and maybe things would be different if his mom had lived or even if his father had been anyone but grumpy.

Ok, so I’m binge watching the Shrek movies, and while watching Shrek 2 I think I found a plot hole.
Shrek 2 starts of with the classic storybook intro by Prince Charming while he’s just then making it the the tower where Fiona was kept. He finds the Big Bad Wolf in Fiona’s place and we assume that he immediately returns to Far Far Away, only returning when Fairy Godmother goes to find King Harold on the balcony.
Obviously Fiona is gone, and so is Dragon, the viewers know this but in universe Charming, and by proxy, Fairy Godmother and the rest of Far Far Away don’t know this.
Now, King Harold and Queen Lillian weren’t, to our knowledge, notified of Fiona’s rescue by Shrek and Donkey or her subsequent marriage to Lord Farquaad, nor were they at the wedding.
So my question is this: if Harold and Lillian weren’t notified of Fiona’s rescue, or at her wedding, and the prince they intended to save her failed and didn’t return until after Fiona and Shrek were married and in Far Far Away, then HOW did “Sargent Pompous and the Fancy Pants Club Band” know where to find Fiona?

Friends and fellow fairytale creatures!!! I haven't forgotten about this account, I promise! Apart from awaiting a Knight's fervent rescue, I moved this year (which was more traumatizing than Fiona realizing she had to look down to accept Farquaad's proposal) and I'm in the middle of revamping all of my blogs at the moment, so they're all undergoing a bit of a Sleeping Beauty Sabbatical.
The being said, I'm in such a Fiona/Far Far Away mood (it always strikes at this time of year, for some reason or other); apart from rewatching the films and potentially making gifs, I'd love to find fellow stans to engage with about the universe! Fiona is one of my more rare muses, and while I have a ton drafted for her, I don't have a community on here anymore to exchange thoughts with. I'd love to catch up about the news of Shrek 5, talk headcanons, and exchange thoughts!! Feel free to like this or hop in my IM's for discussion- would love a reason to get excited to log in on her account!

These are the kind of questions that keep me up at night
EDIT: Okay this video has extremely good points for it being canon so for now on im gonna believe that Far Far Away Idol is indeed canon in the Shrek timeline.

i keep seeing people draw puss with a guitar but its interesting to note that in the beginning of the movie the instrument he was actually playing was a lute - a precursor to the modern guitar - suggesting that even though this is a fantasy version, this world is going through the equivalent of the renaissance

What if Far Far Away Castle was featured at Universal Studios Florida and Universal Studios Orlando?
20 years ago on this day, "Shrek 2" was released two days early from its initially scheduled release date, May 21, 2004. This film took the world of "Shrek", as well as DreamWorks Animation to new heights. Considering how "Shrek 2" was even better than the first movie, and also its huge box office success at the time, it gave me an idea I thought of a few years ago.
We all know how "Shrek" was supposed to be a satire of fairy tales, nursery rhymes, and even Disney classics, so I thought that since the Magic Kingdom was the main highlight for the Disney Parks (Mainly Sleeping Beauty's castle in California and Cinderella's castle in Florida), and the fact that Disney and Universal are natural rival studios, what if Universal Studios Theme Parks in the United States built a replica of King Harold and Queen Lillian's castle to compete with Disney's Magic Kingdom?
Though Far Far Away does exist at Universal Studios Singapore, here's my own interpretation for how I think Far Far Away Castle would look like in the US.
SETUP
The exterior would pretty much be the same, if not, downsized. For the interior, I imagined the castle would not only be a place you could tour around, but it could also work as a hotel. The rooms we've seen in the "Shrek" sequels like the dining room, the courtyard (complete with a wooden polished dance floor and a stage for live performances and other outdoor events), and even the library (even though you can't rent the books, as I think the shelves would be fake) would be present. The place can be loaded with bedrooms, themed off of famous DreamWorks Animation properties. Some bedrooms can also have a balcony where you can get a good view of Universal Studios from.
As far as other rooms, I was thinking there could be a swimming pool and hot tub area, a spa, an arcade, and even private movie theater screening rooms where you can watch your favorite Universal movies with your choice to see them in 2D or RealD 3D formats (depending on your liking, or what titles are available for both formats). There can also be a restricted area for adults only which offers a bar and possibly a casino, with "Shrek" themed slot machines and card tables.
This is all I've got, but since Nintendo beat us to it with Super Nintendo World (in a good way, of course), I still think this would've been a great sight to see for Universal.
