In my heart dwells a pain that if I were to voice it would scorch my tongue
Yet if I chose to conceal it deep inside I fear it will sear through my bones

I will not cease my pursuit until my wish is fulfilled, Either my body reaches my beloved, or my soul leaves the body.

it translates to:
“All that I have read has faded from my memory,
Except the story of the friend (beloved), which I repeat.”-Saadi , one of the famous Iranian poets .
The meaning of this verse is quite profound. Saadi is expressing that despite all the knowledge and literature he has absorbed over time, the only thing that remains vivid and constantly on his mind is the story or memory of his beloved. This “friend” or “beloved” can be interpreted in various ways, often symbolizing divine love or a deep spiritual connection.

"If you give me life and if you perish me I'd give my head like a servant to wisdom that you are the king
If I do a thousand favor, I am guilty if you shed a thousand unjust bloods, you are innocent"

Bringing attention back to this poem by Persian poet Saadi as recited by a local nai player, who became known as Uncle Janan after a snippet of his interview became viral where he recites Saadi's lines to express his deep anguish and sadness over the death of his sons who were ambushed and killed on the same day by the Taliban for being serving police in the city of Ghazni. You can read more about him from this piece in the kabul now: https://kabulnow.com/2020/07/wound-of-war-janan-plays-nai-for-love-of-lost-sons/

...I don't have fun with my friends, nor am I at peace in my solitude in garden,
Go on a journey, my friends, I am a prisoner...

hyacinths to feed the soul If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft, and from thy slender store two loaves alone to thee are left, sell one, and with the dole buy hyacinths to feed thy soul. (I've always believed that it was Saadi, but I could be wrong):
