- Macaque initially found your gravitation towards jewelry to be amusing. Seeing you coo and babble at shiny gems and ornaments made him smile to no end. He'd frequently snatch artifacts from Wukong's dojo whenever you two visited so you'd always have more to keep

- It only really became worrying when he started to be super conscious about how small most jewlery is, constantly making sure you're not trying to eat a ring or small chain. He eventually only started giving you super chunky jewelry that you couldn't possibly swallow instead, but he still watched you extremely close

- He liked to talk to you while you looked in a mirror so you could happily babble to yourself as he gently told you many soft compliments, about how you were the most perfect cub he could've ever had and how he was always so proud of you

- He was slightly less enthusiastic as he noticed how close you were to Wukong. He still allowed you to visit him, of course, but not without snarking at the king endlessly and being petty towards him

- Wukong loved introducing you to every single Flower Fruit Mountain monkey that would come up while you hang out, which is usually pretty easy since they tend to cling to Macaque whenever he's outside

- Macaque always lectures Wukong very thoroughly when it comes to taking care of you. Wukong can't help but mentally log how intensely protective Macaque is, but he can understand the angle. He was secretly proud his old brother managed to be responsible enough to take care of you so well

- Macaque knows that he likely feeds into how much you tend to be focused on appearance seeing as he's constantly calling you the best cub he's ever seen and letting you have all the (safe) jewelery you could ever want. But he doesn't plan to stop that anytime soon. Ever since Wukong gave you to him and he saw your fuzzy face and wide eyes, he knew immediately he'd never seen anything more adorable. His heart melted seeing you well and vibrant, and he felt his love grow back tenfold

- He'll always let you use some of his clothes to do little modeling shoots, especially his scarf that he's fond of swaddling you in. He even offered to make you mini leather armor to mimic his own so you could match

- He's mostly good at shadow puppets that he conjures with his powers, but eventually he did pick up a small habit of making felt toys for you to play with. He used the sewing skills he learned to make you all your own outfits, including letting you pick the colors and patterns

- Macaque is a kinda vain guy himself, so he's got absolutely no problem with showering you with as many gifts and trinkets that he can steal find for you. Anything for the kid that gave him a new life, to make sure you always feel safe and loved no matter what

(please don’t crucify me for this, i promise this is a genuine take and not hate toward the ship!) ice and mav’s dynamic is interesting and we cannot deny the gay subtext—ice is crucial to mav’s character growth, especially in tg86. but in terms of central relationships that drive the heart of the story and mav's character arc? it’s goose and mav, and later, roo and mav, that define both films on a deeper, more emotional level.

mav and goose set the foundation for everything in tg. their bond is the emotional core of the first film—goose is mav's conscience, his anchor. he’s not just a best friend; he’s family. this relationship is central to understanding why goose's death is such a devastating turning point for mav. it’s not just about losing a wingman; it’s about losing a brother, someone who believed in him AND forgave him unconditionally. this loss haunts mav throughout the rest of the movie and even more so in tgm. goose’s death becomes the source of all of mav’s guilt, hesitation, and self-doubt.

fast forward to tgm, and we see how this guilt spills over into his relationship with rooster. mav is torn between wanting to protect goose's son and letting him chart his own path. this tension forms the backbone of tgm's story. roo embodies all of mav's unresolved feelings about goose—the guilt, the sense of responsibility, and ultimately, the need for redemption. it’s this father/son dynamic, not a romantic or rivalry-based connection, that truly drives mav’s emotional arc in both films. the burden he feels for goose’s death is unresolved until he finds some semblance of reconciliation with rooster. the act of trusting rooster and allowing him to 'fly on his own' represents mav’s emotional catharsis atp

the weight of this connection makes it, in my view, the pillar of both films. mav’s growth is tied to his relationships with goose. ice certainly plays a key role in mav's journey—his respect for ice grows over time, and their friendship is a touching subplot—but it’s not the emotional center of the narrative. the top gun series is ultimately about legacy, guilt, and redemption, and in my hUMBLE opinion, those themes are carried by goose and rooster above all. mav’s motivation, his guilt, his need for absolution—all stem from these two relationships.

every time bruce sees nightwing succeed, he feels infinitely proud and overjoyed because there is no happier person than a parent that is experiencing that beautiful feeling. his kids' happiness is his happiness and their joy is his joy so during certain moments he realizes how incredible it is to have a family–to be proud of that family

some parents may describe their kids to be a part of them in a way(its very common where i'm from!!), a part of their heart and soul and i truly think bruce understands this!! a parent who truly loves their kid feels almost every emotion their child feels and is deeply connected to them so i don't think bruce would be any different

Do you ever think about how Eclipse largely refers to Shadow as "brother" (literally in quotes), while actively trying to convince Shadow that they're two of a kind and are destined to be by each other's sides and that he (Shadow) should join him (Eclipse)

But then it changes to a flat "brother" (zero quotes) when he's revenge seeking and actively trying to kill him

Do you ever think about how Eclipse calls him "brother" in a way that betrays that he doesn't know exactly what Shadow is to him, only that he knows they're kin in some way, and in a way that implies literal "brothers" may not exactly be correct, but then when he's willing to kill Shadow out of revenge and out of ensuring the safety of his family, he calls Shadow "brother" like he's just that.

"Brother in the way that I don't know how to define our relationship exactly but I know that I have a strong connection to you and want you by my side" versus "Brother in the way that yes we are connected through being of the same race but being 'family' doesn't mean that I hold any lingering feelings for a traitor. You're just family and nothing else to me"

It seems like everyone assumes that Miles and Miguel, if when they reconcile, will have a strained relationship at best (which is totally understandable), but I feel like there is so much potential for such wholesome interactions between those two.

Both having Latina/Hispanic moms, talking about how the home cooking is so much better than anything else. (Miguel teaching Miles some of the family recipes that he can no longer show Gabriella, and how homemade empanadas are so much better than the ones in the cafeteria.)

Spanglish. Miguel, on principle, trying to steer him towards proper Spanish but doing so great of a job of it himself—it’s a constant back and forth teasing. Playful arguments and bickering in Spanish that make the others exchange oblivious glances, Miles getting frustrated when his vocabulary fails him, Miguel offering the words (and curses) to him with a grin knowing Miles would get fussed at if he ever let them slip them around his mom. Miles’ fluency improving exponentially because Miguel challenges him and makes him speak in nothing but sometimes while he gives him oral reports. Rio being so proud of her boy’s improved accent but being so puzzled as to why it suddenly got better.

Big/little brother tussling. Miguel armlocks Miles and ruffles his hair just to irritate him. Miles climbs all over Miguel. Slapping each other, punching each other, shadow boxing. Casual affection that Miles never got since he doesn’t have a sibling, and Miguel gets to indulge for the first time in years since he misses Gabriel more than he ever thought he would.

Miguel showing him the ropes, different techniques, how to handle hand-to-hand better (bc let’s face it, Miles isn’t that scrappy—see: his scuffle with the Spot). Miles being quicker and outwitting Miguel’s brute strength. Betting pools traveling hands while all the other Spiders watch their sparring matches, laughter ringing out every time Miguel manages to land a blunt slap against Miles’ flank, talons withdrawn, with a smug, “Gotcha, hermanito. Watch your back.”

Miles dealing with an anomaly in his universe, calling for backup. Miguel swooping in like he did with Gwen, whooping ass because only he gets to bully Miles Morales (lovingly). Miles watching in bemusement as they deliver the anomaly to base and the others are curious why they’re so terrified of Miguel and want to go home so bad.

Miles’ silly little jokes rubbing off on Miguel. Miguel’s flat sarcasm rubbing off on Miles. Them saying jokes/punchlines/puns at the same time. The others groan and roll their eyes. “You’re corrupting him, Miguel.”/“You’re spending too much time with that stick in the mud, Miles.”

Miles going to Miguel when he has trouble with his dad, needs advice, or just feels down. Miguel not being quite so comfortable to offer physical comfort, but willing to give him a hug if he needs one. Miguel giving him advice where he can. Miguel letting him hang out with him while he works. (Miguel’s heart softening to mush when Miles starts bringing his sketchbook with him to vent through his art, curling up nearby on the platform.) Miguel offering to teach him some things on tech and such to keep Miles’ brain occupied when it’s going a mile a minute—working with one’s hands does wonders, after all.

Peter B catching them holed away somewhere zonked on a couch, Miguel protectively wrapping an arm around Miles’ shoulders in his sleep while he snores like a bear. Peter snaps a picture, throws a blanket over them, and leaves them be.

At the beginning when the guys are just getting to know each other, Mike and Davy get into a fight (something silly and easily avoidable, but they don’t really know each other yet and they’re suddenly living in very close quarters, tensions are high). Mike loses his temper and starts yelling (he hasn’t learned to regulate his emotions yet and is used to yell or be yelled at). Davy (who’s the newest to the group and not used to being surrounded by this much testosterone (see: 3 sisters)) gets lowkey terrified since Mike is a lot bigger than him and is extremely scary when mad. Davy’s eyes start to water and he’s kinda frozen in fear and doesn’t know what to do (the others don’t step in because they’re also unsure and its the first big fight in the Pad) and begins to (unwantedly) regress. Mike notices this and is kinda like ‘oh shit’ and immediately calms down and is trying to apologise but it’s too late and Davy’s in tears. Mike has to comfort him and soothe him and from then on the rest is history.
