- Wukong is absolutely needy when it comes to cuddles. He loves the feeling of having you wrapped up in his arms, it brings him a lot of comfort to feel your warmth

- Macaque enjoys them, but has a hard time admitting that he does. He'll act like you're convincing him into it, even if in reality he's been waiting for you to ask all day

- "Geez, fine, princess. If you really want em that badly, then come here"

- The two definitely turn it competitive and compare who gets more attention than the other. They get into little bragging matches about it and everything

- "Well I had her for over an hour!"

"So? She was with me all day yesterday"

"I was busy! I had to train the kid"

"Sure, Great Sage, whatever makes you feel better"

- They get extra clingy to try and make up the difference if they think one is getting more than the other. It's not uncommon to have then randomly plop down on either side of you, both ready to ask for attention

- Wukong likes to cuddle by wrapping his arms around you, fully feeling you against his body. He loves nuzzling into your neck or shoulder, always looking to wrap you up in his embrace as much as possible

- Macaque is more the type to let you lean on him, though he will give an arm to wrap around your waist or shoulders too. He let's his tail wrap around you the most, keeping you close to him with a firm hold on your hip

- Wukong complains a lot if you try to get up before he's ready to let go. He groans and whines if you get up too early and follows behind you when you do get up since he's still feeling clingy

- Macaque tries to use more sly tactics to keep you laying down. Just subtle teasing and flirting, he likes using his charm to woo you back into his embrace. If that doesn't work then you got a grumpy monkey following you around with a tail around your waist

- They ask for it in different ways but they both want cuddles the second you come home and always before bed. They're the same amount of clingy in the early mornings too

They are twin brothers in the Reverse Au. While they're technically the exact same age, Sun Wukong is considered the "older" one. In-universe it's because SWK was immediately sapient upon birth (call back to the whole intelligent part of the stone monkey thing), out-universe it's cause Macaque has that gremlin baby brother energy.

They both have their issues. SWK is possibly going through a 500+ year depression with Red Son being one of the only things keeping him going after the death of his friends and he would very much appreciate it if Macaque left him tf alone. Otherwise he's fiiinnee, psshhh.

Macaque spends his time trying to get his older brother's attention, usually by making him miserable anyway he can outside of directly putting his hands on Red Son (because that did not end well last time) and has nothing else going on in his life aside from training MK to eventually take part in his schemes and the occasional shadow play.

There's a lot more going on with them, but spoilers.

~Ooo, an LMK request! I don’t get many reader inserts, so it’s always interesting to write one. Reader seemed like they should be a teasy little gremlin, so that’s the direction I took with things. I was kinda feeling off when writing this, so hopefully the grammar works. Thank you for requesting, and I hope you Enjoy!~

Summary: After being an annoying little shit, Macaque has pushed just about all your buttons. You know he just wants attention, and you have an idea on how to fix that… He’s not gonna let you help so easily, though.

Warnings: none! This is a tickle fic, so if you don’t like it, scroll away!!

Macaque sat in the shadows, waiting for his latest plot to play out. He’d had a strange urge to bug you recently, and he was never one to ignore his more innocent impulses. It wasn’t like you were going to kill him or anything…right?

Eh, consequences were for later. Right then, he was focused on your reaction.

You walked into your room, carrying a bowl of chips to share with him. The second your foot touched the floor, three shadow monkeys leaped out from under your bed, tackling you to the ground. They chirped as they snuggled up against you, practically pinning you to the ground in a cuddle-pile.

“What the- MACAQUE!” you fumed, glaring up at the dim corner of your ceiling.

As expected, a glowing purple smile and two eyes emerged from the shadows, one a damaged “X” shape. Macaque was grinning widely, the look on your face only adding to his amusement.

“Heya, sweet cheeks~ Why’re you looking at me like that? Got something on my face?” Oho, that smug asshole… He was gonna pay.

“Shadow monkeys. Off me. Now,” you grumbled, pointing to the cuddly apparitions; it would’ve been cute if you weren’t covered in chip crumbs, the bowl knocked from your hands upon impact.

“Ooooh, them! Yeah, that might be a little inconvenient.” Macaque whistled, calling the shadow clones. They climbed off you, thankfully; his clones kinda had minds of their own, but he wasn’t about to tell you that.

Once the clones had receded back into the shadows of your room, you stood and dusted yourself off. Great, now you needed to vacuum your room…

“Thanks, Macaque. I love it when I have to clean my room and buy more snacks.” Your unamused expression only made him grin wider, his tail flicking behind him. While it was kinda cute, your mind refused to focus on that while you were mad at him.

“No problem; glad I could help, hon.” Using his shadows, Macaque teleported right behind you to speak in your ear; while he knew he was pushing it, he couldn’t help himself. “You know you love it~”

You squeaked at the feeling, swatting at his head. He was gone before you even got close, teleporting closer to the door; it’s almost as if he knew he was gonna die.

“Ohokay, you little shit. That is it!” You whipped around, charging at him. As expected, he portaled away to some random spot in the house.

Little did he know, you knew why he was being such a dick. Macaque had been spending as much time with you as possible, and his clones had been extra cuddly. That only meant one thing: he was craving attention. That’s how you knew he wouldn’t actually try to get away.

Chasing after him, you ducked into the kitchen. While you couldn’t see him, you could feel his energy in the room; he was hiding somewhere.

“C’mon, Mac! You know I’m gonna find you; might as well just come out!” You started opening cabinets, listening for the sound of his portals. They made a tiny little noise when they formed, so you’d be able to tell if he cheated.

“Where the hell…?” You’d finished opening every cabinet, but he was still nowhere to be found. The only place you hadn’t checked was…no.

You pulled the fridge door open, and all the stages of grief flashed across your face as you saw Macaque shivering next to the milk. “Uh…h-hi?”

There was no response that even began to fit there. Before you could process the image of the man fucking hiding in the fridge, he teleported away with a giggle. That monkey…

Snapping out of your daze, you turned and ran to the living room; something just said he’d be there. Lo and behold, there was a monkey-shaped lump under the fuzziest blanket on the couch. Rolling your eyes, you walked over and sat beside him, lifting the blanket.

He was biting back a smile, shivering a little bit from his fridge trip. His tail was wrapped around his middle, trying to warm himself up.

“You’re impossible…” You sighed before pulling him closer, knowing he was probably pretty cold. He immediately snuggled up, not even trying to hide the chill. His fur was a little cool to the touch, making you shudder as he pressed himself against you.

“As cute as this is, I still need my revenge. Sorry, plum~” The hand petting his side switched to clawing, squeezing him tighter against you.

“Fu- Hehehehey! Nohot fahahahair!” He whined, but didn’t move away; your touch, while tickly, still felt quite nice. Burying his face in your side, Macaque just let himself relax.

You felt him melt against you, rolling your eyes at his goofy behavior; he was such a baby sometimes…

“You know you can just ask when you want attention, right?” You huff affectionately, moving up to tease his ribs. You felt the fur on the back of his neck bristle from the sudden attack.

“GYA- NOHOHOHOHO! I-IHIHI DOHOHON’T!” Macaque screeched, trying to deny the obvious. His tail thumped against the couch cushions behind him; the lie wasn’t very believable.

“Oh really? So, your tail is wagging because you hate this?” Teasing him, you moved a hand to scribble at the base of his tail. He snorted, and you couldn’t help but coo at the adorable sound.

“SH-SHUHUHUHUT UHUHUP!” Little purple sparks floated around Macaque, his powers reacting to the intense feeling. You wouldn’t have been surprised if he accidentally portaled away.

“But why? I thought you wanted attention, Mac; is this not good enough?” Deciding to be a little mean, you let your hand travel down to his hip. “How about I go for your favorite spot?”

“NO! NOHOHOHO, WAHAHAIT! IHIHIT’S GOHOHOOD!” Thrashing in your arms, Mac “tried” to squirm away. In reality, he could’ve easily broken away—but where’s the fun in that? Though he was denying it, the monkey was eating up every moment of your attention.

“Aww, I knew you liked it! Now, hold still.” Going for the kill, you kneaded the spot on the underside of his thigh.

Macaque absolutely lost it.

A loud, animalistic screech ripped from his throat as you targeted his worst spot. Before you could even think to tease him, a portal opened up beneath him, teleporting him across the room.

“Oho shit- are you okay?” You stood up, carefully walking over to the man. He was curled up on the rug, giggling like a mad man.

“Y-youhu- uhuhuhugh…” He couldn't even form a complete sentence, blushing furiously. His tail was still wagging softly, curling by his feet.

“That good, huh?” Kneeling beside him, you rubbed little circles into his back to try and calm him down.

“Shuhut up, jerk.” Macaque hit you with his tail, still hiding the smile on his face. If you listened close enough, you could hear the tiniest of purrs rumbling in his chest.

“Next time, just ask for attention. You know I'm willing to help, you doof.” Moving up, you started to scratch behind Mac's ears. The small purrs got louder as he slowly stopped caring about the noise.

“Wanna go lie down?” He nodded in response, using a large portal to take you both into your bedroom. And, of course, he was curled up in front of you, expecting cuddles.

You wrapped an arm around Macaque’s waist, pulling him close. The monkey was like a heated stuffie: warm, soft, and perfect for cuddles. Looping his tail around your thigh, he let his eyes close, purring softly from the cuddles.

“Night, plum.” Cleaning could wait until the next day. Right then, you were content to snuggle with Macaque ‘til sunrise—even if he was a little shit.

So one day, around when the relationship starts, and you start stealing his clothes, he's like, "huh?? where tf did my clothes go?? don't tell me some demon was desperate enough trying to get me all riled up by stealing my clothes-"

Then you just walk into the room, wearing *his* cape, his whatever it is that goes around his thigh, his *SHIRT*-

He didn't know you were a lil thief-

But really, Wukong doesn't mind you wearing his clothes, it just means new fits for you!

Doesn't mean he might not be embarrassed by the fact that you rummaged through his closet and are wearing things he has worn dozens of times-(and that he may tease/joke around bout it with you)

Now some may think Wukong doesn't really have a lot of clothes, but rest assured, minute you step into his treasury(?) there *will* be some assortment of clothes from different eras/dynasties.

He'd enjoy watching you try out some of his clothes.

If you're a good actress(unlike him-), maybe put on a lil show for him! No matter what kinda show, he'd stay and listen.

~Scenario~

Wukong : Sorry I'm late bud, I was doing stuff.

You, wearing one of Wukongs outfits : Don't worry, I am stuff ~

MK : Wait what-

At one point, this guy will be just- looking for his signature red scarf, scouring the dojo for it.

Like, he'd had it around his neck not too long ago-

Did someone pull it off him with him somehow not noticing???

..The answer is yes-

After some time, he finds you wrapped up in his scarf all snug and cozy.

I imagine Macaque would have a reaction that's more of a "You like me so much you'll wear my clothes??? Uhm, I-" than anything else.

He absolutely will make a teasing/snarky remark on it though.

Bonus, as an actor, Macaque def has a couple of outfits lying around for his shows.

What that means is he would most definitely indirectly ask you to try wearing them, so he can see how his sweet plum looks in his favorite outfits ':D

It was late at night, but you still had a personal project you needed to finish up. It had already taken you way longer than you had expected. You already had it in your head that if you wanted any hope of completing this, it was gonna have to be an all-nighter. You were writing down the necessary information, arm already sore from the work and eyes feeling heavy. You had your other hand on your cheek in hopes of keeping yourself up.

As you worked, the time ticked on, getting deeper and deeper into the night. Everything in you was begging for you to sleep, but you steeled yourself to keep going. That is until you felt a warm hand over your own. You looked up, jolting a little in surprise at the sudden arrival. Wukong was giving you a small look of concern, a gentle smile accompanying it. "Hey, Sunshine. You've been working for hours" the King pointed out gently, slowly lifting your sore hand. You let the writing utensil fall from your grip as he gently kissed the center of your palm. "Mmn, I know. But I've got so much work to do still..." You mumbled in reply

"Too much to even see us?" another voice called from your other side. Your turned, seeing Macaque come up through a portal in the floor with that smirk on his face "You must really be swamped, hon". You gave a small chuckle that faded to a deep sigh. Macaque noticed, pulling up a chair to sit next to you and rub your shoulder as Wukong gently massaged your other hand. "I'm sorry," You said gently "I got so caught up in what I needed to do". Macaque gave a small hum. "I think you've done enough for tonight, Mooncake. Time for bed"

"Bed?" You repeated, like the idea was absolutely insane "I can't, I've still got to-". "You won't be able to get anything done if you can't even move your hand, Sunshine" Wukong gently cut in, kissing the inner wrist of your sore arm. "I'll be okay" You protested "Just a few more paragraphs, then I can call it a night". "It's already well past the middle of the night, love" Macaque responded with a raised eyebrow as he looked to the nearest clock. You gave another sigh "I promise, guys, I'm fine".

Macaque and Wukong glanced to one another before looking back at you. "At least take a break" Macaque offered, Wukong chiming up after him "You'll work much better if you do". Despite being sure there was something more to this, you ended up agreeing. Your mind was starting to fog from all the working, so maybe this would help after all

Your boyfriends set to work the second you agreed. Macaque helped you get into pajamas, Wukong made you a comfort snack and grabbed your favorite blanket. They then set up the couch, letting you sit in between them as they gently squished you in from both sides. Wukong grabbed the remote and behan flicking through channels. "What do you feel like watching, Sunbeam?" he asked you. You gave a dull hum as the channels flicked past, until picking the first vaguely recognizable thing you could see

With the TV on and your boyfriends on either side, you easily fell into feeling content. Especially since they weren't arguing this time around. You enjoyed the snack you were given, glad to have something to help fill your stomach. The warmth from the blankets and the swimming of your tired head gave way to fatigue soon enough. You didn't realize how tired you really were until now

After seeing you yawn for the third time, Macaque leaned against your shoulder with a chuckle "Looks like you're tired, Mooncake". This time you gave an 'mhm' in reply. Wukong scooted in, gently scooping you up in his arms. You were still wrapped in a blanket, but now in a bridal carry as well. "Should we head to bed now?" Wukong asked, and you nodded as you leaned against his chest. With that, Macaque used a shadow portal to give the three of you a quick entrance to the bedroom you shared

Wukong placed you down in the middle, Macaque to your left and the Sage to your right. They cuddled in, wrapping their arms and tails around you to tangle you in their embrace. It was a soothing kind of warm, one that helped you slip even further into sleep. Wukong kissed your cheek and Macaque rubbed your back as you drifted off, both of them bidding you a softly spoken goodnight as they tucked you in

The past few months had been a little rough for you, to be honest. You were unfortunately alone for the most part, with Redson, your lovely partner, on some kind of trip. They called you as often as they could. They always mentioned how they’d be home before you knew it, how boring it was visiting relatives they hadn’t seen since their early years when they could be there with you instead. It was all weighing on you, and so you tried to practice some self care by letting down the glamour you used to hide your godly form. 

Letting your true form out was like taking off a tight piece of clothing. Fresh air seemed fresher, colors were more vibrant. You found it easier to actually relax around your home as your true self. 

You spent a whole week just hanging around doing whatever you wanted, still calling Redson for updates on how things were going, but never revealing this secret of yours to them. One thing you’d neglected to remember was when they were coming home…which was today.

“Y/n, my beloved! I’m back!” Their voice called in an almost singsong voice. Approaching the room you were in, which was the living room. You practically jumped out of your skin as you attempted to put on your disguise again, but Redson had already seen you. They froze in their tracks, mouth agape. You were still like a deer in headlights.

“Uh…welcome home, love!” You managed to say. 

“What on earth was that?!” Red questioned. 

“Nothing! Don’t even worry about it! I’ve got some dinner in the oven—“

“Y/n,” they stopped you from moving past them to get to the kitchen, staring deep into your eyes. “Is this not your real form?”

“…can we talk about this later, Red? Please?” You were still in a panicked state, and you were thankful as they gave you a bit of physical space.

“Yes. It can wait a bit.” They gestured for you to continue, and so you did, heart still pounding in your ears. 

They think you’re scary, that you’re a terror. They’ll leave you.

That night, as you two got ready for bed shortly after dinner, you could feel Redson’s eyes on you every now and then. Were they analyzing you? Perhaps subconsciously you were the one analyzing them.

Now you sat on your shared bed, feet dangling off the edge as you waited for them to join you. 

“My love,” there was a shift on the mattress as they took a seat with you. “Are you ready to talk about it?”

“I guess,” you closed your eyes. “You were bound to find out sooner or later, I’m sorry. I understand if you hate me.”

“Why would I hate you?”

“Because I lied to you! You probably think I’m a freak or something!” 

You were shaking like a leaf as you actually turned to face them. Their bright red hair was disheveled, no longer in its uptight ponytail. Their eyes, despite having slight bags underneath them, showed compassion and concern for you that you hadn’t expected.

“Quite the opposite, y/n…” they took one of your hands, kissing your knuckles gently. “The being I saw earlier was the most amazing, luminous entity I have ever seen.”

“You really mean that?” You asked. They nodded. You allowed your true appearance to show again, not once feeling their grip on your hand waver. 

“I do. And I mean it even more now that I’m getting a proper look at you.”

“Stop, you’re gonna make me all flustered! You snickered. They could tell the tension around you was dissipating.

“That was my devious plan, all along!” They held you close, even though you were still laughing and moving in their arms. “To woo you!”

“It’s working, it’s working! Lemme go!” 

They planted some kisses along your face and jawline and you could feel your face turning red. Finally, they stopped, and you were able to catch your breath. Now, on your own accord, you shifted forms again. 

“Not gonna sleep like that?” They asked, separating from you so they could move the blankets around. You had no idea how they could sleep under three layers despite being a walking space heater.

“No, as cool as it is, I don't feel like being a night light.” You yawned.

“Fair enough,” they got comfortable, with you at their side. “Sweet dreams, my lovely light.” 

“Goodnight, love.”

- Sometimes he doesn't even know how to express it. He just feels so happy, so comfortable and at ease with you. He's never really been the best with his words, so he tries his best to show you through actions like being extra clingy or spending more time with you

- There was a time or two (or three) where you just give him such a genuine soft and loving smile that makes him feel so warm he has to look away to hide how giddy it makes him feel

- Sometimes when you're doing casual things around his dojo he'll watch you with a completely smitten expression cause he's just so glad to see you by his side, especially in his home with him

- Absolutely stares at you for long periods of time absentmindedly and tries to act cool about it whenever you notice him

- Every little act he does to make you feel loved and special he sees as repayment for bringing warmth and comfort back into his life. He isn't perfect, but he does his best to try and let you know in the little and big ways that he couldn't imagine his life without you

- He gets light amounts of cute aggression with you and shows it in ways like shaking you a little or dragging you around with him almost everywhere. Though he tries his best not to be too harsh since he knows he's really strong in comparison to even demon kings, but sometimes it's really hard not to give you a huge bear hug

- Sometimes hides his face in your shoulder or neck if you're cuddling and he gets flustered thinking about how he's really more touch starves than he always thought and this is the most comfort he's felt in literally thousands of years

- Right off the bat he stresses about it all going well. He asks around the Monkey Crew for any advice, hell he even goes to DBK to try and ask him if there's any tips he could use to make this the best it can be. He wants to go all out for you

- He keeps second-guessing himself. He wants it to be perfect, but is also worried nearly constantly about if he's doing the wrong approach. Too much? Not enough? More, less? Big or small? He's indecisive in his planning for a long time

- When he does finally get a plan, he amps up the suave attitude while taking you out on the date he plans to propose on. He freshens up the best he can and finds a suit to wear, he compliments you frequently and tries to pull out all the cool tricks he can think of. Basically tries to act like the perfect gentleman while frequently goofing off at the same time

- Despite his bravado, he's nervous. He knows this is a really big step, and it took him a lot of time to prepare this. Not just the date and the preparations, but his heart as well. He knows being with him comes with a lot of risks and troubles, but he knows by now that he wants you there with him through it all

- After a dinner, he takes you to some of your favorite spots in general to make sure you have as much fun as possible. He makes sure to slide in special attention to the little things he remembers you like, like ordering your favorite food for you off of memory or offering to do something he knows you love

- At the end of it all he takes it back to where he feels safest, Flower Fruit Mountain. But he stops you before you guys can go into the waterfall. That's when he begins admitting things to you, like how he's felt about your relationship so far and all the positive things he sees in you. He's nervous while he does it, sweating a little and struggling to keep his voice steady as he lays his heart to you

- He finally semi-awkwardly wraps it up and gets down on one knee. He decided after hearing some demon methods from DBK and mortal methods from the Monkey Crew that the mortal way seems simple and sweet enough to work. He's kept one hand largely in his pocket the whole time, but when he takes it out you see he's been fidgeting with a cloth. He peels it back to show a ring

- With a huge feeling of anxiety mixed with the faintest glimmer of hope, Wukong makes a quip to you about being the Queen of Flower Fruit Mountain by his side

- It wasn't hard at all to imagine the shadow monkey you'd fallen for would turn out to be clingy. He was a snarky loner who dwells in the shadows— being touchstarved on top of that seems almost par for the course

- What you probably didn't expect was for him to be completely protective of you. Every time you went out together, he stayed directly by your side, an arm or his tail around your waist to keep you close and eyes on those around you

- It wasn't that he was nervous, not at all. He was a confident performer, that attitude was part of who he was. He was suspicious. He didn't trust these other people around you

- His ears are kept keen, listening carefully to the future whenever he can so he can make sure you're going to stay safe. He's had too many good things slip from his hands before he could keep them. He wasn't going to let that happen to you

- "I gotta keep you safe, Princess" He'd say snarkily if ever confronted with the situation. Teasing as he was in tone, it was technically the truth. He always found it hard to ever lie to you

- If anyone ever gets too close, or too friendly, Macaque's there immediately to help you. He steps between the two of you, making sure you're safe behind him as he gets the weirdo to back off

- He'll stop if you ask him too, of course. He's doing this because he wants you to be happy, and if you don't like it then he'll stop and that will be the end of it. He'll still worry, still be on guard when you go out, but not to the same degree

- If you allow it, or even say that it makes you feel safe, he'll keep it up. He'll even add in a shadow clone to trail behind you if you'd like, so when he can't be there the clone can fill in his spot

- Either way, he's determined to keep you safe. If fate has decided he should be stuck as the warrior, then he wants to fight for you. Nobody will ever harm you, not with him by your side
