I love how like, ambiguous so many Studio Ghibli 'couples' are. They're primarily male/female duos, and it's clear how much they love and care for each other, but more often than not it's never explicitly stated to be romantic. And their bonds aren't treated any less for it.

Idk it's just something I've always held close to my heart as someone who grew up not feeling romantic attraction the way most do, it made the characters feel more relatable and human to me, and while I still didnt fully understand my identity (didn't know being aro was a thing), it helped me better reconcile with it. And I feel that's incredibly important.

(And not just from an aro perspective. portrayal of m/f friendships is rare and something we desperately need more of)

Yes, they love each other deeply, but they don't need to kiss or be a couple for that love to be agknowledged and treated with importance. It's not any less than it would be if they weren't platonic. Hell, it doesn't even need to strictly be platonic or romantic. It could just be somewhere in between and that's okay.

There's a poll going around asking people if it's "alloaro" or "aroallo" and it lets aroaces specifically answer that question and it really rubs me the wrong way.

Firstly, the only ones who should get a say in OUR label is alloaros. We are the only voice who matters in that debate and the fact that aroaces are included in it makes me furious.

Secondly, I really hate that the community is leaning towards "aroallo" instead of alloaro. Someone in the replies of that poll put my thoughts into words pretty well. Linguistically, if you un-shorten the words "alloaro" and "aroallo" the second word in that label is the noun with the first one becoming an adjective.

"An aromantic allosexual" and "an allosexual aromantic"

In alloaro, the adjective is allosexual applied to aromantic.

In aroallo, the adjective is aromantic applied to allosexual.

To me, there's a huge difference in those two terms.

There's also the fact that alloaro came first. We were alloaros long before people started switching it up. And our community of alloaros sparked the beginning of the use of "alloace" for aces. (Whole different topic for another day)

But now... People are insisting that it's "aroallo" but aces still get "alloace" why is that?

Maybe it's not that deep, idk. I still don't like it.

It's really fun and cool seeing posts talking about how us schizospecs get left out of conversations about neurodivergence because autism and adhd are really the only things focused on in those conversations and then seeing the notes being like "Yeah! Autism too, don't forget autism either!"

What I find dynamically interesting about Armand is he really is a victim of his own privileges, but his privileges are still privileges, and it kind of gets lost where exactly he stands in position to them. With Marius it's most clear, like he gets luxuries, money, an education but those don't cancel out how he was abused and prostituted by Marius. In the CoD, yes he is the leader, but he's a victim of being forced into the position against his will, having to take on, and become accustomed to, the role of killing other vampires who break The Great Laws, regardless of his own desire to, and further, having to uphold things he no longer believes in, in order to appease the larger group.

With the TdV the only main difference is that it's secular. He has control over the beliefs being presented, giving humans/the audience the illusion and vampires the grim reality of things. So he can now think for himself, but still has to appease a larger group he never wanted, who are labyrinthine depths of stuff he wishes he didn't have to put up with. He upholds the laws pretty much only in order to appease people, and to some extent reinforce his role as the leader. Keeping this order and peace isn't what he wants though, he doesn't want his leadership. But I think a part of him is aware how such a position can become abused, and can suspect how someone like Santiago would abuse the position. The Great Laws almost need someone who doesn't want to be the one to uphold them in order to not be abused.

And I think as well that this secularism puts him at greater risk, (greater perceived risk I should say?), since people aren't considering some kind of divine right to his ruling. He has to actually prove he deserves this position, and is strong enough to maintain it. The theatre was also established right around the time of the french revolution, where uncontested 'divine' leadership was toppled for enlightenment thinking. So he can garner the coven is disillusioned by how much power he really holds. He's probably rightfully paranoid. I think as well he's understandably fairly unaware of his true position in all of this, and how much power he actually holds, or could hold, especially given all of the various contentions he has with his own power.

The only part of things where he isn't a victim at all is with Louis, but I think he probably sees himself this way. (No Armand there's more to being a victim than simply not having your way). Like he has all the privilege of everything he ever wanted, but at a cost for something he never wanted - (The trail and Louis' tendency towards ideation and depression made worsened by said trail. Of which he partook in an unclear position of privilege. Though he tells it that he'd been forced to). He's still living a lie of himself, which I think is what fuels this sense of being partway the victim in all this. He still has to posture a role and appeasement towards his privileges in order to have a semblance of peace and what he wants. Though this is in a much more manageable and definitely desired way, he can be possessive over out of purely his own desire for it. But even if this is everything he wanted he's always going to be on edge with knowing it's all a lie that he conveniently earned Louis back. (If we're going with just the show there's something in the way the acting is done that says Armand was NOT expecting it, even upset.)

And he gets toppled out of this by Daniel, and for the first time has really no privileges at all, no position at all, but is completely free to simply be seen, and be himself. He wanted this in equal measure to wanting love. He wanted to be seen and heard, and to experience the world without being beholden to a lie of himself he'd developed to endure. I think he always feared this, and yet also desired this out of Daniel. He just couldn't fully admit it till he saw it. Daniel is the best thing to have ever happened to Armand, and I'm not sure how Armand is taking it. Probably with a lot of confusion, probably very lost. But he did change him, he is his fledgeling. So that must mean something, maybe something he can hold onto to maintain some type of thread to all he has ever been. Maybe for love for him, maybe a gift of reciprocity. It's speculation.

Also the fact Armand is not white in the TV adaptation adds many layers to his positionality. He is always going to be without the privileges of whiteness, even with a position to be granted some amnesty and privileges by appealing to whiteness. He is a victim as well of colonialist racism, first, before even ending up with Marius. Having then no privileges, not even that of himself.

Blue unlocks the gate to the training yards, practically yanking the key out before he shoved his way into the door. Yep, there it was. Blue, folks. Mr. King of Emotional Repression. Red couldn't help but roll his eyes. Sure, he was kinda bullying Blue right now, but it was only in his head! And it wasn't his fault Blue dragged him out here before the Hylias light could even grace the sky.

Blue just kept moving like some stocky stiff machine, aggressively setting up the training dummies. Oh no- That layout and choice of training dummies and lack of shields meant he wanted to be competitive. Usually Green was there to rise to the challenge in those "everyone's the enemy and lets see who'll score more points because I actually feel angry at the world but I don't know how to talk about it cuz I'm Blue!" duel things. But today, it was only Red. Hell no.

Ok, all he had to do with turn up the charm! Just cuz there wasn't any sun didn't mean he couldn't shine bright enough to make up for it! Probably.

Red's plan was to softly put his hand on Blue's shoulder, start with that emotional support you know, but then Blue immediately stiffening and clenched his entire body so hard before he'd even grazed his fingers against him. Oh this was bad.

"Hey Blue?"

Blue grip on the wooden training swords was so tight his knuckles were white. If he breaks another one he'll get splinters again.

Time to turn up the charm, "Blue? Hey! Why are you being a grumpy silly head??"

He tried to really bring some light soft teasing into it, with wide open eyes and a non judgemental silence aaaannnnd-

Blue turned around with the most pathetic look he'd ever seen Blue wear in his entire life! Or well, since they became four people anyways- Is that what I look li- NO PAY ATTENTION TO BLUE.

He looks like a toddler trying desperately to NOT bawl his eyes out! Face all scrunched up, eyes unsure, and a wobbling uncertainty. He was obviously trying to look mad, but the way his furrowed brows and eye kept twitching it was clear he couldn't hold on to Red's all consuming gentleness.

All at once Blue yelled an ugly curse and kicked into the weapons rack. Red had to flinch back to avoid the whiplash.

"UEGH! Don't you get it?! Of course IM NOT FREAKING OKAY?!!"

Hook, line, and sinker.

"WHY IS IT THAT WHENVER SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS ITS ALL MY FAULT?! OH ILL TELL YOU WHY, ITS CUZ IM THE BAD GUY RIGHT?! RIGHT?!!"

Oof, and there it is. Raw and true, and oh so Blue. Red had been tempted to zone out on Blue's rant's since they could get.. slightly lengthy, but he still needed to pay attention. Cuz buried under all those sharp cold layers was something very raw and in pain. Lashing out like a cornered animal. Oh Blue...

Blue kept stomping and huffing as he went on, hands clenching and grasping as thought he was trying to strangle an enemy that wasn't there. Stomping feet leaving little clouds of dust in his wake as he went back and forth.

"I'm NOT some kid!"

" HE'S THE ONE WHO-"

"I didn't even DO ANYTHING?!"

"I trIeD to DEAL with the NERD but NoOOOOo I'm THE BAD GUY-"

"Teaching him a lesson and THEN GREEN-"

One after one, a dam broken, the hot waters gushing out with a force so great it'd overwhelm and push away anyone who tried to stop it. But Red didn't try to stop it. He let it pass around him as he observed. He was ok, and Blue would be ok too.

He loved Blue.

"And- AND- He- I JUST- AUGH!"

Suddenly, Blue stops in his tracks. Flustered, red and sweating, feet together like some shy and embarrassed kid. He's got a grip on his own arm, shoulders hunched, like he's trying to keep himself together. A look of frightened shock overcomes him, as though he's only just now realized where he is.

Red just keeps sitting on the bench though, head tilted, mind open. Puppy vibes c'mon. He watches Blue crumble inside, a deep sigh overcoming him.

"And I-"

"Yeah?"

"I just-"

Red quietly smiles, and pats the spot beside him. Before he knows it, Blue has already plopped beside him, exhausted without even picking up a sword.

"I just don't get it."

"Whaddya mean?"

Blue fists grip his knees tighter. "Why he was even so mad..."

"Green?"

"N-No, I... I deserved that. ONLY a little bit though I-"

Red incredulously raised a single eyebrow.

"AUGH! Ok fine! I deserved it a lot! Is that what you want?? To rub it in more?!"

Red blew a strand of hair out from Infront his nose. He seemed so disinterested at first, but then, like the flick of a finger, a mischievous little smirk grew.

"AWH, Blue!! I didn't know you thought of me so highly!" he beamed.

Blue couldn't have looked more unimpressed if he tried.

Red couldn't help but a giggle a little bit before he softed.

Blue sighed and mumbled remorseful, "Didn't mean to stress you out I just.."

Blue paused, watching the light join the horizon. His whole mood just reminded Red of a damp campfire. Or maybe a wet cat? One of the two for sure. Red couldn't help the surge of love and pride, Blue really had gotten SO much better at talking about his feelings! Blue worked so hard on it, Blue was amazing.

Red pressed up against his side and slipped his hand over Blue's.

Blue finally broke, "I just can't figure out how I messed up so bad- Vio- I know he doesn't like me, I get why I just- What did I do to make HIM outta all people get so... mad? at me?"

Oh. Red got it now.

"He never gets like that, that's what I do! And- I just don't get how I messed up that bad?!"

Red frowned, thoughtful, "Well, what happened before you guys started fighting and stuff?"

Blue grimaced, "I was just.. Telling him to do the laundry for once- Wasn't even telling him to do it correctly this time either!"

Red mentally facepalmed, but schooled his expression. This was like when he almost got into a fight with the radish seller guy isn't it?

"Blue," Red started quietly, "Do you remember how you asked him to do the laundry?"

Blue froze, stupefied, like he'd never considered in all his history that that could do anything with what happened. Probably because he hadn't. Blue was, extremely, tone deaf.

"I uh, joked about it? I mean- I he mentioned me like- being all frozen and stuff like a jerk! I was trying to "lighten stuff up like you said I should!"

Oh for Faron's fate-

"Blue," Red deadpanned, " Tell me exactly what you said. And what you guys were talking about BEFORE that. "

The absolute clueless, oblivious, and unaware look that screamed "thoughtless gerbil in a field with hawks" was. So painful to watch.

"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Well uhhh Vio was kinda like. Being a btch?"

Red somehow managed to resist the urge to slam his skull into the brick wall behind them.

"Blue."

Blue, in question defensively puffed up like some startled baby kitten, " Hey! I- I'm telling the story and its the truth! It's not just me being mean about it! And- I won't even swear again ok! Don't tell Green- Please-"

Red silently stared into Blue's soul for half a minute. Din give me strength- "Okay."

Blue straightened up, like he was talking to some higher ranking knight, confident and steady. Or as confident and steady as you could be when you had baby rabbit ears that flicked and burned crimson with shame.

"He- He thinks that he's better than everyone else, you KNOW how big his head is-"

"Bigger than yours, Blue?"

"H-hey n- No! ANYWAYS, he was being all judgmental and crap!"

"Uh huh?"

" And- And all 'oHHOoOHH IM ~ViO~ And I'm- I'm smart and you're stupid! 'AND THEN- Get this! He goes all, freaking 'You don't care and you're hearts frozen HAHAHAh'-"

" Really, Blue? Really?"

Blue made airquotes, "Banter, or whatever," he shrugged.

Was this how Green felt? Like several of his veins were just going to pop? Like he just wanted to lay on the ground and cry? And just eat a bunch of cupcakes and hide in his plushie pile? Okay, that last part was definitely mostly Red, but still! Blue was. The whole fight thing was... Yeah, yeah this just meant Red was right. They were being all emotional while trying to not be all emotional. That plan NEVER works! Stupid idiots. Big ol' dummies. His brothers.

"Blue, you know he's like... Sensitive about what happened in the tower of winds right??"

"He's what?"

Everybody’s Falling In Love (and im falling behind)

summary: demiromantic reader finally opens up to Bakugo about their aromanticism. Bakugo kinda drops a bombshell on them, and reader experiences a new emotion.

demiromantic: on the aro spectrum, where one needs to form a very strong emotional bond with somebody else to be able to *potentially* experience romantic attraction.

Coming to terms with your aromanticism hadn’t been the easiest task in the world.

It’s natural to not have any crushes or fall in love when you’re so young, right?

That’s what you would repeat to yourself when you hung out with friends and they talked about the cute girl, or boy, or person they saw.

Or when you finally reached an age where dating was normal and just a part of everyday life.

You’d hear their stories of romance and lust, and think

That sounds nice.

But you still wouldn’t find anybody you wanted to experience love with.

You had been asked out a couple times. And each time you accepted, thinking— hoping— you’d feel what everyone else claimed they felt.

You didn’t. The relationships never lasted long.

And, like a sign from some kind of God, you stumbled across an article about aromanticism.

It had just felt so.. right, you wondered why you never thought of it before.

You weren’t capable of that kind of love, you didn’t think so at least.

“You alright? You look spacey as fuck.”

You look up and find Bakugo frowning down at you from where you’re sitting. He passes the drinks he went to get and hands you yours.

You notice everyone else— almost all of former class 3A— is too busy in their own conversations to pay attention to you both. You take a sip of your drink.

“…Have you ever wanted to fall in love?”

“Hah? Where’s that shit coming from?”

You sigh, looking back down at your drink. The condensation from the glass cup drips down to your hand. You watch as the droplet loses shape and wish you were as mindless and unassuming as that too.

“I don’t know. But you notice it, right? Everyone else seems to find that stuff so— so easy. And it feels like the hardest shit in the world for me.”

Bakugo’s quiet for a few seconds. You look up, and he’s looking back. You shiver. It’s a bit cold for summer.

“It’s never been easy for me, either.” He replies.

“You’re too busy striving for number one, right?”

“That too.”

Your brows furrow. He continues staring.

“Look, I’m no idiot. I don’t know what you are— or even what you may like, but I notice things. And, I’m just lettin’ you know, you’re not alone. Or something.”

The confession shocks you to your core, your eyes widening.

You set your drink down. More condensation slowly makes its way down the glass, collecting on the wooden table.

“I.. had no idea,” You whisper. “Thank you, Bakugo.”

“Just don’t hide shit. We’re here for you.”

And it’s true, isn’t it? Most of all, Bakugo has always stood by your side in his own way. He’s never been the best at saying it upfront, but his actions have proved countless times that he cares for the people around him. That he loves them.

That he loves you.

And, for the first time in your life, you think you experience your heart skipping a beat.

You don’t know what the future has in store for you, or if you’ll ever experience romantic love, but you know Bakugo and the others will always be right there with you, cheering you on.

And that’s more than you could’ve ever hoped for.

Top 3 Best Yandere Duos

Technoblade & Ph1lza: should be obvious why they'd work well together! These two have known each other for ages and its highly likely that they'd even form a polyamorous relationship along with their shared darling. The two care and trust each other enough to compromise to ensure their darling is kept and taken care of!

Tommyinnit & Ranboo: a surprisingly good team! Its mostly because they're similar kinds of yanderes (mostly harmless towards their darling, only wants their companionship and attention, clingy, ect) that they wouldn't immediately clash. Also while Tommy is the jealous type, Ranboo is not but it's rarely an issue since Ranboo is so submissive in general scenarios- allowing Tommy to hog more of their darling's time with no problem.

Wilbur & Quackity: okay I know what you're think- you think they'd clash right? Well your right there's a lot of clashing!! But!!! They somehow make it work in an albeit disfunctional kind of way. The main reason this team even works is becuase Wilbur not so subtly is also just as attracted to Quackity the way he is towards their darling, willing to put himself "below" Quackity to help him contain their darling. Hey a bit of selflessness goes a long way!

The Absolute WORST Yandere Duo

Dream & Tommy: An EXTREMELY unlikely duo but has high odds of forming a dynamic- especially if obsession takes hold during the exile arc of all times. There's already so much going on mentally for tbe both of them and they absolutely do not want to fucking share their poor darling. They're both clingy in their own fucked up ways and even though I've stated before that Tommy is harmless, that all goes put of the window when Dream isn't above hurting their darling. Tommy would never try to hurt them of course- only Dream really but he's also so much more paranoid that somehow Dream will sway you away from wanting to hang out that he may start to verbally lash out. Everything is just..... awful. Even for Dream this situation sucks but he's too proud and stubborn to let go of his literal two greatest obsessions.

Happy disability pride month.

My posts have negative reach, but for anyone who is struggling with their medical conditions or still seeking diagnoses: it gets better.

This week I was asked to rate my pain on their stupid 1-10 scale and I said 3. Years ago when I was in pain with no diagnosis or treatment, I had said 8.

It took me four years of constant pain to get diagnosis and treatment for my chronic pain condition. It took my whole life to be diagnosed with HSD. After 10 years of abdominal pain, I am finally having surgery this month.

Even though it takes way too fucking long, you will get a diagnosis and treatment. Someday your pain will be lessened and you will get that medication or that surgery that will change your life.

It will get better. Don't give up hope.

Since blindness is a spectrum, I was wondering at what point someone stops being vision impaired and starts being blind. I’m vision madly impaired and I’m definitely not blind but I’d imagine the lines could get murky the less vision someone has. Is there a defined cut off point or is it more based on which term someone identifies with more?

The blindness spectrum starts when vision is still not great even with best correction in the eye with the best sight. This is why people with vision that can be corrected with glasses or surgery are not considered blind, at least by medical standards. People who don’t have access to these correction options may have a different experience and might use any number of terms.

This means that, in a way, there is indeed a defined cut-off point. However, this can get complicated because people might identify more with certain terms. This is even more complicated by the myth that blind always equals total blindness with no vision at all, when in fact total blindness makes up a small percentage of the blind community. Lastly, it is important to remember that not everyone has access to best correction, such as glasses.

I’ll throw out a few reasons people might use each term and if anyone has other ideas or wants to share their experience, they can let me know and I can edit the post to include them. Disclaimer that these are all ideas and I am not speaking for the blind community as a whole.

Possible Reasons for using the term “visually impaired”:

-it’s what they were taught to use

-they wear glasses/sunglasses and would like to do so without being questioned about it

-they might feel it carries less stigma

-internalized ableism, wanting to distance themselves from the blind community, or lack of awareness about the spectrum of blindness

-accommodating other peoples’ lack of awareness or understanding of the spectrum of blindness

-avoiding arguments with people who say they aren’t blind

-not feeling “blind enough”

-cultural reasons or reasons related to what translates best in terms of language, especially considering legally or registered blind doesn’t always translate well or have an equivalent in all languages

-wanting to reduce ableism they experience from other people

-they might still be used to saying “visually impaired” after progressive vision changes

-they want to convey that their level of vision changes

-they want to make it clear they still have residual vision

-the term ‘impaired’ causes others to consider their visually impairment seriously

Downfalls or problems with using this term might include negative connotations with the word ‘impaired’ depending on how the person or cultural they are part of views it, difficulty accessing accommodations or assistance, disaffiliation from the blind community, or perhaps internalized ableism.

Possible Reasons people might use “legally blind, registered blind, or another equivalent”:

-identification with the blind community

-cultural or language reasons

-they may feel this accurately conveys having residual vision while still being blind

-wanting to educate others about the spectrum of blindness

-making sure other people take their blindness seriously

-accessing accommodations, government assistance, or programs such as orientation and mobility training

However, downfalls of using this term include confusion from others, translation concerns, ableism from those who don’t understand the term used, or feeling as if they are not “blind enough”.

Possible Reasons people might use the term “blind”:

-they are used to using it

-short-hand for “totally blind”

-cultural or language reasons

-they do not have any residual vision

-they have minimal residual vision or their vision changed

-they experience progressive vision changes

-they have light and shadow perception, but nothing beyond that

-connection with the blind community

-simple and easier for others to understand

-less pressure to rely on residual vision

-education about the spectrum of blindness

-wanting others to take their blindness seriously

-accessing accommodations, government assistance, or programs such as orientation and mobility training

-reducing confusion from others

However, downfalls of this terms can still include confusion from others, ableism, lack of access, internalized ableism, assumptions from others about level of vision, etc.

Some reasons for using certain terms can be contradictory. Some may be caused by ableism when in fact everyone on the blindness spectrum experiences ableism. Some may be the only option that person has.

Or they just like certain terms. Who knows.
