some day I'd love to grow beans on a trellis big enough that they don't have to double over at the top. really Jack And The Beanstalk it.
#I would need an enthusiastic able-bodied friend with a ladder to actually *pick* most of them#but I think this could be arranged#you'd think that the approximately ten feet they have on the porch would be enough but it's absolutely not#a couple tendrils have reached the top and then grown out and down so far I can basically Creation of Adam them from my hammock

Lying on the porch hammock in a summer rainstorm is such a beautiful feeling
#every time we get a severe thunderstorm warning I spend the duration making big wet eyes at the National Weather Service#a thunderstorm?? do you *promise??*#the garden needs it and so do I

This is what I mean when I say I’m allergic to posting finished pieces I’ve had this done for MONTHS.
It does not wrap around my waist twice like I wanted because my tension was so hysterically bad at the end that I just couldn’t work with it, one warp string must have slipped while I was winding it on. Still wearable though so I’m okay with that.
Honestly obsessed with the braided fringe, it’s so much easier for me to do than a twist and I think it looks cooler.

love the library. there's no risk. you can take out a book and go "wow this sucks" and just give it back. and when you do that you're still making the library's Number Go Up so you'll be able to roll the dice on even more books. all for the low low price of free/you already paid for it with your tax money so you might as well use it
#it's the best!#I have been slowly working my way through every plant-related book the library system has#and some of them are great and now I get to put them on my list of Books To Own Someday#however. some of them. are Bad.

Been fighting with the world's slinkiest rayon (for a dress I'm intending to wear to an event two days from now hahaha) and taking comfort in the fact that at least I'm not one of those people who sews a lot of spandex
#I don't do much cosplay these days but even when I did I looked at the superhero people with fear and awe#why would you do that to yourself?#anyway I'm just gonna sew up the main pieces and worry about the hems not being remotely squared with anything . . . later#but first I am going to collapse in bed pathetically

Drop spindle dangerous. Accidentally spent 6 hours spinning yesterday.
#Respect The Spindle is great!!#got it out of the library and really want a copy of my own#also this is very true#I spin slowly now and don't really leave the house because of The Curse#but back in college I took my spindle everywhere and I got so much done just in the few minutes between classes

thanks to whoever decided to include a magnifying glass with the Compact Oxford English Dictionary I inherited from my grandpa it's both very funny and helpful for many household situations
#recently thought wow I wish we had a magnifying glass so I could look for bugs#and lo and behold we not only have one but I know exactly where to find it (special magnifying glass drawer in the two-volume boxed OED set)

reblogged the "closeness over time post" and then forced myself to message several of my dearest and oldest friends who I haven't talked to in a while. I *will* tug those lines closer together again, despite everything

I think it's actually cool and great not to have any especially specific descriptors for your gender and/or orientation. just do whatever you want. yeehaw.

You see I too often sat in school classes and thought “when am I ever going to need this, I’m never going to be an engineer, I’m never gonna be a scientist, I’m never gonna be a linguist” and then I grew up and it turns out a lot of bigots and cults and scams and grifts hinge their entire business model on you just. Not knowing what a protein is or some shit
#the vinegar one annoys me so much#PLEASE just tell me if a mild acid will be useful in this situation instead of acting like vinegar has mystical powers#also acting like 'natural' and 'chemicals' are opposites#EVERYTHING IS MADE OUT OF CHEMICALS!!#are there *specific* chemicals with negative effects that you should avoid?#yeah obviously#but you cannot avoid Chemicals In General unless you live in a sterile vacuum#was looking up some soapmaking info recently and it drives me absolutely batty#to see the '100% natural no harsh chemicals only wholesome ingredients💖🌻💖' schtick#applied to something where one of the main ingredients is. lye.#famously wholesome and safe and not a chemical!#why are people so weird I just want to be able to find real information instead of a bunch of mystic nonsense

*levels a gun (spray bottle of 0.08% solution of copper octanoate) at the disease-causing fungal spores in my garden* Listen buddy I may not be able to kill you in a way that matters but I can sure as hell inconvenience you until the next rain
