Stephanie (slamming her fist on the table and unleashing her monthly curse word): What the fuck does that even mean? No, seriously, what the fuck does that even mean? If he's looking for dating advice from a female, why the flying fuck wouldn't he come to me? Where the hell is he? Damian!

Stephanie stormed off to find the young boy, with Tim trailing behind her, trying to pull her back. It was too late; she kicked open the door to the art room where Damian was painting.

Stephanie: Too female? Too female? If you've got something to say about me, say it to my face!

Damian (backing up): I was just—

Stephanie: Why the seven sectors of hell wouldn't I give good advice? I have a solid track record with men!

Damian: I mean—

Stephanie: You were raised by Talia Al Ghul! She’s not perfect, but she is a female… I’m telling on you!

Stephanie dashed out, eager to score a point, leaving Damian's skin pale with fear. Damian ran after her as Tim stepped out the way with his arms crossed and smirking.

Damian: Wait, wait! I was recovering from a concussion! I wasn't in my right mind!

A son's first hero, a daughter's first love

Pairing: Aegon II and Helaena. So, canonical and typical TargIncest. You've been warned. I know some people dislike it so if you're not comfortable, just skip this and (eventually) see you next time ☺️

Other characters: Jaehaerys, Jaehaera and yet to be born Maelor.

Word counts: 1,300 circa

Warnings: as I already said, canonic Targaryen incest, hint of smut (just a hint, very very soft) at the beginning, but basically a lot of fluff. In my head it was all about dad!Aegon but it turns out differently while writing it down. OOC, obviously. A bit of swearing.

A/N: no, i'm not at all amused about how the showrunners depicted Aegon. He's not a saint and we all know, but it's not a total imbecile. And his relation to Helaena is deeper in the book. I wanted to give these two poor souls a bit of happiness like we all deserve. Also, I love these children so much.

A/N 2: I'm not used to write about Aegon (my allegiance is for Aemond), so I hope I didn't made a mess. Also, not so good with titles, sorry 🤷🏻‍♀️

English is not my first language and I still made a mess with verbs, so please be gentle.

The storm had approached quickly, surprising the Red Keep and its inhabitants during the hour of the wolf.

Aegon rubbed his eyes, watching the pouring rain pelting down on the windows as a lightning illuminated the whole chamber.

Helaena protested with a soft moan as he lift the covers, allowing the cold air of the room to creep in between the sheets, and she slipped further under the warm layers, shivering.

She widened her eyes as soon as she became aware of the lightening, curling up under the covers in anticipation of the thunder that would come shortly, glimpsing Aegon sitting on the edge of the bed, stretching himself.

She reached out a hand toward him, braving the coldness, and got his attention after resting it on the center of his bare back. Aegon jerked at the sudden contact, shuddering and jumping out of the bed with a surprised shriek.

"Fuck, Hel! Your hand is a… is a block of ice!"

"Is it? Oh, sorry, my bad."

"You little liar, you're not sorry at all."

He crawls back onto the bed, tucking his hands under the covers and pulling Helaena toward him by the ankles, making her laugh.

"I have chills even where I shouldn't have them, thanks to you." he said, settling on all fours and towering over her. "What am I supposed to do now? As a minimum, to make amends, you have to warm me up. If nothing else, at least my hands."

Understanding where Aegon was trying to go with this, Helaena tried to escape, but he trapped her beneath him.

"Don't you even try." she admonished him, trying to give her words a tone as serious as possible. "Aegon, I mean it, don't ... ah!"

He slipped a hand under her back, just above her bottom, snickering amusedly on her lips at her gasp.

"There, that's much better now."

"You're unfair, I cannot move and now I'm colder than before." protested Helaena, placing her hands on his sides before tickling him. Aegon groaned in between laughing, trying hard not to collapse on her.

"Hel, stop."

Aegon leaned in to kiss her in an attempt to stop the tickle, feeling his cock already getting hard; settling down on a side, he then stroked her slowly, his palm wide open on her skin to savour every inch of Helaena's body, grasping gently a swollen breast, her round belly and at last, reaching down between her legs to discover that she was as aroused as him.

"Looks like you're not cold everywhere…" Aegon teased, stroking gently her warm folds, moving his fingers a little down. "Turn on your side, Hel."

A thunder more violent than the previous ones made her scream in fear, and Aegon clearly heard noises from the twins' room.

"Sorry…" murmured Helaena, scared.

"What for? You're safe, don't worry. We will come back to this later, I promise." he shushed her reassuringly, shrieking again when his feet touched the icy floor, headed to the small basin to wash his hands. "Fuck it's cold! It's so fucking cold!"

"We're in winter after all…"

"How strange however, a thunderstorm at this time of the year." he commented almost mindlessly, trying to reach his clothes scattered all over: the tunic half hanged on the backrest of an armchair, his breeches on another armchair, Helaena's nightgown on the rug near the fireplace where he had carelessly thrown it hours before, when he had nearly tore it off her body, eager to undress her.

"Here, put it on before you catch a cold." he coaxes, helping Helaena to wear the garment. "Stay under the blankets, Hel, I'll relight the fire."

Doing what Aegon had told her, Helaena watched him relighting the fire, their love skirmishes now forgotten.

"What a fortune we don't live at Storm's End… can you imagine it? A storm almost each day… must be exhausting."

Helaena chuckled a bit, avoiding to correct Aegon: that story about Storm's End battered by thunderstorms every day was nothing but a legend. 

"...what are you doing?" she asked, looking at him questioningly when, shortly after, she saw him lacing up his breeches.

"I'm getting dressed."

"I do see that, but why?"

"Because in a few minutes we will no longer be alone. And we certainly don't want our children to see something they shouldn't, do we?" was Aegon's amused reply, as another thunder seemed to rip the sky.

"Right... Jaehaera fears thunders."

And then, as Aegon had predicted, the squeak of the door's hinges and the patter of Jaehaera's light, childish steps on the stone floor.

"Daddy?" she called him, in a barely audible voice.

He turned towards Helaena, an expression in his eyes as if to say: see?

"Come in, baby, I'm over here."

Frightened, Jaehaera had reached their room in haste, barefoot and only in her nightgown, clutching her favourite puppet to her chest.

"Here you are, I was waiting for you." he smiled, picking her up and feeling soon after her little legs encircling his waist, her little body shuddering both for fear and cold, her voice faint and shaky.

"I'm scared of thunders, daddy."

"I know, sweetie, mum is scared too. But have no fear, I'm here. I'll take Sunfyre and we'll fight them until you'll be safe!" proclaimed Aegon, drawing an imaginary sword. "Rawrrr, beware of you, damn thunders!!!"

"Nooo! Stay with me!"

"Fine... let's sneak under the blanket until the storm is gone. You too Jaehaerys, I know you're behind the armchair."

The little boy followed his sister shortly after, climbing into the bed and settling between his twin and Helaena.

Another lightning, in anticipation of it's thunder.

"Shoo them away daddy."

"Uh... I'll see what I can do, but in the meantime, how about a hug? Would that be good?"

Aegon settled on his back, pulling Jaehaera to him and inducing her to rest her head on his heart, careful to cover the other ear with one hand as to shield it from the increasingly loud thunders outside.

"Here, listen to my heart. You are safe now, love, don't be scared."

"It's getting closer and closer." noticed Helaena.

Aegon reached out a hand, brushing her cheek with his knuckles.

"It will be over in no time, you'll see."

Jaeherys hugged his mother trying to imitate the embrace in which Aegon had enclosed Jaehaera.

"Here mummy, I'll protect you." he said, imitating Aegon's gestures and patting his little hand over his heart in a sort of invitation.

Helaena smiled lovingly, resting her head on her son's chest but without weighing on him.

"You are safe, mummy, fear not!"

"Be gentle Jaehaerys, your mum is carrying a baby." Aegon interjected, still stroking Jaehaera's back. When he noticed his wife's gaze upon him, he turned his head towards her. "What?"

"I've told you, you're a great dad."

He didn't tell her how much those words meant to him, to know that he was and would be a better father to their children than Viserys had been to the two of them, to Aemond, to Daeron. He did not remember ever receiving affection from him, because Viserys had reserved it only for Rhaenyra.

He looked at Jaehaera resting on his chest, stroking her silvery hair: the only thought of the endless trust his little girl had in him and how much love he felt for her, her brother, and for the little one who was about to arrive, was sufficient to make him cry in joy.

"I want them to know that they're loved. They're so loved. You're everything good that I have in my life even if sometimes I'm a mess."

"We're all a mess, in our own way. We just need to find how to put together the pieces. Look: the storm is gone."

On the one hand Ashton hates and distrusts authority figures because most of the ones he’s known (with a handful of notable exceptions since meeting Bell’s Hells) have been assholes who have used and/or hurt them.

On the other hand, down deep (or maybe not so deep, really) Ashton is still the orphaned child constantly searching for a parent’s love and approval.

If the Bright Queen ever figures that out, she’s going to be able to manipulate them into doing whatever she wants. Forget having to have Chet or a bounty hunter deliver Ash to her, he’ll walk into that gilded cage willingly. Add into the bargain the chance to understand themselves better and no longer be a risk to the people he cares about? They’d be lost before they even realized they’d given away their freedom.

Assuming they all survive the upcoming missions, Bell’s Hells should start working on their rescue plans asap. Luckily, they’re about to meet a crew of adventurers who might have some useful advice for them.

People often parade the "what was aragorn's tax policy" as a famous grrm quote, but often ignore this one which follows, which is way more interesting and reflects better the priorities of George as a writer. And it's even more interesting how the man himself proceeded to answer to this question with Elden Ring, specifically with Marika's backstory and her subsequent genocide of the Hornsent.

Marika herself seems to be the character that's hero whose journey has long ended, the little girl whose village got razed and came back for vengeance against the evil, demonic looking overlords who killed her family and stuck them in jars. But, this time, we are shown full on her vengeance, she did pursue a policy of genocide, she had pacific churches that had nothing to do with the jarring of shamans, cause old women to be imprisoned and battered t best (and at worse SA'd if you intepret the Grandam's lines in that way), and have baby hornsent in their little hornsent cradles (as the Hornsent dialogue that plays if you don't summon him for Messmer says). We are fully shown the length that the hero's "rightful vengeance" and "reconciliation of the land", and by lord above if it isn't an awful, brutal one

Sorry that the chapters are so short, but it’s the only way I can make them while still doing all my other projects… anyway, here’s chapter 1! Enjoy!

If it were possible, I’d do a show like this… just maybe without the backgrounds looking the way they are… I need to learn how to colour backgrounds properly… whenever I do it, it never turns out right… so I took the lazy route and made everything monochromatic-ish. Help.

The do‘s and don’ts of fic reviews

Because a friend told me she never knows what to write and then never comments, but wants to learn how to do better, I thought I’d compile a list, and maybe it will help someone else as well!

As always, this is unofficial and just from my personal experience writing and reading fic, and talking with other fic authors.

What to comment

Honestly, authors love friendly comments, no matter how small. Here are some ideas for short comments you can write to pretty much any fic you enjoyed:

If you want to write something a bit longer, you can for example

Tell the author where you have been reading the fic or what you were doing while reading it

Tell the author what you should have been doing instead of reading fanfic (and that it was worth it to read the fic)

Copy a passage (or several) from the fic you particularly enjoyed

Did the author write a note at the end or beginning of the fic? Maybe even ask a question? Sometimes you can reply to author’s notes in your comment

How did the fic make you feel? Happy, made you cry, made you laugh, made you jealous of a character, or made you want to punch an antagonistic character’s nose in? Write it in the comment!

Is it your first fic in a fandom or with a ship? Your favorite fic in a fandom, or with a specific character? Did you read it in one go? Did you savour it slowly reading over days or weeks? Have you enjoyed every update of a multi-chapter? Do you wish you could read it again for the first time? Write anything you want to let the author know about your reading experience!

Is there a character you particularly enjoyed in that fic/chapter? Tell the author you think they wrote xy character really well!

You can always start or finish your comment with one of the suggestions from the short comments to make sure the author knows you liked it :)

If you really don’t know what to write, or are reading fic in a language not your own (though authors usually don’t mind you commenting in your native language) and aren’t comfortable commenting in either language, you can also leave emojis as comments, for example variations of:

for any fics:❤️💕💜💗💞💓💖💟🤩😍🥰

for humor fics: 😂😆🤣🤪💯

Don’ts

There isn’t much you can do wrong when writing comments on fic, but there are a few things you should keep in mind:

don’t criticize (unless negative critics/what they can do better has been specifically asked for by the author, and then stick to the kind of criticism asked for, and best try to include something positive too to soften the blow)

don’t demand more/ask for updates - you can tell the author you’d read it if they wrote more, but don’t put pressure on them, you don’t know what’s happening in their lives right now and for what reason new entries might have slowed down, and they don’t owe you regular or any updates!

don’t tell them what to write (unless the author is taking prompts, and in most cases the comment section is not the right place for prompts, check what the author specified)

Remember: Fan fiction are free, from fans for fans, so etiquette is a bit different than in the Amazon reviews of books you paid good money for! Fic authors don’t have to cater to you, just enjoy that there are fics shared with the fandom :) If you don’t like something, or don’t like a part of something, either close the tab or quietly ignore the issue and just enjoy the parts you do like.

And in general, to end this on a positive note:

Yes, you can comment on older fanfics!

Yes, comment on several fics in a row if you’re reading through fics by one author!

Yes, comment on as many chapters of the same fic as you like!

Yes, you can make art for the fic and tell the author about it!

Yes, absolutely tell the author if you’re still thinking about a fic hours/days/years… after reading it!

Yes, send authors asks on tumblr/other sites talking about how you love their fics, if they link these sites in the author’s notes! (But also comment on Ao3)

Yes, you can comment/review even if you don’t have an account (at least on Ao3 and ffnet)!

Yes, please let the author know if you’re reading a fic for a second time, even if you just write ‘re-read kudos!’

The best comments are also written directly on the site the fanfiction got posted on (so usually ao3/ffnet and not tumblr/discord), both because it makes the note count higher, and because then the comment won’t quickly get buried under unrelated messages or posts.

If you want to leave long comments about different parts of a fic or chapter, you can also make use of the floating Ao3 comment box! It allows you to type your comment while you're still reading, without having to leave the page!
