I really love the way the Christians in my church will look at me when I talk about things that interest me, like video games and anime and manga. They often look like they just want to tell me to grow tf up. They look like they never once considered the possibility that maybe God gave me these interests so that I can relate to certain other people in this world, people who have, themselves, been deemed as outcasts by the Christian community for their love of games and anime and manga.
God doesn't just sit in a church and preach. He can't only be found by volunteering for non-profit religious groups. "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might" (Ecclesiastes 9:10). Do you know why this verse is in there? Okay, yeah, part of it is because people like to be lazy and they need to be reminded that God made us to work for Him. But I think it's partly also because God sometimes gives the "uncomely members" of the church (1 Corinthians 12:23) talents and/or interests that are niche or cringe. And He expects us to use those talents and interests, no matter how small and insignificant they might seem to be (Matthew 25:14-30).
Not everything that comes into our hearts and minds is from God (in fact, a good majority of it is NOT), but if you enjoy something that doesn't go against God's Word, then maybe, just maybe that thing IS from God, and maybe you should get to explore it and enjoy it and give God a chance to show you whether He wants you to use it or not.
Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4
The meaning of this verse is somewhat debated. No one can decide whether it means that God will give you the things that you desire, or whether He gives you the desires themselves. So I think it means both. He gives you the desire itself, and then He makes something out of it.

When You Don't Know What to Do (Ps 37:1-7)
When You Don’t Know What to Do (Ps 37:1-7)
The following is an unedited sermon manuscript; for an explanation of my sermon manuscripts, click here.*Originally preached December 18th, 2022* Faith invites risk. “Trust” is a great synonym for “faith,” and may be a more helpful word for us. ‘Trust’ implies confidence in another to be or do what they said they would be or do. But it also implies a gap between our knowledge and our experience.…

The Lord's Law for the Lost and for the Rescued (257) - August 3 2024
Choose your Podcast App to Play this episode Romans 3:20 (AMPC) states that [the real function of] the Law is to make men recognize and be conscious of sin [not mere perception, but an acquaintance with sin which works toward repentance, faith, and holy character]. For the born-again believer in Christ, Romans 6:14 shows they are no longer under the Law as slaves, but under grace as subjects of…

A Clean Heart
Psalm 73: 1-3. [[A Psalm of Asaph.]] Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. Asaph was an organizer and leader for the temple choirs in the days of David, and presumably for Solomon after him. He was one who prophesied…

Be strong and courageous
Back in the day, my brothers and I would have tons of people over at the house playing video games in our room, which my dad always hated. I had this friend Geoff, who I looked up to mainly because he was really good at basketball. We were conversing about what we would do if we saw someone about to get shot. Without hesitation, I said, “I’d take the bullet for them” Geoff looked at me perplexed…

Psalm 37:5,7 'Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him and He will do this..Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him.
Sometimes it's hard to understand why God doesn't allow things to happen straightaway. An important lesson that I am continuing to learn each day is that God works things out in His own perfect timing.
'There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.' Ecclesiastes 3:1
Perhaps God wants you to wait for a time before He gives you your desires. Every gift that comes from God is worth waiting for. In the Bible, there are lots of examples of where we see God's children being made to wait before their prayers are answered. In 1 Samuel chapter 1, we read how Hannah had to wait for a child, she wept and prayed out of great anguish before the Lord and He answered her prayers.
Habakkuk 2:3 tells us ...'For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it lingers, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.'
Wait patiently on the Lord, trust in Jesus and He will work things out for you.
The most important point to remember is that God loves you and He wants the best for you.

Don't worry about the wicked        or envy those who do wrong. — Psalm 37:1
Insight
We should never envy evil people, even though some may be extremely popular or excessively rich. No matter how much they have, it will fade and vanish like grass that withers and dies.
Challenge
Those who follow God live differently from the wicked and, in the end, will have far greater treasures in heaven. What the unbeliever gets may last a lifetime, if he is lucky. What you get from following God lasts forever.

As a Christian, I've noticed the days are getting harder. So many people have been influenced by the devil, and his hold has gotten stronger. The spiritual warfare that one may feel can be sometimes too much.
But it's never impossible. God is with you. He's there to make sure you don't fall. And He's kept His promises - even the ones that haven't happened yet.
Have faith. The battle isn't over yet for you, but it's already been won.
Psalm 37:23-24
"The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand. "
Luke 1:37
"For no word from God will ever fail."
