Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT). [5] “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. [6] Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
Exodus 2:11-15, 23-25 (NLT). [11] “Many years later, when Moses had grown up, he went out to visit his own people, the Hebrews, and he saw how hard they were forced to work. During his visit, he saw an Egyptian beating one of his fellow Hebrews. [12] After looking in all directions to make sure no one was watching, Moses killed the Egyptian and hid the body in the sand. [13] The next day, when Moses went out to visit his people again, he saw two Hebrew men fighting. “Why are you beating up your friend?” Moses said to the one who had started the fight. [14] The man replied, “Who appointed you to be our prince and judge? Are you going to kill me as you killed that Egyptian yesterday?” Then Moses was afraid, thinking, “Everyone knows what I did.” [15] And sure enough, Pharaoh heard what had happened, and he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in the land of Midian...[23] Years passed, and the king of Egypt died. But the Israelites continued to groan under their burden of slavery. They cried out for help, and their cry rose up to God. [24] God heard their groaning, and he remembered his covenant promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. [25] He looked down on the people of Israel and knew it was time to act.”
“Our Way or God’s Way” by In Touch Ministries:
“Relying on our own knowledge and strength robs us of the blessings that come from following God.”
“Whenever challenges come into our life, there are two ways we can respond to them: God’s way or ours. Moses is an example of a man who tried out both options. In today’s passage, we see him taking matters into his own hands. Although his motives were pure, his method was wrong. Moses made three mistakes.
1. He focused on the difficulty. How often have we done the same thing? The unfairness or pain of a situation grabs our attention, and in our desire for a solution, we act without first seeking the Lord.
2. He relied on his own strength and understanding. When a problem arises, the most natural response is to do what we can to fix it. However, God wants us to rely on Him, not on ourselves (Proverbs 3:5-6).
3. He acted impulsively. If a situation seems urgent, fixing the problem as fast as possible becomes our top priority. In our haste, we’re likely to forgo waiting on the Lord.
We’ve all followed Moses’ example at some point and suffered the consequences of self-reliance. But notice that God didn’t reject Moses or cancel the divine plan for his life. Instead, He refined the future leader’s character through trials and gave him another chance—and He’ll do the same for us.”

Proverbs Daily Reflection – January 7, 2025
Good morning, God bless you! Proverbs 7:3 "Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart." #josephmekaelpageministries
Proverbs 7:3 Reflection “Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.” This verse reminds us to keep the Word of God as the most important foundation in our lives. Just as Jesus instructed the rich young ruler, “If you want to enter life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17), we are called to actively integrate God’s Word into our thoughts, actions, and daily routines.…

Brand New Year
Not January 1st New Year – but a brand-new school year! Lots of online photos of “first day of school” for many young students and even my Brennan’s first day of school at University of Mary Hardin Baylor. I went into Walmart for a quick few items, and saw many parents and their children loading up their carts with school supplies. Where I live, providing school supplies by our residents was one…

Abortion is Murder & Unbiblical
The Bible does not use the word abortion. How could it? The term itself as a procedure wasn't invented yet! However, the Bible does cover:
Humanity's inherent value and rights as (uniquely among creation) made in the image of God
Murder
Child/infant murder as something abhorrent to God
Life's beginnings, indirectly (although that also has biological support)
Legal ramifications of killing a child in the womb
How God sees and interacts with children in the womb
How we as His followers are meant to treat children
What He expects us to do for the defenseless and vulnerable (i.e., the most defenseless and vulnerable human imaginable is the one in the womb)
And how the question of following Him and His Word is what makes or breaks the difference between a Christian and someone who claims the name but is tragically unsaved  Below are some verses and some additional explication (partial credit: @glowsticks-and-jesus)
Proverbs 31:8
Luke 1:44
2nd Kings 17:17
Jeremiah 19:5
Genesis 9:6
Exodus 21:22-25
Matthew 7:20 - 23
John 15:14
1st John 1:5-10, 2:3-6
Exodus 20:13
Mark 10:13-15 Leviticus 20:3-5 (https://biblehub.com/hebrew/mizzaro_2233.htm)
Matthew 18:10, 14
Psalm 22:10
Jacob & Esau, John the Baptist, Samson, etc.
Judges 16:17  Glowsticks-and-Jesus Collection:
"Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.'"Jeremiah 1:4-5
"The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name."Isaiah 49:1
John the Baptist leaped in Elizabeth’s womb when Mary greeted her cousin (Luke 1:39-45), an example that babies in utero are responsive human beings already aware of the outside world.
The righteous Hebrew midwives at the time of Moses pleased God by saving babies deemed unworthy of life by the authorities of their day (Ex. 1:15-21).
As an additional note -- these references are included above, but worth a second mention -- it's plain that child sacrifice - child murder - is something that God abhors and explicitly does not command. I'd look here (https://biblehub.com/jeremiah/19-5.htm) and here (https://biblehub.com/2_kings/17-17.htm) and check out the cross-references as well. Likewise, there is direct support for laws against murder and the protection of the unborn (up to capital punishment) in the Bible (Genesis 9:6; Exodus 21:22-25  -- an additional reference here included about the common misunderstanding of the latter verses: https://www.str.org/w/what-exodus-21-22-says-about-abortion).
In summary -- it's possible (although, I believe, it does deprive its proponents of a foundational basis for the value of life) to be both secular and anti-abortion. But it is not possible for a Christian who truly understands their faith, their God, and His Word to be pro-abortion.

Qinat Be'eri (A Lamentation for Be'eri) by Yagel Haroush
youtube
Yagel Haroush is a singer, a kamancheh and ney player, a poet, a composer of piyutim (traditional religious songs) and a teacher of Middle Eastern music. After completing his studies at the Jerusalem Academy of Music, Yagel earned a master’s degree in philosophy at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and was awarded the Daoud Al-Kuwaiti Scholarship for musical excellence. Yagel specializes in performing and composing music based on maqam, the Middle Eastern modal system. He studied the Persian form of maqam, known as dastgah, with Prof. Piris Eliyahu and his son Mark Eliyahu, and Arab maqam with Prof. Taiseer Elias. As a child, he absorbed the liturgical poetic tradition of the Moroccan piyut (religious song) at his grandfather’s home in the southern Israeli city of Dimona, where every Shabbat, a group of paytanim (composers and singers of piyutim) would gather. Later, he delved into the secrets of the baqashot (“supplications”), a Sephardic mystical singing tradition practiced by Moroccan Jews. Yagel’s ensemble, Shir Yididot, performs original reinterpretations of this tradition that situate the baqashot within the broader context of Middle Eastern mystical song. The group released its debut album in 2016. Yagel is also the founder of the Study Center for Makam and Piyut, where he teaches composition and performance, as well as theoretical performance studies based on Jewish sources – philosophy, Kabbalah and Midrash. He also founded the School of Oriental Music in the Negev in the town of Yeruham, and Kedem, a school for composition in the spirit of maqam in Jerusalem.
Qinat Be’eri was written by Yagel Haroush in the month of Marḥeshban after the massacres on 7 October and disseminated on social media. (The text of the qinah here is as shared on the website Kipa on 7 January 2024.) The initial English translation and notes was shared by Yosef Goldman and Josh Fleet. (These notes were very lightly edited for clarity.) On Tishah b’Av, a second English translation was offered by Dr. Susan Weingarten. –Aharon Varady

Eikhah [1] – Alas! my well [2] has turned into my grave. And the day of my light [3] has become my darkness And all fruit has been destroyed and my singing overturned. My eyes pour forth water [4] from the depth of my brokenness.
Eikhah — Israel on a day of calling to God. Life was requested but chaos received Elder and infant wallow in blood. [6] His festival desecrated by a merciless enemy. My eyes pour forth water from the depth of my brokenness.
Eikhah — mothers, girls, and young women Taken into captivity as in the days of pogroms And fences were breached righteous sheep And the dancing ceased and the songs of my singers My eyes pour forth water from the depth of my brokenness
And eikhah — I wonder, you who enobled her — How long shall a nation live in upheaval How long shall her stature be brought low to the ground And now, arise to kindle my lamp [7] And from the wellsprings of your mercy heal my brokenness And my eye [8] that pours forth will water Be’eri
The opening word of the Book of Lamentations, “איכה” — translated as “alas!” or “how?!?” — is often used in Jewish poetry of lament — ḳinnot — that memorialize the Jewish people, from the liturgy for mourning the Temple’s destruction to today.
Be’eri means “my well.” [Be’eri here also refers to Kibbutz Be’eri, the site of one of the massacres that took place on 7 October 2023. — ANV]
A reference to the festival of Simḥat Torah on which the massacres took place. In TaNaKh and Rabbinic literature, Torah is compared to both light and water. “For the commandment is a lamp, the teaching of Torah is a light” (Proverbs 6:23) and “A flowing stream, a fountain of wisdom” (Proverbs 18:4). Also find Shir haShirim Rabbah 1:2.
"For these do I weep, my eyes flow with tears; far from me is a comforter who might revive my spirit; my children are forlorn, for the foe has prevailed” (Lamentations 1:16)
i.e. Simḥat Torah.
Find Ezekiel 15:6, “When I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you: ‘Live despite your blood’…”
It is you who light my lamp; YHVH my elo’ah lights up my darkness” (Psalms 18:29).
Hebrew, עין (‘ayin), means both “spring” and “eye.”

mini Bible study: sin & its consequences
What is sin?
"All wrongdoing is sin." (1 John 5:17)
"If anyone knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do it, it is sin for them." (James 4:17)
Sin brings destruction. God wants us to avoid sin not because he wants us to follow rules, but because He wants us to avoid what will destroy us both in this life and in the afterlife.
"Live right, and you are safe! But sin will destroy you" (Proverbs 13:6)
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 6:23)
Everybody has sinned, since the very first person in the garden of Eden. But by believing in Jesus Christ, who was perfect and did not sin, yet was sacrificed on the cross for all people, we are saved from death.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:23-24)
"For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:2)
***Even though all have sinned, this does not mean that we are free to make a practice of sinning after we are saved. We must repent if we sin and pray for the strength from God if we struggle with habitual sin.
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

The father of a righteous child has great joy; a man who fathers a wise son rejoices in him. Let your father and mother be glad; let her who bore you rejoice. Proverbs 23:24-25
Parents are saddened when their children walk in disobedience and rebellion. On the other hand when they see their children walking in the truth they rejoice. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. (3 John 1:4)
Godly children love and respect their parents. Out of gratitude towards them they do things that would cause them to rejoice.
On this mother's day, take a moment to introspect, " Do I bring joy to my mother or have I been the cause of her heartache?
Live in such a way that your mother will be proud of you and say, "I am blessed to have a child like you."
Listen to your father, who gave you life, and don’t despise your mother when she is old. Proverbs 23:22
Be kind and loving to your mother always, that's how you repay her for the years she cared for you.

Practical steps to help you grow in your faith. (via. ChatGPT)
1. Cultivate a Personal Relationship with Jesus
• Daily Prayer: Make time to pray each day. Share your thoughts, fears, and gratitude with Jesus as you would with a trusted friend. Remember to listen as well, seeking His guidance.
• Scripture Reading: Dive into God’s Word regularly. Start with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) to understand Jesus’ life, teachings, and heart for humanity. Reflect on how His words apply to your life.
• Be Honest with Him: Jesus already knows your heart (as seen in John 2:24-25). Don’t hesitate to bring your doubts, struggles, or joys to Him.
2. Strengthen Your Foundation in Faith
• Study the Bible Deeply: Go beyond surface-level reading by studying the context, background, and meaning of passages. Use study guides or commentaries to gain deeper insight.
• Memorize Scripture: Commit key verses to memory. This will help you rely on God’s truth in challenging times. For example:
• Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart…”
• Philippians 4:6-7: “Do not be anxious about anything…”
• Understand Theology: Explore the core beliefs of Christianity to deepen your understanding of God’s character and His plan for humanity.
3. Build a Life of Worship
• Worship Regularly: Worship isn’t just singing—it’s a lifestyle of honoring God in everything you do. Make time to express your love and gratitude to Him through worship, both privately and in a church community.
• Live for His Glory: Seek to glorify God in your daily actions—whether at work, in relationships, or in how you treat others.
4. Be Part of a Community of Faith
• Join a Church: Being part of a local church allows you to grow alongside others, receive support, and learn from experienced believers.
• Participate in Bible Studies or Small Groups: These provide opportunities to discuss scripture, share experiences, and gain accountability.
• Serve Others: Jesus modeled servanthood. Look for ways to serve in your church, community, or even your own home. Acts of service help us reflect God’s love to others.
5. Trust God in Difficult Seasons
• Life isn’t always easy, but faith grows strongest in trials. Surrender your struggles to Jesus, trusting that He will guide you and work all things for your good (Romans 8:28).
• Develop a habit of thanksgiving, even in tough times. Gratitude shifts your perspective and reminds you of God’s faithfulness.
6. Share Your Faith
• Tell others about Jesus—not just through words but also by living a life that reflects His love and grace. Let your actions speak of your relationship with Him.
• Pray for opportunities to share your testimony. Your story can inspire and draw others to Christ.
7. Pursue Continuous Growth
• Read Christian Books: Authors like C.S. Lewis (Mere Christianity) or A.W. Tozer (The Pursuit of God) provide deep insights into faith and spiritual growth.
• Attend Workshops or Seminars: Look for events or conferences in your area focused on deepening your spiritual life.
• Embrace Discipline: Set spiritual goals, like fasting, journaling prayers, or taking quiet retreats to focus on your relationship with God.
8. Rely on the Holy Spirit
• The Holy Spirit helps us grow in faith and gives us the strength to live as followers of Christ. Pray for the Spirit’s guidance and empowerment in your daily life.
• Galatians 5:22-23 reminds us of the fruit the Spirit cultivates in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Reflective Questions to Deepen Your Faith:
1. Do I truly believe Jesus knows my heart and loves me unconditionally?
2. How can I make more room in my daily life for prayer and scripture reading?
3. Am I trusting God fully, or am I holding back in certain areas of my life?
4. How can I serve and encourage others in their faith journey?
Closing Encouragement:
Remember, growing in faith is a lifelong process. Don’t rush it or feel pressured to be “perfect.” God is patient and delights in every step you take toward Him. Trust in His love, seek Him wholeheartedly, and allow Him to transform you from the inside out.

Lessons I’ve Learned On Finding Peace!!
Tumblr media
“There are gonna be phases throughout your life, good and bad, and that’s just simply the human condition.” - Emma Chamberlain
Tumblr media
Life is not a race. You don’t need to rush everything in your life. Life should be fun, exciting, and nerve-wracking in a good way. The world is already moving fast itself. So, take your time to slow down. Look around at nature. Take a moment to reflect and breathe. Get off your phone for a bit. Read a book or just stare at the celling. Do things that make your inner child happy. Just feel.
2. Discover who you are again! A lot of the times we get really influenced from social media. We waste time & money on trends. We get so obsessed. Until we’re brain dead. Now, I’m not trying to tell you what to do. However, maybe take some time to learn who you REALLY are. 99% of people don’t know who they are. They base who they are off of trends. I, as well do this at times too. Seriously though, is your favorite color actually pink? Is it really green? Is it really purple? Or is it just because that color was/is a trend? Take some time to think.
3. Let go. If you really want peace, you gotta let go. This may mean letting go of people. It may mean letting go of gossiping. It may mean letting go of someone you admire. The list could go on and on! Ofc I can’t list everything you need to let go of. So, think for yourself. “What is getting in the way of me finding peace.”
4. Protect your heart!! Proverbs 4:23 (KJV) says, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Another translation (NIV) for better understanding, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Basically, protect your precious heart. Protect it from evil or negativity. Don’t let anyone (even yourself) hurt your heart.
5. Live in the moment!! Stare out the car window and look at nature. Twirl around in the wind. Just live in the moment, no stress, no drama, just you. You, silence, peace, and happiness.
6. Learn to love yourself!! Like genuine love for yourself. That’s when you find peace within yourself. Now, I can’t tell you exactly how to love yourself. However I’ll tell you this, spend time with yourself. Those we love, we want to spend lots of time with. So spend lots of time with yourself!!
“And I’m so happy now that you’re gone.” - Lana Del Rey (Happy Birthday Lizzy 💗)
Love ya dolls!! Remember to stay hydrated and pretty 💋🎀
