ear care ♡
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i feel like we normally don't do much to help our ears , so here are some ear cleaning tips and tricks to have fresh, clean and good smelling ears!!
qtips ♡
never use qtips in your ears , PLEASE. they just push the wax further into your ear. i would recommend wetting a qtip with warm water and swabbing around the outside ear crevices , but never stick them into your ears.
cleaning ♡
when in the bath or shower, use a soft cloth with a small amount of body wash to clean the surface of your ear , along with the back, top and underneath of your ear. heck , even better , clean it twice. rinse off the soap and then dry your ears immediately with a dry towel to stop bacteria from growing.
smelling good ♡
having my ears smelling good is a MUST!! if someone hugs me , it's usually the first place they smell. here are my tips to avoid ear odors!
obviously , you wanna be washing the outside of your ears regularly (preferably with a nice smelling gentle body wash) . if behind your ears is ever sweaty, make sure to wipe it with a towel! i also like to exfoliate behind my ears twice a week, as i notice i get dead skin build up sometimes. a small dab of perfume behind your ears each morning is sure to keep them smelling good the whole day too! if you have piercings, make sure you're cleaning them regularly. ♡ but please remember , if you notice an odor coming from your ears, always go to a doctor , as it could be a sign of infection!
please note ♡
you don't really need to clean the inside of your ears at all! obv you wanna get rid of any excess sitting on the outside of your ear , but earwax catches dirt from reaching your ear drum and other more sensitive parts of the ear, so its best to leave it there to do its job! it will eventually come out naturally anyway.
if you do feel the need to clean , (whether it's causing you discomfort, there's too much wax, or you're struggling to hear) please go to a professional ear cleaner or ear specialist! this is way safer as they know what they're doing.

Ear care — the most unspoken body care.
- ear care if one of the most neglected and overlooked body care it is as important as your face routine. Each and every, part of your body needs attention and care 🫶, and my desi babies if you really want to slay those jhumkes you really need to take care of your ear. Anyways let's get started.
1. Cleaning : Clean your outer ear gently with a washcloth. Avoid inserting anything into your ear canal, such as cotton swabs or other objects, as this can push wax deeper or even cause damage.
2. Earwax Management : Let your ears naturally clean themselves. Earwax helps protect your ears from dust, dirt, and bacteria. Do not use eard buds DO. NOT. Baby girlies please don't it can cause problems in hearing and affect your eardrum.
If you have excessive earwax buildup that causes discomfort or affects your hearing, consult a doctor for safe removal.
3. Protection: Wear ear protection in noisy environments, such as concerts, construction sites, or when using loud equipment like lawnmowers or power tools. Earplugs or earmuffs can help prevent hearing damage.
4. Avoiding Water : Keep water out of your ears while bathing, swimming, or showering. Use earplugs or a shower cap to protect your ears, especially if you've had ear surgery or have a history of ear infections.
5. Electronic devices : use airpods, earphones or headphone max 3 hours not more than that and always keep the volume at the adequate level in order not to affect your ear and brain.
6. Regular Check-ups : Visit an audiologist or healthcare professional for regular ear check-ups, especially if you experience changes in hearing, ear pain, or other ear-related issues.
7. Healthy Lifestyle : Maintain a healthy lifestyle, as conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes can impact your ear health. Stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet, and manage stress levels.

Taking these simple steps can help keep your ears healthy and functioning well. 🫶

what does the grooming process look like for stellina and kep?
my 'process" for grooming is very much what i would call 'poor man's dog training':
get a silicone lick-mat
apply peanut butter very generously
slap that bad boy onto the front of the fridge/kitchen appliances at dog eye-level
groom while they're distracted
i start this process day 1 as puppies and continue it through their whole lives. should i actually be putting in the effort to actually train them to stand still and quietly for grooming without the need for food distraction? yes. do i? no i'm lazy.
or if you're asking about like, what grooming i'm actually doing:
hair: i do an all-over brush at least once a week (should do twice but again, lazy and not needed). takes like 20-30 mins. my 'schedule' for brushing is basically this:
Tumblr media
red areas (behind ears, arm/legpits) are high-friction and very prone to matting. these you have to brush out at least once a week, no exceptions, or you will get mats. this is also very sensitive skin so it's good to desensitize them to brushing as much as you can.
yellow areas should be brushed at least once weekly to comb out any tangles and debris, but are less prone to matting.
and then the rest of them i'll brush through but that's about it, that part pretty much never tangles.
i normally just use a pin brush and slicker brush, and a metal comb for the yellow/red areas. sometimes an undercoat rake if they're very sheddy.
collies are 'dry' dogs - they don't really drool, and they don't have the oily waterproof coat that breeds like a lab or hound does, so they're naturally low-odor without much of a 'doggy' smell. i'll bathe every 4-8 weeks depending on what the weather's like and if their skin seems like it's getting cruddy. 2-3 times a year i'll take them to a groomer to have them do a 'deshed' treatment where they really blow out the undercoat, because this makes a huge difference in keeping them comfortable in the heat, and in how much hair i have to vacuum.
for stellina i've also been getting an outline trim (shortening up the yellow areas on the pic with long feathering) in spring and fall, it just keeps things cleaner and it makes a huge difference in the amount of time i have to spend brushing.
feet: i dremel nails every week, same PB-mat method as with brushing. every week is probably overkill but i think it's good desensitization and also i hate long nails on dogs so i'm a bit anal about it. collies tend to get long hair on the feet/between the pads, some people like the 'grinch feet' look but personally i fucking hate it so every 4-6 weeks i just take round-tip scissors and clean them up.
other: the rest i do as needed, e.g. if i see any wax/debris in the ears i'll do a clean with OTC ear cleaner and a cotton ball. one of stellina's eyes tends to be teary, so about once a week i take a warm washcloth and wipe them down to prevent tear stains. and then i vacuum my house weekly, sometimes every 2 weeks if it's not too bad.
honestly i'm writing a lot but what i've listed here is way less than 1 hour a week on average, collies IMO are not particularly high-grooming needs dogs (compared to, say, a doodle or OES that needs daily brushing and regular professional grooming). i find the grooming and hair totally manageable. i honestly prefer dealing with long hair because it tends to clump together on the ground, rather than short hairs that fly and scatter into everything. people tend to see roughs and go 'oh no way too much hair' but like, it is super manageable as long as you've got half an hour at some point each week to brush your dog. i'm very obsessive about my pets being 'neat' and i do fine.
sorry for the incredibly overly-long answer to your very simple ask lmao

My ears feel SO CLEAN
(probably tmi) I have misshapen ear canals so my ears get PACKED with wax
Every so often I put drops in my ear and then hose them out in the shower (like tonight)
The difference in clarity is comparable to a 2012 low budget car speaker versus professional studio monitors
Everything is CRYSTAL CLEAR

okay actually. i am maybe going to cry lol. here is a non-exhaustive list of the medical professionals i have seen since i was in seventh grade:
too many internists (as primary care/general practice) to actually count. well over a dozen.
two neurologists
one spine specialist
seven physical therapists
two chiropractors
four massage therapists
three dentists
one oral surgeon
i have had many MRIs and x-rays. i have had a lot of blood taken. i have taken rounds of steroids and muscle relaxers for pain/symptom management. there have been times i could not turn my head to one side for months at a time. i have scoliosis, which wasn't figured out until the fifth or so physical therapist, even though previous chiropractors had taken x-rays of my spine.
here is a non-exhaustive list of reasons why i sought such intensive care:
debilitating migraines
severe back pain
severe neck pain
bad pain flares in my back teeth during times of stress
ear aches
here is a non-exhaustive list of things i have been told about myself by these professionals:
the enamel on my teeth was worn off and had to be artificially reapplied "because" i "brushed my teeth too aggressively."
that the reason my ears hurt was "because" i "cleaned them too aggressively" and there was no protective ear wax left.
that the lowest three discs in my spine were degenerating.
that i was grinding my teeth in my sleep.
that i was hyper-tensing in my sleep and that i should "take xanax daily & nightly to make it stop."
that i had scoliosis. (this one is 100% confirmed)
that i needed therapy to become less stressed so my muscles would relax.
that i needed massage therapy and other various treatments to address how tight all my fascia was in certain parts of my body.
that i should try mouth guards because the teeth grinding had started to do real damage.
that i should enter a sleep study for how intense and chronic my insomnia was.
that the pain in my hands/tingling in my fingers was because my wrists were too weak.
that there was "something evil stored" in my neck
and then. an anon yesterday asked if i had tmj. and i said probably not. and then @chronodyne slid me a message that said "re: tmj, mine is myofascial and i also don’t have the clicking/trouble opening my mouth."
so i did some reading.
starting with myofascial tmj got me here (cedars-sinai.org)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i paused to look up bruxism, which turns out to be the medical term for grinding/clenching your fucking teeth:
Tumblr media
highlights are things i have experienced and sought or had medical attention for (dull headaches are not highlighted because i have only ever sought medical attention for migraines, though i certainly have dull headaches all the time).
okay. so i know i clench my jaw/grind my teeth in the daytime. and a dentist has told me before that it's evident i do it in my sleep, too. just the other day i woke up with a ravaged inside right cheek from chewing it in my sleep. so i can safely self-diagnose bruxism.
back to tmd.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
highlights are symptoms i have experienced. i did not highlight teeth sensitivity because i would classify it as pain instead. but you don't understand the howl i let out internally when i read the ringing in the ears and numbness/tingling feeling in your fingers bullet points. i have been operating under the assumption that i have tinnitus and probably a very scary autoimmune disorder that i just am better off ignoring (this is not medical advice, it's avoidance). i'm not saying i don't have those things, but i also never knew there were other possibilities.
Tumblr media
over the course of my life i have had many injuries to my neck and actually i have also had a pretty severe concussion before, which i would classify as a head injury. i have many of the symptoms listed for tmd. i have even undergone, incongruously, many of the treatments for it. so many doctors have noted and attempted to address issues with my fascia, with my muscles, with my tension.
it raising its ugly head when i'm stressed makes sense i literally said in my post yesterday DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE WHEN THEIR BLOOD PRESSURE RAISES LOL SOB
i cannot conclusively diagnose myself with tmd or, for that matter, with mps (myofasical pain syndrome, which i had also never heard of!). but i am so, so frustrated because i have never even heard these words. i have never been screened for these things. no medical professional has ever discussed these possibilities with me, even when they're treating me for several of the symptoms!
i'm crying for all the tests i've undergone that led to nothing. always, infuriatingly, labeled a medical mystery. for the rounds of steroids and muscle relaxers i've been prescribed. for the painful manual manipulations i've been subjected to. for every single person who ever touched my body commenting on how tight/tense my neck is. for the addiction that stemmed from that first xanax prescription when i was 15 that caused so much fucking grief in my life. for the chronic pain that has swallowed whole decades of my life and sapped my energy since i was a child.
none of these symptoms were ever NOT disclosed to a medical professional. at each one, i did the immense labor of dragging out my entire, perplexing medical history, including injuries and past issues and treatments. but nobody ever thought to consider this? nobody, with all those degrees, with those long careers, with all those patients, ever thought to consider this? while i was in all those paper gowns, on all those cold tables, getting poked and prodded, crying, paying for tests i could not afford, so sleep deprived i thought i'd die at 25, nobody considered this?
anyway @chronodyne suggested seeing an oral surgeon to discuss this so. i guess that's what i'm looking up next.

I finally had my appointment at the HNO to get my ears cleaned out and I thought I'd talk a bit about my shitty genetic combination of small ear canals + huge ear wax production and how that impacts my life because why not.
About every 5-6 months my ears get so gunked up that I start to feel a) a loss of hearing and b) imense burning pain in my head. There isn't that much that I can do to prevent it. Regularly washing my ears out myself helps, but doesn't fix the problem. There are a few tools I've been recommended over the years, but none of them work because, again, my ear canals are uncommonly small. For reference, even the tiniest earbuds I've tried so far don't really fit for me (Btw, do NOT use q-tips in your ears. It's bad).
So, whenever it's that time of the year again, I'll make an apointment with a fitting medical professional (in Germany they're called HNOs, I've no idea what they're called anywhere else) to get my ears deep cleaned. There are two methods I've encountered so far, one being air, the other being pressurized water. I don't know the pros and cons of each method, execpt that water hurts less in my experience.
Regardless of which method they use, they'll also almost always poke around with metal instruments to get the last chunks out. After they're done they'll probably also proudly show you the dark brown-red 1.1cm x 0,4cm mass of wax they just removed, while you are still recovering from the pain and the shock of everything being so loud all of the sudden.

Understanding Hearing Aid Domes: A Comprehensive Guide
Tumblr media
Hearing aid domes are integral components of behind-the-ear (BTE) and receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids, significantly influencing both comfort and auditory experience. This article delves into the nature of hearing aid domes and provides insights on how to maintain them for optimal performance.
What is a Hearing Aid Dome?
A hearing aid dome is a small, bell-shaped silicone piece that attaches to the end of a hearing aid's tubing or speaker. It sits comfortably in the ear canal, serving as a medium to transmit sound. Domes come in various sizes and styles, such as open, closed, and power, to accommodate different hearing needs and ear canal shapes.
Types of Hearing Aid Domes
Open Domes: Characterized by multiple holes, they allow natural and amplified sound to mix, suitable for mild to moderate hearing loss.
Closed Domes: With fewer holes, they provide more sound isolation and are ideal for moderate to severe hearing loss.
Power Domes: Completely occlusive, they are designed for severe to profound hearing loss, offering maximum amplification and minimal feedback.
Benefits of Using Hearing Aid Domes
Comfort: Their soft silicone material makes them comfortable for extended wear.
Improved Sound Quality: Domes can enhance sound clarity and reduce feedback.
Versatility: Available in different types, they cater to a wide range of hearing impairments.
How to Care for Hearing Aid Domes
Proper maintenance of hearing aid domes is crucial for their longevity and performance. Here’s how to care for them:
Regular Cleaning: Wipe the dome daily with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using water or cleaning agents unless specified by the manufacturer.
Inspect for Wax Build-up: Earwax can accumulate on the dome, affecting sound quality. Check regularly and clean with a gentle brush if necessary.
Replace When Necessary: Domes should be replaced every 2-6 months, or sooner if they become stiff, discolored, or damaged.
Handle with Care: When attaching or removing the dome, be gentle to avoid damaging the hearing aid speaker.
Consult Your Audiologist: Regular check-ups with your audiologist can ensure your domes and hearing aids are in optimal condition.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Feedback or Whistling: This may indicate an ill-fitting dome. Consult your audiologist for a proper fit.
Muffled Sound: Often a result of wax build-up. Clean the dome and the hearing aid’s speaker if necessary.
Discomfort: If a dome causes discomfort, a different size or style may be needed.
FAQs
How often should I replace my hearing aid domes?
Typically, every 2-6 months, but this can vary based on usage and care.
Can I clean my hearing aid domes with water?
Generally, it’s not recommended unless specified by the manufacturer. Use a dry, soft cloth instead.
Are hearing aid domes one-size-fits-all?
No, they come in various sizes and styles to fit different ear canals and hearing needs.
Conclusion
Hearing aid domes are small yet significant components that enhance the hearing aid experience. Understanding their types, benefits, and the care required can help users get the most out of their hearing aids. Regular maintenance, along with professional guidance, ensures these devices continue to improve the quality of life for individuals with hearing impairments.

London Ear Care: Premier Professional Ear Wax Cleaning Services
Tumblr media
If diminished hearing plagues you, Professional Ear Wax Cleaning Services can help. Microsuction therapy, a highly effective method, safely removes earwax blockages. London's Ear Wax Doctor clinics specialize in this sought-after procedure. Opt for this remedy to restore your hearing. Whether you choose clinic or home service, our expert team ensures pain-free solutions for optimal ear health.
Explain What is Earwax?
A naturally occurring buildup of wax that is visible in the ear canal is called earwax. It can act as a barrier against irritation, infections, debris, and insects. Since most people's ears are able to "clean themselves," most don't need to remove it. The natural movement of earwax from the ear canal to the outer ear is the reason for this phenomenon.
Too much earwax or too much of it trapped in the ears could be troublesome for certain people. When this happens, people may find that they feel and hear better after getting their earwax cleansed. The ear cleaning London removal service offered by Ear Wax Doctor is a safe and efficient way to handle this issue.
What Is the Process of Ear Microsuction?
Microsuction is the most effective technique for getting rid of earwax. The knowledgeable staff at Ear Wax Doctor will carefully inspect your ear canal before using a gentle suction technique to remove any buildup of earwax.
This device works similarly to a vacuum cleaner and uses suction to easily remove ear wax that has become lodged. Following the treatment, the skilled London ear wax removal specialists will use a microscope to assess the condition of your ears. The standard method of eliminating earwax in London involved using an ear syringe that was filled with water. On the other hand, microsuction is a far superior and secure substitute.

Christmas Morning Pt.4
woooo here’s pt.4 for you suckers!! i’m living my s12 2020 life rn because you all get some crygi. i have never done this before so, apologies if this absolutely sucks asphalt
so anyways, hope you enjoy!
----
“Crys! Get your cat before she eats any more tinsel!” Crystal was buried underneath the covers of her warm bed when she heard her roommate shout through their apartment.
“Why is she my cat whenever she does something bad?” She shouted back, in denial of the fact that she had to get up.
“Because you’re her mother. Now go put her in timeout!”
Knowing she was fighting a losing battle, Crystal sighed and sat up, rubbing her eyes. She clumsily reached on her nightstand for her glasses, sliding them on and finally seeing the world. She tied her robe around her waist and walked down the hall, passing by a mirror which she chose to ignore. She already knew how bad her hair looked in the morning.
What she didn’t know she would see was her roommate Gigi holding a Christmas present in front of the tree, blocking a hissing TicTac. She laughed, getting Gigi to whip her head around to face her. She looked slightly embarrassed, cheeks flushed the second she heard Crystal’s bubbly laughter.
“Don’t just stand there, help me! She nearly broke an ornament.”
“That’s why I told you to put the fragile ones higher up.” She went over and picked up the cat by the scruff of her neck, cradling her gently and scratching her head. The calico stopped hissing, leaning into the warm touch and purring in an instant. Gigi huffed and put down the wrapped box.
“Oh so I’m the bad guy?”
“Well..”
“You are not siding with a cat, Crystal Elizabeth.”
“She’s my baby! How can I resist her little face?” She cooed at the cat, TicTac purring and meowing in a higher pitch. She leaned her head back and looked at Gigi with wide eyes, tilting her head in an adorable way that made the redhead groan.
“How do I always lose to a damn cat?”
“Don’t worry. You’re still prettier than her.” Crystal giggled, putting down the cat and watching her roam back to her cat tree, suddenly more interested in that than whatever was on the tree. Gigi rolled her eyes and tucked some of her hair behind her ear, her cheeks still flushed. She cleared her throat, “so anyways, how about we exchange gifts? I know you’re leaving after lunch to see your Moms.”
Crystal nodded. “Sure, sounds great.” She plopped down on the ground, crossing her knees and reaching over to pull out a box. Gigi did the same and she chuckled when she looked at the differences in their wrapping of the boxes.
The box in Gigi’s hand was meticulously wrapped. The corners are crisp and the line thin and defined. The silver wrapping paper made it seem like between her fingers was a mirror filled with whatever desires and wishes you could imagine. It was everything Gigi was: clean, crisp, professional, beautiful, and oh-so-alluring. It made Crystal smile and think about just how long she could’ve spent wrapping to make sure it was absolutely perfect in her eyes. She smiled a little at the thought of Gigi sticking her tongue out just a little bit like she always did when she concentrated on something important to her.
Crystal's box was the complete opposite from Gigi’s. It was wrapped well enough, the tape pieces lifting from the sides of, hanging on for dear life to keep the paper attached to each other. The paper was expressive; the butcher paper covered in swirling patterns drawn in with crayon. Yellows and blues and greens, making  it seem like the entire rainbow was captured by the wax scratches on the paper. Gigi smiled slightly, thinking about Crystal relaxing in her room, headphones in and listening to music while she lazily doodled onto the spare paper, her fingers holding onto the crayon loosely but still commanding it with such power. They looked at each other with sheepish smiles before exchanging gifts, both smiling a little wider as they held a part of the other person.
“You go-”
“I think-”
They look at each other and laugh, echoing throughout the apartment. “Here.” Gigi said, still smiling and looking at Crystal. “Why don’t we do it together?” Crystal nodded.
“Smart. Ready, on three.” Gigi nodded and readied her nails.
“One…two…three!”
Papers ripped and ribbons were untied as a pile of destruction was made on the floor. Tictac tilted her head, yellow eyes looking at the mess and abandoning her tower. She made her way over, meowing and swatting at the scarps, now easily distracted from the twinkling lights and shiny glass ornaments on the tree.
“Crystal… this is so beautiful. I love it.” Gigi held a little ceramic cup in her hand, the outside painted in a gorgeous 70’s motif with daisies and swirls and looping arches. She smiled at her and held it close to her chest. “When did you make this? I normally notice when you get clay all over your clothes.”
“I actually wore an apron this time. I wanted it to be a surprise.” The curly haired girl smiled lopsidedly. “But my 3D teacher had extra so I thought it would be perfect for you cause I know you don’t like the bag you have for your makeup brushes.” She rubbed the back of her neck and Gigi smiled.
“I love it. Thank you, Cryssie. Now actually open up your box, cheater.”
Crystal rolled her eyes. “Alright, alright. So sorry I wanted to see if you hated the gift.” She chuckled and looked down, opening the box.
“I could never hate anything you make.” She whispered, loud enough for Crystal to hear and inhale as she pulled out a handmade scarf. She smiled at it and felt the yarns, multiple different colors all woven together lovingly and she could smell the hint of Gigi’s perfume on it.
“Geege, it’s perfect thank you so much.”
She shrugged. “You always forget your scarf. Maybe now that this one is more… you, you’ll remember to wear it and not freeze to death.” She picked at her nail beds, not wanting to look at her and have her see her embarrassingly hot cheeks.
“I’ll wear it today.” She said with a certainty that made Gigi’s heart flutter. They stayed quiet, Crystal smiling at Gigi and Gigi focusing intently on the little shreds of wrapping paper from TicTac’s claws. She swallowed and went to get up but she felt something tug at her. She looked down and saw a menagerie of colors across her torso. There was another pull again and she was back on the ground, crouched in front of Crystal and her mind running a million miles a minute.
“Crys... wh-what are you?”
“I wanted to say thank you.” Her voice was warm and fuzzy and it made her head swim.
“But you already did.” She said nervously. “Crystal, you’re freaking me out. What are you-” She felt something warm and soft hold her hand. She looked down and saw Crystals hand over hers, her fingers curling over and held onto her. Time seemed to slow as Gigi felt her heartbeats thump against her chest.
“Gigi,” her voice was soft and she couldn’t refuse, looking at her and only finding deep pools of warm brown warmth. “May I?”
She didn’t trust her voice, her throat dryer than any desert she could’ve imagined. She looked at her and nodded slightly, eyes drifting down to her lips. God she hoped, she dreamed to feel how soft they were. Crystal's hands came up to Gigi’s cheeks and her eyes shot wide open, feeling Gigi soar forward into her lips and kiss her.  Her lips were softer and sweeter than anything imaginable, like cotton candy and that bottle of sweet wine Gigi snuck in after finals. They pulled away breathless and staring at each other. Crystal was burning up as she looked at her roommate, her roommate that she just kissed.
“Sorry.” The redhead whispered. “I wanted to do it first. Merry Christmas, Crystal.”
She smiled at her and chuckled. “Merry Christmas, Gigi.” She pulled the scarf more, getting a little yelp from Gigi as she kissed her again, finding a better use for her present.

Chapter 1 - Table of Consent -
Tumblr media
Chapter 11: Hunger
You had never been professionally done up before in your life, and certainly not by three energetic young ladies and an older woman who was full of so much energy and brandy you weren't entirely sure how she was still alive. They were, all of them, delightful, but the experience was definitely a little over whelming. Less so the activity itself, and more so the actual people involved, but you let yourself go with the flow for the most part and that made things slightly less overwhelming.
Mrs. Carter and her fair ladies had amazing fashion sense, and almost all of your input was a matter of cut and comfort. No to the plunging back, you weren't feeling that brave today. Off the shoulder was fine, but you'd need different lingerie, and according to Mrs. Carter you needed different lingerie no matter what you went with because you weren't keeping your original set on with one of her dresses.
Heels sure, but something more stable than stilettos, and holy crap silk stockings feel really nice, you never knew that. The lotion smelled faintly of wildflowers, but it wasn't a strong scent at all, and there was oil for your cuticles and polish to match the dress, and you didn't want a lot of jewelry or makeup, but the necklace does fill the space well, you agree. Yes, a bun was a good and easy hair style, you appreciated that, and some ringlets on the side of your face would be very nice, you promise you won't tuck them behind your ears too often.
There're some pearl pins to decorate the bun, but you don't have to worry about returning them, they're on the house, and excuse us while pluck a few errant strands, and we can wax your legs real quick, you'd be surprised how nice it'll feel, there's plenty of time for it smooth over before your dinner. Sure, go ahead and close your eyes, let us help you relax for a little bit while the dress is adjusted since there's time. Don't worry miss, you only dozed off for about twenty minutes, how do you feel?
You had four hours before you needed to leave to make it to the reservation on time and were done in three hours and twenty-two minutes.
You stepped into the lobby after Mrs. Carter had gone to fetch Sir Crocodile. The soft click of your heels on the hard floor were barely making a sound, and yet sounded impossibly loud in your ears. Though maybe that was your own heart.
You weren't an arrogant person, and while you hadn't considered yourself ugly, you weren't sure you would easily apply the word beautiful to yourself the way Alvida did for herself. That said, right now, you were stunning, and somehow being aware of it made you nervous.
You turned toward the sound of Crocodile entering into the area with you and are rewarded. He's not an overt man in his expressions, but his eyes widen more than you had seen before now, and the cigar in his mouth wavers for just a moment as his mouth nearly went slack.
The end of the cigar goes red, before he exhales a long puff of smoke, handing what's left of it to an attendant with an ashtray. He walks over to you, and his usual demeanor is in place, though there's something more than a hunger for food burning in those half-lidded eyes.
"Miss (Y/N) -." He begins.
"I clean up nice, don't I?" You interrupt, offering a smile and catching the amused expression that crosses his face.
"Not exactly the words I would use." He requests your hand and kisses it lightly when you offer it, leaning down his low voice runs across you like velvet. "Nothing else I do for you will match the restraint of continuing to Baratie's tonight, my sweet desert flower."
It wasn't just the warmth of his breath against your skin, or the low rumbled words that sank into you, that causes your face to flush and your shoulders to turn pink. It was the unspoken promise behind those words of restraint.
Before you left for Baratie's there were a few final details to deal with within the boutique. While you had been pampered and dressed your clothes had been cleaned, pressed, and packaged. The store was willing to hand them over to you, mail them back to your address, or dispose of them – whichever you preferred. You weren't overly attached to the clothes, and it felt weird to ask for them to be mailed, but you weren't sure you wanted to forget a box of clothing in the trunk of Crocodile's car.
Honestly, everything from the moment you had stepped into this store had been surreal.
Crocodile had interceded on your behalf and requested that they mail the items back to you. He even chose a simple and elegant box, saying that even if the dress didn't survive the evening, the box would be a small memento of your first proper date together.
When you were back in the car you let out a breath and sank into the leather seat a little bit.
"It seems this evening hasn't been nearly as relaxing for you as I had hoped." Crocodile muses with some concern in his voice.
"It... has been surprisingly relaxing." You admit after giving it a moment's thought. "It was a little overwhelming at first, but Mrs. Carter and her girls were good at their job. I don't feel stressed at all, I just feel like I need an hour to really process everything new that's happened." You give him a genuine smile and put your hand in his. "I'm like some secret princess pulled from a mundane life unexpectedly. I'm not sure I'll ever get used to it, but, I mean, it doesn't make me uncomfortable. Not like I thought it would."
"Hmm, no longer considering your options for escape, Miss (Y/N)?" There's amusement in his voice, as though he knows the answer you would give before you give it.
"The last two and a half months have felt like a lifetime." You admit, your cheeks darkening. "I imagine that even if I did want to escape, you wouldn't have made it easy."
He leans over and tilts your face toward his gaze. The feeling from your first night swirls around you again, the sense of those amber gold eyes, pupils as sharp as daggers, watching your every move. Waiting, with terrible patience and assurance, for you to dare to step forward.
"No, Miss (Y/N), I would not have." He says softly, as his lips brush across yours, so lightly as to not even disturb the lipstick upon them. The unbelievably light exchange was almost more aggressive than a deep kiss, and you found yourself wanting more.
Mr. One took a scenic route to the restaurant, since you were still a little early, and the quiet car ride was almost torture. It wasn't that you couldn't think of anything to talk about, or that you even needed to talk at all. The problem was, Crocodile wasn't the only one whose hunger had nothing to do with food, and you weren't sure you'd be able to control yourself if the conversation got away from you.
It was an odd relief when the car pulled up to the restaurant, and you were suddenly in public with Sir Crocodile. You had expected being out in public like this would make you horribly nervous, but with your arm folded over his, you felt secure. You had originally been worried about seeing your face in the newspaper if you did something like this. However, between the venue, and Crocodile's reputation, you didn't think there was a reporter in the Metro who was foolish enough to snap a picture without permission.
Baratie's was to food what the boutique you had come from had been to high end clothes. It was hard to imagine there was a place within the Grandline Metro that was going to compare. It was the epitome of fine dining, set up for service and steadily paced meals, with little concern about maximizing table count or turnaround time for patrons.
The entire place had a clean, elegant feel to it. White linens, spotless floors, fine bone porcelain tableware and more marble than not. The whole place was polished, and yet, even before you had been seated, you already felt as though the restaurant was little more than a pale backdrop against the true star: The food.
Food you hoped was good enough to pull your hunger toward actual sustenance, and away from that which wouldn't be sated for another couple hours at least.
You were seated at a table that put a comfortable distance between you and Crocodile, while still keeping you close enough together to converse easily. Not that any amount of distance was going to cool the thoughts in your head, but it certainly kept either of you from stoking things to greater heights in the midst of the meal.
With just two words, however, all of your hunger vanished.
"Croco-baby!"
