i reckon brian (last night of the proms) and maurice (private view) would get on well together. they're passionate about music/art, they both seem a little bit prickly, and they've both got a secret murder under their belt

Inside no 9 - Series 3 painting studies ~

Another set of individual paintings for this painting series!

I was worried that the different aspect ratio of The Devil Of Christmas might not work with the rest of the paintings but it doesn't look too bad tbh! (I think helped by the fact I picked a lot of dark shots lol)

There were a lot of really dynamic shots to chose from in The Bill but I really liked the energy and impressionist vibe of this one! Although it did mean drawing lots of hands (which are famously one of the most difficult things for artists to draw pfft...)

I think someone had suggested another really touching scene from Empty Orchestra which I was tempted to do, but in the end went for the part where Janet's reaching up to feel the music vibrating through the speaker (even if the pose was v difficult to paint lol)!

I think it turned out quite well though and it was fun to play around with some bright neon colours especially when so many of these are mostly made up of various shades of browns pfft...

So ok, fun fact, for most of these I followed the screen shot fairly accurately, but for the Diddle Diddle Dumpling one I knew I wanted to get those weird chairs in my piece but the scene itself was too wide so I did cheat and bring everything in a bit lol

Also something I discovered whilst painting the Private View one is that mannequins are much easier to draw than people and I will exclusively be drawing them from now on pfft

As always I hope people are still enjoying these posts and hearing me yap bout this series (& this amazing show lol)...
