I present my take on Lord Solar Leontus, Queen Victoria's Golden Throne of Praetoria. Bravely leading the Praetorian Guard into battle.

I have had so much fun working on this fantastic miniature by Midwinter Minis, Elizabeth was replaced with Victoria by the good people at Kraken Gaming.

I converted it up to look more 40k and made a unique base for her.

I am very happy with the outcome.

There are also rules for her that cover 9th and 10th edition Warhammer 40k, but these are not official.

To @wistfulcynic , who literally saved this chapter from not one, but three, yes, THREE plot /character sinkholes, and subsequently suggested one crucial bit (adding the Steve-est line that ever steve-ed at a perfect key moment, which is something i still cannot believe i MISSED, i should be flogged,) and which resulted in three paragraphs that are now officially my favorite moment of the whole fic. Such is her magic and i am so lucky to have her.

The Glyphid Praetorian! Might touch up the base a bit, add some OSL but so far he came out great. The Disgusting Slime paint was absolutely perfect for his glowing abdomen - I definitely need to get more neons for the next time I do a glow because that was WAY easier.

A Roman Emperor (Claudius) by Lawrence Alma-Tadema

In AD 41, the debauched Roman emperor Caligula was murdered. Gratus, a member of the Praetorian, draws a curtain aside to reveal the terrified Claudius who is hailed as emperor on the spot. Beneath the herm in the background, lie the bodies of Caligula, his wife Caesonia, their young daughter and of a bystander. The blood stains on the herm denote the struggle that has transpired as well as the setting, the Hermaeum, an apartment in the Palace where Claudius had sought refuge.

Meet prisoner 362915. A former Imperial Guard officer convicted of dereliction of duty, for failing to take an objective as ordered, and insufficient dedication to the Emperor, for failing to die in attempting to secure that objective, he was sentenced to “die in battle”. 362915 suffered horrendous wounds over the course of several battles but, because he somehow survived each one, the 22nd’s chirurgeons had to patch him up and send him back out every time, lest they be accused of trying to subvert Imperial Justice.

The recipient of more than a dozen cybernetic body-part replacements, 362915 garnered the unwelcome reputation as “the Emperor’s most hated” as it became obvious he had not yet repaid his debt to Him-On-Earth and he wasn’t allowed to die until he had. Eventually, more machine than human, the techpriest attached to the 22nd decided to install what was left of 362915 into the body of a Luther Pattern Excavation Automata rather than waste any more bionics on him.

Made from a Necromunda Ambot and a rummage in the bits box, some decals from Green Stuff World. In game terms I might field him as an Ogryn bodyguard, or possibly a counts-as sentinel.

...yes. Yes i know. It's four chapters now, not three. i had to split this one in half, because it grew into a 12K monster.

But.

Chapter 4 is finished. Completely done. And --- IT IS POSTING TOMORROW. So please bear with me and in 24 hours you will have the conclusion.

So here it is, chapter 3.

There are shenanigans. And battle plans. And so much soft bois connecting on the eve of battle. And i'll have you know i could have ended this on a monster cliffhanger and--- did not. i believe that shows superhuman restraint on my part.
