Wednesday mental health & wellness day 🩷 Good morning and happy Wednesday! How are you lovely ladies doing this morning? I hope you’re taking the time to take care of yourselves this morning and being mindful of yourself and the world around you! I know that yesterday was voting day and the world was in total chaos! But today breathe, take a few moments to yourself, and keep sipping that morning coffee! Today I wanted to share with you my top 3 favorite wellness goals I try to achieve every month. As most of you know I used to be very spiritual and so meditation is a way for me to calm my thoughts and process them instead of letting them pile up and wondering why my head hurts. If you’re not much of a meditative person, no worries there’s other ways you can achieve a more peaceful calm mind in your morning/day/night wellness routine and let’s talk about those! -Washing your face! Even if you don’t do your full blown morning wash routine just cleansing and exfoliating your face is a refreshing way to wake the mind up and stay focused! Just this morning all I did was clean my face with some water, and exfoliated to help get the extra dirt build up off of my face. Putting on some music- Music in the morning is the best motivational speaker you’ll ever listen to first thing in the morning! I’m a music lover especially in the morning it help keeps my brain focused and calm, while having a good reminiscent morning. Music is also another form of meditation! Last but not least, a good morning walk, I love my morning walks especially on Wednesday morning! Before I ended up with 2 other besties, my dogs I used to take my oldest out for a walk for a good hour before work. I would take him downtown and in our safest neighborhoods! Now I just hang outside w them as they play while I drink my coffee and think about what I’m doing for the day, or for my weekend. Or if I’m having a weird funk of a day I try to sit with myself and find ways to soothe the funk, anger or sadness or I just sit with myself and let it process, sometimes all we gotta do is just sit and listen to ourselves rather than block them away and pretend they don’t exist! Be your own therapist! (In the healthiest of ways of course!) I take this day very personal because we all need a mental day and even if we aren’t able to take the day off we should still find ways to keep our mentality & wellness alive and remind ourselves how far we’ve come, where we are going, and why we’re here! It’s human to have days where we need to take extra care of ourselves, pamper ourselves, and focus on us! We are allowed to! 🩷

Connecting with our Mental Health
Although Covid-19 is still with us, it is important to start making those connections, to get back into our lives consciously so that we’re living in the present mentally and emotionally. By present I mean living in the moment without your mind wandering to the past, to events that have left you struggling to cope.
Yes, now is the perfect time to consciously connect with your mental health, to think about your emotions, and how you really feel. In our daily lives, how many of us really think about our feelings, about our experiences, how many of us unconsciously tap into our experiences and the feelings we have left behind?
We may tell ourselves we’re okay with our experiences, that we’re coping with our lives, that there is nothing wrong with us, but having been stuck in my own head for years, I know that what we unconsciously think, (the part of the brain that isn’t always open to us) is something we don’t think about.
If we haven’t been thinking about mental health since the start of Covid-19, it won’t be something we’re thinking about now. It’s human nature to ignore the very things we should be dealing with. Now that many of us are getting back into our lives, it would be a good time to address and deal with any outstanding issues, so that we can live more presently.
It is important for us to engage with ourselves on an unconscious level, so that we can commit to our mental and emotional health from a place of openness, and so that we can continue to engage with others, without having to also deal with our baggage.
It is about being able to recognise and understand that what’s happened to you, the good and the bad, it is about a willingness to engage in your own emotional journey to healing. Connecting with our experiences, is based on a foundation of empathy, compassion, and love for yourself. It takes tolerance and patience to come to understand the inner workings of your mind and to co-exist with yourself.
Through insight when you practice learning about yourself, you can start to make choices that serve you in both your personal and professional life. It is very much a mindful and deliberate approach to a life that unifies not only you and how you feel, but also unifies you in fulfilling your life, whether that is for you, or for others you share your life with.
What Covid-19 has shown is that it is important for us to recognise and deal with our emotions that tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, that we should live for now and stay present, so that we may continue to flourish.
It has also shown us that we have no control over others’ decisions, but we can choose to make a difference through the support we give to each other, so that we are able to start feeling better. It’s consciously taking that first step. Cerebral Palsy: A Story ‘Finding the Calm After the Storm’ and ‘Spirituality, Healing and Me’ is a good first step to your healing journey.

Let’s talk about self care. A while back I wrote a book, in it I mentioned the oxygen mask analogy: if you ever traveled on a plane and was bored enough to pay attention to the safety presentation you’ll remember the flight attendant mentioning: In the event the shit hits the fan and oxygen masks deploy YOU MUST make sure your mask is secured before you help others. Even your loved ones next to you!! WHY? Because you can’t help them if you’re knocked out. (I’m paraphrasing the in-flight lesson; however I think you’ll agree my way would get more attention.) on the ground we rarely take the time to make sure we are breathing first. We put others first and we very rarely make / take sacrifices for our own wellness. That’s NOT healthy. There’s no moral justification to this either because again.... you can’t help someone when you’re knocked out. Let’s explore this, talk about self-care and show others ITS OK to care of yourself!!! ————————————————- Self-care includes anything that you love to do. What makes you feel recharged, well-rested, and happy? Everyone can and will have a different definition and that’s awesome!!! What are some different things that you can do for self-care? 🙏🏾Gratitude makes you happier and instantly lift your spirits no mater the situation. My favorite kind of books are self-growth books and every single ones that I’ve read all talks about practicing gratitude so I’ve made it a point to practice this in my daily life. From my experience, gratitude triggers positive feedback, and just 30 seconds of feeling and being thankful for what I have and don’t have has transform my life greatly. It makes me happier, makes my relationships stronger, and has helped me become more optimistic about life and the journeys ahead. ◌ ◌ This morning walking with @mrmatthewfears on the beach and seeing the dolphins swimming by, I was grateful for the moment, grateful to have the day off, and grateful I get to live in a country of endless opportunities. ◌ ◌ Take an advantage your day.
