Whether one had attentive parents or not, we ARE responsible for meeting our own needs as adults. • Sure, I have decades behind me of putting others first ... sometimes for good reason! Children? Yup, four of them who always came first. • But you know what? For as well intentioned as that was, I didn’t get enough time for myself, and this INFJ has always required a lot of alone time. • Now I get a lot of that and sometimes more than I’d like but I STILL need to prioritize self care that doesn’t equate as health care! I eat well and make sleep a priority because of my health. But time outside, time reading fiction, time writing, exercise, being in water, and breath work feed my soul. So I’m indulging myself. Reading like a wild woman, sitting outside in the cooling air, listening to the birds and the trees. walking dunes, spontaneously going swimming (spontaneity is a newly acquired skill,) and doing meditative breath work. Ahhhh ... call it what you want but it’s soothing.
