For today's October activity I took my dog to the yearly Pet Blessing service at my (Lutheran) church. The Baptist Church I grew up in did not believe in blessing animals, but all the churches I've belonged to as an adult have (not the main factor in my membership, but it isn't not a factor either!)

The last time I took him to a blessing was before we moved here, which was the first summer of the pandemic. In the intervening time, he has gotten crankier, blinder, more suspicious, and less willing to tolerate situations and people. You know, like most of us! He snapped at no less than three people, including the priest, obviously. Everyone was a good sport about it, though, because he is visibly ancient. The elderly get away with everything.

Got bored around last week or so, and ended up having some time for setting up for October. Might be busy later on, so might not have as much time for the other setting placements that were planned for October at the latest.

It hurts to know that almost all my reblogs and likes will be from fellow Jews whenever I speak out about the hostages. A lot of people who claim to hate antisemitism believe that speaking about them somehow hurts Palestinians. If you have been led to believe caring about innocent civilians on either side hurts the other, you have been fed lies. Empathy is not a finite source. You can be for a bilateral ceasefire and mourn for the hostages. Your Jewish friends are not ok right now. We need your support

October 15

I finally made the French apple cake that won the October desserts poll I made forever ago. Here it is!

It's absolutely delicious. Who needs spices when you have butter and Jamaican dark rum?

@rtbyg I also finally started my Psycho rewatch after making you wait forever! If I don't finish it tonight I will tomorrow, then on to the sequel!

Not bad for the midpoint of my October activities!
