For today's October activity I took my dog to the yearly Pet Blessing service at my (Lutheran) church. The Baptist Church I grew up in did not believe in blessing animals, but all the churches I've belonged to as an adult have (not the main factor in my membership, but it isn't not a factor either!)

The last time I took him to a blessing was before we moved here, which was the first summer of the pandemic. In the intervening time, he has gotten crankier, blinder, more suspicious, and less willing to tolerate situations and people. You know, like most of us! He snapped at no less than three people, including the priest, obviously. Everyone was a good sport about it, though, because he is visibly ancient. The elderly get away with everything.

Thank You For Telling Me.#in another world Cillian and Philippa have a princess/knight dynamic but the roles of who is princess and who is knight #are extremely unclear. also both of them are the horse.#Pippa is annoyed by the Pip nickname but Rossa (Irish pronunciation a bit like ROE-sha) prefers Ross as a nickname because it’s less rosy #and while its traditional for male jockeys to have diminutive names like Ruby and Franny and so on #Rossa feels he has troubles enough.#maybe when he’s a champion.#Rossa and Pippa are hurtling towards dating and both are annoyed by this.#and both of them like Killie a lot #and Killie suspects they are hunting him for sport 😌#other details: Pippa and Rossa are wearing the large unisex colours that are kept for whatever jockey is riding for whatever owner #while Rossa is tall he’s narrow and Pippa is a small woman so the unisex one-size-fits-all silks are a bit big on them and are tucked in #and have hair elastics at the wrists to stop them being #too baggy and Pippa’s folded the sleeves back before securing them. but Killie #as we know is the prince of a rotten little dynasty and special pet of a mad billionaire owner #and he belongs to that stable and has his own silks which fit him. god bless.

I ordered a 60 inch high baby gate so I could have the bathroom door open for Marty to see out and not let the little beasts get in. With an able bodied cat like Bianca I knew my old 40” gate wasn’t going to cut it. But in classic me fashion I measured the width of my pet room door instead of my bathroom door, and they are NOT the same.

Bright side is my dad is going to come over tomorrow and make it work anyways. He told me “there will end up being a couple little holes in your doorframe where the screws go in”. If I cared that much about my woodwork being perfect I would not have 9 cats
