Okay, but now I'm thinking about Buck and Tommy and Eddie all hanging out together, because "Hey, isn't this great? You're already friends with my new boyfriend?" and yeah, Eddie's totally happy and giddy 'cause now he gets to hang out with BOTH of them.
And then there comes a point where Buck and Tommy are very much making eyes at each other and Eddie is just totally oblivious and grabs another beer and "Do you want one?" And Buck is like, "It's getting kinda late, huh, Eddie? Don't you need to go relieve Carla/Marisol of her babysit duties?" and they kind of have to manually shove him out the door because they want to make out.
#I am just so giddy about this all#Obviously I want endgame Buddie#but this all fits in perfectly!#I want to explode Buck/Tommy a bit before we get to the Buddie#It was always going to be one of them who realized their sexuality first#and this is just... *chef's kiss*#Buck/Tommy#911#911 spoilers#fin's post#BuckTommy

as much as i'm rooting for canon buddie and think about little else all day, what i want the most from s7 is queer eddie. i want an 'eddie begins again' episode where we get to see a young eddie already struggling with gender roles and expectations, this time from a blatantly queer angle. i want more eddie in therapy scenes. i want eddie to come out to his dad after another nuanced and cathartic conversation. i want eddie unapologetically choosing to allow himself to have the things he likes and to feel less guilt about it. i want the silly scenes too - pepa reacting to the news by simply trying to set him up with her friends' nephews, much to eddie's chagrin; eddie flirting with guys and being painfully awkward about it, but it still working for him somehow (because he's so handsome). i want eddie to have a boyfriend he smiles and blushes about and for the team to tease him about it, and for him to happily shrug it off because this kind of thing doesn't make him tense up or panic anymore. in my opinion his character is already perfectly set up for a 'coming out later in life' arc and i think if done with care it could be so beautiful. yeah give me 'eddie begins again' now please
#this would mean the whole entire world to me#i obviously want buddie endgame still and especially if we get canon gay eddie but-#i could live without it i guess is what i mean!#buddie#eddie diaz#911 abc#rambling

Why is no one talking about ryan posting a picture of the well scene with buck and eddie
And then when the episode came out and he did his interview he started saying eddie is straight etc ????
(Even tho he literally posted a picture of buck and eddie in the well and also other buddie account content and he still had the audacity to say eddie is straight and buck isnt his journey despite KNOWING there was a chance fans were going to go insane bc i KNOW he knows how huge the buddie fandom is and how buddie fans are hopeful) like hello ????!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!
#buddie#ryan guzman#oliver stark#buck x eddie#eddie x buck#also i hope the show knows if they dont make buddie canon that is LITERAL queerbaiting :)#bc compare to bucktemu- they were actually canon so bucktemu is not queerbait obviously#but buck and eddie were NEVER together and they kept implaying weird sus shit without denying it when it comes to buddie and THATS#is what queerbaiting is :) buddie is literal queerbait if they dont become canon and i doubt they wanna do shit like that in 2024#but anyway imma keep my hopes down cause i dont trust them and i dont want to be baited again so no thank#imma remain under the radar and hopefully hibernate#pls wake me up when buddie DOES become canon and endgame thanks#also i feel like people shouldnt be getting their hopes up just in case#cause they never confirmed anything we are just being delusional#idk i have a bad feeling about this 👀 but i dont want to salt it so nvm#postive vibes only ✨️#MANIFESTING BUDDIE CANON ✨️ 😌 ❤️ 🙌 👌 💖 ✨️ 😌 ❤️ 🙌 👌 💖 ✨️ 😌 ❤️ 🙌 👌 💖 ✨️ 😌 ❤️ 🙌 👌 💖 ✨️ 😌#2025 maybe#or probably season 9 or 10 lets be honest

genuinely confused why so many people are saying things like “i’m tired of the will they won’t they i wish they would just tell us if it’s gonna happen or not” (kinda defeats the purpose of will they won’t they?) or from the bummy stans “i wish they would shut down buddie fans once and for all” (both real posts i saw)
just wondering how y’all think watching a show is supposed to work? they aren’t going to come out and say either way until it happens in the show, don’t know why you would think it should go any other way.
they aren’t going to do an interview about episode 7 just to say “yeah tommy’s here for now but don’t worry he’ll be gone and we’ll get buddie going” like that’s not how it works, interviews in the middle of a season are purposefully vague and sometimes intentionally misleading, that’s kinda the point. this isn’t the type of show they want you to be able to predict, of course they’ll mislead us on purpose when they get the chance.
it’s very unlikely that any interview will reveal where the show is taking this, and no interviews yet have said strictly one way or the other so i’m not sure why people are acting like they have
#the tim minear one where he said buck wanted tommy’s attention and all the bummy stan’s took it to be confirmation that they’re endgame#and that buddies never happening#confused where you got that since the exact wording was ‘i never said it was eddie’s attention he wanted’#okay so that confirms nothing cool#like ‘i never said that’ okay cool and you still haven’t#they’re gonna have to be a lot more straightforward than that for me to believe it wasn’t vague on purpose#you never said he wanted eddie’s attention you just showed it for the whole episode and then misdirected it at the last minute#like it’s definitely still giving that bucks confused about his feelings (for eddie) and projecting them onto tommy#his conversation with maddie all but directly said that#even tommy noticed#there’s no way all of that was unintentional#but obviously when they interview about it they aren’t going to say that yet#they need to draw it out and build interest#they want us to argue that’s literally the point#that’s how you build interest for a show#buddie#911#911 on abc#eddie diaz#evan buckley#bucktommy#911 abc#911 buddie

You guys need to calm the fuck down. You're not better than new fans, you're not better than people who are happy bisexuals get representation. Go outside and touch some grass and stop being chronically online. You're making the fandom more toxic because you personally don't like a decision? Grow the fuck up
(who needs homophobes spewing hate us for this when we have so many militant buddie fans attacking anyone who is excited)
#911 abc#911 fox#911#im not sorry for not holding back my words#this fandom had an amazing 12 hours and then so much negativity exploded within it#obviously i want buddie endgame but im just happy at the moment thay us bisexuals - especially bisexual men - are getting representation#and i dont hate bucktommy as a couple#its basically wish.com buddie#so i have no doubt buck might realise what he loves about tommy is basically that hes eddie but openly queer

thoughts in the tags. genuine reflection of the season so far. not with any malice. more slightly sad resignation and a reminder to feel joy.
this is just a tv show after all <3
#i have been biting my tongue so hard i've tasted blood all season and i just need to reflect for a sec#y'all are being so vindictive this season and i don't get it? buck being tommy's first was obvious from the get go and no tommy is not a ba#character or person and no the relationship wasnt bad#it was there for buck to feel safe and to feel queer joy#tommy protecting his own heart is not negative either and buck will go on in his bi journey with the safe joyful memory even though he#wanted more#like this was not about neither buddie or bucktommy#this arc was about BUCK and the beginning of him being himself#i enjoyed the tommy time and i'm gonna enjoy whatever happens next and i obviously would love buddie endgame#but i BEG you all to just embrace joy and stop souring this experience for yourself and each other and us who are just enjoying Everything#i'm sick of this pissing contest no one even knows the territories anymore cuz it all just stinks#the bullying the sniping the 'i never lose' bla bla bla#like aren't you all tired#this is not coming from a higher than thou place. but i observe and i see you all. and i'm just? yk remember when we all just wanted buck t#have a nice relationship while we had to deal with taylor? YALL REMEMBER TAYLOR?!#has this really been so bad? we literally live in a world where buck kisses men#or have you forgotten the joy we felt when that happened#my point is several things can be good at the same time#the bucktommy was good for buck's queer development and the buddie signs are good for OBVIOUS reason#just a little reminder there is joy in most things#you can obviously feel whatever you want to feel but just.... remember joy#ok bisous#ANYWAYS eddie in tighty whities ey. crazy

Okay everyone listen to me Tim posting a B/T video (if he even did because his FB is private and people are saying he posted it but took it down) does not mean he’s saying Buddie is a no go and T*mmy is Buck’s endgame.
First of all let’s remember that Tim wanted to do Buck’s bi storyline years ago particularly back in season 4 and this was likely going to lead to Buddie (look at how the shooting arc was handled).
Second so much of this season has been geared towards Buddie. We had a lot of joint interviews with Ryan and Oliver (more than ever before). We’ve had Buddie talked about in pretty much every interview Oliver and Ryan have done both together and separately this season. This is not something that happened (to this extent) previously, it’s clear Fox did not really want them talking about Buddie. Also remember that if Buddie wasn’t happening and if Tim and ABC didn’t want them talking about Buddie they wouldn’t be allowing these kinds of questions over and over again. They would answer the Buddie question once or twice and that would be the end of it. Everyone knows how much people ship Buddie especially Tim. I'm positive he knows it would be really stupid to keep bringing it up if he wanted the subject to die down.
More importantly let’s look at how this season has gone we’ve had Buck and Eddie together more than ever. Tim even explicitly stated he was trying to put Buddie scenes in almost every episode. Look at how he answered that person about the karaoke scene. Tim basically said he was a Buddie shipper too.
Also think about this Tim knew he was going to have Buck come out and naturally it stands to reason that when it happened people were going to speculate more than ever about Buddie. If Tim has no intention of making Buddie happen and if his long term goal has been to put Buck with T*mmy as Buck's forever love interest (Like Bathena and Madney) wouldn't he have handled this season differently?
I'm not saying Buck and Eddie wouldn't have scenes together if the plan is never for them to be a couple, obviously not they're best friends but I do think Tim would have been extra careful with this being the first season Buck is out as as a bi character. Yet like I said we've had Buddie together more than ever. We've had them talking about sexual tension, dressing in couples costumes (when the actual pair that is dating didn't), singing karaoke together (even if most of it got cut), Buck talking about Eddie's cologne, Buck being a parental figure to Chris, Buck coming out to Eddie in a private quiet scene (when he only had two coming out talks this season), a buddie hug when we haven't had one for years, Buck talking about how he wished he could help Eddie when Eddie was talking about being sexually frustrated.
Most importantly though and what really seals the deal for me on why I think Buddie is happening is that Buck's entire bi awakening episode was focused very heavily on Eddie. Buck was NOT jealous that Eddie was getting to spend time with T*mmy in that episode (i.e. jealous because he wanted to spend time with T*mmy) he was jealous because Eddie was spending so much time and sharing parts of himself with someone else. He was jealous of T*mmy getting to spend time with Eddie and felt like he was being replaced. He thought him and Eddie had something special but then he sees the connection Eddie so easily formed with T*mmy and it hurt him.
We just haven't (as of yet) seen Buck really be willing to dig deeper to understand what he was truly feeling during all of that. How it was all about Eddie and not T*mmy. At this point all Buck knows is that T*mmy kissed him and Buck realized oh I like guys and he's reveling in the newness of all of that. At some point though he's going to realize none of this was ever about T*mmy and that even the main things drawing him to T*mmy were because of his similarities to Eddie. (I wrote a whole post about this episode btw)
But back to my point and that's why would Tim make a whole episode about how Buck obviously has feelings for Eddie and make it in the same episode where the audience (especially the general audience) realizes that Buck isn't straight? Why do that if Buddie isn't in the plans? If Tim's goal is B/T he still could have had something with Buck being jealous. What if T*mmy was hanging out with Chim and the rest of the 118 and he started being friends with all of them. They could have had it where Buck felt threatened kind of like he did in season 2 with Eddie but what it really was about was that Buck liked T*mmy and didn't know how to express that. What I'm saying is that Tim wasn't backed into a corner with this bi Buck storyline and T*mmy there were so many different ways he could have told it. He chose to tell it where it revolved very heavily around Eddie. Buck was even talking about Eddie right before and after he kissed T*mmy what exactly are we supposed to take away from that?
I know B/T stans like to say we just see what we want to see but decisions like having Eddie feature so heavily in Buck's coming out ep aren't made on a whim these are very deliberate especially when the powers that be know how much people ship these characters. Very specific choices have been made to tell a story with Buck and Eddie this season that is leading them towards the same goal and that's eventually together. If you're not seeing that it's because you don't want to.
There's also the fact that if B/T is the ship we're supposed to be rooting for if it's the ship that's going to be as big to 911 as Bathena and Madney (at least according to B/T fans) why has there been so little focus on them? I know some people might say it's a shorter season and they already have so much to fit. Or that they're trying to go slow with B/T's story but here's the thing they rushed into having Buck come out to the audience in one episode and then rushed into having him come out to all the other characters a couple of episodes after that. If Tim wanted more focus on B/T there would be. They also wouldn't even have to do much with them. We've barely even seen them have an actual conversation and the few times we have most of it has been when there has been some kind of uncomfortableness or annoyance between them. Like when Buck was full of anxiety during the date (and then T*mmy made that closet joke) or when Buck was upset about T*mmy not dressing up and T*mmy seemed annoyed.
I don't know I've watched a ton of different shows and to me this doesn't feel like how you build a ship you want the audience to root for. And I'm not saying that you can't have two people at odds and then have them get together. I love a good enemies to lovers thing but that's not what this is. To me the show is trying to tell us that Buck and T*mmy have an attraction but they really aren't on the same wavelength in other areas. Plus the show is always having Buck either talking about Eddie or having Eddie show up. Like when Buck came out to Maddie and was more concerned about lying to Eddie than his date going bad. We had Maddie literally Telling Buck if he had something to tell Eddie he'd tell him in his own time. What am I supposed to think about a line like that? Or when you had Eddie there during the whole scene with B/T at the karaoke bar or how the scene immediately cut from the B/T hospital kiss to Eddie. Plus we haven't even had a mention of T*mmy since 7x06 and now we're going into the finale. You'd think that they would have at least had Buck mention T*mmy during that date night scene where Buck was watching Chris for Eddie but no instead we had Buck being rather flirty with Eddie talking about his cologne and throwing popcorn into his mouth.
Now let's look at this video. There’s a high probability Tim didn’t even watch it. It’s long and not good in my opinion (I saw it before today). B/T stans call us delusional but they’re yelling about how Tim must believe in this bs invisible string theory they came up with and because it’s mentioned in that video. But here’s what the cover looks like
And this is why I think Tim posted it (if he even did) because it’s not about what’s in the video it’s about the title.
Has 911 found Buck’s perfect match?
This is what Tim wants us thinking about going into the finale. Is T*mmy the perfect match for Buck? Some like to think so but we know there is someone better and Buck is going to realize that.
No matter what happens with Buck and T*mmy at the end of this season and even if they're still together going into season 8 I 100% don't believe that T*mmy is meant to be Buck's endgame. Buck is for all intents and purposes the shows main character. We were basically introduced to the show through him we've watched him have the most growth, tim is not going to give him some lackluster love story.
Most primetime shows have a couple that the audience can root for. A couple where the audience isn't sure if they're going to get together but everything happening with them makes you want to see it happen so it keeps the audience tuning in waiting for the day it finally does. 911 had that for a long time with Madney before they got together and then later when they broke up and got back together. But now that they and all the main couples are happily married and rather settled 911 has no main couple like that not one that will garner media and audience attention, except oh wait they do it's Buddie. If B/T were going to be the couple they were betting on we would have had at least one Oliver and Lou on screen interview by now talking about them and we haven't. We definitely would have had more press promoting the couple but we haven't. The focus like I said before is on Buddie. The focus in the episodes is towards Buddie, the focus in the media, it's all a bright neon flashing sign that says BUDDIE. Nothing is pointing towards B/T in actuality I think Buck and Taylor may have even had more press than B/T has gotten so do with that information what you will.
I know a lot of you will hear about Tim posting this and think that's it Buddie is dead in the water but it's just not true. We are closer than ever to Buddie happening I promise you. We just have to be patient and let the story play out. Please don't pay attention to all the negativity coming from that other ship in fandom. Block as much as you need to so you can keep your peace. The best thing you can do right now is to show your love for Buddie as much as possible. Make sure you're tweeting about Buddie, leaving comments about Buddie on 911's official accounts (on ig YT tiktok etc), making new posts and graphics about Buddie on tumblr. We need to continue to be a loud (respectful) presence online and to remind everyone that we won't give up on Buddie.
Sending love to all of you ❤️
And remember:

okay one last thing while i cook dinner then i’m done for the night. and i know this has been discussed a lot but i have to put in my two cents.
my problem with bucktommy is not that it gets in the way of buddie. my problem with bucktommy is tommy.
they brought back a character that actively participated in the ostracism of the people of color, women, and out queer people in the 118. his entire purpose in the begins episodes is to show how toxic of an environment the pre-bobby 118 was for anyone who wasn’t in the (presumed) cishet white man majority.
then, when reintroducing him, they swept that under the rug. i understand he has moments throughout the seasons when he seems to be on decent terms with chimney, but that doesn’t mean he ever 1. apologized or 2. changed.
which could be okay, if you want to engage with him critically. but the fans who like tommy don’t want to engage with him critically. they want to excuse his actions because he was closeted. they want to excuse his actions because he didn’t have a captain like bobby to teach him how to be a kind, empathetic person.
yet, when you are a person of color, or, god forbid, a woman in this fandom, and you want to use critical thinking skills to talk about tommy’s prejudiced past and how that changes your perception of him as a character, you get labeled as a homophobe — because everyone knows white gay men have never been known to be just as racist and misogynistic as cishet white men. no, it couldn’t be that. so obviously you just have a problem with him being gay!
personally, i could be genuinely happy with buck having an endgame relationship with another character, even tommy — IF tommy was given a proper arc to acknowledge the way he actively upheld the racist, misogynistic ideals of the 118’s old guard.
#long post#mine#i’m going to bed now <3 leaving anon on let’s see what i wake up to#not tagging this with anything that will make it break containment immediately so. sorry no 911blr tags

I'm gonna drop this out there. Buddie being endgame just. Makes sense. The series being on season 8 and having already major relationships Bobby/Athena Maddie/chimney Hen/Karen and Buck and Eddie being the only ones that still seem to struggle finding the right person is not a coincidence. We're supposed to get to this point and think to ourselves "Hey man ... Everyone's happy and in a relationship but these two... I want them to be happy too, they deserve it" and it's supposed to hit hard being as we've seen throughout the show how much Buck and Eddie have struggled in their lives but also bc having a significant other is something both Eddie and Buck crave like nothing else in the world (if them looking for the right person non stop throughout the seasons is anything to go by). They want to find that person so badly and they always try. So so hard. So why aren't they getting that? Bc it's supposed to feel as even a sweeter victory once they finally get it.
Eddie on one side, doesn't seem to click with any woman he's ever dated and feels like he's failing somehow bc it's what he's supposed to have. He's supposed to be happily married to a woman and have christoper by his side. Being a happy little traditional family. But every time, no matter how much he tries, it still feels wrong. He even admits he dated a woman bc his son loved her and he was hoping he could too at some point.
And then there's buck, that has spent 8 seasons on and off relationships, but it's different this time. It's not like Eddie. He creates an actual bond w these women. He sees a future w them. But again they're not right. Not because he's not trying but bc he does and they don't try hard enough. Or think he's too much. There's always an imbalance of some sort.
And before any of u come at me saying how bucks dating t*mmy now, i just want to point out he's very obviously a plot device sent in to introduce buck's bisexuality (and even possibly, buddie's feelings realization arc). And it will be over soon enough too, like all the other romantic relationships bucks had so far, bc it's not supposed to last.
You can tell that much by the fact that they were never off to a great start, their relationship is literally a result of buck reflecting his feelings for Eddie (we get an entire episode of Buck going insane from jealousy being desperate for Eddie's attention, him telling Maddie about it. And then the last minute change of course w buck saying "trying to get your attention has been kind of exhausting." "My attention?" "Yeah, I guess so")
well bud, you've evidently guessed wrong, that's what we were told the entire episode, he made a wrong guess.
And things don't do so great after that either. What with t*mmy almost outing him to Eddie on their first date, dumping him on the side of the road after said date (if you can even call it that). The calling Buck "Evan" thing, after we've explicitly been told that people that truly know him call him Buck. Not having his back on things aka the refusal to dress up for the bachelor party (isn't that what truly matters though? Having a partner and knowing that they have your back?).
Anyway ! Fear not buddie enthusiasts ! whatever this season brings us, know that these guys are definitely getting their much deserved happy ending <3
#im just chilling knowing theyre endgame#buddie#911 abc#eddie diaz#evan buckley#buck x eddie#911 analysis

I just had a thought regarding the “Tim should punish Buddie fans” of it all. Because at the end of the day it’s a TV show, the thing they care most about is ratings. Tim has admitted that the show got worse and ratings got worse when he stopped writing Buddie scenes (something I’m sure ABC is very aware of). So it honestly shouldn’t matter if some Buddie fans are annoying - we represent the majority opinion, which affects the ratings. Yeah they may lose some of the gained viewers from the BT stans if they breakup but it’s nothing on the viewers they’ll lose if they force Eddie into another straight relationship and separate Buck and Eddie for separate endgames.
Okay, pure speculation here, but the show is a business as much as it is a story and a show has to deal with stuff a book or a movie don't. Since the story is not contained, they need to adapt to the circumstances in which it is airing. We know for a fact that fox was against Buck being bi and that gives us the chance to infer that they were against the buddie thing as a whole. We know this was supposed to happen during s4, we know s5 separates Buck and Eddie physically since Eddie leaves the station, so that reduces their screentime without major problems because while we were getting less casual buddie since they weren't working together, we got a lot of quality buddie during Eddie's breakdown. They continued to reduce the Buck and Eddie of it all during 6a. No one was happy about it. We were NOT happy that we were missing out on their dynamic except for a few moments that were thrown in. That so created a problem that they overcorrect that in 6b. We all knew the lightning was coming but the promo had a lot of Eddie's reaction to it, we even got a bts video of Ryan running up the ladder, the do more was the teaser scene we got, when we got recovery and mixed feelings, with recovery giving us some quality buddie, and mixed feelings giving us a lot of buddie overall. Obviously, the threat of cancellation made them shift things around, we know there were reshoots, we know they tried to wrap things up in case that was the final season, and that made them drop the ball with buddie for a second there after the cemetery, but they fixed that during s7, because there was a LOT of buddie, especially considering it was reduced season. Abc has a lot of good queer rep, they seem to like their glaad awards nominations. We obviously have no idea of why fox was blocking biBuck, and again, pure speculation, but I am willing to bet you that the buddie of it all was part of the conversation while the buy was being negotiated or at least while they were discussing the plans to integrate 911 to abc once the buy was finalized. The abc people have an outside perspective on buddie, the same way we do, and buddie is a compelling dynamic that can be a gold mine if they play their cards right. If, I, a random person on the internet with a blog and hyperfixation and nothing to gain from it, can reach the conclusion that getting buddie together can bring them a shit load of exposure, I guarantee you that someone there reached that conclusion too. I believe they sat down with the team and asked "what's the deal with Buck and Eddie? Is there a plan?" and they reached some conclusion to finally get them there because they took Ryan out of pr jail and continuously put Oliver and Ryan together leading up to the season and the Buck and Eddie talk did not stop once Buck being bi was canonically confirmed.
Logistically, if the plan was to simply make Buck bi and not make the Buck and Eddie a thing, obviously, Eddie wouldn't be involved with Buck's bi arc the way he is in the story, but they would also not involve Ryan in the promotion with Oliver like that. It's 2024, no one wants queerbaiting allegations thrown at them. We lived through the mcu, and teen wolf, and supernatural, and no one wants to be that guy. They have a compelling dynamic that's been drawing people in for years, and they could've gone the whole show with both of them being perceived as straight in universe, keep doing what they were doing, leave us in the will they/won't they, and keep our part of the audience forever because we would keep coming back waiting to see them together. Personally, I think Buck being bi was a trial run in many ways from the business side of it. Buck is extremely well liked by the audience, he is a fan favorite, so people are a lot more lenient with his shit than other characters, that means that if Buck being bi was poorly received by the general audience, they could backtrack him out of it a lot easier and just introduce another pretty girl and not go there. Male bisexual rep is also not all that common, it's usually the pretty girl best friend that you later find out had a girlfriend in college who may or may not be in love with the female lead, so it stands on its own in the conversation. And, well, Buck being bi was extremely well received. Ship war aside, there is a significant part of the new influx of people who are just as invested in the Buck and Eddie of it all even with another male love interest in the mix. And there was a huge influx of people. Somewhere in the 911 team, someone is making predictions and they are aware that Eddie being queer will have the same type of reaction. Eddie might not be as popular as Buck on his own, but with the added fact that queer Eddie means buddie is coming, they get the same boom that biBuck had. They also became the first media to do this. No superhell, no complicated feelings for a car, no going back to the past. Just a compelling relationship between two male characters that's been drawing people in since the beginning that changed into something romantic and requited. They would be the first to take the popular m/m ship that drives the internet crazy and make it happen. I know of a lot of traumatized destiel or sterek or stucky or whatever else who are waiting for Eddie to be confirmed queer to start watching the show with the whole 911 already had queer rep, Buck being bi is no guarantee they'll follow through, I don't wanna be disappointed again. Which is fair, but it is a second wave of people that could come into the show. Buck and Eddie are unheard of rep. It's a 6+ seasons queer slowburn. They are best friends, they have a kid, their devotion to each other is very clear. Abc has the chance to go full Elle Woods "what like it's hard?" to every queerbaity ship that came before buddie. Especially considering we have Oliver on record multiple times saying fox was blocking it. And that would make them so much money. So much exposure. We're talking become subjects in television history classes for the rest of times because they were the first to pull through. We're not just talking ratings, we're talking being put next to genre-defining couples in media. They are a gold mine that Oliver and Ryan are on board with, that Tim seems to be on board with and that abc clearly likes using for promotion so they at least understand the numbers they could bring, so not going there because a fraction of the fandom is being bitchy on the internet is bad business.
Season 6 gave them the perfect opening to separate Buck and Eddie but they used season 7 to bring them closer together than they've ever been. If the plan was to make them end up with other people, they had the chance to make that clear this season, and they didn't. They're not gonna throw it away like this to "punish fans". They would be punishing themselves.

You are always 100% right and valid btw. Because like buck and Tommy are broken up, but you also have several interviews released today where Ryan calls Buck and Eddie “brothers” and where Oliver explicitly says Eddie is straight so they will most likely continue to be just friends. So if it wasn’t for Buddie, what was the point in throwing away a relationship the audience was actually behind??
Yeah, this has always been my problem with the idea of Buck and Tommy breaking up and, now that it's happened, I can finally unload all my thoughts.
Listen, my Buddie mutuals are very assured that Buck and Eddie will get together and have this lush and beautiful arc where they settle into a relationship and feel out the kinks in their dynamic and really blend together, and I respect that. I would love to see that happen. But I don't have that same confidence. Don't get me wrong, I DO think Buck and Eddie will probably get together, I just don't think it's going to happen until the last episode of the last season in a way that's more reminiscent of Johnlock "canon" (for those who did not watch BBC Sherlock: John and Sherlock continued to live together and raise John's daughter, but this was revealed in a montage without ever actually seeing them get together, or confirm that they were in a romantic relationship) than anything.
Why? Well, because it's easier to tease your audience than it is to follow through.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think Tim is teasing the fandom in a malicious way, and—if nothing else—I know he is very aware of what these boys and the implication of their relationship means to people. 9-1-1 has always handled their relationship with a particular gravitas, and I don't see that changing now. But Tim has been writing Buck and Eddie for years. He knows what gets people going, he knows what this fandom likes to see, and what they'll read into. So why would he rush into making them "endgame," especially if he knows he already wants to take them in that direction? He has no incentive to make it happen Right Now because everyone will lap up what he puts out anyway.
And I get it, because I do love Buck and Eddie's relationship. I love the way they interact with each other and, yes, I will lap up any scene between them. But that's the part I find so draining too. I'm going to be honest, I've never liked a "will-they-won't-they" couple. As a personal preference, I've always liked to have a clear vision of a story's trajectory when I go into it. That's how I write, and that's what I gravitate toward in fiction. So the idea of going through any number of love interests until Buck and Eddie are "ready for each other" (so sick of that phrase. sob.) is literally... exhausting to me, and not in a fun way. Because this is a loop that could theoretically continue on, and on, and on, until whenever the powers that be decide enough is enough.
Sure, Eddie is happy and free now. Great. But he still doesn't know he's Queer. What happens when he does realize that? Does he need to date a guy first in order to be "ready" for Buck? Similarly (because their romantic arcs always run parallel to each other), when Buck fucks and sucks his way through Los Angeles, does he stumble upon a hot girl/guy and date her/him until Eddie's "ready" for him? How many times, exactly, am I going to sit through another love interest until they're on the same page after, by my count, three false starts? You know?
I'm obviously along for the ride. Always have been, always will be, and I fought too hard over the summer to maintain my love for these boys and their relationship to let it waste away now. But I desperately, desperately need Tim to give me something substantial that CLEARLY, and EXPLICITLY indicates IMMEDIATE strides toward ROMANTIC Buddie Canon. And I mean crystal clear. Not "building a thousand words of meta off a single line/moment" clear. Not "this look probably definitely means Eddie was thinking about ripping Buck's clothes off" clear. I mean, I want it so damn clear, a sixty-five year old grandpa with cataracts can see it.
Otherwise I'm just going to get really annoyed.

Obviously I’ve been queerbaited before, like, a genuinely incalculable number of times, and maybe thinking Buddie might actually go canon is a ‘fool me sixteen times, shame on me’ scenario, but I think one big thing that’s keeping my hope alive is this thought: If you genuinely believe that Buddie isn’t going to go canon, 100% zero possibility and absolutely no intention of trying... Then you also have to believe the people who create the show we’re all fans of are purposefully cruel dicks.
Because we have SEEN what it looks like when the showrunner of 911 knows there is no possibility of it happening, has no plans of it, and is generally trying to avoid accusations of queerbaiting.
It looks like S5 & S6. Little bits here and there, the odd important scene to throw breadcrumbs… but a lot of keeping the two characters apart, being circumspect in interviews, PR shut downs on the actors, etc. The show has proven they are capable and willing to exactly that!
So indulge me, and imagine for a second. They had the conversation with the new network, and the execs told them they wanted to continue with the status quo, to write as if Buddie is never going to go canon, BUT were willing to bend so far as to make one of them queer, to keep the fans happy.
What would that look like?
I don't know, call me foolish.... But I think it would look like keeping the same dynamic from The Drought Seasons. Having them be friends and important to each other but still fairly disconnected, not having as much screen-time, etc, It would look like having Buck’s coming out arc be a SEPARATE, individual narrative. If they just wanted to write Tommy and Buck, and that's it, they could have done things differently.
There are just so many conceivable ways they could have written Buck’s coming out arc, to almost completely separate it from Eddie and have it be made clear, in no uncertain terms, that Buck is bi but that doesn’t mean he cares about Eddie like that, that Eddie is a hetero McHetero.
Buck’s coming out arc could have included him being jealous because he’s suddenly faced with Tommy in the flesh and is insecure about how he was technically ‘Tommy’s replacement’ at the 911, with Eddie not relevant to it at all, or have Maddie and Chimney be the ones to interrupt The Date, or literally any other scenario that didn’t make it all about Eddie.
They could have had one short scene where Eddie and Buck talk about it, and then the rest would be like, Buck talking to Hen about being queer, Buck interacting just with Tommy and getting to know him, Buck doing a research binge about bisexuality and info-dumping at an inappropriate time during a call, etc etc etc.
That’s how you tell that story and only be writing it for the proverbial ‘general audience’.
But they didn't. They purposefully reversed direction. They chose for Buck’s coming out arc to... highlight his nigh-feral jealousy over Eddie forming a homosocial bond with another guy, having said guy repeat with genuine surprise and shock that it was him and not Eddie that Buck was interested in, have Eddie interrupt their date, have Buck be more worried about lying to Eddie than the fact that he’s queer at all, have Maddie say what she did to Buck about telling Eddie in specifically ambiguous terms…
In a season that also included the Fire Extinguisher Incident, and Buck saying he ‘wishes he could help’ with Eddie’s sexual frustration, and a big increase in social media engagement, and having Buck being Eddie’s rock in the last few episodes while he had a bizarrely platonic affair with his dead wife's doppleganger…
If they did that while KNOWING the plan was actually for Buck/Tommy endgame and Eddie riding off in the sunset with a hot female firefighter who has a cool motorcycle or whatever the fuck, or them both dying in a freak car-washing accident, or….
If they GENUINELY planned that? If the entire Buck jealousy plotline was intended to be nothing more than a deliberate queerbait-and-switch? Then they’re fucking assholes, sorry. They would have to know full well exactly what they were doing, how many people’s hopes and emotional investment they were toying with... If they were actually planning to keep dragging it along for seasons more of baiting and dangling things in front of us, while knowing categorically that they had no plans to deliver? That would be genuinely GOD TIER levels of specific, intentional queerbaiting.
Which could be the case! I won't deny that. Shows have done it before, plenty of times. Tim et al could be callous bastards deliberately instructing the actors to wink it up in interviews and share suggestive Tiktoks, and writing Buck’s coming out arc as being entirely focused around Eddie and throwing out hints... All while laughing behind Buddie fans' backs about our gullibility, how we’re keeping the show trending on the force of our delusions, etc. Maybe that's it! Maybe they just genuinely enjoying fucking with people. Or maybe they were just shitty enough writers that they didn't know what they were doing, and it was all a total accident, somehow, the proverbial monkeys pounding at keyboards and accidentally spelling out B U D D I...
But you know what? Call it naive, but I prefer to think they’re not huge assholes, or hugely incompetent.
That there might actually be a point to all this, somewhere down the line.
I guess we'll find out.

Honestly, it may sound crazy, but a huge proof to me that Buck and Eddie are endgame and have been intended to be canon for a while (and keep getting network push-back) is the lack of a no-homo 'I love you, bro'. They are close; I put you in my will, I'm helping you raise a child close. I'll help you re-patch your walls and work through your panic attacks. I know how long your heart stopped beating, I've tasted your blood close.
In a lot of other shows, they would have already established their relationship as akin to brothers or have had a moment of 'I love you, we're family, your my best friend forever yada yada'. A big way shows try to get around people shipping two people together is trying to establish it as a familial bond. You see this in shows like Supernatural and Hawaii 5-o, where they make people insanely close only to use fallback phrases or rhetoric like 'we're brothers, we're family, I love you', especially after ridiculously romantic moments.
To get to my point, there have been a frankly obnoxious amount of opportunities for the writers and creators to try and make Buck and Eddie's relationship more platonic or throw out a casual I love you. And I really think that is because a) they want to use that as an 'oh' moment, like 'oh, I love you in the big way, the I want to spend the rest of my life with you way'. Or b) they want them to have an established relationship and get together first so that their first I love you can be an even bigger deal. Or lastly c) they don't know how to have either of them say it without it feeling too big and romantic and are just avoiding it.
BUT! With Eddie's phrase of 'he'll love you like the rest of use do', that is the closest we've ever had to acknowledgment of the love that is obviously there, platonic or otherwise. And with that small little indication, I really, truly believe we are getting an 'I love you' from one or the other in season 8. In either a platonic sense to nail home that Eddie is straight, or as the catalyst for buddie endgame. But I am seeing the vision and feeling pretty damn good as S8 starts filming next week.

Controversial (?) opinion: I want Buck to date a woman if/when he breaks up with Tommy. In a lot of shows I see a character come out as bi and immediately start only dating ppl of the opposite gender (Rosa from B99 is one i think of). Id really love to see Buck explore a relationship with a woman afterwards in the context of his bisexuality!! Obviously i know everyone wants Buddie endgame which i am on board with but before they get together (if they do i want this.
#its so important to me to see bisexual characters like both genders#thats all i want#plz 911#911#911 abc#911 show#911 spoilers#911 fox#911 season 7#evan buckley#bisexual evan buckley#buddie#tevan#bucktommy

okay, so i've seen some people claim that tim minear is an avid buddie shipper and that he's slowly but surely laying the groundwork for buck and eddie to become canon in the future and...
i'm just thoroughly confused about this assertion.
i'll preface this by saying i'm very new to the fandom, so i'm prepared to be wrong about this. i'm aware i may lack crucial context because i've been here only so long. also, i don't know tim personally, so i obviously can't speak to his true intentions, but i'll make my case anyway.
i'll cite two RECENT comments by tim that i assume people might draw this conclusion from:
[?: There is a sect of the fandom that just wants 9-1-1 to be the Buck and Eddie show, and any cut that removes a second of them is going to get the same reaction. Nothing short of renaming the show "Christopher's Two Dads" is going to make them happy.] T: I totally get that. I even appreciate it. Which explains the entire first act of last night's episode. I kind of did for the Buck/Eddie fans (I mean I really do it for myself in the end). I just thought... they'd like it? Shrug. I liked it, so whatever.
Minear tells Rolling Stone that he hasn’t just been aware of fan reactions, he’s actually changed storylines in the past to avoid being accused of queerbaiting. But rather than help, he says it made the show worse. “Nobody wants to be accused of queerbaiting so I kind of stopped writing those characters together. And I think it hurt the show because I was so afraid to be accused of something that I wasn’t going where I would naturally go with the stories,” Minear says. “I just decided that I just have to write the thing that I think is right. I just have to be honest with the story I’m telling and let the chips fall where they may.”
now, i may be biased, but this doesn't read to me like he plans on buddie endgame at all.
while it's clear he loves the bond between buck and eddie and enjoys highlighting it in the show, saying he totally wants them to end up together feels like a reach.
he discusses being accused of queerbaiting in the past, which led him to backtrack a little and stop writing buck and eddie together. how does this suggest he did it because he wants buddie to become canon? if that were his intention he could have continued to drop more (apparent!) hints that buck and eddie may love each other in a non-platonic way. he wouldn't care about the accusations of queerbaiting so much, because he would be planning to make them canon all along. sure, there are external constraints that could prevent this from ever materializing, but that doesn't mean he couldn't write the dialogue in a clearly ambiguous way so that once he gets a pass and everyone else involved is on board with it, he could confirm that "yeah, you were right; it was a good ol' friends-to-lovers slow burn trope all along. congrats!!" no. instead he backtracked because he didn't want anyone to think he was writing buddie as anything other than a platonic relationship. that's it. but he eventually realized it doesn't really matter because people are going to think what they want to think regardless. and he obviously loves buck and eddie's friendship so he might as well just make the most out of it at this point. and if he ever feels like maybe it is a good time to turn their friendship into something more because it feels right for story, he'll go for it. but if not, he won't.
i see a lot of people claim buddie is a six-season-long slow burn, being carefully crafted right now for future canonization. and they say tim basically confirmed this. but i really can't see his comments being a confirmation of the sort.
if there are any quotes i'm missing that suggest otherwise, i would love to go through them. so if anyone's aware of any, please don't hesitate to hit me up.
but at the moment i believe y'all are just setting yourselves up for disappointment.
#i'm half asleep writing this#i don't even know if this makes sense#anyway#i'm open to discussion#if anyone has any thoughts on this i'll happily read through them#bucktommy#not tagging the other ship for reasons#evan buckley#tim minear#daffy quacks
