An event suggestion: Fanbruary

So NaNo put its foot in it and I'm uncomfortable with things as they are. I'm all for growth and admitting they made a mistake but unless I've missed something that's not what's happening. (The very short version is: NaNo as a corporation has accepted AI, including taking money from an AI company as of 9/4/24.)

I'm not even angry, I'm just disappointed. That's a lie I'm a little angry and a lot betrayed.

Anyway, what if we hold our own event? Fanbruary? We could even arrange a community and discord around it, and have tiers based off wordcount goals.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT FANDOM LOCKED!!! Anyone can participate as long as they're polite and obey some minimal rules about kindness and good sense.

While the surface of Mobius might be busy dealing with long-term problems like governing zones, up on the Floating Island, Knuckles has more pressing matters to dealing with following the fallout of issue 100

That’s certainly a big plot point to potentially revisit one day, but you’ll be waiting a long time, since it never gets picked up again during StC. There certainly were plans for it, but I’ll be talking about that more in Zachary’s post-mortem post following this update

I’m not sure why this guy is being so abrasive with Knuckles, given how they’ve all gotten along great before this. Guess everyone’s a bit rattled after almost being turned into a giant computer. I love how Knuckles is so calm about it as well. Just “Yeah, I guess you’re right”

This is such a lovely last page of the story, with Knuckles and Porker standing in the Emerald Chamber, finally able to relax and think about getting started on those repairs after everything they’ve been through. At least, Knuckles is thinking about those repairs, since he probably doesn’t know yet that Porker intends to stay with him. But we’ll get to that soon

For now, Knuckles gets a chance to rest after his long journey and we’ll be checking in on Super Sonic next time before getting back to him

Six Sentence Sunday (with a new look)

This week's clip is context free, to keep the mystery alive for the @carryon-reverse-bang project I'm working on with a friend of mine. I'm really excited about it, though, and I will tell you that it skirts the line between full AU and canon divergence.

I've decided to flip things about this week, so since all of my snippets thus far have been angsty Baz POV, I'm offering up a little light Simon POV. Enjoy!

Near jump out of my skin when my mobile rings. It’s Penny. Hell’s bells, I was supposed to call her. “You didn’t call me,” she says as a greeting. “You were supposed to call me from the train station.” Crowley, she sounds like her mum. “I know, I’m sorry,” I say, mostly to get it out of the way. “But the train was late and there was this bloke in a three piece waiting to drive me.” “So you’re there? What’s it like?” (I signed an NDA before I came here, but she'll push it to the limit, which she knows way better than me, as she went over the contract before she let me so much as touch a pen.) (She’s studying to be a solicitor and wants to take on magickal law. That’s either brilliant or scary. Both, probably.) “It’s… um. Dark.”

(NDA's are for normals and people who don't have a Penelope in their back pocket.)

Finished my second read of @fiveht ‘s Adore series in three weeks. I'm obsessed. I dunno why, but I am. Like screaming, life-changing level of obsessed with the two in this fic and the way it's written. I don't know what's wrong with me. Ugh. I'm probably going to read it again in like two weeks when just thinking about it won't be enough again. Either way, more people need to read this fic. Oh, you say you don't headcanon them like this? Well, I didn’t either before. But people, what isn't, can always be. That's the beauty of life. All the unexpected. It changes us, for better or worse.

So. We have had brief but great excitement, today, when a storm front barreled through, hitting 80mph winds for just a bit.

That bit legit tore off the top half of trees. And, predictably, Ann Arbor is now without power in significant areas, including my apartment.

A) Thank goodness I I shelled out for a UPS for the computer; the power flickers seem to have fried one of my /outlets/, but my computer is safe and sound.

B) Thank goodness I shelled out for a genuine backup battery, and have a good five days worth of power for my devices and LED lanterns.

C) That battery-powered shower head-with-pump that was next up on my household kit list? That’s getting here tomorrow. Warm showers for me, by damn, regardless of whether the power’s back on.

D) Have some tree wreckage pics.

i like working at plant store. sometimes you ring up someone and there's a slug on their plant and so you're like "Oh haha you've got a friend there let me get that for you" and you put the slug on your hand for safekeeping but then its really busy and you dont have time to take the slug outside before the next customer in line so you just have a slug chilling on your hand for 15 minutes. really makes you feel at peace with nature. also it means sometimes i get to say my favorite line which is "would you like this free slug with your purchase"
