Halfa Cass Ch 10 part 1
masterpost
“Tyranny!” Damian bellowed. His little face was red with fury.
Cass crossed her arms and nodded agreement. She was not accepting any more changes to her life at this time. Things were already happening, too much.
“Nevertheless,” said cruel Batdad. “The pediatric nutritionist will be here tomorrow.” He was trying very hard to seem composed and unaffected by their upset. But he was affected. So affected. And yet he persisted on traveling down the wrong path.
Cass hissed.
Their natural ally, Alfred, put his nose up a little as he cleared the dinner dishes. He sniffed as he left, unhappy-stiff. Cass did not know how he had been defeated. Food was his domain, not some interloper with a pathetic weepy Doctorate of nutritional sciences.
“He designs the meal plans for child Olympians,” Batdad coaxed. He wanted them to like him soooo much. “Standard advice is not necessarily very useful for extreme athletes. You might feel better afterwards. Wouldn’t that be nice?” Gentle, gentle, pleading.
No!!!
Damian stabbed his fork upright into his cinnamon roll and pointed an index finger at their tormentor. “I will not submit. I consume an adequately varied and nutritious diet. Whatever your true aims are, I will not be moved.”
Cass scarfed down her own dessert messily, scowling at Batdad the whole time as if to say: come and take it from me. Can you? You can’t.
Duke watched this with clever eyes darting between Batdad and his siblings. His body said: I don’t care. But I won’t pick Bruce publicly. What can I get? Can I make trouble?
Hmm. Cass didn’t like that. She narrowed her eyes at him. He should philosophically agree with their cause. She was going to crawl under his bed and hiss, scary sounds to wake him up and go BOO.
She made a mental note to do that before patrol tonight. If she could even fit it in, jeeze.
Ugh. So busy. Always so much to do.
The tension was high when they trooped to the cave for briefing, before Duke went to bed and everyone else took their pre-patrol nap. Cass lingered sullenly because she wanted to hear Duke’s report on the mechanic. Jacqueline’s apartment had been sneakily snuck through. The conclusion?
“There’s a lot of work clothes in the apartment, but no tools or anything like that. No references or books, aside from a couple of ones from the university library.” Duke fidgeted, micromovement. Not an interesting report. Not an enjoyable detour. “There’s no indication as to what she’s been working on. I took DNA samples off some dirty dishes and hair off the sofa. They’re filed for processing.”
Disappointing. The next step was unclear. Cass frowned. Should they try to observe again? Wait for Jacqueline to leave her lair and follow? Perhaps they should enter the apartment and lurk, ask questions. Tell her: We know your criminal associations. Stop it. Stop it, Jacqueline.
Damian stuck his lips out. He would say: This is not a pout, Cain.
It was a pout.
“I see.” Timbird took notes, fingers flying. Tap tap tap. “You’re passing the case back?”
“It’s all yours,” he said, nodding to Damian. Babybat nodded solemnly. My responsibility. He looked at her. Cass nodded: I have your bat-back. Let’s creep on Jacqueline, as a family.
Hmm. It was too quiet. Usually, there was Batdad commentary. She snuck a look at him even though she and Damian were ignoring him for his cruelties.
Batdad was pondering. He was paying enough attention, but his mind was on something else. Hmm. Cass prodded him. “Ah- Tim, did you upload your conclusions about the Amity Park case?”
Oh. Cass kept her body still, letting it say: I’m bored, I don’t care.
Timbird sighed and ruffled his hair. The gel made a little crackle sound. “It’s a massive government coverup,” he said. Unhappy. “I think a few residents fled, but it looks like it was a mass murder of the residents. The tank tracks came from a subdivision called the GIW, which is ridiculously over militarized.” He opened a file on one of the many Batcomputer screens. It showed a complex of buildings, taken from above. Superboy photography? “They’re doing weapons development, and it appears to be based on the designs of local scientists, also missing.”
“These scientists were affiliated with the GIW?” Batdad asked.
Tim shrugged. “Unclear.” His mouth twitched, unhappy. “There’s evidence of some collaboration, but it seemed a relatively normal exchange of information. Now, the GIW appears to have all their patented inventions and is replicating them.”
“So either these scientists are on staff or they have been removed,” Damibat scowled. A grumpy line formed between his eyebrows. So cute.
“Removed?” Duke repeated, amused.
“From this mortal coil,” Damibat repeated. Impatient. Keep up, Thomas. Haha. Cass sniggered and stuck her tongue out. Yeah. Keep up, Duke.

I’m sorry but the whole Connor Bedard having an allergic reaction because his trainer wouldn’t let him have fast food reminds me of when sdpn said that Bedard’s mom said he’s never had fast food before and like she said she knew eventually and it IS good for him to not have fast food, but it makes me think of diet culture and eating disorders. Like the no fast food thing still leaves a variety of food, and I’m sure he’s had pizza before; it’s really the fact that he couldn’t even have pizza ONE time with his team because his trainer wanted him to ‘eat healthy’ for the game (guess what due pizza is healthier than having an allergic reaction). Even if he had been on a crazy strict diet and got sick because his body wasn’t used to what’s in pizza, it’d still be healthier than an allergic reaction (and again, clearly he doesn’t care about Connor’s health just what he can do for the trainer’s image because he let him play the game and did care at all about how bad Connor was feeling.)
Like the obsession with food to the point you can’t eat xyz even once is eating disorder behavior, and I think the fact that players have to eat more than non/athletes and are expected/desire to get bigger is one of the reasons why eating disorders aren’t as common, but imagine how this messes with their heads. Like people who are like “oh my trainer is going to be mad at me for eating xyz one time don’t tell them” is like K-pop idols with management that pushed eating disorders to keep idols’ bodies marketable territory. NHL players are adults and now one should care about their diet to the point that they get mad at them for having one meal that goes against their nutrition plan. They are adults who make their own decisions and nutrition plans should a guideline to help players get what they need not a list of DO NOT EAT THIS foods or specific foods they have to eat.
(Also I think the nhl’s concept of ‘team’ is a little too close to the corporate ‘family’ which is always used to dehumanize employees and get them to give up their free time/health/family/identity for the benefit of the corporations bottom line that is never payed back to the employees. Like yes there’s the team as in the players, but there’s also that concept of team that is the pressure to get players to hurt themselves to win and shut up if they experience discrimination and also to shut up if they disagree with the nhl’s safety protocols that aren’t even follow a lot of the time.)
you said everything wonderfully, the ONLY thing i have to add, is this HEARTBREAKING quote.
"people close to him aren't sure he's ever had a cookie"
in fact that article is chock full of the MOST concerning quotes about a hockey player i have ever fucking read, "highlights include" connor stays long after practice and replies "im working" when people try and get him off the ice, when they think he's over working himself they hide his sticks because he's too superstitious to use someone else's (they have done this... multiple times), he tried to convince the coaching staff to let him play though his broken jaw because chara did so during the finals in 2019, he drank as much food and supplements as he could so he wouldn't lose weight while his jaw was still wired shut.
and yes 10000000000 fucking %, the leagues "we're a family" is NASTY, no!!! NO YOU AREN'T!!!!!! stop trying to be "a family" and start trying to be a GOOD EMPLOYER!!!!!!!

Sakusa Kiyoomi: Part of the Plan
Fandom: Haikyuu!! — [ Masterlist ]
Summary: ~0.8k, fluff
• You didn’t think helping a friend would ever lead you to be in demand from elite athlete Sakusa Kiyoomi, yet here you are.
Warnings: Post time skip spoilers.
>>>>——————————>
It was a soothing walk home you'd taken that evening, enjoying the fresh fragrance of the season when a brief interaction outside your apartment building caused you tilt your head and slow you pace.
"Oh here they are now!"
Your neighbour giddily shouted, pointing in your direction as evidence to the tall man beside her who then turned around. You recognised the athlete immediately, even without his signature teams' clothing draping his toned form.
"You made this meal plan?" It was direct, straight to the point, with recognisable scribbles held out before you.
It was apart of the plan you'd tailored for Atsumu, covering various nutritional aspects to help maintain energy and physique during the upcoming volleyball season. That damn blonde must've left it lying around at practice. You’ll get him back next time you hang out together but right now you held the prickly attention of his teammate.
"Oh yeah, I thought I was missing a page." Gratefully, you accepted the parchment with a polite smile whilst Sakusa shoved his hands in his pockets and spoke observantly through his mask.
"It's detailed, you know what you're doing."
"It's nothing overly professional but it does the job."
"It does more than that, I remember you always used to help out the volleyball team in middle school." He'd offhandedly mentioned, tilting his head slightly as if reminiscing - he was right, you were a year below and had volunteered to help the sports clubs when you could but you didn't think it'd be memorable.
Let alone to someone as antisocial and incredible as him, a top 5 Ace of the nation in Itachiyama.
"You recognise me?"
"You used a Hello Kitty plaster for my graze when first aid had run out of proper ones." This was said with what you assumed to be a disgruntled look since you couldn't see beyond his mask.
"It was a proper plaster. Just with more personality." You quipped back rather proudly, the player furrowing his brows slightly and responding with a hint of bemusement (you'd hoped).
"You said something similar back then, and I still disagree."
It was a slightly palpable silence that remained after that, unsure of how to react to Sakusa as a person rather than someone you'd considered out of reach quite yet. Thus he continued with an awkward clearing of his throat.
"Anyway, I was looking for you."
"To return my meal plan?" You instantly questioned, as if trying to aid the situation but he only shook his head before elaborating.
"To ask if you'd personalise one for me."
"Don't you have professionals for that?"
As a MSBY Black Jackals player, you’d expected them to have every amenity available to them in order to maximise performance - so for him to request such expertise from you was rather perplexing.
"I'm a picky eater." It wasn't as forward as answers you'd previously received, suggesting he was a little embarrassed about this disclosure.
"You're really gonna make this easy for me if I accept, aren’t you?" You retorted sarcastically, a raised brow sent his way but he remained unphased.
"I thought you may be looking to do this as a career, become a sport nutritionist?"
"Well I hadn't really thought that far ahead..."
Sakusa studied you thoughtfully, as if you were a new concept to his world that he didn’t understand yet, but he certainly wanted to try.
"Well as I progress, people will be interested in what I'm doing unfortunately. But it'll bring business your way."
It was considerate of him (even if he was repulsed by the idea of attention) to think about how the arrangement would benefit you also, it is an aspiring nutritions dream offer after all. Yet he presented no pressure, waiting patiently even if your casual shrug and acknowledgment wasn’t a conclusive decision.
"I mean as a Division 1 player, you're quite popular already."
"Think about it. Here's my number, give me a call if you change your mind." Sakusa gave you a slip with his contact information, burying his hands deep in his pockets once more and diverted his gaze away from you. "Or even if you don't."
"Thank you Sakusa, it was nice talking to you again."
The Spiker didn't respond verbally, instead nodding softly accompanied by a wave of his hand when walking away.
Your neighbour rejoined your side from where she’d retreated to, previously leaning against the building entrance steps with a joyous skip toward you and girly squeal to match.
"Did you just get Sakusa Kiyoomis' number?!"
"Yeah. For work."
"He came looking for you, he literally asked Miya-san for your address to return your plan himself. Then MSBYs' top spiker Sakusa Kiyoomi gave you his personal number." She reiterated again, adding emphasis and dramatics to the statement as if you'd failed to realise the weight of it.
"..." You glared discreetly, your neighbour far too enthused by such a thing, which was translated through your deadpan tone. "You're too excited about this."
"I don't think you're excited enough about this."
You ran your thumb over his elegant writing as you looked at the slip once again, a gentle smile subconsciously working its way to your lips at the thought.
“Maybe you’re right…”

3, 5, 6, 12, 22 for Kunigiri, and Rinsagi if you want to! :D
absolutely!
3. Most common argument?
For Kunigiri, it'd be about the half-drank cups of tea Chigiri leaves around their apartment. Kunigami has accidentally kicked a few over and ended up with drenched socks one too many times. Chigiri always promises to get better at cleaning them up, but gets too absorbed in books sometimes to remember.
I would see Rin's jealousy causing arguments in the early days of his relationship with Isagi. Once they've worked out that issue, I honestly can't see them arguing much. They're upfront people—they thrash out their issues before getting to the argument stage.
5. Who is most likely to carry the other?
Kunigami and Rin, bahaha. Easiest answer by far.
6. What is their favorite feature of their partner’s?
Kunigami likes Chigiri's resolve and his single-minded competitiveness. The fire within him is a draw for Kunigami.
Chigiri's big on Kunigami's muscles 😉 Nah, jokes aside, Chigiri is drawn to Kunigami because he thinks he's a far better person than Chigiri himself is. He loves the honest, fair person Kunigami is at heart.
For Isagi and Rin, they're the epitome of rivals to lovers for me. They're drawn to each other because they keep one-upping each other. In terms of personality though, Rin is drawn to Isagi's simple kindness and compassion. Isagi likes Rin's lack of pretense and the vulnerability under his hard shell.
12. Who initiates kisses?
This is highly situational. I can see Kunigami and Isagi being the ones who go in for a kiss first. For Kunigiri, Chigiri seems like the type to enjoy teasing and tempting Kunigami into kissing him, even if he wants to kiss Kunigami himself.
Isagi is more of a casual affection seeker than Rin. In terms of passion though, Rin's more likely to jump Isagi if that makes sense.
22. Who cooks more/who is better at cooking?
Kunigiri are tricky for me to answer this for, as I've written several versions of their characters in fics where one or the other are the better cook. The way I see it, Kunigami is better at basic meal planning, putting together something that has the right nutrition and macros even if it's a little boring. Chigiri's better at seasoning generally, and is good at baking. Specifically in Cassis Orange, Kunigami is the better cook.
I think Rin is absolutely clueless at cooking. He's powered by ice lollies and spite after all. Isagi isn't much better, but he's helped his mom make dinner often enough to be semi-competent. Both of them are more likely to buy combini food than cook themselves, at least until they have to maintain an athlete's diet. At that stage, they're totally hiring meal planners/preppers to get the right balance with minimal effort.

Part 2: Jack, star of the field, the making of (NEW PICTURES)
Once a successful 40-year-old football coach, Johnson found himself divorced and seeking a new purpose in life. His passion for the game burned strong, but it was his desire to nurture and shape young talent that led him down an unexpected path.
One day, news broke about a promising young football player named Jack, who possessed immense potential but struggled with gaining weight and building strength. Johnson saw this as an opportunity to not only help Jack fulfill his dreams but also reign to his own coaching career.
Coach Johnson approached Jack's parents and proposed an unorthodox plan. He would take Jack into his own home, dedicating his time and effort to guide the young athlete towards success. Without persuasion, Jack's parents agreed, recognizing the dedication and expertise Coach Johnson carried.
The first few weeks were rigorous for both Johnson and Jack. They followed the same fitness routines, pushing their limits to improve strength and endurance. Coach Johnson was with Jack every step of the way, providing guidance and motivation. But lost track on his own fitness and food intake.
However, as time went by, Coach Johnson found himself overwhelmed with coaching responsibilities. Balancing his professional duties with personal goals became increasingly challenging. Recognizing the importance of Jack's development, Coach Johnson refused to back down and kept pushing Jack by leading by example.
Determined to help Jack reach his full potential, Coach Johnson immersed himself in research, seeking alternative methods to support Jack's weight gain. He discovered that nutrition played a vital role in building muscle. Thus, he decided to take matters into his own hands and adopt a new approach.
Coach Johnson started cooking larger and more nutritious meals both for himself and Jack. He dove headfirst into understanding meal plans, caloric intake, and macutronrient ratios. With every meal, he aimed to provide Jack with the right nutrients to support his growth and with Jack’s also his own…
The consequences of Coach Johnson's new focus on food started to manifest in his own body. As a 40-year-old, his metabolism had slowed, making it more difficult to shed extra pounds. With his attention primarily on Jack's progress, Coach Johnson gains were very noticeable, especially as he was used to parade his chiseled upperbody shirtless on the trainingfield. The gains were so fast that he was still blind for it himself. Eventhough he started to be out of breath fast which he blamed on the heath.
Over time, Jack football's career flourished, thanks to Coach Johnson's dedication and their shared efforts. From being a scrawny athlete struggling to gain weight, Jack transformed into a professional player determined to leave his mark on the sport.
But as Jack celebrated his accomplishments Coach, Johnson faced a different reality. He had gained 50 pounds during their journey, inadvertently sacrificing his own fitness and health for the sake of Jack's growth.
Jack, now aware of the toll it had taken on his mentor, expressed his gratitude and shared his intentions of taking care of Coach Johnson. Inspired by his own transformation, Jack took it upon himself to help Coach Johnson regain his health.
Together, they developed a new fitness routine for Coach Johnson, focusing on weight loss and overall well-being. Jack's understanding of fitness and nutrition, honed through his own journey, gave him the tools to support Coach Johnson's reclamation of himself.
Months passed, and with Jack's guidance and unwavering support, Coach Johnson gradually shed the weight excess he had gained. As he found himself reclaiming his physical and mental strength, Coach Johnson realized how intertwined their journeys had been. But no matter how hard he tried, he never lost the last few pounds…

Understanding Body Types: Ectomorph, Mesomorph, and Endomorph
When it comes to fitness and achieving your health goals, understanding your body type can be a game-changer. We all have different genetic predispositions that influence how our bodies respond to exercise and nutrition. The concept of body types, often categorized as ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph, can help you tailor your fitness and diet strategies for more effective results. In this article, we'll delve into each of these body types, helping you better understand your own and how to optimize your fitness journey accordingly.
Ectomorph: The Lean Machine
Ectomorphs are typically characterized by a lean and slender physique. They often have a high metabolism, which means they burn calories quickly. Key features of ectomorphs include:
Narrow shoulders and hips: Ectomorphs tend to have a more linear body shape.
Fast metabolism: They may find it challenging to gain weight or muscle.
Lean muscle mass: Ectomorphs often have difficulty building muscle mass.
Fitness and Nutrition Tips for Ectomorphs:
Focus on strength training: Ectomorphs should prioritize resistance training to build lean muscle mass.
Increase calorie intake: To gain weight and muscle, ectomorphs should consume a surplus of calories, emphasizing quality nutrition.
Frequent, smaller meals: Eating smaller, more frequent meals can help maintain energy levels and support muscle growth.
Mesomorph: The Athletic Build
Mesomorphs are known for their athletic and well-proportioned bodies. They typically have an easier time both gaining muscle and losing fat. Key features of mesomorphs include:
Naturally muscular: Mesomorphs have an easier time building and maintaining muscle.
Broad shoulders and a narrow waist: They often have an hourglass or V-shaped body.
Efficient metabolism: Their bodies tend to respond well to both muscle gain and fat loss efforts.
Fitness and Nutrition Tips for Mesomorphs:
Variety in workouts: Mesomorphs can excel in a range of fitness activities, so they should incorporate both cardio and resistance training for overall health.
Balanced diet: Focus on a balanced diet with lean protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats to support muscle growth and recovery.
Stay active: Regular exercise is crucial to maintaining their physique.
Endomorph: The Natural Curves
Endomorphs typically have a rounder and softer body shape. They have a slower metabolism and are more prone to weight gain. Key features of endomorphs include:
Rounder physique: Endomorphs often carry weight in the form of curves.
Slower metabolism: They may find it challenging to lose weight or body fat.
Greater potential for muscle mass: Endomorphs can build muscle but should be mindful of body fat levels.
Fitness and Nutrition Tips for Endomorphs:
Embrace cardiovascular exercise: Endomorphs can benefit from regular cardio to manage weight and maintain cardiovascular health.
Portion control: Pay attention to portion sizes and calorie intake to avoid excess weight gain.
Strength training: Incorporate strength training to build muscle and boost metabolism.
Conclusion:
Understanding your body type is a valuable step toward reaching your fitness and health goals. While these categories can provide guidance, it's important to remember that everyone is unique, and a one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work in fitness and nutrition. Tailoring your strategy based on your body type is just one piece of the puzzle. Consult with fitness professionals and nutritionists to create a personalized plan that aligns with your goals and works best for you. Remember that consistent effort, a healthy lifestyle, and patience are key components of any successful fitness journey, regardless of your body type.

Snippet from an unnamed and barely begun Zakkura WIP
I don't really know how I feel about this one yet, but there might be something there, idk idk. In short, it's a University AU, and I have some rough plans of where things might go, but I'm not fully sold on it yet. Kinda thinking that Zack feels like the type to be a elite athlete student studying some athletic science aswell, and I have some outlines for others aswell. Aerith as a history student mayhaps? Currently leaning towards that, but I've concidered vet-med aswell. Choices, choices, choices! And yes, this is just the kickoff to the whole thing, so there's little to no interractions between anyone else but Zack and Aerith rn, but hey, it made sense to me. Gotta get the vibe right from the get-go, y'know? See where things end up, since this particular idea just sorta popped into my head late one night. Hope the characterzation isn't absolutely off atleast! Currently hoping the text from word translates well into a tumblr post, because I'm dreading having to reformat it if it won't.
...
There are few living things in this world that Aerith would consider useless. Most living things have a purpose, after all, and it’d feel far too judgemental for her to disregard parts of this world just because she couldn’t “get them”, or simply because the creature was a bit hard to understand.
However, Aerith wryly noted, there are two living things she’d consider useless.
Firstly, ticks. Disgusting little bugs, they are, and she couldn’t fathom how the world would be worse off without them. They hold no purpose beyond spreading sickness, biting and infesting every animal it gets in contact with, and she couldn’t even justify their existence by claiming they served an important purpose as prey to another animal or beast, since there were truly no animals who’d ever choose to consume the wretched things.
Maybe, just maybe, the flames of her hatred for these little bugs would be eternally fanned by the fact that she’d gotten bitten by one as a child, its vile pinchers clinging to her skin just above her shoulder blades, and her moms had decided that the best way to remove it was to slather butter onto her skin!
To be fair, it did work, but the wet squelch as Elmyra had managed to grip the buttered bug once it lost it’s grip on Aerith’s skin was something Aerith would never be able to forget. Nevertheless, they were useless, lacked all sorts of nutritional value of prey, and only served to spread sickness. In Aerith’s mind, the very definition of useless.
The second living thing Aerith would consider useless was Zack Fair, resident idiot.
Now, to be fair, Zack isn’t some disgusting little bug, and the world would probably be worse off without the guy, and he didn’t go around spreading diseases, at least according to his latest STD test results, the sheet of paper still hanging on the fridge, moogle-magnet holding it in place for the world to see, at the great expense of damaging Aerith’s cutesy kitchen vibe. And he certainly does possess some nutritional value, if he were to fall prey to some hungry creature, the gym rat. However, something he clearly doesn’t possess is a working brain, and Aerith found herself wondering how much more of her roommate’s whining she could listen to before she’d consider his value as a nutritional meal for a predator far greater than his value as her friend.
At this rate? She’d give herself a month, tops, before she begins looking into if there are any starving vampires nearby. However, that could mean he becomes a vampire, immortalizing Zack and his whining, and that’d be even worse, because knowing the idiot, he’d bite Aerith too, dooming her to an eternity as the victim of his complaints just so he wouldn’t be lonely. Yeah no, far too risky.
Maybe stick to some good ol’ fashioned action movie stuff, and throw him into shark infested waters? But then again, that would be feeding into unfortunate shark stereotypes, and at most he’d be a bit nibbled by some sharks, and then Zack's complaining would just be sort of justified. But if the sharks, against all odds, ate Zack, then the poor sharks would just be further demonized, and then their ever-diminishing population would grow even smaller, and then insufferable rich people would start eating even more shark fin soup just because it was so rare, until it was Aerith’s fault they were extinct. Ugh.
With that sad notion, Aerith decided to tune back into Zack’s whining, to see if he were anywhere near done-
“Oh, I’ll never recover from this, might as well just fake my death and flee the country, you’ll get my stuff, don’t worry, I’ll add you to the will- oh, I’ll have to write a will first, to be fair- haha, to be Fair, get it? But then- oh, no, that might be suspicious, they always accuse the person who like, gets rich off of their friends dying of being the person murdering them, and you’d be in trouble, huh, that’d be bad, I guess-”
Yeah, no. Nowhere near it.
The cause of Aerith’s dreadful Thursday morning was currently sprawled across two of her slightly crooked wooden kitchen chairs, having pushed them together into the saddest semblance of a “therapy bench, y’know? Hear me out, I’ll need it!”as Zack had described it, and she was certain he would manage to snap yet another leg (again) before he’s finished his pityparty. Hell, Aerith had begun throwing one for herself and her poor imaginary sharks too, but at least she wasn’t breaking any of his kitchen chairs left and right. Not that he had any, but y’know, it’s the principle, so hypothetical kitchen chairs, then! She watched Zack lean just slightly too much to the side, and cringed at the tortured creak one of her poor, pink chairs made.
“Be careful you don’t break ‘em, Zack.”
He stopped mid-rant (oh, finally), and blinked up at the girl by the stove, watching her flip a pancake with practiced ease.
“Break what? The laws of will-writing, or whatever? You know them?”
A slightly too long pause. Oh, blessed silence.
Creak.
“No, my chairs, Zack. Tifa just fixed them last week, c’mon-”
“’s fine, she’s a great carpenter.”
“She is, but they’re wood, Zack.”
“Yes, yes, but what about me? I’ll have to drop out, and you’re worried about our chairs?”
“No, you won’t. And yes, I’m worried about my chairs.”
“We live together, so they’re like, at least forty percent my chairs too, and besides, I’m not even leaning that much this ti- woah!”
Aerith jabbed her spatula at Zack, who was currently sitting in a splintered pile of wood, feeling not quite unlike how she felt when she had to stop some overly excited puppy from chewing on furniture in her mother’s flower shop a couple of weeks ago.
“I told you, dumbass!”
…
Zack did look a bit embarrassed as he set about sweeping up the splinters from the snapped leg, and then shoved the three-legged chair into the small storage space in the hallway, clambering over the piles of fabric and workout equipment to place it down in the back. (Tifa had asked Aerith if they had space for her to store her spare, but insanely luxurious, fabric she had managed to snag at some estate sale, and to be honest, they kinda didn’t, but Aerith never says no, not if Tifa’s the one asking, at least. She certainly said no when Zack had suggested that they should try out bouldering, after he’d seen a really cool video on instagram. Zack privately believes that’s why Tifa asked her in the first place, she’s smart like that.)
And despite how annoyed she could get, Aerith is a grown woman and is fully capable of realizing that maybe, just maybe, she had been a little bit too angry, and hummed an apology at Zack right as he placed down a beautifully made caramel iced latte by her pancake plate, as well as his own sickly sweet matcha latte.
He’d managed to convince his boss at the café, Barret, to let him take home some of the caramel syrup to be able to make lattes for Aerith a couple of months into his employment, but it hadn’t been the easiest of negotiations, getting to that point.
“Ain’t no way in hell kid, before long you’ll just be askin’ to take home the entire stock.” Barret had called from the back as he had been packing away the flour into the back, the weekly delivery having been delayed, leaving the two of them scrambling to pack it all away so they could close and go home. “Yer girlfriend can buy her own damned lattes.”
“Aerith’s my roomie, and I swear, I won’t, I’ll buy one of the syrups if you let me? She’s just so tired from cramming, and her exams are right around the corner, I just wanna help.”
“Sure, keep telling yourself that, kid. But no.” Barret gave Zack a stern look, watching the younger play dairy-and-also-dairy-free-alternatives-Tetris with all the milks, trying to restock the fridge with barely any space to spare.
“I’ll babysit Marlene, if you want?”
Zack was fully focused on trying to keep the almond milks from slipping off the shelf as he shoved in the last three oat milk next to them, and didn’t notice Barret’s look.
“You? Babysit?” Barret laughed, “you’re still a kid yourself.”
“Barret, I help run several classes for children, kids love me!” He grinned at the baker, who had moved to stand next to Zack, restocking the fruits, currently packing away crazy amounts of lemons. Barret had been tinkering away at some lemon tiramisu recipe last week, and it seems like the delicious tinkering would continue, and Zack would be more than happy to help sampling.“I’ll even take her skating, if you want me to? Or I’ll ask Aerith if she wants to join, and we can play some boardgames or something, and you can have a date night with your wife?”
A beat of silence, and then Barret let out a thoughtful hum as he lifted an impressively loaded box of bananas and shoved it in the fridge, and then he looked at Zack, smile splitting his face in two as he clapped a hand onto Zack’s shoulder.
“You’ve got yourself a deal, kid.”
Now, a couple of years into Zack’s employment there, Zack would sometimes end a shift, and find his bag heavier than when he started, only to find that Barret had packed away some baked goods in paper boxes tied off with their signature red ribbons, a box of matcha or yet another bottle of coffee syrup with a flavour Zack hadn’t even known possible. Barret could be quite intimidating, but he was really just a big softie at heart.
But hey, all the syrup and matcha meant that Zack could whip up some real sweet coffee drinks for Aerith (and matchas for himself) whenever he wished, and that came in handy, since Aerith, while she’s an absolute sweetheart, sometimes got so (understandably) annoyed with Zack and his antics that she bordered on tears. She’s usually too sweet to say anything, but Zack had made a habit of dropping off a coffee for her in the library if he was available. Privately, Zack thought she was far easier to apologize to, if the apology included a tasty drink, and he didn’t mind doing it, if it was for her.
Zack bit down on his pancake and sank back into the couch with a delighted sigh as Aerith started up Selling Midgar Sunsets, a delightfully shitty reality show following a realtor firm trying to sell obnoxiously luxurious homes to the wealthiest of Midgar. “Raspberry pancakes? Aerith, I could kiss you.”
She sipped her latté and grinned at him, “right back at you, there´s nougat syrup in here too, right?”
“Yep! Need to get rid of it, the date’s up soon, and I can only drink so much hot chocolate. Cheers?”
“’Cheers! S’really good, Zack, it’s almost like you’d work with the stuff!” Aerith teased as they clinked their glasses together, and Zack huffed in feigned offense.
“Almost? That’s so mean- oh my fucking god, is that a gold bathroom?”
Aerith quickly refocused on the screen, and indeed, it was.
“That’s so tacky, why- ohmygod. The whole house is gold, who owned the house? King Midas himself?”
“I’d sell it too, looks awful- oh, eww, that makes sense.”
Don Corneo, a man who once upon a time had been a successful talk show host, these days far more known for his less than savoury behaviours, both offline and online, that ultimately had been the very reason he’d have to leave the talk show behind, had stepped into the picture, and the show’s subtitles labeled him as “Don Corneo – Entrepreneur – Seller of Property”.
“He’s so… sleazy!”
“Yeah, eww.”
They watched with morbid curiosity as the realtor, Leslie, was walked through the property, and the two of them began cackling with laughter as Leslie stepped into bedroom, and was met with a massive golden statue of Don Corneo himself occupying the corner, the entire roof above the bed only mirrors. Despite the editor's best efforts to cut it out, the realtor's stunned silence was far too long for the cut to be unnoticeable.
Leslie the Realtor looked mortified as Don Corneo, unprompted, mind you, began talking about the use of the mirrors, and Zack and Aerith were in tears by the time the poor realtor finally managed to get into the garden. Zack’s lungs felt as though they were going to leap out of his chest as he laughed, watching the poor realtor try to distract from the hedge sculpture right outside the backdoor, shaped like a … very anatomically accurate genital.
“Naturally, I’ve made sure to have the matching hedge over by the pond, but neatly trimmed of course, since one wants them wet-“ “OKAY! Alright! That was the garden! Let’s move on!”
“Poor plants.”
“Yeah, no kidding.”
...
And that's all for now, folks. If you read this, thanks? Or sorry? English isn't my first language and it's all written in the middle of the night lol, so it is what it is!

CPom interview- The Spero Show podcast 9/15/23 pt 1
Their trainer, Spero Mantzavrakos, of Spero Performance says "Scotty" Moir called him up saying they were looking for a change to work on CPom's strength
Anthony says they're on the ice 3-4 hours a day plus an hour of off ice a day- twice a week at Spero, twice a week ballet. they were doing more dance, but not right now. Anthony was doing bouldering in the summer, but as the season's starting, the coaches told him to stop. but he says he started bouldering this year and that it's changed his life. Christina does Pilates on Saturdays or one night during the week. works her core and elongates her muscles, works similarly to ballet. works on stabilizer muscles.
when they first moved to Canada, they sometimes would work out first and then go train- Anthony says he was less sore at the end of the day but that training was harder. Christina: that was only when they were first learning programs and training was less intense. (the other host says hockey players are only on ice for an hour and a half, so it's not like CPom's 3-4 hour on ice). also easier to spend your all at the end of the day, because doing a workout first, you hold back because you know you have on ice to go to
Spero: could Scott still come back and compete and do well, CPom said yes - that it's muscle memory. Host asks if Tessa has ever come, Christina says she only came once. She was supposed to come some time in August but then didn't. He asks if they ever met Morgan, they said no.
host talks a lot lol says Anthony is a San Jose Sharks fan, wants to get CPom to come do edge work with the hockey players they train but that CPom are always on the go and haven't had time
nutrition for recovery- Carrie the US Olympic nutritionist for winter sports - she met with Spero - detailed, keeps it simple for athletes. saw some of CPom's meal plans - Anthony says M-F he follows the nutritionist's meal plans to a T and Saturdays he likes chicken wings and Sunday is the day to come back, that if he's veered off, breakfast is back to the plan, maybe a different lunch, but dinner is always getting ready for Monday. even his cheat days are different than a few years ago - might look like chicken wings and a soda for one meal, but not the entire day
Christina- stays on it pretty well, but if she wants something not on the plan, she'll let herself have it, because she has a tendency to obsess and be really strict with her food "so i've been told"

Hi do you have any recommendations for meal plans or websites with high protein income recipes? My friend who is an absolute gym nut wants to try out going vegan for 3 months but he is worried because of the lack of protein. I gave him some advice on what I usually cook, but I'm not really as sporty as he and don't really watch if what I eat is 100% healthy and balanced. Most of my vegan recipes are not suitable because they are "too high-carb" .
Do you have some resources?
Protein is seldom a problem for anyone who is getting enough calories, and that’s easy to do for vegans. I’d recommend he checks out The Game Changers on Netflix which is all about plant-based diets from an athletic perspective, and will challenge that often repeated notion of ‘high carb = bad.”
The conventional wisdom is that men need about 56 grams of protein per day, some recent studies say less and some say more. For context, a cup of oatmeal is 12 grams, lentils 18, cup of chickpeas 14.5. Some of the highest protein options include:
All beans
Lentils
Chickpeas
Oats
Quinoa/couscous
Tofu/Tempeh
Faux meats
Seitan
Spelt
Seeds and seeded bread
Nuts and nut butters
Brown and wild rice
Green peas and sweetcorn
Greens (particularly dark leafy greens like spinach, kale, broccoli etc.)
There are plenty of vegan shakes available too, as well as meal replacement/post work out options like Huel that is very popular. Again just for context, a Huel shake with a tablespoon of peanut butter blended in is 24 grams by itself, that’s without using plant milk instead of water.
As he will see in that documentary, there are athletes at the top of their fields, training at the highest level of intensity who eat a plant-based diet, and thrive on it, including one of the world’s strongest men. It is definitely sufficient for someone who just loves the gym. He’ll have to watch his nutrition levels but that will probably also be the case now for a regular gym-goer, it’ll just take a couple of weeks to adapt.

I keep seeing people send you jamie head canons and I want to send you one but idk if you'll think it's weird, but Jamie having food issues? Like eating disorders are about body image but also about control/addictive personality traits/coping/avoiding other problems by obsessing about this one thing and it's sometimes so addicting and then you realise you can't stop and it's like scary as fuck?
But he's got addictive tendencies (he trains so much + addiction issues are genetic and his dads an alcoholic) and I can see it just building into this thing where he's got a really dysfunctional relationship with food
I always welcome headcanons in my inbox! I love hearing about our collective overthinking where Jamie Tartt is concerned.
That said, I have seen takes similar to this pop up around the fandom and it isn't one I particularly ascribe to. (No shade! You do you!) But I can totally see where it comes from.
For any athlete, food has the potential to be a complex subject, as well as broader issues around control, health and bodily autonomy. Particularly if, like Jamie, they've been beholden to nutritional standards since puberty.
I think Jamie maybe had a few hang-ups around food security when he was younger, coming from a low-income background. A growing boy with a single mother and frequent after-school sports clubs probably had to learn to cook basic cupboard/freezer meals at an early age so he could fend for himself. Think being able to heat up canned soup or put fish fingers in the oven when his mum was working long hours.
After he was scouted, he was getting fed better by his school (St Bede's strikes me as a 'balanced, healthy lunch' kind of place, even pre-Jamie Oliver) and by whatever provisions were in place at the Academy.
This in tricky in my headcanoned timeline because I suspect James was the one making sure Jamie got to his training sessions after school and on weekends. Though definitely invested in Jamie's performance, how much he really considered his wellbeing within that is... debatable. So there may have been a good few years where Jamie was getting toast or cereal in the mornings, a big lunch at school, but then nothing until he was dropped back at his mum's at night, where he was likely hesitant to either tell her how hungry he was or to 'eat her out of house and home'.
Once he got older and moved out (either into residence at the Academy or into his own flat at 18), I suspect he was quite relieved to have a guide on what and how to eat because then he didn't have to think about it.
Pre-prepared meals and/or a list of what he could meet his calorie intake with was perfect. He could just eat what was put in front of him - and that continued on through most of his career.
It was maybe not until people like Sam and Richard were horrified by the lack of variety or adventure in his diet that he started branching out and trying new things not explicitly laid out in his diet plan. (Roy noticed but also understood it and wasn't opposed to hyper-healthy eating while he was coaching him.)
Anyway, all this to say that I don't personally think Jamie has addiction issues around food but he definitely lets football dictate his diet. He probably frequently forgets meal times during off-seasons when his schedule is less regimented and it drives everyone around him to distraction.
After retiring he puts on a bit of weight from being more indulgent and exercising less. He has a bit of a vanity-rooted freak out about it and has to ease himself into not feeling guilty about the occasional carb or sugar overload.
In the end, he starts to think of food as a luxury beyond necessity and gets to properly explore what he likes to eat, not just what he needs.
