Carter Hall, famed egyptologist, discovered the nth metal he uses to fly among Egyptian artifacts and created his Hawkman identity in homage to the hawk god Horus. Later Carter Hall learned that nth metal was left on Earth AI by Thanagarians who visited Earth before the rise of the Egyptian kingdom. Their appearance inspired belief in the Egyptian hawk god Horus upon which the Egyptians built their entire pantheon of animal headed dieties.

(Updated River's blog some more. I moved Headcanons to under the Tags link in the blog side-bar, and I've replaced it with a page called Key Info now. Just be warned, it's quite lengthy!
This page will go a little more in-depth about her suit and weapons load-out, and I also copy-pasted the headcanon I made earlier about her apothecary there too... Figured it'd be best to condense them into one page, instead of them getting lost in the Archive at some point!
The suit and weapons info might change with the release of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League... Not entirely sure how I feel about that game to be honest lol. 8'D;;; BUT NOW, ALLOW ME TO SCREAM IN THE TAGS.)
#Outof'lock#(Using Arkhamverse game logic I put her in between Batman and Catwoman-levels of armor.)#(She's not as tanky as Batman but definitely would be have more armor-reinforcement than what Selina had in the games.)#(I always get worried that I'm making her too 'strong' when I type stuff like this out.)#(But then I remember Arkhamverse Batman's suit still does more and she needs to be able to compete so I think it's gotta be okay?)#(Same thing with the Nth metal blade. I based it on a panel from the Deathstroke comic where Slade talked to Hawkman about his armor)#(And Hawkman said because it was made of 'impure' Nth metal it probably wouldn't have all the capabilities of pure Nth metal.)#(So Riv's is just hella sharp and durable. And it can generate a heat edge to cut through metal surfaces and 'cut' magic.)#(Mbbe more can be explored or discovered in threads. She honestly needed a buff to compete a lil' with Meta characters more in all honesty.#(I mean the Suicide Squad game seems like it'll open-up that possibility.)#(BUT YEAH REGARDING SUICIDE SQUAD... I DON'T HAVE A PS5 AND I DON'T REALLY LIKE LOOTER-SHOOTERS AT ALL)#(SO I'LL PROBABLY JUST WATCH AN LP AND GET INFO THAT WAY. =T)

The DC x DP Justice League problem
I've noticed a pattern when it comes to DC x DP crossovers where when the Justice League has to deal with anything involving the Danny phantom world They are out matched and outclassed in every way.
I know most people in the DC x DP fandoms haven't ever picked up a comic, or watched DC media that wasn't animated (or sometimes haven't even watched Danny phantom) in their lives but at some point it gets ridiculous how incompetent the regular JL is made when it comes to combating the supernatural.
And as an all-things DC enjoyer this hurts me.
Like Superman, multiple times in the past has gone up against ghosts, ghosts like beings, and ghostly Abilities using his powers like for example:
Superman was able to freeze Ghost Soldier, who could turn intangible, using his freeze breath.
He could Freeze Zatanna's astral form
He was able to decimate the Phantom Stranger's physical AND metaphysical form.
He used his freeze breath to freeze the essence/spirit of H'el in time.
When the Fortress Of Solitude's security program projections were turned into ghosts, he could still blast them with his heat vision.
He withstood being stabbed through his heart and soul with magic a sword.
He tanked silver banshees scream (which affects the spirit) head on.
His super vision can also look past someone's body and mind to examine their soul.
When it comes to Wonder Woman her shield, blade, braces, lasso, tiara, and entire body are all blessed with the power of the literal gods there is no way she wouldn't be able to go straight up to a ghost and punch it intangibility or not.
Her lasso can even drag a soul out of someone's body if needed.
Same goes for Captain Marvel and his lightning.
All of Hawkman and Hawkwoman's armor (the little of it they actually wear) and weapons are made out of nth metal, which is a metal in DC that affects supernatural beings like ghost, zombies, vampire, Spirits, specters, shade's, werewolves, "the Lazarus demon" and reanimated corpses, just like any other creature no matter how strong.
Batman and Green Arrow have an entire arsenal made out of the stuff too, just in case.
In injustice both Green Arrow and Green Lantern have whole suits made out of it.
And even if you don't count injustice, (which is understandable) Green lanterns can easily have their rings copy the atomic structure of any thing they need (like kryptonite for example) and since their suits are made from their rings, they would still have no problem making a suit (or really any weapon they need out of the stuff).
Batman has a pair of gloves that John Constantine gave him specifically used to fight ghosts.
And it's been stated that the Batcave has supernatural barriers and wards to stop ghosts and stuff from getting in. (so no just casual walking into the bat cave).
And when it comes to the whole "ghost king summoning" thing I get it it's a fun concept to play around with, but the JL and JL Dark have so many other options other than to summon what they usually believe to be an interdimensional eldritch being into their world.
like the phantom zone projector something that was able to work on Mister Mxyzptlk a full-blown reality warper from the 5th dimension.
Or contacting the other supernatural experts that aren't just Constantine and Zatanna (which are usually the only contact for supernatural problems the JL has in most fic's for some reason).
Or batman just contacting the strongest supernatural being he knows, who without a doubt would come stop a major supernatural threat (as its usually depicted)
SPAWN. (The guys so op in supernatural power it's crazy)
There are so many other options than summoning the ghost king.
And in a lot of fic's the supernatural members (or just any member that would could help in a given situation) are off world (for some reason?) so they can't be contacted.
That just doesn't make much sense when the JL has the technology of so many advanced civilizations and individual people (witch some are said to be among the smartest in the universe) at their disposal, they should be able to contact their people halfway across the universe.
All of this is to say that due to widespread ignorance of the world of Detective Comics and the capabilities of its hero's (and sometimes Danny Phantom) that most DC x DP situations, stories, and scenarios end up with the Justice League a collection of the earths greatest hero's, being completely and utterly helpless and incompetent against any problems coming from the world of Danny Phantom (or just the supernatural in general).
This is to no one's fault of course, believe me no one knows all of DC lore and all it's details in its entirety.
But being someone that knows a lot about DC and seeing how useless a lot of DC characters are portrayed in most situations when you know they really wouldn't be having that much of an issue handling it, creates a weird disconnect between the two fandoms where it always seems more like the Danny Phantom fandom with DC characters stapled to it.
#dc x dp#dpxdc#dcxdp#dp x dc#dc comics#danny phantom#superman#batman#green lantern#wonder woman#shazam#green arrow#the justice league#justice league#dc comcis#dc characters#I know it's fun but the Justice League should not be this incompetent all the time guys

A Gentlemanly DPxDC Prompt
So after watching Caped Crusader and enjoying much of it, especially The Gentleman Ghost, I have also watched some Brave and the Bold, and he features prominently. After searching for interactions between him and Danny Phantom, I found none. 😲
youtube
Prompt time:
Someone in the mortal realm has used dark artifacts to summon the spirits of thousands of undead criminals to do their bidding and commit crimes.
Danny finds out something fishy is going on, when half a dozen ghostly criminals (Old West gunslingers maybe) rob Amity Park National Bank. As he returns them to the Ghost Zone, he's approached by Walker (this can work with regular Danny or Ghost King Danny) who begrudgingly seeks his help because dozens of the actual criminals he had imprisoned have escaped into the mortal realm beyond his reach.
Danny tracks the criminals to Gotham or London where he encounters James Craddock and Batman and company trying to stop him, maybe early in Batman's career before he got access to nth metal through Hawkman, maybe he teaches Jason how to be ghostly.
I don't think the fight would be too much of a challenge for Danny, but Craddock can do the regular ghostly things: teleport, portal, overshadow, shoot ecto-beams and ecto-bullets. Plus he's got an army of undead criminals.
Maybe Craddock ends up with Walker for 'breaking the rules'

Heroes & Villains The DC Animated Universe - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
The Gentleman Ghost
James Craddock was allegedly a highwayman and bandit who terrorized the English countryside in the early 19th century. A spell cast by Romani mystic caused Craddock to become a spectral being cursed to walk the earth for all time.
In the modern era, Craddock relocated to the States where he operated as the super villain known as the Gentleman Ghost. Herein he used his ability to become incorporeal to pull off heists. He was briefly a member of the Legion of Doom and was later captured by Hawkman who utilized a net composed of Nth metal that nullified the Ghost’s ability to become intangible.
Actor Robin Atkin Downes provided the voice for the Gentleman Ghost, with the villain initially appearing int he first episode of the third season of Justice League Unlimited, ‘I Am Legion.’

Sorry to bother you, but what the fuck is going on with the hawks?
My grandpa from ST Roch used to tell me about them and how they were egyptian hawk people thing.
But then they appear and they are aliens???
Does this mean that the egyptian gods are aliens?
I'm genuinely confused and every time i search for more info i get more confusing stuff that say angels, the dark multiverse and some hawkgod are all involved?
But also Hawkgirl and Hawkwoman are different people????
I'm so very lost so i decided to ask the profesional.
I'm gonna get variations on this question a lot aren't I? Ok, let's rock.
The confusion comes from there being two sets of Hawks who are very similar in their general costume design and aura. They're probably the hardest to tell apart at a glance if you don't know what you're looking for.
(Fanart of the Golden Age Hawkman by TytortheBarbarian on Deviantart. Note the full face mask, lack of chest emblem and that his wings are attached to the straps of his harness)
(Photograph of the Modern Hawkman. Note the exposed lower half of the face, the black chest emblem and that his wings grow naturally from his upper back)
The original Hawkman and Hawkgirl of the Golden Age were archeologist Carter Hall and his partner Shiera Hall (Nee Sanders) who discovered upon the unearthing of a long forgotten tomb in the Valley of the Kings that they were the reincarnations of Pharaoh Khufu and his consort Chay-ara of the Egyptian Old Kingdom.
Finding relics formed of a strange alien metal within the tomb, the duo used these artifacts and the inspiration of the Egyptian god Horus to become Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Carter was a founding member of the Justice Society and both Hawks served with distinction in the wartime All Star Squadron.
Carter was present at the infamous HUAC trial that disbanded the JSA and the duo vanished for decades.
It was in those following decades that two more heroes would appear and step into the Hawks' boots.
Lawmen lost and many light years from their native Thanagar the two would take up the mantles of the Hawks, raptorial imagery considered sacred symbols of honor and duty on their native world. It just so happened that their alien technology and the motifs of the Golden Age Hawks were near identical which, after the two pairs met helped to uncover the shocking secret in their shared past.
The artifacts that had empowered the original Hawks, assumed to be magical were in fact also technology scavenged from a crashed Thanagarian ship by the ancient Egyptians. (No they didn't use it to built the pyramids. The already working technology and reforging the craft's Nth metal hull were the extend of the technology's use which allowed for the vast expansion and prosperity under Khufu's reign)
The second Hawkgirl changed her name, eventually stating she "did not like the implications of the word "girl" on this planet" and has ever since gone by Hawkwoman.
The original Hawkgirl lost her life during the Zero Hour crisis and has since been embodied in the new Hawkgirl, assumed to be a resident of St. Roch, Louisiana because it is around her appearance that the Hawks began to split their time between St. Roch and their traditional roost in Midway City.
So, in total, as of this moment. There are two Hawkmen, golden and modern ages. Hawkgirl is the younger partner of the original Hawkman and Hawkwoman is the partner of the second. The second pair of Hawks also have a sidekick named Golden Eagle. There is also a new Thanagarian on the scene calling himself Changeling who seems to be related to the second pair of Hawks somehow but no one yet knows exactly how.
As far as superhero families go they are nowhere near as expansive as the Flash or Batman's general cadre but they just look so similar that its very easy to be confused. To the point that they are all consistently misrepresented as one another whenever they show up in the media and it drives me UP A WALL.

HAWKMAN
Hawkman is the name of several superheroes appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Dennis Neville, the original Hawkman first appeared in Flash Comics #1, published by All-American Publications in 1940.
Several incarnations of Hawkman have appeared in DC Comics, all of them characterized by the use of archaic weaponry and by large, artificial wings, attached to a harness made from the special Nth metal that allows flight. Most incarnations of Hawkman work closely with a partner/romantic interest named Hawkgirl or Hawkwoman.
Hawkman is most often depicted as human archaeologist Carter Hall—the modern-day reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince named Khufu—or as Thanagarian police officer Katar Hol from the planet Thanagar.

December 1990. As Tim Truman conceived it, the HAWKWORLD miniseries was not intended to obsolete previous Hawkman stories, but when DC decided to continue the story as an ongoing series, senior management insisted that it pick up in the present, effectively rebooting the modern Hawkman rather than just updating his origin. This Annual sought to paper over some of the resulting continuity problems while also addressing the similarities between the Golden Age and Silver Age Hawkman, something pre-Crisis stories had just shrugged off. Ostrander's solution was to establish that Katar Hol's father, Paran Katar, had been a Thanagarian scout on Earth decades earlier (under the name Perry Carter), had surreptitiously helped Carter Hall to develop his gravity-defying Nth Metal, and later took the concept of Hawkman and even Carter Hall's emblem back to Thanagar as inspiration for the Wingmen. Ostrander further explains that the Golden Age Hawkman had been a member of both the Justice Society and the Justice League:
(The "1953" reference in the second panel is an error; the events to which it refers (first recounted in "The Man Who Defeated the Justice Society!" in ADVENTURE COMICS #466) took place in 1951.)
In the text pages, editor Mike Gold explains candidly why all this was deemed necessary and the various options the creative team had for addressing it. This wasn't an ideal solution, and several points still remained unexplained (like the presence of Hawkman and Hawkwoman in JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL, which Ostrander tackled later). Beyond that, building a story around the need to rationalize a continuity issue is seldom very edifying, and the contrivances involved (including briefly sending Katar and Shayera back in time, where Katar meets his own father as a younger man) clash uneasily with the tone of the HAWKWORLD series. By far the best part of this Annual is the scene where Wally West meets Shayera Thal and so aggravates her that she immediately starts punching him in the face — not just once, but three times, until Katar reins her in — which has nothing to do with the continuity stuff.
From a story standpoint, I think retroactively removing Katar Hol from the original JLA is regrettable mainly insofar as his HAWKWORLD origin would have given new dimension to his clashes with Oliver Queen. Unlike the previous version of Katar, a knee-jerk reactionary who was ultimately fine with fascist dictatorship as long as it didn't personally inconvenience him, the Katar of HAWKWORLD is by Thanagarian standards a dangerous leftist, full of seditious ideas about social equity and civil rights. However, the most radical leftist on Thanagar is still somewhere to the right of Barry Goldwater, so Oliver would undoubtedly still be appalled by Katar's politics in ways Katar would find perplexing. That would have been a more fun dynamic than trying to shoehorn Carter Hall into the role of Oliver's neocon antagonist.
However, none of that was really on the table in 1989–1990. DC's later obsession with maintaining the sanctity of the pre-Crisis JLA hadn't yet materialized; at this point, the Giffen/DeMatteis Justice League books were riding high, DC regarded the old JLA as a relic that had outlived its commercial usefulness, and the JSA had been discarded (ostensibly permanently) after the Crisis. So, the only thing this Hawkman retcon really needed to achieve was to rationalize why flashback scenes might occasionally picture Hawkman with the original JLA, and this explanation did accomplish that much.

Dope answers buddy :)
1: Would Chris/Thara plus Jake/ Meredith get their own house or move into the Kent farm & Grayson place?
2: How much does Meredith know; does she only know about Jake or everything about the bat family? (Other heroes too)
3: How did Jake & maybe mar'i, first meet the super-twins?
4: What story would you write for the Grayson-Anders family?
5: What story would you write for the Super-Family?
Thanks man here’s some more @pin-crusher2000 ;-)
1) Chris/Thara: they would in a beachside home on the coast in the state Metropolis is within. Thara really appreciates the sunrise of the coast line while in turn Chris really likes how the moon looks at night when it reflects in the ocean water.
Jake/Meredith: Also Their own home; semi canonically at the very end of New Order, Jake and his family were living some suburbs of either Gotham or Bludhaven so it’s not hard to believe that Jake and Meredith might do the same in this timeline
2) Upon learning Jake is Skybird, she very quickly and correctly deduces that his family are Starfire, Nightwing and Nightstar respectively while his Uncle Tim is Robin but for the first two years, that’s where he knowledge would stop, until she builds enough trust and good word of mouth from Jake to the others to start learning over time. For instance it was until she was 13 she finally learned that his adoptive Grandpa Bruce was indeed the Batman and not that Bruce Wayne was living in Batman’s attic.
3) Chris introduced the Twins to both Mar’i and Jake almost about two weeks after Mon El and then arrived back on Earth after that big huge battles at Warworld. Almost immediately they actually all got along with the Twins especially so curious and full of questions about the Graysons and their Tamaranean heritage and customs.
4) Hmm….
For the whole family, I envision a long (about in the real world a half a year to one year long, biweekly scheduling in place) story arc having them travel throughout the stars putting on a space based circus tour, a sort of new intergalactic branch of Haly’s, running into many new friends and foes with the backdrop of sharing both Earthen and Tamaranean culture. Along the way, the family can have many encounters with not just the standard Blackfire and Wildfire but also maybe other space bound characters and teams in the DCU including but not limited to Adam Strange, Lobo, L.E.G.I.O.N, Planet Thanagar aka the planet Hawkman’s Nth Metal originated from, and maybe even a resident Green Lantern or two that pass by them (Ideally, Jessica Cruz and/or Tai Pham). The arc culiminates with The Graysons and their allies banding together and fending off a grand scale attack on Planet Tamaran itself and once successful, the epilogue sees that branch of the Circus give one last Grand Performance for the tour with the Flying Graysons as the headline act.
5) One day, Clark’s powers are starting to go haywire and out of control. The solar energy in his systems are overloading and threatening to cause him to explode. What’s worse though is that this explosion would be equivalent to a supernova which in way, through no fault of his own, Clark has the entire solar system and even the galaxy held hostage. Meanwhile, the anti alien Blue Earth Movement has gained unfortunate legitimacy with its representative being elected as President with vows to supposedly protect the Human race from any alien threat and place them as the superior species, no doubt having an ally in Lex Luthor. It’s a matter of the family trying to find ways to prevent Clark’s impending demise and save their world from not just that supernova but from in a way itself, especially as Blue Earth aligned super villains and even alien cosmic threats converge on our heroes, making their tasking all the harder. It’ll put their bonds and connections with each other to the test, not necessarily on how well they get along though that can certainly be all over but moreso on if it’ll be enough to overpower these great threats in their horizon. Minor Spoilers, Clark indeed survives his power overload and the Earth is safe there though the consequences would still linger afterwards

live action hawkman and hawkgirl wings Ranked:
smallville: 3/10. i'm not going to dunk on the budget of smallville, a superhero show in the mid 2000s, but that's not what wings look like. i appreciate that there's some real props involved (take a look at those real feathers!) but the structure of them is all wrong. why are all the feathers the same length.
the flash/legends of tomorrow: 5/10. that's just not how feathers look. they're also connected from very thin points of contact, which is always a pet peeve with me. however i like how large they are, i like how they unfold from their backs, and i do like how they move as proper extensions of them in fight scenes.
stargirl: ?/10. this is the only look we get at them so i don't really know. i like the way they fold i guess. kind of all i can say about it. also shoutout to blurry jay in the corner because they didn't know if they could get jws to play him yet.
black adam's hawkman: 15/10. i promise i am not just saying this because it's aldis hodge. the wings are huge which automatically scores points from me, the way they move as he flies is absolutely stunning, and the combination of naturalistic colors with the engraved metal look perfectly suits nth metal! whatever my opinions on the rest of the film, i love these wings.
legends of the superheroes: 10/10 look at these fucking things. but seriously i can't be mad at stuff like this even if i really don't like how they look on a level of Being Wings and especially dislike how floppy the tips of the wings are.
#wings :)#long post#uhh.#hawkman#hawkgirl#read those like pat says them in stargirl episode two btw. Hawk Man. Hawk Girl.
