The White House announced that a landmark 23 million Americans, 1 in 6 households, have been connected to affordable high speed internet with the help of the Affordable Connectivity Program, saving Americans between $30 and $75 every month on their internet bill. 4 Million ACP users are seniors, 1/4th of households on the program are African American and 1/4th are Latino, and it supports 320,000 households on Tribal lands. Sadly the program will be forced to end if Republicans in Congress continue to block new funding

The White House announced $5 billion for a National Semiconductor Technology Center, focusing on research and development as well as workforce needs. This is part of an effort under the CHIPS and Science Act to make America a world leader in science and grow jobs for the 21st century. This will include hundreds of millions of dollars of investment in workforce development

The EPA announced finalized rules that will strength air quality standard around fine particle pollution, AKA soot. The new stronger rules are projected to prevent 4,200 premature deaths and save Americans $46 billion in health costs by 2032. Soot is particularly harmful to those with lung and heart illnesses, children and those with asthma. Industrial soot is more common in low income communities

The Department of Transportation announced $1.5 Billion investment in America's bus systems. The bulk of the money will go helping local transport authorities buy low or no emission buses. There will also be investment in bus facilities.

President Biden signed a memorandum directing a strengthening of human rights safe guards around weapons transferred from US stockpiles to allied nations. The directive seeks to guarantee no arms are transferred that might be used to violate human rights.

HHS and HUD announced a join program partnering with 8 states and DC to help streamline an all of government response to homelessness. This is an off shoot of the $3.16 billion dollar investment amounted by HUD last week to end homelessness in America

The Department of Energy and FEMA released the findings of a two year study that projections Puerto Rico will be able to be 100% renewable energy by 2050. DoE also announced that by the end of the 30,000 low income Puerto Ricans will be able to apply for a solar power program, the first investments in a billion dollar DoE program for the island's renewable energy future

Department of Transportation announced $417 million dollar loan to the North Carolina Turnpike Authority to complete a major transportation overhaul in the greater Raleigh area

The EPA and Department of Energy announced a joint plan to invest federal funds to help measure and reduce methane emissions from the oil and gas production. Methane is the second largest green house gas after CO2 and is responsible for 30% of global warming in the last 200 years. This comes after the EPA pushed new rules to fine oil and gas manufacturers for excess methane emissions.

The Senate confirmed 2 more Biden nominated federal judges. This brings the total number of Biden judges to 177 For the first time in history a majority of a President's judicial nominees are not white men, Biden has nominated a majority women and people of color Biden also nominated 4 more federal judges, including two LGBT candidates. If they are confirmed it'll bring Biden's LGBT judge total to 11 tying with President Obama for the most LGBT people put on the federal bench

Trump and MAGA revealed what they are at today's rally at Madison Square Garden-a clear attempt to invoke and recreate the infamous pro-Nazi rally there in 1939.

As one would expect, the rally was full of virulent racism and fear-mongering.

Of particular note was one speaker's racist comment comparing Puerto Rico, a US territory in the Caribbean, to garbage, which is getting backlash, and some frantic backpedaling from Florida Republican senatorial candidate Rick Scott.

While Puerto Rico does not have statehood, there are a LOT of Puerto Rican voters elsewhere in the country, particularly in Florida, so this is likely to backfire on Republicans. As of 2020, 13% of all Latino voters were Puerto Rican in origin- the second largest block after Mexican Americans.

Climate litigation in the US could be entering a “game changing” new phase, experts believe, with a spate of lawsuits around the country set to advance after a recent supreme court decision, and with legal teams preparing for a trailblazing trial in a youth-led court case beginning next week.

The first constitutional climate lawsuit in the US goes to trial on Monday next week (12 June) in Helena, Montana, based on a legal challenge by 16 young plaintiffs, ranging in age from five to 22, against the state’s pro-fossil fuel policies.

A federal judge ruled last week that a federal constitutional climate lawsuit, also brought by youth, can go to trial.

More than two dozen US cities and states are suing big oil alleging the fossil fuel industry knew for decades about the dangers of burning coal, oil and gas, and actively hid that information from consumers and investors.

The supreme court cleared the way for these cases to advance with rulings in April and May that denied oil companies’ bids to move the venue of such lawsuits from state courts to federal courts.

Hoboken, New Jersey, last month added racketeering charges against oil majors to its 2020 climate lawsuit, becoming the first case to employ the approach in a state court and following a federal lawsuit filed by Puerto Rico last November.

the new forms of climate litigation are different, as they grapple not with particular projects’ emissions, but on responsibility for the climate crisis itself. Sokol, who dubbed these new suits “climate accountability litigation”, says though they will not alone lower emissions, they could help reshape climate plans.

In the US, this litigation has taken a variety of forms; perhaps the best known cases are based on constitutional rights and brought by youth.

One of those cases, Held v Montana, is based on the state’s constitutional guarantees to a clean and healthy environment, which were enshrined in the 1970s and which the plaintiffs say the state has violated by supporting fossil fuels. It will next week become the first-ever constitutional climate lawsuit to go to trial in the US.

Held v Montana followed the highly publicized 2015 Juliana v United States in which 21 young people from Oregon sued the US government for violating their constitutional rights to life, liberty and property by enacting policies that drove and exacerbated the climate crisis. The case, which like the Montana suit was filed by the non-profit law firm Our Children’s Trust, calls on federal officials to phase out fossil fuels.

Last week, a US district court ruled in favor of the youth plaintiffs, allowing that their claims can be decided at trial in open court.

Litigation based on state constitutional rights, also filed by Our Children’s Trust, is currently pending in four other states. One of those cases brought by Hawaii youth is set to go to trial, possibly as soon as this fall.

Another set of lawsuits in the US allege that the fossil fuel industry has for decades known about the dangers of burning coal, oil and gas, and actively hid that information from consumers and investors. Since 2017, seven states, 35 municipalities, the District of Columbia, and one industry trade association have sued major fossil fuel corporations and lobbying groups on these grounds.

In late April, lawyers for the city of Hoboken amended a 2020 complaint to allege that the defendants violated New Jersey’s racketeering laws by conspiring to sow doubt about climate change.

It marked the first-ever state-level lawsuit of its kind, following one last year in which 16 Puerto Rico cities brought federal racketeering charges, originally used to bring down criminal enterprises like the mafia, against big oil.

Unlike some previous cases, Hoboken’s amended lawsuit focuses not only on past misinformation, but also on contemporary greenwashing – something that could feature prominently in future cases.

A study last month examined litigation against fossil fuel majors and found that the filing of a new case or a court decision against a corporation took a slight toll on their finances. Novel developments – including a groundbreaking 2021 Netherlands court ruling ordering Shell to substantially slash its carbon emissions, and an unprecedented transnational claim filed in 2012 by a Peruvian farmer against a German energy company – yielded bigger blows.

Sankar, of Earthjustice, said he expects to see new forms of climate litigation in future years. “As the impact on states and localities increases, they are increasingly going to be looking for ways in which their state and local laws protect them,” he said.

MAGA Descendants of Illegal Immigrants Should Be Deported In Mass

I was reminded today that I am, in fact, genetically more Native American than any other race. As such, I claim authority to speak on behalf of my ancestors.

The descendants of ILLEGAL EUROPEAN IMMIGRANTS WEARING MAGA HATS have overstayed their welcome, just like their ancestors did. And it's time for them to leave our land.

As is common from the MAGA world, every accusation is actually a confession. MASS MURDERERS AND RAPISTS DID NOT ARRIVE FROM LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES IN MODERN TIMES, THEY ARRIVED AROUND 400 YEARS AGO FROM EUROPEAN COUNTRIES.

And once again, in a few weeks, the descendants of these rapists and murderers will celebrate that my ancestors, the natives of the north and south American continents, were so naïve and trusting that they feasted happily with the assholes that would rape and kill them the following day.

Then came one of the biggest assholes in American history, Andrew Jackson. Manifest Destiny is what he called the genocide of the real natives of this land. I'm surprised we don't have a federal holiday to celebrate this genocide as well.

Let us not forget the happy times of the California gold rush. What a fun time is must have been to commit genocide once again against the only group of people that have a natural birth right to this land.

The way I see it, my brothers and sisters and their children from Latin American countries share more of my Native American blood than the representatives of the ILLEGAL GOVERNMENT OF THE ILLEGAL EUROPEAN IMMIGRANTS, and have more a right to immigrate to anywhere they wish on this land.

MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND THEIR CHILDREN FROM PUERTO RICO ARE NOT TRASH. And it is not a harmless joke as the asshole JD Vance would seek to convince you. It's a harmless joke in the same way that Hitler calling the Jewish people rats was such a charming and harmless observation by a wildly misunderstood but charismatic guy, as Jordan Peterson would describe him (such a hilarious guy right Jordan?).

MAGA Republicans have overstayed their welcome in our land, and it's time for them to go. Especially the SOUTH AFRICAN ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT ELON MUSK, he definitely needs to have his naturalization rescinded and needs to be deported immediately - he can take his mom with him.
