I imagine in this situation elrond would have been partially tempted by boromir's declaration, but instead of trying to fight sauron with it (because even in the weirdest crack au i can think of elrond is still too genre-aware to try that) he tried to use it to supercharge his use of vilya and protect everyone.

basically Ringlord!Elrond turned the entirety of Eriador into a mega-gondolin situation: massive walls (courtesy of numenorean/eregion tech) around the regions bordering the north or Mordor, fortresses along the mountain range and several layers of gates along every road in or out. Everybody goes in; nobody goes out; everyone is safe.

and he ended up claiming the kingship to give him more authority in the process - he's High King of the Noldor and Sindar and King of the Edain (given that there are like three half-vanyar in middle-earth, he's more or less king of all children of iluvatar) and so he can have command over the entirety of the West.

and with the help of the Ring, this actually works! but the corruption starts to show eventually

he uses his kinship to Gondor to forcefully drag them into his neo-gondolin-empire-creation so he can ensure none of his great-nephews will ever have to face sauron. he extends the walls to encompass Mirkwood, because he's the high king of the sindar and has a duty to protect thranduil's realm, and unleashes the full might of his melian-lite powers to purge Sauron's Shadow and the spawn of Ungoliant from the now-Greenwood.

Galadriel and Glorfindel very much see where this is going and are very very worried. galadriel won't let him build walls around lothlorien (because she lives next door to a balrog and knows exactly what happened to gondolin) but celeborn thinks it's a good idea, since after all Doriath wouldn't have fallen if Melian's girdle had still been up. glorfindel tries to talk him out of it but the ring has taken hold

the Ring's power also enhances all his natural weirdness and powers - he has his wings and maia markings permanently activated now, with or without finwean anger. he can fully shapeshift, and he goes from raising waves in the bruinen to raising tsunamis in the great sea.

except the finwean anger seems to be permanently activated now, too, and anyone who harms someone he's deemed under his protection finds themselves the target of a rather ironic vengeance quest. the shapeshifting is looking weird now - his teeth are always sharp now, and his eyes have gone fully inhuman. sometimes he has claws and his wings look more like bats than eagles. and his water powers are more like osse's- he can't calm the waters now (goldberry is the first to notice something's up) and can only stir them into massive ship-sinking storms and tsunamis.

this progresses until he's basically Evil Luthien ruling over a continent-wide Mega-Gondolin, slaughtering orc-hordes before they even reach the white walls and sinking any naval fleet Sauron tries to send around the coast. Everybody is brought in; nobody leaves; everyone is safe...?

he figures out that the dwarven legend of "Durin's Bane" has to be one of the few first age balrogs thats still unaccounted for. and well, it's living right on his border, and he can't risk another fall of gondolin, right? so he leads a small force in there to clear moria, and they shove the balrog off the edge, but it takes one of his captains (except glorfindel) with it (maybe erestor?) and he uses the ring and saves erestor, (and maybe floods the balrog for good measure), and glorfindel is sure he saw elrond's eyes go yellow for a moment.

and even fully corrupted, he knows he can't take the ring directly into mordor. but he can wipe out sauron's armies outside the walls, to protect his kingdom - because turgon's mistake was thinking he was safe even when there were balrogs and dragons and orcs outside, right?

somewhere along the way, arwen realizes what's happening and goes to live with galadriel. one of the twins goes with her; the other stays out of loyalty but eventually follows.

elrond's kingdom has become a cross between doriath and gondolin now, with all the surrounding lands warped by ring-magic to hide it, and layers of stone walls and iron gates preventing anyone from leaving. because everyone is here; nobody leaves; everyone is... safe?

i know this is a weird thing to ask but are there any dialogue lines that use both of siffrin's pronoun sets? when i'm talking about someone with multiple pronoun sets i try not to use the same one too much and sometimes i feel like i'm overcompensating

Gosh, i swear there is, but I can't find anything offhand, and it's sadly not something I can just search for.

There's not a lot of scenes with Siffrin referred to in the third person to begin with, what with them being the protagonist and all.

So i got THIS from the act 5 clocktower scene, because i just have this image of isabeau specifically mixing things up pronouns wise.

And from what I can observe of this scene as a whole, it seems pronouns are switched up per sentence, pretty consistently. (don't take this for gospel, mind you.)

I've seen some different things across fanfics. Most common (I think) are either as this scene does, varying per sentence, or, if you're talking about Writing in particular, per paragraph.

Honestly, you don't really need to be all that anxious talking about people with multiple pronouns. Even on the wiki, I'll only change some around if the entire section only uses one pronoun set (specifically if it's he/him, because, well, if someone only uses he/him for siffrin, it's kinda clear they see sif as "man lite".

The most important thing when talking about others is Clarity. you can only switch up pronouns when it's clear who you're talking about. Particularly with he/they, both of these pronouns have different grammatical constructions, so if you spice it up too much, it can get kind of messy.

Personally, I would avoid switching mid-sentence. If you say something like "He took off their hat", that reads like your subject just stole someone else's hat, yknow?

And if I'm writing something about Siffrin and Loop, then I tend to use he/him for Siffrin more often, because if i switch back and forth between they and he for Sif when I'm also talking about a character who only uses they/them, it'll be unclear whether I mean Sif or Loop. Same flipside, if I talk about Sif and say, Isabeau, I'm more likely to just they/them Siffrin throughout.

If you're talking about a real person in casual conversation, I'd wager your exact ratio matters even less. You can go a whole streak using one set and then switch, or use a different one in different conversations, or what have you. People get it. If you're making an effort, it'll get through. If people also uses neopronouns, I like to use those more often just for practice, and then default back to the "standard" quartet of he/she/it/they when i forget the neo grammar construction and dont have time to google it, lol.

Women can too? I spent like 16-17 years as a woman??? I was invited to hobby groups and groups to chill and hang out.

I felt safe in these spaces?

They’re not spaces to share emotions, feelings and struggles while being able to learn and grow as people?

Like, I dunno, I also grew up where a man deciding he wanted to shave his legs because it feels nice got him called a woman, and shamed so much he stopped doing it and lived in discomfort.

Sounds systemic and unsafe to me.

Hobby spaces aren’t safe spaces in the same way that spaces carved out to be safe spaces are.

Also marginalized men exist.

Men of Colour, Trans Men, Gay men?? Queer men as a whole?

Men targeted to uphold patriarchy that are then discarded once the patriarchy is settled.

A black man wanting a space where he isn’t treated like he’s inherently dangerous isn’t just important because he’s a man, but because that idea he is inherently a threat for being a BLACK man is dangerous.

People can’t remove that from conversations about gender either.

Gay men don’t really 1:1 oppress straight women either.

Like, even if you personally (broadly, not at you) don’t want to lead someone from those ideals, someone has to teach. Someone has to willingly pull people away from that.

People talk about rehabilitative justice and then turn around and say, “hey I think you’re harmful for existing and you deserve suffering”.

As if that helps somehow?

This just rounds back to, as well, marginalized men exist, and the Men vs Women dichotomy is literally Radical Feminism which ignores the racial factors of oppression. Which is how white women get away wish racism to black women while also saying “we need to stay united”

Actually, after comparing the vote numbers, I might have to re-revise my revision.

It looks like the main reason Trump won is support for the Democrats collapsed, they lost fifteen million votes from 2020 compared to only three million for Trump.

And, that's not surprising? People were fed up with Biden, when Harris took over, there was brief excitement, but then her campaign said she wouldn't do anything different. She continued all the same policies as Biden, and then started touting all her neo con Republican endorsements, said she wanted Republicans in her cabinet, she basically ran as a Republican-lite.
