main take aways from Halloween (1978) rewatch:

michael myers is canonically 21??? this bitch should be at the club

that's it that's the movie

outside of the fact that everyone who has sex is murdered by the narrative, this is a surprisingly chill portrayal of female sexuality? these teen girls are horny and actively enjoying Getting It On with their boytoys. no pushy boyfriends sneaking in through their bedroom windows--these ladies are taking the initiative to sneak out and GET SOME. one of them gets laid and then immediately orders her boyfriend to get her a beer. (yes she gets Slashered soon afterward, but so does the boyfriend so honestly, gender equality.) yes the Final Girl is the only one not having sex, but she's not bullied for that, nor are her friends slut shamed except possibly by being murdered by the narrative

actually the only character who is shown being morally condemned on-screen is michael myers. specifically FOR his violent overreaction to other people's sex lives. (people he is spying on). metaphorically, the villain is American Puritanism sticking its judgy nose into other people's business.

but actually the real villain is the doctor. guy's a judgemental, shaming, pathologizing asshole. and he's been in charge of michael's care since he was SIX YEARS OLD? kid never had a chance. i'd go on a killing spree too

also the parents. where are the parents? it's halloween night and all the teenage girls are home babysitting their younger siblings? come to think of it, michael's first victim was his own older sister, whom he killed while she was babysitting him. teen girls are really shouldering a labour burden here. maybe parentification is the true villain

side note: mike commits his first murder wearing a clown costume...which is never referenced again? his 'iconic' costume is a generic mask and wig and jumpsuit, when we coulda had a Killer Clown Michael Myers??? travesty

i like how the Final Girl and her friend casually smoke weed in her car. yeah she's an honor student and her friend is the sheriff's daughter. yeah they smoke weed. so what it's 1978

(to reiterate, mike is 21 and should be at the club. im not saying he shouldn't be rampaging, im saying it's sad that he broke out, tasted freedom for the first time in his life, and immediately snuck back into his childhood home to go rampaging. let's have a remake where he goes to a nightclub and has a few beers. maybe some slutty dancing. then rampage)

this is how I think Bruce Wayne drinks champagne at galas Clark is attending, just to fuck with him. shades of the real Bruce Wayne, gone before anyone can see them. no one else has super senses that can slow things down enough for them to see all the interlocking micro expressions, the sharpness that's there in his eyes for just one second.

There is a brutal contrast in how Megatron and Optimus's stories end. Optimus nobly surrenders his spark, along with the Matrix of Leadership, having been sent off by his dear and trusted friends after giving them a fond farewell. He has accomplished his life's greatest goal; now he is able to rest. He dies willingly, at peace, bringing hope and giving life to the next generation by restoring the Allspark.

Megatron had already been killed, and was told that he can never join that very Allspark. Having been enslaved, and only released because of Optimus's actions, he is now reanimated, inhabiting his own corpse. His only remaining ally, who has constantly betrayed him, does not understand him. He flies off, alone, having lost all his forces and failed in his mission, and realizing that his life's greatest purpose was misguided. He is left, we can only assume, to live a hellish and hopeless life--a shell, consumed by the past.

And he did not tell Optimus goodbye. He knows that Optimus will leave him behind, will obtain the heaven he can never enter. He gives him the parting gift of his repentance, to acknowledge this. But in his refusal to say farewell, there is an echo of his own wretched endurance. He does not get to rest. Megatron will remain, eternally alone--eternally waiting for a reunion that will never come.

i absolutely can !!! because mercys inspiration is one specific source media !!! she is based on the 2 main characters from the 2010 version of true grit !

i used this movie as a base for her backstory being a girl on the run to kill the man that murdered her father :] which is what mercy’s story is if i were to simplify it !! of course i added things, but that was my starting point !!

her main visual inspiration was mattie ross in the movie !

she was also partially visually inspired by cogburn, but his personality was the main thing i took and applied to mercy ! shes a drunk and chain smoker, very do not care shoot first ask questions later kinda lady !

I just saw a clip from the Kung Fu Panda 4 movie- the ending part, I believe. It was every Kung Fu Panda villain master in history, from the series, new ones, and of course, the big three. Guys, I love friendship and all, and I'm glad that afterlife!Tai Lung seemed to have gotten over his beef with Po and that whole, dragon warrior stuff, but PLEASE!

All I want is to see Tai Lung and shifu reunite, I don't care in what way. It could be them fighting (though I will cry my eyes out), saving the other mid battle, sitting down for a cup of tea- no matter! I just want them to see each other, I want some insight of their thoughts about the first movie because Shifu loved Tai Lung- LOVES him, I still believe. Yet after the first movie we didn't see any reminiscing, and regret, missing or anything like that on Shifu's end. That is not the behaviour of someone who still sees their big, buff baby boy as just that- A BABY BOY while they're trying to kill you.
