The Lordâs Prayer
âBut thus you shall pray: Our Father, Who art (you - one person - are) in heaven, may Your Name be acknowledged as Holy;â âmay Your Kingdom be Blessed (Favored by God; happy; prosperous) ; may Your will be done in heaven and on earthâ. âGive us our bread continuallyâ. âForgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us, âand do not allow us into the power of temptation but keep us from all evil. Matthew 9:35-38 (AMP). âJesus went throughout all the cities and villages [in Galilee], teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news (gospel) of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness [His words and His works reflecting His Messiahship]. When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion and pity for them, because they were dispirited and distressed, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, âThe harvest is [indeed] plentiful, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.â
Matthew 6:9-13 (AMP). âPray, then, in this way: âOur Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. âYour kingdom come, Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. âGive us this day our daily bread. âAnd forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment]. âAnd do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]ââ
âLord, Teach Us to Prayâ By In Touch ministries:
âKeep talking to the LordâHe always welcomes you, just as you are.â
âWhen it comes to prayer, there are two common pitfalls to be aware of. First, when itâs unclear what to pray, some people choose not to pray at all. And second, many believers settle into a lifeless form of praying that leaves them feeling hollow and disconnected from God. Both situations lead to discontentment and frustration.
As Christians, we know that we should pray, even if doing so seems daunting. But far more than any sense of obligation we may feel, itâs wise to recognize that God intended prayer as a blessing for His children: Communing with Him is a fundamental way of experiencing His fullness. We have much to gain by prayingâincluding peace, comfort, wisdom, and Godâs very presence. So it would be tragic to give up on trying.
And remember, when we communicate with God, thereâs no measuring stick or scorecard. A fumbling yet heartfelt attempt pleases Him far more than a well-worded litany that lacks sincerity. And keep in mind that formal prayersâsuch as the one Jesus taught His disciples (Matthew 6:9-13)âcan help us find a path back into the practice when weâre lost.
Start with the Lordâs Prayer today and return to it as often as needed. You may eventually find your own words flowing freely as a result. But if not, donât give up. Just keep talking to the Lord.â

This Verse Secretly Undermines All of Christianity...
youtube
I just saw this and thought I would process it on my own.
This YouTuber doesn't sound like he's explored much beyond mainstream Western Christianity. He makes the bold statement that EVERY Christian sect finds indispensable the idea that Christ died on the Cross "for our sins". Period.
For the longest time I found that challenging too. He goes on to talk about many of the same things I've asked, "Why couldn't God just forgive us outright? Why must he go through a generational pageant to do something the God of the Universe could have done of his own accord in the first place?"
You can say this is a dumb question. I've been told this many times.
Yet I have never been the only one asking this.
Many, if not all Atheists ask this question. Frankly, many "Christian" answers sound a little unhinged.
Now, I don't think that his examples necessarily contradict the prevailing point of view though. All anyone has to do is look at the banking industry to see that credit on future earnings is a valid payment method. Now it's true that modern banking, and especially credit, wasn't developed until the European Jews, unable to make a living any other way, started lending during the medieval period. Jesuits came up with the idea of insurance, which didn't technically fall under the prohibition against usury. And with ongoing innovation, modern financial markets developed.
None of these, of course, would have been understood by the local people of Jesus' time and place.
What was understood was life and death.
And this is where I found my peace.
Sins can easily be forgiven, but sickness and eventual death? That's a whole other nut to crack. Now, to be clear, unfortunately even the most traditional Christian communities have started to obsess about how SIN must be atoned!
But there is a strain in the oldest Christian traditions that it wasn't primarily sin that was destroyed on the cross, but rather death, disease, corruption (of which sin is a derivation to be sure, but not the point).
Now it's easy to look around and say - "Look! it didn't work." I myself have had to say good bye to both my parents over the last several months.
However, there is a resurrection that is promised. And if Christ has done what he said he did, then there WILL be a general resurrection.
The key is to be prepared for that resurrection. Now we could go on about which denomination is best prepared, but I have little faith in denominationalism. I think it's a means to conquer and divide the faithful, pitting follower against follower. Soon the God who's being worshiped isn't the most High God, but the Deceiver who encourages us all to call each other heretics. I do not think most "Christians" are Christian, but rather following their own wisdom (1 Timothy 6:3-5, 2 Thessalonians 2:11, Matthew 7:13-14, Matthew 24:11).
Now I may be a false teacher myself for thinking such a thing and putting it out there, but I have faith that God will know his own. And while he loves the rest, and has given them life, that life will be so much less for the fact that they reject what he's given them.
I find the idea of a river of fire helpful - Moses and the Glory of God (Exodus 33:20-23), speaks to the idea that to human senses, God is Fire. The Story of the Three Holy Youths (Daniel 3) has also been seen as an illustration of man abiding in the presence of fire, as a proxy for God, unharmed. Pentecost is God's fire experienced by the faithful after his resurrection. How will Gods fire be experienced by the unfaithful?
I have no idea, but I doubt that it will be pleasant (Luke 16:19-31).
In short, I feel this video failed to land it's point. There's enough diversity in Christianity to survive this argument, though I do not think that most modern Christians are open to my resolution.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy upon me, a sinner.

"Donât get me wrong, I did meet many warm, caring, and friendly pastors. Itâs not an easy role to assumeâwhether youâre a pastor, a priest, a mullah, or a rabbiâif youâre a teacher of the law. Too many pastors are comfortable putting their followers into a state of shame and guilt if they donât follow the law, which entails that the pastors, too, have to restrict their freedom and follow the law. If they, the representatives of the law, break the law, then they are riven with shame and guilt. If you preach Turn the other cheek, you better take the slaps. If you preach Drinking alcohol is a sin, you better not imbibe." | "For some reason, perhaps since I was an outsider, in my one-on-one conversations with pastors, they would often confess their transgressions that were keeping them up at night. This would range from one confessing he would sneak off into the woods to enjoy his cigar to another pastor who cried when he confessed he was addicted to porn. And they have to hide it. Come on, guys. Light up and lighten up. The appeal Jesus had for me was that he was someone who rejected the religious establishment and hung out with societyâs rejects, those labeled as sinners." | "âWhen the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, âWhy does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?â On hearing this, Jesus said, âIt is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: âI desire mercy, not sacrifice.â For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinnersâââ (Matthew 9:11â13 NIV)." | Hassan Yousef, Mosab; Becket, James/From Hamas to America: My Story of Defying Terror, Facing the Unimaginable, and Finding Redemption in the Land of Opportunity.

There are Astonishing Heroes of the Faith! (And YOU Might Be One of Them!)
Hereâs a word I bet you havenât used lately. What makes something astonishing? Have you been astonished lately? Or have you been astonishing? As we have walked through the Bible book by book, we can pause to remember that the Gospels contain some astonishing stories, like these from Matthew and Luke:âThen they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so thatâŠ

Jesus is Coming
Some years ago I was walking around the reception tables after a wedding I had performed. An older woman approached me with a question. Almost everyone present at this particular wedding had come from a high church liturgical tradition. In their tradition, they had sometimes weekly, sometimes monthly recited either the Apostleâs Creed or the Athanasian Creed. But apparently, she hadnât beenâŠ

Living His Word
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e112e53bc7000a726524c1851dcc2341/7b0c0749f61ac261-d1/s540x810/5b0c3dd7bdf25a8f30b9681dcfe153db846d6bc3.jpg)
"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its taste, it cannot be made salty again. Salt is useless if it loses its salty taste. It will be thrown out where people will just walk on it." â Matthew 5:13
What is salt? Salt is a crystalline compound that occurs as a mineral and is used primarily in food preparation. It both seasons food and preserves food. Jesus used "salt" as a metaphor for the way His disciples should relate to the world. As a seasoning for the world, the disciples of Jesus would transform the world into something good that would please the Lord. As a preservative for the world, the disciples of Jesus would preserve what is still good in the world from further corruption.
If, however, salt loses its taste, which could actually happen to the salt of Palestine, then it cannot fulfill its seasoning and preservative functions. With respect to the disciples of Jesus, this would mean that they have lost their spiritual distinctiveness and vigor and are no longer capable of transforming the world into something that God finds pleasing. It would also mean that they are no longer capable of preserving whatever is still good in the world from further corruption.
Salt that has lost its distinctive properties is, as a consequence, useless in food preparation. When the salt of Palestine lost its saltiness, it was thrown out into the streets where it was trodden under foot. With respect to the disciples of Jesus, this would mean that they are useless as a transformative and preservative force in the world. As such, their ultimate destination is to be thrown out of the church of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God. Instead of being lifted up and being made to shine like stars forever and ever as will the true disciples of Jesus (Daniel 12:3), such false disciples will be cast down and treated with utter contempt in hell.
As Christians, we are supposed to be the salt of the earth; we are supposed to be a transformative and preservative force in the world. Today, go forth as the true salt of the world. Within the sphere God has placed you, large or small, transform what needs transforming and preserve what needs preserving.

âRejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.â â1 Thessalonians 5:16
âIn all circumstances part 1: trust in God's characterâ By Antique Candle Co.:
âWhy is it that we most often seek the Lord during the valleys of life? We know from His Word that He wants us to seek Him in every season. During the peaks, with moments of great joy and celebration; during the valleys, in times of worry and uncertainty. Not only does He desire His children to seek Him out, but He calls us to be faithful in all circumstances.
âTrust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding...â âProverbs 3:5
Trusting in the Lord's character allows us to find hope in every situation. It's not just about trusting God to get us through the difficult moments, but fully trusting in who He is, which extends to every moment of life.
So what is God's character? Many things. God cannot be compared to anything else in all creation. He created all things. Therefore, there are some attributes of Christ we can and cannot understand. We can't understand being 'unchanging' or 'all-knowing' ourselves because, as we are finite beings, we are neither. However, His Word tells us these truths about Him so that we may trust the characteristics that are unique to God alone. We can see and acknowledge the truth of His character in the Word and in our own lives.
GOD IS UNCHANGING:
âJesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.â âHebrews 13:8
âEvery good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.â âJames 1:17
GOD IS FAITHFUL:
â...if we are faithless, he remains faithfulâfor he cannot deny himself.â â2 Timothy 2:13
âThe Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever and his faithfulness to all generations.â âPsalm 100:5
GOD IS ALL-KNOWING:
âHe who planted the ear, does he not hear? He who formed the eye, does he not see? He who disciplines the nations, does he not rebuke? He who teaches man knowledgeâthe Lordâknows the thoughts of man, that they are but a breath.â âPsalm 94:9
GOD IS SOVEREIGN:
âFor from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.â âRomans 11:36
âIn him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight.â âEphesians 1:7-8
âAnd we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.â âRomans 8:28
âAnd this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.â âMatthew 24:14
Place your trust in a God who is unchanging, faithful, all-knowing, sovereign, and so much more. In all circumstances, His character is something that will never fail.â
