I like to imagine Xie Lian checking in on heaven every once in a while for business or something and now that heaven barely has a central government and people are more relaxed without any one scary force up their asses all the time he sometimes comes back to some pretty weird stuff. After all, every god is a nosy drama queen and everything has the potential for a competition. Imagine if one day some smaller martial gods got bored and started an arm wrestling contest and whoever won started bragging about it which caused some other martial gods to want a piece of the action. Because every martial god is overly competitive by nature, this eventually gets weirdly out of hand and now the top martial gods are having the most legendary arm wrestling tournament in history. Xie Lian walks in in the middle of it, bewildered; “Oh, no thank you, I couldn’t possibly, I should be quick, San lang is waiting for me—“ he answers but a simple “come on, your highness!” and a recap of the latest events is all it takes to convince a top martial god to give it a shot.
Across the room, Feng Xin just obliterated another round and is on a crazy hot streak. His spirits are high and he’s ready for his next victim as he looks across the table, and the opponent in his view is none other than Xie Lian.
A cold sweat runs down his back.
Of course it ends with Xie Lian vs Pei Ming, the grandest showdown they’ve seen in a great while, and Xie Lian going home that night to that San Lang of his with another weird heavenly trophy to put in the display case they had to make for all these weird prizes he keeps bringing home from work. Who knew gods really are more idle than ghost kings!

Okay I've thought a lot about how I would do the Tom King Best of the Best style Black Canary vs. Shiva fight (whilst keeping as much of the original idea in tact).
Tumblr media
Main thing is that I would change the training line up. In his version you have Wildcat (Ted Grant), the original Black Canary (Dinah Drake), and Batman training her. And while I love her JSA links getting a shout out I have no idea why Batman is there except for the fact that both King and DC think Batman has to be everywhere.
If I was to redo it I would have the lineup instead be:
Dinah Drake and Ted Grant
Connor Hawke
Cassandra Cain
So partially this is just because Connor Hawke and Cassandra Cain are two of the best hand-to-hand fighters in the DC universe who have previously and fought and held their own against Lady Shiva.
But also they also have more thematic significance. Along with Grant and Drake represent the key superhero groups that Dinah has been part of and shaped throughout her superhero career. Drake and Grant representing the JSA who raised her. Connor Hawke representing the Arrow Family she shaped. And Cassandra Cain representing the Birds of Prey she co-founded and her future as a hero.
(She has also been JLA/JLI and you could fit Batman in for that, but I would argue that she is the premiere hand-to-hand fighter of the main JLA cast over him)
Not only does this provide a good showcase of different chapters Dinah's story, but it also highlights the importance of her role in the DC universe as a teammate and often a team leader. Also it allows the people whose lives and heroic careers she's shaped to support her in her literal fight for the top billing as a solo act as she strives to become DC's Best of the Best.

Thinking old thoughts about henghill during the Wardance today, because I think it would be funny for Dan Heng to help Boothill "prep" for his matches wink wink nudge nudge.
Like Boothill has Dan Heng pinned up against the door in his lodgings, mouths and bodies slotted together, hands all over each other, metal warmed, fans whirring, something like adrenaline hot and heavy in his synthetic veins, and Boothill is just about to pick Dan Heng up to carry him over so he can bend him over the table-
And then Dan Heng suddenly hits the open switch and just shoves Boothill out the fucking door NDKXKJXMDLD
Boothill tumbles out into the hallway, blinks. Blinks again. Turns back around just in time to see the door slam shut in his face. "Don't come back until you've won your match," says Dan Heng's muffled voice through the door.
Boothill stares for a second, processing...processing...processing complete! And his grin is suddenly wide enough to nearly split his face.
Boothill throws his head back and laughs as he slams his hand on the door, leans in close to it to make sure he can be heard on the other side. Tells Dan Heng to just watch, he'll go win this just for him, and he'd better be here waiting cause he'll be back in no time flat!! "Yer the best, love ya babe!!" And then Boothill happily trots off to go beat someone within an inch of their life on live TV while he's still riled up and rarin' to go. ☆
((Luka, who unfortunately saw this nastiness from down at the end of the hall: Wow, Mr. Boothill seems to have a good warmup plan. Maybe I should ask him about it?
Caelus, covering Luka's eyes: Luka, don't be like them.))

How successful would the Chairman of Iron Chef America…
Tumblr media
Propaganda for the mic skills:
Man is SUPER charismatic. Just watch any episode of Iron Chef America, Mark Dacascos chews the scenery like a pro-wrestler would. He’s got the theatrics of being a pro-wrestler down pat.

/
Propaganda for the wrestling skills:
Mark Dacascos is an action star and a trained martial artist. You want proof? Watch his scenes in John Wick 3. Also, Mark was doing backflips while he was playing the Chairman, so the character can canonically do the high-flying wrestling moves.

The trend of people putting hatsune mikus into all their cultures reminded me about my several years old AU where i dropped xhaka and ruwei in buttfuck nowhere midwestern USA. Started as a joke and is still immensely funny 2 me as a midwestern man but now there is also like. Plot
Did you guys know Morita said ruwei was literally born in the US like actually?? He's literally Chinese American. Fuck You The American Part Is Midwestern Now Canonically. Doubly So In This AU.

Concept art for Luci and Aida!
Luci is Aida’s older sister and acting guardian. Due to…family complications, Luci’s mission is to raise Aida and make ends meet—while drawing as little attention to themselves as possible. The fact that Aida has magic powers and acrofacial vitiligo makes it a bit hard to blend in, though.

I also watched an entire film about Go which I also don't know anything about except that it's very old and difficult and I also know very little to nothing about chess or poker but it came up in films often enough that I was vaguely familiar with some vocabulary or could guess if things were going well. With Go I was completely lost but it added a lot of suspense lol

Broken Bones and the Unbreakable Spirit: Lessons from 47 Years of Martial Arts
Daily writing promptHave you ever broken a bone?View all responses With 47 years under my belt in the world of martial arts, it’s no surprise the question of broken bones comes up. Photo by Vlad Dediu on Pexels.com Across full- and semi-contact styles (Kyokushin, Sanda, Kung Fu just to name some) and grappling disciplines (such as Jiu Jitsu), let’s just say I’ve had my fair share of fractures.…
