it's very stupid
#it's very stupid to realize one has- maybe- a trauma#like.. it doesn't effect-affect me in any way i can think of (lolz that just leaves the subconcuous mind dawg) ...#so it's not that bad? :) eh?#like how i got it wadn't stupid no-one in the situation was stupid but why did it stick?!?! that's stupid#why did i just realize (i have known for a long time. i think.) that that's the reason i couldn't be exited for anything -#without being scared.#like fuck is it still here??!?! i just made me my favourite soup! it has fish and everything! it's so good and i almost never get it#i love it and i can't wait to eat it but why then did i catch myself thinking ''prepare. you're gonna mess up the ingredients somehow it#won't be as good as you think it will''#I DON'T WANNA BE INDIFFERENT TO THE SOUP#I LOVE THE SOUP#why must i be so scared to be excited about stuff i actually care about#i remember once crafting a mailbox out of paper. it was really good i spent a long time to make it perfect#then i went to show it around. i saw my mother starting to praise it. it had to be destroyed#it's so stupid i was so angry at my mother for making me destroy the thing i had put so much effort into. .#but in the moment it felt like it had to be done. i could not keep around something that others knew i loved because they would know i would#be sad when it eventually went kaput. i had to prevent that from happening#so i tore it up myself. i remember tearing it up. i was so sad i did not want to tear it up. but the decition had been made (by my brain)#i was too scared#that's just one example. doesn't sound very good now that i write it out#nowdays it's more; i get a new hobby. maritime rules for example. i WANT to talk about it and all the interesting things i learned#i WANT to share. but i do not want them to know what topic/class/hobby/interest i'm talking about#because that would mean thwy know what i like. and i can NOT let them know i've really been enjoying playing the harmonica lately#if they knew... i don't even know#they would pity me when i lose that? they would feel sympathy? they would know my pain? the thing i don't yet have#so in total i can count about two fears#1) being excoted for something and planning it and getting ready only for it to not happen at all#2) the black lake#but like i said it's very stupid

Current harbour crafts utilize fossil fuels to power their systems, but these will be replaced with electric-powered drive systems in the next generation of boats. Recently, battery and energy storage advances have enabled high-powered systems to be commercialized for boats and small ships.
QRDI / Milaha are seeking novel next-generation charging network developments for onshore or offshore combined with battery storage systems for maritime applications, which can meet one of the following use cases.
Onshore – Portable, fast charging station with a marinized charging system.
Offshore – Floating energy harvesting and fast charging station.
The Seeker invites participants to submit proposals for innovative, environmentally friendly energy storage, harvesting and charging systems for marine applications.
Submissions to this Challenge must be received by May 23, 2024.

A BRAND NEW SIMS 3 WORLD : SHETLAND HARBOUR
And here we are ... At last :D
10 years ago, Rope crafted a remarkable world, inspired by Starlight Shores, and generously given away to the community : Brightwater.
We embraced this gift, transforming and reshaping it, creating an island to eliminate distant terrain, and thus, Shetland Harbour was born ...
While many creators have fashioned stunning Sims 3 worlds with a Northern charm—like Saaqartoq, Greymont Bay, Lillebror, or Plymouth Isles—ours, stands a little apart.
Shetland Harbour is a unique blend : a touch of Aurora Skies, a hint of Moonlight Falls, and a dash of the unfortunate Barnacle Bay, all interwoven with our own vision of course. It is a vast yet easily navigable world, balanced between lightness and richness, featuring nearly all the Rabbit Holes the game offers.
Our aim was to craft a cohesive and vibrant world, one that feels alive and contemporary, with harmonious architecture and a spirit that invites exploration and delight :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Welcome to Shetland Harbour, a picturesque coastal town nestled between rolling green hills and a fantastic bay … It is a beautiful medium/large-sized world, a community nestled on its own secluded island, accessible only by ferry. The town is known for its charming cobblestone streets, a vibrant fish market, and a rich history dating back centuries, dotted with quaint cottages, a bustling coast, and a grand lighthouse standing guard at the harbor’s entrance ...
This hidden gem is a haven for sheep, but don't let that fool you – Shetland Harbour is far from a sleepy place. With its rich maritime history, the town offers a unique blend of tradition and vibrant local culture.
Designed to capture the essence of a northern European island, Shetland Harbour offers a self-contained community with 100 lots in total : 65 residential lots + 35 community lots. Each Lot ( except the Old Renovated Factory ) is fully furnished.
In addition, there are multiple sheep ( all by Murfeel ) fields here and there – the latter being especially dear to the local culture, a close-knit community, where the ocean's presence is always felt and the simplicity of rural life is celebrated.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shetland Harbour combines a lively downtown with peaceful suburbs and serene neighborhoods, featuring quaint cottages, charming gardens, and scenic paths through lush greenery.
The town's historic churches, like Old Church, Albert Church or Lux Chapel, are steeped in tales of ancient rituals and ghostly apparitions ... Albert Church, built on a Druidic site, is haunted by druid spirits, while Lux Chapel is known for the ghost of a sailor, seen on stormy nights ...
The mysterious stone circle inside the Graveyard, Ghost Place, adds to the island's mystical allure. Rumored to be a portal to another realm, it activates during celestial alignments, with visitors reporting strange occurrences. Town elders speak of a prophecy foretelling the return of ancient spirits and the awakening of the island's mystical powers. Signs include a rare star alignment, the stone circle's awakening, and three chosen individuals with the island's ancient bloodline ...

• Harbor Bay : The central feature of Shetland Harbour is its expansive bay. The bay is a natural harbor with calm, crystal-clear waters, making it ideal for fishing and sailing. It is surrounded by gently sloping hills and cliffs that provide stunning vistas of the sea. The marina is bustling with fishing boats, sailboats, and yachts sometimes … It’s the hub of maritime activity, with a fish market ( aka Grocery Store ), boat repairs, and a sailing club ( aka Business and Journalism Center )
• Lighthouse District : Right beside the Harbour, stands the Lighthouse Point, this district features historical homes and buildings, including a Norman cottage, a strange Diner and higher into the Hills, a fantastic museum dedicated to the town’s maritime history and a recent Hospital ready to welcome all the citizens of Shetland Harbour :)
• Beaches : The Coastline is dotted with sandy beaches, perfect for beachcombing, picnics, and bonfires. These areas are popular spots for locals and tourists alike. And you may want building some Coastal Houses for your Sims which is possible almost all alongside the sea ;)
• Old Town : The heart of Shetland Harbour is the Old Town, characterized by cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and a charming town square. Shetland Harbour's downtown area is a kinda picturesque pedestrian square, and quaint paths perfect for leisurely strolls …The Old Town includes the Town Hall, the Old Toad, the Talking Dog, a Fish and Chips, and even a Geek Store, all of them under the shadow of one of the oldest shop of the Island : the Elixirium ...
• Rolling Hills : Surrounding the town are rolling green hills covered in wildflowers and dotted with grazing sheep. These hills are perfect for hiking and offer panoramic views of the town and the bay. Beware of the fog !
• Forests and Woodlands : To the north of the town are more dense forests and woodlands with waterfalls upstream of the river which separates part of the island. These areas are home to various wildlife and provide a natural retreat for the residents. There are several well-maintained trails for hiking and exploring :)

IMPORTANT : Before downloading Shetland Harbour !!!
Shetland Harbour contains custom content. As much as we try to include them into the world building process, we learned with time the necessity of providing a list those items. No worries, we used the same cc creators as usual and added 2 or 3 more. Such as the grey/dark roof we made, based on the terracotta roof of the game and the Wood walls you'll find on different lots, the same as the ones of Oaksoak Hollow ... Or more important, the boats used in the world and of course ... The sheeps ! All you need should be included and/or available down here ;)
1) the ANTS & CC :)
ANTS stand for Absolute Necessary Things & Stuff to enjoy Shetland Harbour :)
Download ANTS and CC ( both are needed to have all the right textures, the right look and feel of Shetland Harbour )
You will need too some of our Rabbit Holes
Not mandatory but nice : our 88 Patterns mostly brick, masonry, concrete and wood ;) A bit of fabric & paper too ...
ATTENTION : if you have played with one of our Worlds, you might see duplicate files. We try to use the same objects as much as possible. Of course, you don't have to install twice. Skip whatever you already have. We use Blams objects for some Sims 3 objects ... so if you already have those objects from any other means, just skip ;)
CREDITS & THANKS due to all the following creators :

Hi, I am traveling to the Eaat coast soon, and wonder if you have any fun craft/fashion/history related tourist attractions to recommend in Halifax, Charlottetown, or drivable distances thereabouts? (I seem to recall you live(d) somewhere in the maritimes, please excuse me if I got that wrong)
Hi! I do live in the Maritimes, but haven't travelled much at all (never learned how to drive cars) so I don't know of very much to do.
I've never been to Charlottetown, and I visited Halifax about 15 years ago and recall visiting a fort up on a hill that had old cannons and some neat underground rooms that echoed. I'm sure @sprucegrouses can tell you some things to do in Nova Scotia though!
Here in New Brunswick we've got a big axe statue, the worlds longest covered bridge (which is still not super long) and the Covered Bridge potato chip factory. I've been there once and we got to go on a little tour to watch the chip machines and workers (there was a big glass window). Also the gift shop had big bags of just the tiny little crumbly bits, and I got one of them and they had much more flavour dust on them than just regular chips. That factory burned down last year though and now they're set up somewhere else, I think temporarily? So alas it doesn't look like they've currently got tours or a gift shop with delicious crumbs :(
Saint John has some museums, and I was going to recommend the one with the whale skeletons, but it looks like it's temporarily closed.
NB also has the alleged frog from this post.
The Bay of Fundy has the highest tidal range in the world, which comes with these cool rocks.
Tumblr media
And there's a national park there with some lovely hiking trails. Though rereading your ask I see that these are not fashion or craft related.
Oh! Just remembered that some photos of a 1780's coat I used in my Death's Head button video came from the Ross-Thompson House in Nova Scotia, but I've never been there, they sent me the photos. Looks like somewhere I would like to visit though.

I wonder if there’s going to be a resurgence in maritime superstitions after this Oceangate debacle.
Like, it’s pretty common knowledge that historically, sailors are or were a very superstitious bunch. And how could they not be? On the sea you can take every safety precaution there is, and things can still go wrong. You can still see things in the water or in the darkness of the open sea that you’ll never be able to explain or understand. This is a common experience of naval sailors to this day, you can find plenty of Ask Reddit threads about it.
The sea cannot be tamed. It is the most powerful force on this planet. You can do everything right and it can still take everything and never give it back.
And now you have five dead rich men that will never resurface. All because Stockton Rush tempted fate in every possible way. He did everything wrong in regards to concrete safety precautions. He boasted. He named his submersible after a sunken ship. He married somebody descended from people that the sea had already claimed.
Maybe this part is just me being a bit of a romanticist, but the titan is actually a very different vessel from the Titanic. Despite the arrogant boasting surrounding the Titanic’s maiden voyage, and the arrogance of the Captain, the Titanic was a large vessel that was crafted with care and attention to detail. The Titanic had purpose. It was built with fail safes in mind to prevent sinking. It was meant to be a luxurious experience for those on board. Even third class cabins, though small, were meant to be elegant, clean and comfortable for those staying in them. And the sea took it’s time claiming the titanic, almost as if it was savoring it.
But the Titan was none of those things. It was an idle vessel for people who had no need to be there. It was small. Uncomfortable. Built with carelessness, with no attention to detail what so ever. And it had the gall to name itself after the magnificent liner that it came to crawl over. It didn’t fail on it’s maiden voyage in such a dramatic fashion. Instead the ocean crushed it like an annoying gnat that kept coming back.
