So… apparently a storyboard drawing for the mario bros movie sequel has already been leaked. 💀 (I saw it on the twitter account @cartoonupdates if you want to see it. allegedly it’s been leaked by a reputable leaker who also leaked some accurate storyboards for the sonic 3 movie and knuckles show but idk I haven’t looked that much into it.)

So I just this moment thought of an angsty ending for the Daemon AU

Mario and Luigi are forced to stay separate in Brooklyn and the Mushroom Kingdom, in order to maintain stability with the warp zone between the worlds.

(because the brotherly love between them and their daemons is powerful enough to keep it all stable).

This means though, that the warp pipes must be closed up, and they will never see each other again.

Because they are gracious men, the Bros decide that this is the only way to make sure so many lives are safe. But it's not easy.

They are distraught. Heartbroken. They need to be together.

Eventually Mario tells Luigi that the bond they share truly is precious, because it's thanks to them that others will be safe and happy. It's not fair (and stars it hurts so) but they need to do this.

They have a tearful goodbye. And then the warp pipe closes.

BTW this is MAY become canon to the AU! Angst can be fun, but I can't bare it to have the Bros hurting so. It's too much for me!

Therfore I am debating whether to keep this ending, and work on a happier outcome later on. I would prefer that but not sure if I will be able to come up with anything yet.

It’s kinda ironic how Nintendo Decided to work with Sony On the Zelda movie, especially before that and the production of Illumination’s Mario Movie, they were reportedly working with Sony Pictures Animation To Create A Mario Movie but was cancelled due to unknown reasons with something thinking it was because of the Sony Leak of 2014.

There's another way that a death/1-up scenario could go, which would also help the 1-up not seem like it came entirely out of nowhere:

So, Mario gets knocked off of Rainbow Road by the blue shell koopa, like people were theorizing before. He sees some kind of vision or something with another Lumalee (maybe even hinting at Rosalina's existence). The Lumalee turns into a 1-up, and Mario uses it to come back to life.

Later, in Bowser's castle, Luigi gets killed. The Lumalee from the prison also turns into a 1-up, and Mario uses it to revive Luigi. They hug and stuff.

Idk if this makes any sense, I haven't slept lol. (I also haven't played Galaxy since I was a kid so idk if I got the lore about Lumalees right.)

Man I can't wait to be disappointed when no one actually dies in this movie LMAO
