If the speculation about Daisy being in the Mario Movie sequel is true, then I really do hope she's crazy to offset how sporty and bold Movie Princess Peach is.

And I don't mean a silly-quirky manic pixie dream girl sort of "crazy," I want Daisy to have bloodlust and terrible impulse control. I want a deceptively pretty manic goblin nightmare woman.

I’ll consider it another win over the SCU.

I still like the SCU but the fact that it took almost four movies to get maybe one GAME female character while the Mario movie did it on day one is crazy. (And the sequel is possible giving us another one!)

You know what I've realized about Chris Pratt?

His voice and mannerisms are really good for "average guy" characters, Andy from Parks and Rec and Emmet from Lego Movie really worked for him because those projects played to that strength of his acting. It's also why I think he works as Mario too, cause Mario is also very much an average Joe - who's also just a bit more confrontational, even in the games (especially RPGs).

It's when he has to play an established character that he starts to struggle.

NO ONE liked him as Garfield, because Garfield is a lazy jerk who has a heart under that dry wit, even in his more expressive appearances. Prattfield (as I call him) is basically interchangeable with his other roles, he just eats more. He doesn't react to his villain, odie or his dad with dry snark, he's not especially lazy, etc.

I only really bring it up because we now have a date for the second Mario Movie. As much as I can understand him being Mario again, I hope he can do a better job this time around. 'Cause I've seen Marios with more personality - the earlier animated versions tend to come to mind, because they show a more insensitive side to Mario adventuring with Luigi that actually makes sense.

With the Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel coming in 2026, I hope between now and when the movie is released we get some extra content like shorts or maybe even a TV special (just think of a Luigi's Mansion short film).
