something about how the OIAR is trying to be different/more modern/more put together than the magnus institute they destroyed, even though they’re essentially the same. avatars vs “externals”. named entities vs “powers”. day job vs night job. statements vs cases. archiving vs filing. paper vs computer files. tape recorders vs cctv. tea vs coffee.

the only different is that the institute was trying to stop the Fears while the OIAR is trying to keep them under wraps!! they can try to pretend they’re doing it better and safer and less “involved” than the magnus institute but at the end of the day they’re just as bad!!! if not worse!!!

And I think that’s how it’s meant to be portrayed. Who says it the most? Mike. (From what I’ve picked up on) yet another way to illustrate that Mike puts El on a pedestal and kind of makes her feel dehumanized.

Do I think it’s his fault? No.

Do I think it was intentional for the Duffers to add that little detail? Yes.

(Correct me if I’m wrong about this part)

It just adds to her dehumanization when people refer to her as Eleven, and it feels almost like a deadname to me. She is Jane or El Hopper, not just some number that an abusive asshole assigned her.

you know this is exactly why the conversation between Sukuna and Jogo is one of my favourite moments in jjk. Jogo developed insecurities after his confrontation with Gojo and that encounter weakened his resolve, which in the end made Jogo, this grotesque lava monster, feel like a person.

What I love about this moment is how Sukuna of all people acknowledged Jogo. He reached out and connected to Jogo before his death, which for someone like Sukuna, who believes nobody is his equal, to acknowledge Jogo, was quite beautiful.

I think the description of Benson and Randy's relationship as "parasocial" is quite apt. Benson says "I've been watching you, and I know for a fact..." He posits that Randy is not like anyone else in their small shitty town, that there's something uniquely 'fixable' about him. It's something that Benson stakes most of his motivation on throughout the movie 'it was the only thing I believed' and in some ways this is reflected in Randy as truth, but sometimes the character traits Benson projects onto Randy just fall short of reality. Randy says that his mom held him back a grade and Benson paints the picture of a domineering authority figure that Randy must rebel against, And clearly believes this is the case based on the tenacity with which he listens to--and disapproves of-- Randy's conversation with his mother on the phone. However listening to the conversation is just dull. His mom does come across as over bearing, pointing out the number of rings it took him to pick up, but she's otherwise normal compared to the image Benson seems to have of her. Same with Lisa. Benson strolled into the mall with Randy as though a great revelation was to be made, like Lisa was this monumental event in Randy's life, but Randy and Lisa's relationship was underwhelming. They were briefly dating in highschool and they broke it off rather amicably because Randy was not an emotionally fulfilling partner to Lisa. Randy claims not to know why Lisa broke up with him, and to Benson this is an injustice, but in reality it's just Randy being a little obtuse and naive about Lisa's emotional needs. Lisa could've been more transparent about why the relationship ended but they were kids, and she took the path of little resistance, likely in an attempt to spare Randy's feelings. There's nothing unique or life-altering about Lisa and Randy. Benson seems to project this false narrative onto Randy--and the rest of the world, tbh-- that is further highlighted by Marsha's character, who is another NPC that Benson decides to codify within his world view. Marsha once again deviates from the role Benson believes she fits in, standing up to him and rebelling against the notion that all other people in this town are aimless and complacent. Part of me wondered, after they went to Beard's house, why Randy's 'transformation' felt flat for me, and part of it is because the journey Randy takes is somewhat belied by the fact that Benson did not do any of that for Randy. Not any real version of Randy, anyway. Benson did it for a made up version of Randy in his head and he went along with it because there was a gun at his back.

Can we talk about how fcked up Charles can be sometimes? Can we talk about how Charles can sometimes be actually scary as a person? Like he can legit be nefarious sometimes, but those moments are not as talked about as Erik's warcrimes (aside from the holocaust visions from TAS)

i've been seeing a lot of COD Ghost and Konig fics for a while now and it seems that often times people write them almost similarly with some key differences:

one is that one man is usually depicted as more sexually dominating, and the other is a bit of a switch with (usually) dom preference towards the main character/reader (purposely excluding noncon stuff and most outright abusive kidnapping fics). another is that one of them is usually more chatty than the other and often does language shifting so you use online translators a lot lol. lastly, one has a more well-emphasized air of desperation compared to the other man especially in romance related fics.

i for one am weak for fictional pathetic men on most situations, but is also oddly confident and competent in another (it's a bonus that either could snap me in half if they ever wanted to). this functions as me saying exactly who i prefer over the two

me and @hsavinien pulled together our Owl House cosplays. Wearing dresses gives my fat, butch ass hives, so instead I did the ten-seconds-on-screen latest fashions from the human realm gag.

I didn't sew anything but the skirt and I guess technically sewing the two wigs together (HEAVY, BTW. And yeah we just FOUND those pants!), but I'm DEEPLY proud of how the props came out, particularly the violin for @hsavinien's Raine cosplay.

it was a real, cheap/busted violin. Cut the head off, crafted a palisman shaped head out of cedar. Sav wanted glowy light up strings so I figured out how to string it up by crafting a tail piece that could hold the strings and hide the battery box hole, and suggesting Sav design a simple 3D printed peice to route the LED strand thru since she has printer access. Which she did an amazing job of, and she did the painted embellishments.

Also fairly proud of how Owlbert came out. I love making props out of the actual materials, so instead of 3d printing it or whatever I carved him out of basswood with a Dremel. Which I've never done before.

I was frustrated with the stain job at first, but after some fiddly buffing realized he has a antiqued, lived-in look that seems perfect for a palisman of a wild witch that was carved when she was a teenager. He's also removable so he can be displayed a little easier.

We also handed these out, and some people got misty about it, which was fun.

Felt good to cosplay and art this way after not doing it since like... 2017. Must do again sooner.
