i love the silver trio so much but it always grinds my gears when i remember that while neville and luna still don’t have that much screen time, you still get an essence of who they are as people. their personalities, their morals, their relationship dynamics with other characters (like harry) and yet ginny, despite being a bigger character than both of them, and being harry’s future partner, mother of his children, most important person in his life (to name a few), ginny has exactly ZERO opportunity to shine. unlike her pals, she gets little to no screen time, let alone scenes one-on-one with harry (which both neville and luna have), her entire personality is erased. everything that makes ginny who she is is removed.

it’s absolutely infuriating to watch. as an audience, how are we supposed to get to know her? to understand her? to understand why she is the woman harry wants to spends the rest of his life with? like i love luna and neville, they’re wonderful characters and additions to the story, but prioritising them over ginny in the films (and giving them additional scenes like luna and harry in the forest alone?? it’s a sweet scene but also??? harry & luna don’t interact like that in the books, not to mention luna is much more eccentric and unintentionally amusing in the books, more so than she is perpetually wise and friendly… like we couldn’t have the library scene or the ‘lucky you’ scene in ootp - arguably the most important scenes for ginny (and harry’s) development but we have time for luna to share some nice slightly ooc wisdom with harry? again, i love luna, and i love that scene too, but cutting other important scenes…?)

i could go on and on about this. but i just hate that she is so sidelined, and discarded in the films, despite being such an important character as an individual and in relation to harry. i’ll never understand you david yates. ginny, sweetie, i’m so sorry.

“Oh,” the man tuts softly. “You don’t know Potter as I do, Bellatrix. He has a great weakness. For heroics; the Dark Lord understands this about him. Now give me the prophecy, Potter.”

“I know Sirius is here. I know you’ve got him!”

“It’s time you learned the difference between life and dreams, Potter,” the man bites out. he's starting to sound annoyed. “Now give me the prophecy or we start using wands.”

At that threat Evie shifts herself in front of Harry, settling a glare at the leader. Hermione breathes in sharply from her other side, and Evie knows she is filling the gap Evie left behind so there are no openings in their defense.

Evie doesn’t feel any panic or fear. She feels only the coolness of battle settling over her. It’s a feeling she’d been longing for. Evie is ready to see what the Death Eaters are made of.

“What’s this?” The man steps back, holding a hand up in a vague gesture. He’s dressed in the same sweeping black robes as most of the others. Apparently, the Death Eaters coordinate their clothing. She wishes to crack that joke to Sebastian but keeps her face stony. “You let a girl fight your battles for you, Potter?”

“Your threats are weak,” Evie lets her eyes flick to each masked Death Eater. Her voice sounds as bored as a student in History of Magic. “Now if I were to threaten you, it would go more like...back off before I make you. Before I incinerate you with a spell none of you can comprehend. You’re all out of your league here. If you value your lives you’ll back off!” She furthers her point with her wand, raising it slightly.

Sorry, but for me J.K didn't write good romances. We don't know Astoria, Rolf and Hannah. Lupin and Tonks appeared out of nowhere. Jily is undrinkable. Hinny has little or no development over 7 books even though they have really known each other since volume 2. Romione is really not great from my point of view. Don't even get me started on Dumbledor and Grindelwald...

Bill & Fleur are the only ones, among the young characters, that I find cute and even then it's a very secondary couple. Honestly, Molly and Arthur are the only real Harry Potter goal couple in my eyes. And yet, they also haven't seen them much !

Heads up - there’s angst ❤️

Draco has scars all over the part of his arm where he has the death eater mark from scrubbing and scratching at it all the time

Hermione only wears long sleeves and jackets to cover up the mud blood tattoo from bellatrix

George has never been the same - yeah, he’ll smile and pretend he’s happy, but he’s not. He’s dead inside.

Harry has PTSD. He has to have full security at their house (he triple checks the doors and windows are locked so no one can get it, he always makes sure his kids are alive and okay, he sleeps facing Ginny so he knows she’s still there, etc)

Luna is generally liked more than she was before the battle of hogwarts. People respect and appreciate her more

Cho has a son called Cedric. Yeah, she’s married and happy but she’s never moved on from him

Neville gets along really well with Molly Weasley (he respects her and appreciates what she did to Bellatrix)

On the topic of Neville, his parents have been able to smile and feel free for the first time in 17 years after Bellatrixs death

Narcissa will never forgive Lucius for forcing draco into being a death eater - he’s her only child and she would do anything even if it meant destroying the world for him

Draco doesn’t allow scorpius to see or even mention Lucius since he’s scared Lucius will try and drag him down the path he dragged draco into

Hermione can’t handle screaming (she gets visions and flashbacks of her screams when Bellatrix tortured her)

Ron has dreams where it wasn’t just Fred, Remus, dumbledore and Snape who died, everyone he knew and loved was dead

Hagrid still feels the weight of Harry’s ‘corpse’ when he carries heavy things

Harry keeps the sock he gave Dobby under his pillow to remember him

George gets called Fred by people a lot… let’s just say he never fails to cry each time

Harry has wands everywhere, like in the most random places

Draco didn’t used to have a patronus

His boggart is his father

Molly can’t even look at George some days

Narcissa calls and sends letters to draco daily to make sure he’s alright and Lucius hasn’t come back in his life

Dracos patronus is Scorpius

Hermione never looks at her parents the same

She feels guilty for erasing their memory of her

Ginny is fiercely protective of her brothers and parents (just like Molly), every Sunday they all meet up at the burrow

At all of the Weasleys weddings, they leave an empty chair at the dining table and the aisle for fred and even have a plate and glass out for him along with a picture of him on the table

They do this at home aswell

George doesn’t allow Molly or Arthur to change anything about his and Fred’s room even after he moved out. It’s the only thing he has left of fred

Draco and Harry are friends (quite close actually)

George keeps Freds wand with him at all times

Lily II and James II are the SPITTING IMAGE of Lily and James (it’s genuinely uncanny)

Fred II also looks like Fred aswell

Hermione visits Lavenders grave a lot and apologises for hating her for the thing with Ron

November Prompt 21: Crisp Air

Words: 905 | Pairing: Neville Longbottom x reader

In the distance, you can make out Neville’s frame hunched on a bench in front of the main greenhouse. Thick brown vines trailing across the giant frosted windows hug the structure behind him and the morning horizon peeks just beyond it. The view is breathtaking, but you can’t bring yourself to stop staring at him.

Your close footsteps draw his attention from the book in his hands and up towards you. His thick brown hair is blowing in the soft morning winds and he shoves his book away, immediately coming off the bench to greet you with a warm smile. His gloved hands rest on your cheeks and he leans down to plant a soft kiss on your lips, warming you more than you’d been with your hands shoved inside your coat pockets on the walk over. When he pulls away, his ocean blue eyes gaze into yours and you get lost in them until the crisp morning air rushes over the both of you. The moment you shiver against him, he reaches into his bag for the extra greenhouse keys he’d managed to get from Professor Sprout at the beginning of the year.

“Next class isn’t due til noon, so we have plenty of time to study,” he grunts while pushing the heavy door open with his shoulder. With a sigh, he turns back toward you, following your lead after you step inside. Shortly after, he locks the door from the inside. “But I don’t understand why you want to study dittany, we’re far more advanced than that.”

You take in the warmth of the greenhouse. All the sunlight that seems to have disappeared over the week has been absorbed inside the frosted glass walls. Everywhere you turn there’s plant pots, soil and fertilizer bags or some green herb growing lushly. It makes you smile, makes you happy to be able to witness life in this form when everything outside of here is withering away and growing colder with winter fast approaching.

You peel your coat off, then your gloves and scarf and earmuffs and toss them on the only empty table you can find before turning to see your boyfriend’s look of confusion.

“Come on, Nev,” you purr softly. “Warm me up a bit?”

Your teeth sink into your bottom lip the moment he slips out of his coat and drops everything on the ground before scurrying to you. Neville steps in front of you, allowing his fingertips to curl against the hairs at the nape of your neck before pulling you into an open-mouthed kiss.

He’s gotten loads more attention now due to his changing looks, but you’ve had the real luxury of watching him grow older over the years. His puffy cheeks were the first to go, eventually rounding out into a sculpted, chiseled jawline and soon after, his body had done the same, leaving him with nothing but pure muscle that threatened to tear through the white button up he’d failed to replace. And though he had many physical changes, his kindness and courage and care for you always remained, and that’s what you love most.

You hop on top of the table, shaking a few pots in the neighboring potting tables which gains a laugh from the both of you. And once you’ve steadied yourself, you glide your hands over his, which had dropped to your waist during your kiss. Then, you trail up his wrists and slowly over his biceps until you reach his shoulder blades. You work your fingers tenderly into the knots that always form there and he grunts loudly in relief.

“You’re doing it again, aren’t you?” You moan. “Carrying all the plant pots for the first years?”

He bows his head in shame, knowing that he told you he’d stop two weeks ago.

“You know how heavy those pots can get, Y/n, and they’re so small. It reminds me of us seven years ago,” he admits.

“Nev, you promised. It’s admirable, truly, but you’re neglecting your own body.”

“I can handle it,” he whispers and leans in closer, looking you straight in the eyes with a smirk. “Besides, I have you to rub out all the kinks and knots.”

You scoff softly before giggling against his touch and pulling him closer. He rests his head against your shoulder, his breath steadying against the goosebumps that have prickled across your skin.

“Y/n?” He breathes.

“Mhm?”

“I want you to stay with me over the break,” he answers, pulling back to see the clear excitement and nervousness on your face.

In all the years of dating, he’d never asked, and during the times you’d begged him, he always said he didn’t want to intrude on you and your time with your family; though, he didn’t even have his own anymore.

“Yes. Yes! Of course I’ll come, Nev,” you exclaim and rest your hands against his collarbones.

“Y/n,” he says again and you gaze up into his eyes once more. “I’m absolutely head over heels in love with you.”

You blush hard as he brushes your tears away and pulls your lips back against his. In that kiss, you both make a silent vow to never abandon each other. And that vow, in a world where anything can be frigid and crisp on the outside, having the ability to lean on each other for warmth whenever you may need it feels absolutely amazing, just as love should.
