The simmering and slight whispers in Slughorn's classroom were the only thing audible, a cold breeze which glided past your cheeks made you sigh. It was mid July and unbearably hot in Hogwarts.
The worst thing was that teachers, especially Slughorn, didn’t approve of improper uniforms. You were allowed to wear shorts, even short sleeve shirts but the robes had to stay, safety reasons he had said. You were sure that he secretly enjoyed seeing you all suffer.
“I’ll drop dead soon, it’s sooo hot in here” Isolde, your friend, muttered as she wiped her forehead with her arm. You were hot, yes, but Isolde had to bear the heat with a head full of black thick curls.
“I told you to put your mane up.” Diana snickered, her ash white hair in a bun on top of her head. You stirred your pot and took another look at the book, something didn’t seem right. Why was Isolde’s whitish and yours almost green?
“It’s not that simple, Diana.” Isolde bit back, her mouth in a thin line. “Just ‘cause you have a fist full of hair.” Diana’s mouth opened in shock as she smacked her friend's shoulder.
“Why is yours like that and mine’s like this?” You asked, leaning over Isolde’s cauldron, eyebrows in a frown.
“Cause you’re kinda shit at potions, hun.” She patted your shoulder and gave you a fake pout.
“But I really need this grade.” You grumbled as you stared at your greenish liquid. Slughorn wouldn’t even be surprised, you thought. “I know, I know." Isolde whispered and dropped something you didn’t know into your cauldron.
“Why don’t you ask for help?” Diana spoke, eyes fixed on her book. “Help? From who?” Diana gave you a small smile.
“You heard Slughorn before, Potter’s a genius at potions.” Your eyes widened as you shook your head. “No fucking way, Potter’s a nightmare.” Isolde’s mouth twitched into a smile as nudged you.
“That’s not what I heard two nights ago.”
Your eyes closed as you turned to your cauldron, you had played truth or dare spiked with Veritaserum. You had blabbered about how hot James Potter and his friends were and how much you would give for him to do certain things to you.
“Shut up, Diana.” You grumbled.
A second later a paper bird stumbled over your head onto your book, flapping its wings as it unfolded.
10 Prettiest Girls
Y/N L/N - slytherin, scary :(
Aurora Kent - boring
Lily Evans - snivellus' friend
Narcissa Black - cousin, not cool
Marlene McKinnon
Diana Hunt - slytherin, airhead
Isolde O’Neil - mean also slytherin
Alice Fortscue
Mary McDonald
Florence Williams - slytherin
You couldn’t believe what you held in your hands. Your eyes widened as you looked over it again. You were number one, wow, but you’re scary?
Slowly you turned around, paper in your hand. Sirius and Peter stared at you with wide eyes as you noticed what had happened. This paper wasn’t supposed to fall into your hands, it was supposed to fly over your head into James’ and Remus’ hands.
With your face cold as ice you walked over to them, their eyes still wide. Remus took a step back.
“Y/N, hi.” He spoke, much higher than usual. You slammed the paper down on James’ table, careful enough to not disturb Slughorn, who was busy in his cabinet.
“This-This-”I’m scary?” You said, mouth in a grin. His eyes widened as they switched between the paper and your face multiple times.
“What?” He tried but you let a small chuckle slip. You took a step around the table, closer than needed. James fell back onto his chair, faces inches apart.
“Do I scare you, James?” His lips formed into a grin and he put his hand on the table, to steady himself, you guessed.
“You don’t scare me, Y/N.” You crossed your arms and now smiled at him, your braids fell over your shoulders, almost hitting the boy in front of you in the face as you bent down a tad. Your lips hovered over his ear, his neck tensed
“Then why’s your heart beating so fast?” He hung his head as a chuckle left his form, he placed his hands on his thighs before looking at you again.
“Cause you’re kinda cute.” You threw your head back as a giggle, barely audible, escaped you. Your hand found his chin, lifting his face.
“Right back at ‘ya.” He smiled and gave you another smile.
“And since we’re already here, you might want to cross that, Diana’s much smarter than she lets on.” He nods and takes the pen Remus holds out for him.
With a hand to his forehead he smiles at you, a pinkish tint on his apple cheeks.
“Yes ma’am.”

Poly!Marauders x Slytherin!Reader
part one two three five
One time at dinner became two, became three, became…now this is the norm? As you made your way to the Great Hall for yet another dinner with the boys you passed Lucius, who sneered at you.
“What a waste of a Slytherin, hanging around those idiots.” He commented, and Narcissa hit him.
Before she could make a comment in return (to possibly spare your feelings) Sirius appeared from the hall in front of you. “Lucy bothering you, dolly?” He joked, half serious.
“We were just leaving.” Narcissa promised, and dragged Lucius away before anymore bad blood could be thrown.
With that, Sirius grabbed your hand and guided you down to the Great Hall where Remus and James awaited.
“There she is!” James proclaimed, bringing a smile to your face.
“Hello, dove.” Remus tilted his head slightly in admiration.
You sat across from them and next to Sirius, who sat next to Lily.
“Hey!” She waved at you. “Are you coming to the party tonight?”
You turned to the boys in question, and Sirius answered. “We were just about to invite you, actually.”
You reminisced on the last time you dare drink with Gryffindors and you shuddered. “I’m in, but I’m not taking shots with James again.”
James faked a sad face, blinking puppy eyes at you, while Remus just rolled his eyes and shook his head.
“We’ll see about that,” Sirius commented. “Jamie can be pretty convincing after a few drinks.”
You joked and conversed with the boys and the other Gryffindors at the table for a while, and eventually as the lights grew dim you decided to part ways so you could change out of your uniform and into proper party attire.
At the Slytherin common room, you sprinted to your dorm to get ready. You perfected your make up and put up your hair in a way that hopefully said ‘trying, but not too hard’. You couldn’t help but frown at Lucius and Snape when you entered the common room again. Without Narcissa, they were like wild beasts.
“What’re you all dressed up for?” Snape pried, sitting up from his seat on the couch. This perked Lucius’ attention as well.
“Party.” You replied, uninterested.
“With those buffoons? You know they’re just pranking you, right? Tell me you aren’t that daft and think they’re actually crushing on you the way you are them.” Lucius looked you up and down with judgment, and a raised eyebrow.
That couldn’t be true…right? They liked you. However, you were the most gullible out of your housemates. And Slytherin was the rival house. And you weren’t Regulus, who did have the protection of his brother.
You were friends with Regulus, that had to count for some, right?
You shook your head at Lucius. “They wouldn’t do that.”
“They wouldn’t pull a prank on you? Nothing’s stopped them from pulling pranks on me.” Snape instigated.
You scoffed. “Because it’s horrific being around you, Sna-Severus.” You had to stop yourself. Were you seriously about to last-name him?
He noticed, and got up to stand close to you. “You’re turning into one of them, and you don’t even realize it’s going to backfire on you.”
He spit on your shoes. “Pathetic.”
You grabbed your wand from your pocket, as did Severus, about to do god knows what when your head snapped at the sound of a “HEY!” coming from the entrance to the boy’s dorm.
Regulus rushed to be in between you two, giving Severus the stink eye as he pushed him away.
“What’s going on?” He looked between the two of you.
Your eyes started to water, and Severus smirked at the sight that he’d gotten under your skin.
“Ask the traitor.”
The words struck you, and with big tears about to bubble you darted from the common room, Regulus hot on your tail.
“Hey, hey!” Regulus grabbed your shoulder, catching up to you. “What’s going on?”
You shook your head negatively and sniffled. “It’s not worth it.”
Regulus looked you up and down sympathetically and then looked behind you.
“Okay,” he said. “Let’s get you to the Gryffindor common room before Filch catches us. We can take the long way so you can take a few minutes.”
You nodded, and let Regulus guide you. Were you a traitor? Were the boys really pranking you?
Fire of anger started to fill you, unbeknownst to Regulus, and you decided you were going to drink your heart away and give James Potter, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin a piece of your mind.

Alright chat, here's a list of fun facts/headcanons for my Marauders era au (out of context)
The concept of songbirds has done irreversible damage to Sirius' mental health
Sirius was painfully aware of the fact he was put in the wrong Hogwarts house, while Regulus was (for once) oblivious to the fact he was put in the wrong one
James is deathly afraid of clowns and anything clown adjacent
It takes Remus about 30 seconds to decide if he likes you
Peter can cry on demand, but the fact he cries pretty easily already makes this skill useless
Sirius loves clowns and anything clown adjacent
While Marlene is 3rd in student rankings, she can't brew a potion correctly if her life depended on it
Despite her calm demeanor, Dorcas is a holiday fiend and will find any reason to go all out
Pandora has managed to trick most of the Hogwarts population into thinking she's a seer. She's not, just really observant
Rosekiller started flirting with Peter as an on the wim joke, and fell in love on an even bigger wim
It takes a 2 minute conversation with Pandora for Lily to fall in love
Peter is scarily into horror movies
Sirius is an intense gingerbread fan
James has a habit of getting weirdly poetic with his speech, but only in short bursts
James is the 'eyes always closed anime character' of Hogwarts. Sirius didn't actually know what his eye color was until 3rd year. He gets this from his father
Sirius gets incredibly defensive of his family, but will deny it like his life depends on it
Partial albinism is a Black family trait, most just choose to hide it. Narcissa and Regulus are the only ones who don't
James was the only marauder with a regular (posh) British accent until like 2nd year. He still somehow managed to understand them perfectly fine
Marlene needs glasses but would actually rather die than wear them
Sirius is left-handed, Snape is too and they both hate it because of that
Lily was a horse girl
Sirius is autistic, Snape is too and they both hate it because of that
Peter bakes and Sirius cooks
Remus manages to burn water and James isn't allowed into kitchens. Not because he's bad at cooking, he's actually really good, he just gets really controlling
James is Indian, Mexican, and Chinese
Sirius would die to be taller, but (simultaneously) finds he and Remus' height difference hot
It takes Remus 4 years to fully realize how much taller he is to everyone else
Peter love gardening
Sirius has really neat handwriting, like every essay he writes is in beautiful cursive and he hates it
Snape's favorite color is pastel pink
Snape and Sirius' friendship starts right after a fistfight in a potions classroom
It takes everyone else 6 months to find out about said friendship
When his concealing charm isn't on, Sirius' partial albinism covers the whole left side of his body. He has the most "coverage" in the entire family
James always cries during the dramatic kiss scenes in romance movies
He's also the 'eyes always closed anime character' of Hogwarts. Sirius doesn't know what his eye color is until 5th year
Remus was under the impression he was bi for the longest time because he only ever had crushes on fem/androgynous guys. It took until 6th year for him to realize that didn't count because they were all still guys none the less
James thought everyone didn't see gender when it came to crushes until around 3rd year
This will almost definitely have a part 2, but this is what's on my brain at the moment.

What do you think about Severus's "obsession" with Lily that Snaters always use as an argument? It's so frustrating that they're constantly portraying him as a creepy stalker or an incel
People will make up any nonsense to hate on Severus, and if that nonsense paints him as a sexual deviant, even better, because it gives them the perfect excuse to stick to their prejudices and outright condemn him. But the reality is that Severus was neither an incel nor a stalker, and that’s what I’m going to make clear from the start, because I’m done with terms and behaviors being twisted for convenience and confusing fiction with reality.
First, Severus never, ever, confessed his feelings to Lily. In fact, it’s Rowling who confirms he was in love with her; within the books, romantic love is never explicitly mentioned. What we see is that they were friends since childhood and that Severus clearly had a deep attachment to Lily. But that attachment can easily be explained by the fact that Severus was a child from a terribly violent and dysfunctional environment, who was alone, and Lily was probably the first person to treat him kindly and offer him affection. That, for a child with severe emotional neglect, creates an immense emotional attachment to the person who finally provides some comfort and love. And that’s not the behavior of someone who is sexually unwell; it’s completely normal behavior for people with avoidant or disorganized attachment styles due to family dynamics. You could even interpret it as something purely platonic, but it’s clear that Rowling had a different idea, so we accept it if she wants (or wanted) it to be romantic.
Fine, starting from there, the reality is—as I’ve said—that he never confesses, never puts her on the spot to go out with him, never tells her he’ll hurt someone if she doesn’t date him (cough unlike James Potter cough cough), and when Lily cuts ties with him, he accepts it, and apparently, they never speak again. Severus doesn’t become bitter towards women because of that. He doesn’t specifically hate women because his best friend/crush told him to get lost. First, because she didn’t reject him romantically—Lily ended their friendship due to political differences, not emotional ones—so the incel narrative of being rejected by women doesn’t apply, as this wasn’t an emotional or sexual rejection. Second, because Severus does not hate women. In fact, throughout the series, we see him interact much better with girls than with boys. Yes, he’s harsh with Hermione, but his treatment of her, despite everything (despite everything, I repeat), is much softer than his treatment of Harry, Neville, or Ron. He has a cordial relationship with McGonagall, and we can infer he had a rather close relationship with Narcissa from the scene in HBP where she even seems to know how to easily find his house, and from the way they speak to each other.
There is no evidence that Severus harbored anything specifically against women, either before or after Lily. This image created in fanfiction to make him the absolute villain is absurd because it contradicts canon. In the canon, we see Severus constantly triggered and having direct, very violent confrontations with various male characters—it’s not the same with female ones. Severus’s abusers throughout his life have always been men (his father, James, Sirius...), and not just any men, but men who represented hegemonic, toxic masculinity. It’s with them that he has active conflicts, not women. The incel theory falls apart on its own.
Now onto the stalking. When? I mean, Severus and Lily were friends who spent time together not because he followed her around, but because they had a friendship dating back to before Hogwarts, and to top it off, they lived near each other. Let’s go back to the fact that Lily tells him to get lost, and Severus leaves. He doesn’t insist. He doesn’t pressure her. He accepts her words and leaves. The scene where he goes to the Potters’ house after Voldemort’s attack is something that happens in the movies, not in the book canon. As far as we know, he wasn’t even aware that the prophecy would involve Lily until Voldemort chose the Potters as his targets. So we can assume Severus wasn’t stewing over Lily all those years—he was busy with his own messes, not chasing her everywhere. That’s not the behavior of a stalker, and I’m sorry, but caring about someone who was basically the most important person in your life during your childhood and teenage years and not wanting them to be killed—even if it’s been years since you spoke—isn’t obsessive; it’s just being human.
I mean, think about a friend you had in school or university with whom you shared some of your best moments, and then suddenly, years after losing touch, someone is going to kill them. Would your logical reaction really not be to try and do something? It’s crazy to say that’s weird or out of place.
Lastly, let’s address the “obsession.” I don’t know if the problem is that the people who repeat this mantra have never lost someone violently and don’t understand grief and trauma or what, but I’ve lost several people in my life, and to this day, many years later, every time something reminds me of them, I cry, or my mood just plummets. Because the wounds of loss don’t heal; you learn to live with them, but they don’t close. Anyone who has experienced that kind of loss—that sudden, premature loss—knows it. Severus isn’t obsessed with Lily. Severus feels guilty for having played a part in Lily’s death, and he feels terribly guilty.
What drives him isn’t obsessive love; it’s guilt, it’s grief. It’s knowing that maybe, if he hadn’t overheard the prophecy, she’d still be alive. It’s not having been able to stop the attack. Imagine someone you love deeply dies, and you think it’s your fault, or you think you could have prevented it. Are you seriously going to tell me that wouldn’t haunt you for the rest of your life? Because I don’t know if I’d be able to live with it. I think people don’t understand that what motivates Severus is the need to settle the debt he feels he owes Lily, to atone for his sins and make up for the damage he caused—not an unhealthy romantic obsession. It’s his way of dealing with grief and guilt, and honestly, if people don’t get that, they should talk to a therapist to learn a thing or two about trauma and loss because they need some advices very hard.

If Severus had been a girl, her story would have been mostly the same as canon, except that the Marauders maybe wouldn't have been so harsh with their bullying because "she wasn't a threat to James' crush on Lily" and "she's just a girl, girls are fragile". However, she would have still been in love with her and James knew that, so he still despised her, thinking she was holding Lily back from him.
Now unto my personal headcanons (because they fit and they make me happy):
- Fem! Severus wouldn't have shared a room with Mulciber and Avery, so she would have befriended her female roommates instead. I believe the fanaticism for the Death Eaters cult was more prominent in boys than girls, because society expected them to stay at home and raise more purebloods than participate in battles. However, she would've still hung out with them because they shared the same interest for Dark Arts.
-Her roommates would be Dorcas Meadow, Pandora Rosier (Evan Rosier's cousin) and Theresa Flint (the last one is an oc of mine)
- She would be a tomboy for the first few years, having her hair cut short and wear the male uniform instead of the female one. Partly because she's used to wearing boy clothes and partly to avoid embarrassing pranks from the Marauders. Due to this, she's often mistaken for a boy and fits in better with her male classmates.
- She knows wizards are more respected that witches, so she strives to imitate a masculine appearance to earn that (at first). It's not a case of "I'm not like other girls". She wants to survive.
- She's been infatuated with Lily since they met, but this crush wears off as Snape sees Lily's selfishness and hypocrisy. By the time their friendship is over, Snape is already disillusioned with her but still tries to hold into their old bond out of emotional attachment rather than love.
- She faced her own prejudice and hardships in Slytherin for being a poor half-blood, with a disgraced pureblood mother. She only earned her place when she showed off her talent and bested a few of her housemates. Basically, she had to win fights, physical and magical, against her own housemates until they deemed she deserved to be in Slytherin.
-In canon, Lucius took Snape under his wing and treated him like a brother in Hogwarts. In this, it's Narcissa who sees the potential in Snape and practically adopts her, and Lucius follows her example. Thanks to the older girl, Snape experiences nice clothes and good school tools for the first time. Narcissa is quite her sugar mommyl, but Snape is also her pet project.
- She's a bit of "one of the boys", although they're not really friends until fourth year. The boys were Mulciber, Avery, Wilkes and Rosier. They accepted her because they didn't really consider her a girl and they begrudgingly respected her skills. It was a mutual understanding that they used each other for their own benefits, Snape helping them with her intellect and spells while they helped her into getting assimilated with the other Slytherins. As they grew and got to know Snape beyond her blood status, they became protective of her and started to cherish her truly as a friend (althought Rosier took it to another level)
-Which brings us to my next headcanon. In my au, Rosier and Snape had a nice connection on first year when they sat together during History of Magic. He's one of the few that was welcoming of Snape since the start and always treated her like an equal. She's very fond of him because of it, and they grow to be very close friends.
-Regulus still looked up to her when they were students. He didn't trust her at first, because of her blood status and all, but seeing she had Narcissa's favour, he decided to look past it. And after witnessing her talent, he decided he wanted to learn more about her, so he began to follow her around to know her better. Snape was annoyed initially, but she eventually appreciated his company.
-She showed some genuine kindness to Barty Crouch Jr on his first year at Hogwarts, and the boy latched unto her like an eager puppy since then. That's how he befriended Regulus, with both of them following her around so often.
-They were both her little brothers, her precious babies, who couldn't do nothing wrong even if they tried. She was patient and permissive with them in a way she definitely wasn't with her other friends.
-She's the brain of the group, so she's usually saving their asses from the consequences of their actions (Mulciber, Avery and Wilkers) and helping them with their schemes (Dorcas, Rosier and Narcissa).
-In her desire to remain in Lily's life and have the girl's love, Snape repressed herself and kept her Slytherin friends at arms' length, which caused many arguments. When she and Lily had that fallout, Snape fully embraced her identity and, in return, her housemates embraced her too, as if they had been waiting for her.
-She was a natural Occlumens, unconsciously developing her ability while she learnt to mask her feelings and thoughts, product of the abuse and harassment she went throught.
-Her boggart used to be her father, Tobias Snape, but after "the prank", it became a werewolf instead.
-After what happened in the Shrieking Sack, she inmersed herself in researchs about lycanthropy and possible cures in order to forget her fear.
-When she experimented with potions, she tried them first on small animals, mostly rats and birds. Then bigger animals, like owls and cats. And lately, in the final phase of testing, she tried them on herself. Only her friends knew about this practise, since Snape made them promise to not tell a soul, since she didn't trust the Hogwarts staff to be understanding about it.
-When something goes wrong on the final test, she heals in the privacy of her bed while her friends take care of her, lying to the teachers that she's sick. They dread this practise of hers, since they can't stand seeing her in pain, but also had mad respect for her because of it.
-She was a control freak, obsessively cleaning and arranging her stuff with systems only she understands. She always knew when someone touched her things, just by seeing them moved the slighest bit to the different position she left them. Her housemates knew better than disrupt her order.
-Her talent with potions surpassed even Slughorn himself, but he preferred to praise Lily because her looks and attitude fit more in his club. He came to regret that decision years later, but Snape knows how to keep grudges.
-She considered Mulciber, Avery, Dorcas, Pandora, Rosier, Regulus and Barty her closest friends within Slytherin. The rest were just acquaintances. She was also close to Aurora Sinistra, from Ravenclaw, and Charity Burbage, from Hufflepuff.
-She and Charity danced around the lines separating friendship from romance for a while, but Snape wasn't ready for that step and Charity moved on. They remained good friends.
-She was a raging bisexual, because obviously.
-She didn't support the Death Eaters' beliefs, but she really looked up to the figure of Lord Voldemort. A poor half-blood like her, who paved his way to the top of the hierarchy with his charms, wit and power, making all the pureblood families submit to him. He was everything she aspired to be, everything she wanted to have. However, she soon realized her vision didn't exactly match reality...
And that's all. I have more but I wrote too much already. I'm on a hyperfixation, so I'll definitely write more about her in the future.
Feel free to tell me your own ideas or headcanons. I'll love to discuss them.
Tagging @love-the-purple-cat because she's also a fem! Snape stan. She has an amazing au, so go and check her!

Got a new regulily idea for my fav ppl 😍
After her friends start urging her to think about more than school, Lily has been focusing more on her personal life and considering starting to date, which had never really been at the forefront of her mind before. She's slowly warming up to the idea of talking to James more because he may be annoying and arrogant but she can tell he's clever and she's attracted to intelligence over anything else. Then it all changes, she's been thinking about maybe asking if he wants to go out with her but then Snape's worst memory happens. Then James shows that he's still immature and rude, in front of a crowd he declares that he'd only stop physically hurting her best friend if she goes out with him and she's smacked in the face with disgust and regret for ever considering him an option. Then said best friend turns on her and she feels the last bit of strength in her snap. She hides herself away from both of them to make a point, as we know Mary helps her do it.
The anger build up and up and up until she snaps and decides she's going to be a little rebel for once, she wants to date someone to take him off her mind and show him that he needs to back off and respect her or she'll never look at him twice. Someone James hates. While it would have been the best choice, she can't go for Severus because she refuses to talk to him anymore. The wound is still too fresh. She sits and scans the great hall, specifically the Slytherin table, for days looking for somebody that not only James hates, but she finds interesting enough. She even considers Barty for a while until she sees Regulus and just thinks 'you'
It's perfect. James and Sirius would hate it, he's clever, and she's seen him around people Severus used to know so it would probably sting him too. Is she using him a little? Yeah, but his family are crazy and he's probably a bit evil so he deserves it. She doesn't expect him to actually say yes.
Until, after a few days of thinking about it and considering the negative political and social impacts of it, he does. Because fuck it, he's the favourite and the last change, he's allowed to rebel a little bit, surely. Narcissa did it and she's fine. Besides, he's been berating himself and repressing his little crush on Lily for ages, let him indulge a little.
So they do. And people go crazy. Expecially James. They slowly realise that the other is actually way more interesting than they look at first glance.

Why I enjoy the Ships I put Severus in / ships featuring Severus from fanfics that I've read and enjoyed.
Lily X Sev (Snilly): I absolutely adored it when it's done right. Especially when it's from Lily's point of view since she rarely gets expanded on in the canon as fell as in the fandom. I also really love it when it has some elements of queerness. I've read fics where 1. Sev is a girl who still loves Lily; 2. Lily or Sev has some queer feeling about their gender and/or sexuality (either are portrayed as gender-nonconforming/non binary and/or bisexual/ace spectrum) or 3. They genuinely having feeling for each other and just not working out. These elements that I can find in some Snilly Fanfics are absolutely divine, I feel like these fics aren't afraid to look at the reality of queerness in the 1970s, and the complexity of their relationship to one another.
Sirius X Severus (Snirius, Snack, HoundPrince?): there's fics tend to be toxic, sometimes even violent, which isnt everyones cup of tea and I myself have to be in the right mood for it, but I enjoy seeing how these two man mirror each other and also bring out the worst in each other. I, with all my heart, believe that Sirius sees his mom in Severus and Severus sees his dad in Sirius, and it drives them both crazy because neither of them wanted to end up like their parents but cant stop themselves from seeking out what is familiar to them. I also like how a lot of Snack fics explore their experiences with abuse, their lives seem so different yet also similar. There are also some fics where they actually grow to understand one another and start a healthy relationship too, but I don't think they're as prominent as the more toxic versions. I still very much ship them, though!
James X Severus (Jeverus, PrinceChaser): can be just as toxic as SevXSirius but there are more wholesome fics out there of them. I have a love /hate relationship with this particular ship. Like, I like fics where James unknowingly had a crush on Sev the whole time and tries to win him over, but I always end up rooting for Sev to reject him and make him realize his actions have consequences. I've also stopping shipping it as much because of Snape's Worst Memory. I only returned to the fandom this year, before that I was still a high schooler obsessed with shipping, and now that I've matured I see SWM in a new light and can't stand fics between James and Sev when they take place after SWM. There's still plenty of good fics of these two, but I'm not as into the pairing as I use to be. Also James Stan's are really annoying and if I look for content featuring James, I inevitably run into them, so that kind of hinders my enjoyment of the ship.
Remus X Severus (Snupin, MoonPrince? WolfPrince?): again, I have a love hate relationship with this ship. I love how theyre both considered quite, introverted, and nerdy. They also have similar social standing: Remus is a halfblood whose life in constantly in shambles, who finally finds a place where he feels excepted with people who don't hate him for his condition, who then has to sit back and be quite when his friends act up because he's too scared of loosing what he has. Severus was in a similar boat to Remus, except he probably didn't have genuine friendship with the people he spent time with. This is a pretty interesting dynamic to explore, but I can't always enjoy the ship, especially in fics where the impact of Remus' non-action is handwaved. I don't know about you guys, but having a partner who doesn't acknowledge the ways they may have hurt you, even if it's only through inaction, is not a green flag for a partner.
Licius X Narcissa X Severus
I'm just gonna combine the LuciusXSev, NarcissaXSev, & LuciusXNarcissaXSeverus ships into on section, I don't read enough of this ship to have any really strong opinions, but I absolutely adored it when it's platonic. I just love the idea of Narcissa & Lucius acting as Severus' big siblings / parental figures, lord knows he needs people like that in his life. I also don't mind when this ship is more romantic/sexual, but I'm really picky when it comes to those depictions because if Sev is gonna be their third, they gotta treat him right.
Mulciber X Sev:
I adore this ship, it wasn't around when I was first in the fandom but I like how much Bruce is portrayed as a guy who actually loves Severus from the beginning. They very rarely any animosity between the two, which make it easy to consume fluff fics with them because I can buy into the fluff very easily. (Ps. I love it when Bruce calls Sev 'Potions' it's such a jock thing to do, and is also a unique term of endearment.)
Xenophilius Lovegood X Sev:
This stems purely from TikTok and the handful of fics I could find of this pair. Idk where it came from but I love the idea of Luna's oddball dad having a strange relationship with Severus. We've all see that post where the HP characters are matched up with characters from the first war (Harry-James, Ron-Sirius, Remus-Hermione, Neville-Peter, Ginny-Lily, Luna-Severus) and I fully believe that Luna does partially mirror Sev, what with them both being outcasts. Xenophillius, as we saw, also had some strange ideas and had his head in the sky, which I think would clash with Severus personality at first, until Sev eventually learns to tolerate Xenophilius. This ship is pure Crack and I am an addicted for it.
Kingsley Shacklebolt X Severus:
I have no idea why I like this ship, I'm not even a big Kingsley enjoyed but the fanfics are so good. There's one where they get into an arranged marriage and Kingsley is such a good husband!!
Fic is called Come What May by ShadowAceSeverus https://archiveofourown.org/works/48388618
It's what got me addicted to this ship.

Hi for ships, if you don’t mine what do you think of Snape/Narcissa/Lucius and also Snape with each of them individually?
thank you very much for the ask, anon!
lucius malfoy/severus snape
i've answered this one here.
narcissa malfoy/severus snape
i sincerely, sincerely believe that this is implied by canon - not only because the unbreakable vow scene is so intimate but because it's so sensual, but also because narcissa is the only plausible candidate for voldemort to be speaking about in his final confrontation with harry, in response to harry bringing up that snape loved his mother:
He desired her, that was all, but when she had gone, he agreed that there were other women, and of purer blood, worthier than him.
there is, i think, no universe in which snape and voldemort are sitting down for a little casual chat about girls, and there's also no universe in which voldemort would care about snape having a crush on any random woman, pureblood or not. but, if voldemort suspected that snape had a thing - whether or not that thing was requited and/or consummated - with narcissa, then he finds himself able to humiliate snape, narcissa, lucius, draco, bellatrix, and the memory of lily in one fell swoop, and it would - therefore - be information he would go out of his way to uncover.
[that voldemort is lying is, of course, the other potential here. but something that's very striking across the seven-book canon is that - since the narrative usually needs him to provide information to harry that either snape or dumbledore couldn't reveal without blowing their series-long arcs, he usually speaks the truth whenever he appears in person in the text.]
and i think, as with snucius, you have very interesting potential for narcissa to be one of the few people who sees and knows the "real" snape - there is the heavy implication in spinner's end that she recognises that snape is not blindly loyal to voldemort [in the way, for example, that bellatrix is], even if she doesn't doubt his commitment to the death eaters' cause. she evidently trusts and respects him. and she clearly values his wider relationship with her family.
i think you can do a lot with that, especially during the period in which lucius is in prison and narcissa probably needs a little hurt/comfort...
lucius malfoy/narcissa malfoy/severus snape
yes. they saw him across the slytherin table and they liked his vibe.

100% agree on the last post! James is the norm in terms of teenage boys in his society, unfortunately that is not speaking much of that society considering he’s blackmailing his crush through doing harm to her friend and pantsing people. Which is honestly the problem, that specific behavior isn’t seen as an issue it’s the other stuff he does (his arrogance is what’s mostly focused on by the other characters). Looking at violence and gender in that society and how it functions, I really don’t think James is transgressing any of these norms but falling right into them. Which again is the problem. His behavior is a product of the culture which shaped him, that’s not an excuse, but it is an explanation.
Exactly. Like on a scale from Woke Feminist King to Inbetweener, I think James would have been decent enough, average, like I said, maybe even a little bit better than average because of his sense of 'honour' or whatever lol. But not that much.
Also, I know people might not agree with this but I do think the WW is less misogynistic than the Muggle. I think this is logical in a society where magical ability is what primarily contributes to raw labour rather than physical strength. Not to get Marxism 101 on everyone but if we look at the origins of patriarchy as based in the Agricultural Revolution, the division of labour following the emergence of private property (men work in fields, women produce men to work fields, men accumulate resources) is somewhat lessened if everyone can use magic equally, and when women can defend themselves very effectively against becoming the resources that are accumulated.
I say somewhat because yes, women (cis women, I don't think we can expect neolithic farmers or Engels to be trans inclusive haha) are still the ones who can give birth. Obviously for this reason (and also because of influence from the Muggle world) the WW is still a patriarchy and misogyny does still exist, just slightly less acutely than in the real world, and women have an easier time advancing within it.
(((In pureblood society, because they value bloodlines and heirs, there is undoubtedly more misogyny. But we know from pottermore that pureblood supremacy is a relatively recent advent, certainly much more recent than the Agricultural Revolution and the emergence of private property haha. I can imagine that misogyny grew stronger alongside pureblood supremacy quite naturally. This is why Narcissa acts more as a handmaids tale esque wife to Lucius than Lily or Tonks or even Molly and Fleur, who are still housewives themselves.)))
I think there's evidence of women generally faring a bit better in the WW, such as female Ministers long, loooong before Muggle women even had the vote, and culturally I think this is reflected too:
Tumblr media
From the intro to Beedle the Bard, which goes on to talk about 'The Warlock's Hairy Heart' in which the female character does have a passive role, so it's not like this is unheard of, just a bit less common. In 'The Fountain of Fair Fortune,' the aforementioned Asha, Altheda, and Amata are all much more useful and powerful and active characters than Sir Luckless who basically just follows them around. (I actually really like that story, and 'Hairy Heart' is delightfully creepy. Probably my faves.) James would have grown up with these stories.
Anyway this got VERY off track but for for this reason too, I think James and the other Marauders would probably be a little bit better than their Muggle equivalents, but also not perfect. Just like Ron, to whom it's perfectly normal that Hermione would be top in everything and that Gwenog Jones ('THE Gwenog Jones') would be someone to idolise, but he also displays misogyny such as when he calls Hermione a 'scarlet woman' lol. As do others. (For contrast, ask an average teen boy in our world to name 3 female football players. Yeah.)
And yes maybe some of it is jkr's learnt misogyny leaking through too, from growing up in a patriarchy along with the rest of us (and let's be objective about this, she has been a victim of it too, very much so.) But personally I think the WW still being misogynistic but slightly better than irl actually ends up being realistically relatable while also providing a level of escapism and aspiration for young girls. It doesn't feel that inconsistent to me but idk. Hermione easily outstripping her male peers in intelligence and talent, Ginny and other female Quidditch players being on the level of men and often better, and this just being accepted, was inspiring for me, anyway.

hcs that the marauders & the valkyries & the slytherin skittles are all best friends and also gay as hell.
james is the first of the marauders to come out, he's pansexual
his first crush is on lily, who he loudly proclaims his love to. she immediately turns him down on the grounds of 1) being lesbian and 2) being 11 and they become best friends instead
meanwhile in the skittles they sort of all come out at the same time. like they all become friends and then are like hey wait we're all gay
dorcas is lesbian, regulus is gay, pandora is pansexual, barty and evan are both bi & evan is ace
meanwhile, marlene is lesbian, mary and remus are bi, peter is aroace, and sirius cannot be bothered to label himself past "moony is pretty and girls occasionally are too"
eventually the groups begin to mingle both through quidditch and various crushes
aka marlene sees dorcas looking bored out of her mind while watching a gryffindor v slytherin quidditch match and falls in love
(she then gets hit in the face with a bludger and is in the hospital wing for a week)
eventually lily also starts crushing on pandora and james starts crushing on regulus
lily and pandora get together first because they, unlike their friends, are normal about having feelings
eventually mary also starts dating them because hell yeah polyamory
they go on cute dates in hogsmeade and spy on their friends :)
james and regulus get together next, everyone knows james loves very loudly and with all that sunshine focused on him, there was no way reg could last
james, lily, and mary are fed up with marlene pining after dorcas and they get regulus and pandora to help them set the girls up
(as it turns out, dorcas is confident until she's faced with a pretty girl with no boundaries)
of course there's also wolfstar and rosekiller
rosekiller has probably been together this whole time (nobody knows when they started dating, including them) but remus and sirius are painfully oblivious so they don't get together until 7th year and then they seem to be kissing 24/7
("ew," james said, looking up from where he was cuddling regulus in the middle of the great hall)
oh yeah and there's no voldemort in this universe. the only angst comes from the occasional black family nonsense
i just realized i haven't mentioned alice and frank yet so here they are:
they're a few years older than the marauders/valkyries/skittles
james totally had a crush on frank and lily had a crush on alice (another thing they bonded over)
regulus and alice are best friends because alice and narcissa are dating
bellatrix is still kind of insane but in a fun way (idk how to write her as a sane person 💀)
andromeda is the big sister of the skittles, and once the skittles start hanging out with the gryffindors, she becomes their big sister too
walburga and orion still suck. there is just far less angst regarding them.
sirius still runs away first because he and regulus don't get along super well yet. not so much because of houses or family, though those are contributors, but also because they're just very different people. regulus ends up moving in with narcissa and alice and is living his best life
they all go off into the world as best friends and do not die young or in pain or scared and instead live fun lives with each other in a peaceful world, as they were supposed to :)
i will probably write this, at the very least some oneshots for it because AAAA

Even more marauders era headcanons/fun facts from my au for them (some are really out of context)
There are 4 small clown dolls in the Gryffindor common room that are moved around daily solely to scare James
Remus had a buzz cut in 1st year and will pretend he doesn't know what your talking about if you bring it up
Regulus never really came out about being trans, he just kinda showed up one year as a boy and everyone was too scared of the Black family to question it
This then led to rumors that Regulus pre-transition was a different family member who was kicked out
That led to Sirius (somehow) managing to convince the entire Hogwarts population that Regulus was always there, and that his younger sister was a mass hallucination/Mandela effect
Every 'conversation' between Peter and Remus makes it seem like they don't even like each other, they're each other's favorites
James and Remus can't sit through horror movies without at least a little tears of fear
James is a childhood friend to like a fourth of Hogwarts
Barty never pulls a prank that is completely safe, a chance of death is essential
Concealing charms don't work on animingus forms, so Sirius had to come up with a bullshit excuse as to why his dog form is half white
Peter and Remus were cheerleaders in 3rd year after James and Sirius dared them to. This dare only happened bc they refused to play quidditch
Dorcas managed to hide her and Marlene's relationship for 8 months, solely bc of how unobservant her friends are
Mary was a theater kid and will cry if you bring it up
Sirius knew about jegulus before they even got together, but it took them months to actually tell him bc Sirius had a habit of pretending he was bothered by the idea and they thought he was being genuine
Narcissa has star based nicknames for everyone in her family
Sirius took up calling Narcissa Polaris so she wouldn't feel left out bc she's the only one without a star name
No one actually knows why Narcissa wasn't given a star name, not even the rest of the Black family
Barty likes to pretend the fact that both of his 'crushes' (Evan being his boyfriend) being blonde with blue eyes says nothing about his type
Peter can't tell the difference between when someone is genuinely flirting with him or making fun of him, rosekiller's aggressive flirting doesn't help
Sirius is weirdly into origami
Lucius and Narcissa treat Snape like their practice child
Marlene and James 'dated' when they were like 6 bc they thought it meant they got their family's money quicker
Sirius has a sweet tooth, Snape does too and they both hate it because of that
James is, surprisingly, more of an introvert than a extrovert
Sirius knows he's actually a Slytherin and won't wear green because he thinks it'll make it obvious to everyone else, it wouldn't
It's extra devastating because green is definitely his color
Regulus was supposed to be a Gryffindor and everyone can tell
Like he acts like every other Slytherin, he just has a vibe about him
Snape gossips with almost every professor and painting at Hogwarts
There's an incident board in the infirmary dedicated to the marauders
Lily keeps a small bag of cat treats for the strays at Hogwarts
Remus is allergic to pinecones
Peter is Russian and grew up there, but he can't stand the cold
Once again, that is it for now. These are fun to make so there will be more, but alas, I bid my farewells (for now)
Part 1
