Anon: Can I have headcanons about a reader who is much older? I mean, she is older, smarter, wiser, stronger although she looks young for her age. During her long life, she has experienced a lot of terrible things and therefore cannot tolerate injustice. She is not a hero who wants to change the world, but she will not offend the weak. She has such a specific aura of a mother that you involuntarily go to her for advice (and she gives it) When the character talks about his age, she just smiles and thinks, “he’s still just a child.” Featuring Chrollo, Shalnark, Dazai, Deidara, Kurapika, Pouf, Gojo
This is to be read in a platonic context.
Tw: Yandere themes, possessive behavior, obsession, delusional mindset, clinginess, isolation
Tags: @swagenemyartisan @cachamata @jamayah @chxxz @leveyani @hyakki-yosai @shenryu-sama @maggiequinn59 @shumidehiro @izanami78
You're still just a child
Deidara
💥Deidara truly is a walking talking contradiction. On the one hand he often complains to you that he doesn't want to be treated like a child yet as soon as he is even slightly upset or offended by something or someone he comes running to you with a big pout on his face. Despite everything at heart he remains an attention-seeker after all who would hate to witness you paying attention to someone else. He is truly a breathing manchild though as his temper really reminds you of the bratty attitude of a child. It is so easy to make him jealous to the point where he has actually threatened to bomb the people who elicited such ugly emotions out of him only to be scolded and afterwards receiving the cold shoulder from you, something that causes him to actually tear up. As much as he complains about not wanting to be treated like a child, Deidara still insists for you to brush his hair and tie it in the morning whenever he stays the night. He's always without a fail complaining to you about Sasori and their constant arguments about what the true definition of art is, wanting you to take his side of the argument. On every special celebration possible he prepares a firework for you.
Kurapika Kurta
⛓️Kurapika is going to go into this a lot more skeptical. It's alright to have friends who are not part of his clan but going as far as to see someone as a mother is testing his loyalty to his clan as Kurapika is painfully aware that you aren't his biological parent. He often shies away from your attention and rejects your help as the feeling of betraying his own clan gnaws at his soul. Still he finds himself subconsciously seeking you out whenever he experiences an emotional tumult, already knowing deep down that you can soothe his overflowing rage. He starts getting quite selfish the more he gets attached to you as he attempts to isolate you more from others. After all it is not uncommon for people to admire you for your strength and your youthful looks despite your age and such people always put him on edge. You are by all means far from naive yet his distrust often outweights his rationality. You never fail to notice his brooding emotions and always put a calming hand on his shoulder, emotionally and literally holding him back. You have never attempted to take the morally high ground when you found out about his desire for revenge, never belittled him and it allows him to express his pain freely to you.
Chrollo Lucilfer
📖Intrigue is always the emotion that will serve as the bait to gain Chrollo's attention and it truly is no different in this scenario. You see, Chrollo has always been rather sophisticated with a unique philosophy and he loves having long discussions with you about humanity and all their rights and wrongs. You're neither driven by revenge nor are you someone who sees herself as a hero who has to stop him. Instead you listen to him with that gentle look on your face and it only serves as fuel to Chrollo's curiosity as he rarely witnesses such composure. However, he is not quite sure how he should feel about the way you view him as still a child. Sure, you may be older than him but throughout his life Chrollo has learnt that even adults reverted back to crying babies when he confronted them and promised them death. The concept of a mother is something neither he nor any of the other members of the Phantom Troupe have experienced, the strange warmth within his heart a sensation so unfamiliar that it feels alien. Still, he supposes that it's quite nice. I feel like in this specific dynamic he would actually refrain from stealing your Nen-ability simply because he genuinely respects you.
Shalnark
📱Usually his sweet smiles are very deceiving but they are always genuine whenever he visits you. Whilst Shalnark harbored some distrust against you during the beginning as years of being a thief and criminal have given him direct exposure to the ugliness of humans he has learnt to realise that you aren't like common people. You have had your own share of struggles and injustice and it is a topic he learns to bond over with you as well as learning to respect you for your physical and mental strength as a consequence of your past. Indeed, the two of you may appear like a mother and her sweet son spending time together yet there is always a sinister motive that lies hidden. Shalnark always pays you a visit after a successful mission the Phantom Troupe committed as it is a nice change of pacing. Initially he brings you souvenirs as a gift, most of them stolen objects from the robbery. It becomes quickly clear though that you do not appreciate such presents, especially if the blood of innocents sticks to them like invisible karma. If you should have difficulties regarding technology and electronical devices Shalnark is always there to help you and fix stuff for you.
Shaiapouf
🎻Shaiapouf gives you intense hatred after you pick him up from the palace where he almost died, blames your kind for the death of his beloved king and heavily blames himself for not having done more. You should have saved the king and not this unworthy and incapable servant. He only complies begrudgingly because you are stronger than he is and his animal genes accept the natural order of the food chain where you stand above him. Born to serve and born to help his majesty to receive greatness, perhaps it is this desperate wish that slowly leads him to push his ideals on you. He notices the spark of potential, starts clinging to the attention and care you give him as he receives a taste of what it must feel like to have a nurturing mother. Shaiapouf hatched already as an adult who knew of his purpose and already possessed great levels of intelligence yet the more love he receives the more he starts reminding you of a child. Still dedicated to serve and protect yet also constantly seeking approval and damning everyone who may even attempt to date you. It is somewhat endearing though, especially if he splits himself and you have multiple mini hims clinging to you.
Dazai Osamu
🤎You indeed ended up picking up a stray dog with several issues after stopping him from trying one of his many attempts to die. Dazai keeps up his initial antics as he asks you if you would like to join him, quickly shoot him down by revealing your age which elicits one of his theatrical reactions out of him. The truth is that Dazai never had loving parents and much less a mother who nurtured him and cared for him and even if he would have had one he doubts she would have been able to love him for the monster he used to be and partially still is. It is this inexperience that startles him when he receives tastes of it from you. It is a sensation akin to being submerged in scathing hot water, his mind torn apart between pain and a strange comfort that urges him to drown even deeper. What frightens him even more is your willingness to listen to him in order to understand him better, something he has never received before as most people have just learned to live with his antics and brush them off when he lets them out. Pain makes someone wiser and that applies perfectly to you and Dazai can't help himself but seek you out for advice, searches for the answer of what he was made for by seeking out you.
Gojo Satoru
🩵You've known Gojo since he entered Jujutsu High, actually decided to tutor him despite having retired after the world failed you. Partially you see yourself in this young boy and it is this urge to teach him to not repeat mistakes of the past that leads you to take him in, officially becoming his first teacher as he was only ever taught the basics by his own family. You seek out the boy underneath those blue eyes on a personal level no one has ever bothered to get to know him on. What makes Gojo Satoru Gojo Satoru? So used to being treated like a valuable weapon than someone's son it is almost sickening for a while for Satoru and even though he attempts to hide it beneath that careless grin you sense his distress and help him to work through it. After Suguru chose a path of hatred to walk on you are the only person Satoru still has left and on that day he breaks down in tears for the first time and clings to you like a weeping child in need of his mother's love and comfort. He completely turns his back on his biological parents, even coldly states to them one time that he only has one mother which is you. The only approval that matters is yours, the only attention he needs is yours.

Can I please request a yandere alphabet for Dabi from BNHA?
I can try, sure! I just hope I can write Dabi properly like I have in the past—
Yandere Alphabet - Dabi
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Manipulation, Possessive behavior, Marking/Branding, Blood, Violence, Rough affection, Trauma, Arson/Burning people, Murder, Unhealthy one-sided relationship, Sadism, Stalking, Kidnapping, Isolation, Forced relationship.
Affection: How do they show their love and affection? How intense would it get?
Dabi isn't the best when it comes to love and affection. He never really got it in his childhood and now, with a broken mental state, most likely doesn't have a healthy view on it. To him, loving his obsession may be the same as playing with a toy.
While not incapable of feelings, He certainly doesn't vent them well. His form of love is showing the power he has, of being rough and showing that you have no one but him. It's a mix between wanting you to recognize him and also him wanting to feel in control.
Which usually results in rough kissing, bruising holds, biting, and maybe even burning if it means he gets to keep you to himself.
Safe to say Dabi gets intense as he feels it gets the point across.
Blood: How messy are they willing to get when it comes to their darling?
Knowing Dabi, messy. He is fully willing to cause carnage towards innocents if it benefits him in some way. If someone was close to you, like family, friends, a lover...
They'll quickly be burned by Dabi if he feels they're in the way of him having you.
He might leave them alone if you distance yourself... but no promises.
Cruelty: How would they treat their darling once abducted? Would they mock them?
I can see Dabi mocking his obsession to see their reaction. You could be a hero, a civilian, maybe even a villain or something else entirely.... Dabi may just find enjoyment in messing with you.
In terms of how you'd be treated after being abducted... Dabi's "love" is rough. He likes to mark his obsession and break them down. He wants them to be his own personal toy and pet.
In a twisted way, he feels this gives him the attention he craves from you. Forcing it is the method he's found works best.
Darling: Aside from abduction, would they do anything against their darling’s will?
Definitely. Dabi is a yandere that enjoys control. He likes to manipulate you, scare you, and make you completely reliant on him.
He always gets a say on what you do.
Exposed: How much of their heart do they bare to their darling? How vulnerable are they when it comes to their darling?
Dabi isn't vulnerable. If he was, it's no doubt during a breakdown, and I feel he'd be more volatile than anything. He likes to feel in control with you.
But who knows, maybe he'll be soft if he's pushed enough. That's a big 'maybe' though.
Fight: How would they feel if their darling fought back?
Amused. For the most part he's just amused since he knows you're weaker than him. He'll toy with you, let you get it all out of your system.
Although, if you get too unruly, he'll remind you who you belong to.
Game: Is this a game to them? How much would they enjoy watching their darling try to escape?
Yes and he might enjoy it. Normally most yanderes find this distressing or annoying. Dabi, on the other hand, finds amusement in it.
Hell: What would be their darling’s worst experience with them?
When it comes to Dabi, there's a few options. But the worst one? Well, that's hard to pick. Dabi would burn people in front of you, he would burn you to brand you...
He tends to like using fire, so I wouldn't be surprised if one day he catches you trying to escape...
Then just decides to give you a burn scar or two to remind you that you're his.
Ideals: What kind of future do they have in mind for/with their darling?
I don't think he thinks much of the future in general. He prefers just focusing on what's going on in front of him. Currently that happens to be you being his.
Jealousy: Do they get jealous? Do they lash out or find a way to cope?
Yes and he definitely lashes out. He isn't really one to hide his anger even if he's usually aloof or stoic. One can always tell when he's in a mood.
Not much can quell his anger except you. Even then... You'll need to put in some work if you plan to have some innocents spared from his flames.
Kisses: How do they act around or with their darling?
Stoic, Aloof, Focused, Crude, Volatile, Manipulative, Possessive, Sadistic, Observing, Controlling... Honestly, it could just keep going on.
There's some small moments where he's merciful which is good.
Love letters: How would they go about courting or approaching their darling?
He doesn't court in the traditional sense. He probably gets curious, ends up stalking you, and even gets irritated he's so fixated on you. You're distracting... but enjoyable.
He could watch you for months, maybe even manufacture meetings to meet you. Although, after that he'll make his move.
Then you'll be all his, locked away, just for him to toy with.
Mask: Are their true colors drastically different from the way they act around everyone else?
Not really. He seems to "care" more but it isn't much different.
Naughty: How would they punish their darling?
Burning. He likes to give you burns to show you that you did something wrong by defying him. The alternative is him harming other people if they got on his nerves enough...
But it's all up to you and your behavior, right?
Oppression: How many rights would they take away from their darling?
Similar answer to D, all of them if it means he gets your attention.
Patience: How patient are they with their darling?
I imagine he has moderate patience. He can be patient, but he has a limit.
Quit: If their darling dies, leaves, or successfully escapes, would they ever be able to move on?
Depends on how attached. Although, I can see him snapping if someone took you away from him. The only way you're leaving him is with help.
He'll burn them before they get too close.
Regret: Would they ever feel guilty about abducting their darling? Would they ever let their darling go?
No and he definitely would not let you go.
Stigma: What brought about this side of them (childhood, curiosity, etc)?
Definitely his childhood trauma that decided to morph into a twisted desire for attention.
Tears: How do they feel about seeing their darling scream, cry, and/or isolate themselves?
He'll either mock you or leave you be. He isn't sure how to deal with this kind of thing properly.
Unique: Would they do anything different from the classic yandere?
He still technically cares about you, he just can't properly show it, which leads to your unhealthy relationship. This does not justify his decisions at all, of course.
Vice: What weakness can their darling exploit in order to escape?
I assume getting him distracted by a hero. But good luck with that.
Wit’s end: Would they ever hurt their darling?
Unfortunately, yes he would.
Xoanon: How much would they revere or worship their darling? To what length would they go to win their darling over?
Not a worship yandere, but since he likes to be controlling, he would go to great lengths to keep you in his grasp.
Yearn: How long do they pine after their darling before they snap?
Months I feel is accurate. Maybe closer to a year.
Zenith: Would they ever break their darling?
I wouldn't be surprised if he did.

Oh man I would l o v e to see your take on the #cain twins au, there's so many fun themes and scenarios to play with. The idea of Cass thinking she's Danny's black mirror, the dark side of the equation, but realizing there's more going on than previously seen. Danny viewing Cass' success and confidence as a fighter and a hero as something to aspire to, feeling insecure, not understanding her own insecurities and hesitations. Both being concerned about the other's living situations. Cass not being able to read Danny's body language because he has to be intentional about most of it and that skews results. Looking at your twin and thinking "that could have been me" - with regret? With relief? Who knows. Figuring out how to be siblings, if they want to be. Both having a severe need to save the people around them. Neither becoming what their parents wanted them to be. This is such a juicy concept 👀👀👀
It really is so fun; I think I definitely would want them to meet in a "neither of them knows what the other is doing" sort of way purely because it lets them sort of...strip out of the personas, you know? Cass thinks of herself as a Bat before she thinks of herself as a person, but seeing a human person she could have been...? Almost was? In a normal house, in a normal ("normal") town? Loved by two adoptive parents and a sister?
That would be terrifying for her, for a lot of reasons. Can he even protect himself? Does he understand how dangerous the world truly is? Does he have any inkling as to who created them— Cass, who should have been a monster, and Danny, who escaped by the skin of her teeth? Why doesn't he act like a person should? Why is he so nervous? What is he hiding?
Meanwhile, I 1000% percent think that Danny would be super careful and kind of protective of a sister who 1) has a somewhat visible trauma and is very quiet, 2) has admitted to having been raised in an unhappy environment, even if she likes her current placement with Bruce and occasionally Babs, 3) seems very cautious and careful with him, even though she tells him to his face that she's not scared of him. Why would he think she's not wary of him? He'd do a whole lot to be as reassuring as he could be, even if she did make him kind of nervous sometimes. But he's the dead one. She'll get to live what will hopefully be a long, stable life.
She looks at him a lot. Danny tries not to stare back.
I think there's a lot of fun in both of them thinking they're the worse version of the other :) and that could all happen before one slips up on the identity stuff.

Here are some "romance" tropes I feel would fit shigarakis love style if he were in a relationship or liked someone:
Grumpy and sunshine
Like actual grumpy/sunshine. Not bully x sunshine/sweet reader lol.
Idc what anyone says I firmly believe tomura would have a soft spot for his love interest. It would probably take a long time to build these sort of feelings, but once he does, he does his best to hide it
One: scared of ruining his reputation
Two: doesn't want any hero to use those feelings against him. This is a huge reason it takes him a while to admit any feelings to even himself, he doesn't one the one good thing he has, to disappear.
It kind of plays into the next one
Opposites attract
This isn't always the case of course. And in some aspects tomura would obviously want someone similar to him (hobbies, valuing alone time ((probably)), loyal, etc)
However
This sounds a bit cheesy lol but bare with me. You're like the one thing that keeps him afloat. He can't grow and mature if it's always raining (so to speak), so he needs "sunshine" to remind him that he has supporters. He needs someone to keep him in check and remind him of the things he has going for him when he can only see the cons of a situation.
The Wonderful thing about you, is that you don't just tolerate him, you actively want to see him succeed and want to help further his cause.
He'll fs act like your bubbly personality is inconvenient though, but if you have even a slight change in your attitude, he notices. And will ask you what's going on (in his own way lol. He's trying give him a break. If he didn't care he'd definitely just tell you to get over yourself)
Soul mates
Okay listen. Listennn. This may not sound very realistic at face value. But in a scenario in which you aren't affiliated with the league at all, he'd probably meet you out in public. Likely out to steal some new game or snack/drink he wanted (from a chain store ofc. If it's a chain it's free reign)
That said, he'd either see you on his walk there or in the actual store. Either way, he's burdened by some hero on their first job not knowing, well, how to do their job.
This hero in particular has some sort of "cupid"- like quirk.
Shigaraki, to his dismay, gets hit lol. No one could recognize him with a face mask and hoodie on though. But the first person he looked at was, you guessed it, you. You locked eyes with each other and he felt something he hadn't felt before. It made his stomach turn. He hated and loved it. Was it butterflies? Wasps?? Either way he feels like he just touched wet food in the sink but also wonders how he got so lucky to see eyes like yours- god, he hated being in public .
Tomura, after being hit, fell down from the force of what hit him. Literally fell for you. And you said something he'd never heard before. Something no one has ever really asked besides his mom
"are you okay?" And it's all down and uphill from there .
First love mixed with childhood friends trope
Last one, promise lol. Unless someone asks for a continuation.
I mention these two tropes mixed together, because honestly I see this as one of the most likely tropes. Tomura, as an adult has probably only a vague memory of you due to all the trauma. He blocked out quite a lot.
You were probably one of his closest friends. Granted, you two only knew each other for a brief time as you were both around 5 years old when the tragedy happened. You two probably met in elementary school if his parents sent him (elementary is not mandatory in Japan from what I read. They start first grade after they turn 6 is though). If it wasn't that, you two were likely neighbors or something. Regardless, you two were inseparable at the time.
As kids, you both had a pretty innocent view on how the world worked. Little you at one point may have even asked him why he scratches his face all the time. He'd say he doesn't know, but it feels worse when he's at home. Youre tiny little heart couldn't handle seeing the sad look on your friend's face. Almost immediately you took him to your bathroom and got the "tube with medicine stuffs" that your parents used when you got scratches to help itching or pain (which was probably calamine lotion or cortisone), and put some little bandaids on his face (he said the all might ones would make his father mad. That made you more sad, but you kept those feelings to yourself)
He'd even come back to your place when he felt itchy at home. One night though, you ran out of the topical treatment. You were both sad but went on about your time playing pretend and talking about whatever you two could think of. Time went by and he realized he wasnt itchy. Not with you. Never with you. From that moment forward he considered you his "bestest friend".
As an adult, he probably only memorized you from a feeling of loss, and missing something that he couldn't pinpoint why. This probably made him itch more. It wasn't until he had his transformation arc and his voice matured, that he realized what was making him itch so much. It was the loss of you. At least he doesn't itch anymore.
A/N: OP tries not the make themselves cry challenge (fails miserably). Anyways if there's any typos I apologize. It's 3 am and I wrote this out on a whim. Ikik I got too carried away writing, but oh well. Some of these I felt like writing a whole fic for tbh lol. That said, feel free to tell me what your favorite trope is and which one of these you loved the most:)

Hey there brook! I hope u having a nice day! Can I ask for a luffy x heroic fem reader headcanon? by heroic I mean that she completely dedicated her life to help and save ppl and that her purpose in life, she's strong and seems cold but when u get to know her she has empathy more than anyone else, I feel like this is the perfect character that luffy would fall in love with, pure kindness hiding behind a tough facade, she doesn't even like being called a hero, yet she is willing to do anything for those in need, slaves, poor villages, she goes against anything unjust without any fear, cause thats her purpose in life (sorry if that was too long 💀)
Hi anon <33 (it makes me so happy that someone finally addressed me as that💗)
today was a very chill day 😊 thank you! How’s yours?
Reader sounds so genuine with such a good background for a op character!!
(Don’t worry it’s not too long—I love to read:3)
Ngl luffy subconsciously sees a little bit of himself in you!!
like your hearts are so similar—gold!
of course he doesn’t directly think that way- but he feels the connection!
which is through helping!
you two never turn your backs on those who have never wronged you
its not even about if they’re on your side or not, as long as they haven’t wrong you? and they need help?
the both of you are on it 🤜🤛👍
you wanting to save others becomes admirable to more than just him, to all of the straw hats—chopper and usopp especially!
I’m gonna go ahead and say it here and now you remind both Jinbe and luffy of whitebeard and fishman island type thing
LIKE THAT’S HOW IT IS!!
Y/n is just her tbh 🤷♀️
and if the ops don’t like that? 🤨
🤜💥
how you like that? >:)
your strength may or may not be hereditary but either way if you don’t continue training or working out your gonna loose that strength eventually
which shows just how hard you train everyday!!
bro works harder than zoro 🗿
and we all know he don’t sleep on workin out
so y/n is a gorilla the og
its no wonder you be cookin the ops like breakfast👩🍳👍
this is literally turning into a rant about me being (name)’s biggest fan ok let’s move on
luffy saw you cold exterior and was like
😍😍😘🥰😘💍💋💋💋
LOLOLOL no but fr he looked straight past that
he always does- he ignored law’s and zoro’s why wouldn’t he with you-
and once he sees your true kindness???
Locked in like a booty hole 🔗
(ANYWAY I HAD TO🧍♀️)
yeah he pretty much busts right through that
he pretty much instantly demands you already are is nakama after that
Your empathy is what really swoops him off his feet tho
like luffy has a good sense of empathy so much so he can hear the voice of all things
and you probably can too! It’s highly likely!
(y/n could have her own anime at this point 🤷♀️😚)
But seriously the way he can just feel the way you long for others when they’re in pain just gets him right at the heartstrings you know?! 🥺❤️🩹
you comfort them so assuredly and keep your promise to win every time !!
luffy would admire himself more than he would know if he realized how alike the two of you are
tbh you probably admire luffy!!
like it’s a mutual thing, where you pretty much don’t see your own coolness you only see the other’s
so you admire each other unaware that your the same 😂💗
he absolutely adores and admires that empathetic part of you thoo!
he loves how your kind and tough
he wholeheartedly believes the strong should protect the weak, cuz that’s what a man does.
especially with nakama.
so he definitely understands your need to protect those who can’t do it for themselves
there are many times he can recall where he had to rely on others
so he loves that your the one who does that for people
and you don’t do it for the money or fame!
you don’t even view yourself as the hero and savior that bystanders see you as!
that’s so cool to him!
you background/past might’ve caused it! Like maybe you had no superhero! So you decided to become one!
he kinda looks up to you in a way 🤩
as someone who has also helped slaves and the poor he completely understands where you come from in your kindness
and it’s even cooler that you charge head on into battle for others without a second thought
that’s just how tough you are ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ
not an ounce of fear in your eyes as you walk up to someone 20x the size of you to simply get back the bread they stole from a poor little child
LIKE HOW COOL IS THAT?! 💥💥
your a super hero!! Dundun duh-duuuuuun!!
🦸♀️‼️🤩
you have a goal just like him!! He wants to be the king of pirates and you wanna help others!
With the type of pirate he is?, those things go hand in hand 🤝
”STRAW HAT LUFFY AND PIRATE HERO (NAME) IS HERE!! RUN AWAY!!”
says the pirates who know they’ve done wrong doing!! 😎
also excuse (name)’s lame pirate alias i couldn’t think of one 😊💖
(Name) is so cool 😎 I admire her 💓
hope you enjoyed your hcs anon!! *super heroes away🦸♀️🚀*

Okay something that i've noticed that really rubs me the wrong way is the infantilization of Odysseus. I only see this in the epic the musical tag, which i think says a lot. Even though epic is a loose adaptation of the odyssey, I think that homer's odysseus and epic's odysseus should be seen as seperate characters.
Epic's odysseus is definitely watered down, written so his character was easy to understand and consume by the audience to fit the story format (2h musical in this case). Even then, you should hold respect for this version as well due to the fact that he is based off of homer's odysseus, who holds an important place in greek mythology, history and culture.
Not everything Odysseus did has to be justifiable (eg. in Epic his revelation of identity to Polyphemus is written as an act of grief, when in The Odyssey it's hubris). He didn't do everything for the love of his wife. There were things that he DID do for her,, there are the things that can not be exactly morally justifiable or explained, but then again there are the things he did that are explained by the time period and societal views. Odysseus was a character that came to life in a completely different time period, remember that. As that was well over thousands of years ago, it looks like his motives are explained through a lens that modern audiences could understand: for example love, grief etc. That is not to say they weren't present, but they are not the main and only motives.
I think it has to do with the fact that odysseus is a hero - but today's views of what a hero is is different than the ones of the past. Kleos was a big thing, and as heroes were often those who toed the lined between divinity and humanity,, often was the case that it doesn't matter if you're objectively good as long as you're great. (Now we could start a discussion of what good exactly means but that's not what i'm here to talk about). Not to say that there weren't heroes who were not good! Perseus, for example, could be seen as good. But Odysseus not so much, which is why i think that watering him down to a story of going from kind to ruthless is a risky thing.
Odysseus is remembered for what he is presented as in the odyssey, and his struggles could resonate with people throughout the centuries. He was great, he did noble things but he also did bad things - which is why i think Epic's odysseus just takes away so much from homer's odysseus.
Tl;dr: keep Epic and Odyssey odysseus as two seperate characters, but still hold respect for the fact that Odysseus himself is important to the greek culture.
(I am not Greek or a professional on this subject, these are just some personal thoughts!)
#there is also the thing that odysseus was a king/nobility which is another topic in itself#you can find odysseus funny in some moments but do not use those to paint a completely different character#i think if you want to enjoy odysseus you have to enjoy the whole package: the good and the bad.#so if you take away the bad then it's just. not odysseus anymore. and then perhaps he's not the character for you.#niko rambles#these are not ALL the thoughts i have. but i think i got the point across

Brains AND Brawn
One of my favorite Batman baddies is Bane. I also feel like he's one that's hardly represented well on the screen. To me, his best version was in Batman: The Animated Series. He wasn't some intelligent character who needed Venom to become strong. He also wasn't some Hulk of a man who was an airhead. He was a buff genius who could figure out Bruce's identity while engaging in a serious fight with him before he even takes the first pump of the drugs. I haven't had the pleasure of reading his moments on the page, but it seems like some comics with him are that way too. Here come these beautiful lines:
"DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?! I am not a joke. I am not a riddle! I am not a bird or a cat or a penguin! I'm not a scarecrow or a plant or a puppet! I am not your broken friend! I am not your regretful teacher! I am not a child's fairy tale! I am not a circus act here to amuse and frighten you! I am not another of your madmen howling at the moon! And I... I am not... I am not some rich boy playing dress-up! I am BANE !"
I love everything about this quote. Not only is it insulting Batman and every other villain that the hero has gone up against, highlighting how Bane views himself as superior, but it also demonstrates how he truly knows his enemy. He doesn't just know that Batman fights Two-Face. He knows that Bruce Wayne fights his former friend, Harvey Dent. Bane is not a threat to take lightly. At this point, he moves to a new level of villainy since he knows so much about Bruce. I would love to see more media representing this combination of his traits.
Now, this isn't to say I dislike the other versions of Bane. Even though the one from Harley Quinn is definitely no genius, I find him very fun. Still, I love it when we take him seriously because this guy can be a truly terrifying foe. Let's not forget that he's the man who broke the bat.

My thoughts on Helluva Boss: APOLOGY TOUR and FULL MOON
Trigger warning to Stolas defenders, I guess.
I don't like the way the episode decided to make Blitzo the villain back to back. Stolas was such a hypocrite acting like he's done nothing wrong. "have you ever even apologized?" what a bold fucking thing to say after you banished him from your home when he attempted to do just that.
People keep getting something wrong about Stolitz, and that thing is..
THEY'RE NOT IN A RELATIONSHIP.
And they never were. Blitzo does not have to spend every waking moment with this man if he doesn't want to. Sure, Blitzo does have feelings for him, but he also understands that they are strictly on BUSINESS because of a CONTRACT.
I don't see yall calling Angel Valentino's ex. Because they're not in a relationship. Same goes here.
Blitzo was hired as a BODYGUARD in LooLoo Land. Not a fucking escort. A BODYGUARD. Stolas made it very clear what his job would entail and what does he do? Flirt with him the ENTIRE TIME on a trip that was meant for HIM and his DAUGHTER.
I refuse to believe Blitzo has this many exes. How does he have this many when he couldn't even hold a relationship with Stolas or Verosika? Viv just wants to make him look worse than he is because there should be NO REASON why his exes can fill up a room.
He couldn't even bring himself to think Stolas or ANYONE could love him, yet he has this many exes? Viv, please. That's bullshit. They were flings or one night stands at best and you know it. Or idk, attended because Verosika is idk...A POPSTAR????
We don't know jack shit about these people. They could've been the toxic ones all along. And Verosika's just validating their pathetic asses. (Not all of them, but some select few, or most.)
Verosika's party is NOT helping anyone. She's acting like she's some unsung hero. "you almost make me feel bad for hating you" you should feel bad. You put this on yourself. It is NOT that hard to GET OVER IT. Blitzo is NOT that fucking hot. You're a grown ass woman, a millionaire probably at that. There should be NO REASON you can't afford therapy or find someone new.
She's not making it any better for the party goers. She's not letting them MOVE ON. She's bringing back these painful memories for the sake of 'helping them'.
I swear if she just got the fuck over it they would too. She's the one bringing in all this hurt EVERY YEAR.
Like, okay, it might work the first time. But EVERY YEAR?? Hell no. Now you're just being petty.
Can we talk about this "better than blitzo guy" who just swoops on in?? Like no. No no no. Stolas doesn't just get to have a happy ending. He has problems and we need to focus on those before we give him a new "impish little plaything" to toy with.
Neither of them are over Blitzo and they'll NEVER be over Blitzo, clearly. So this relationship is NOT going to work. Again, Stolas DEFINITELY has his issues and needs to fix the way he views people below him before he even DARES to try dating one again.
Blitzo put everything before Stolas, like his daughter and employees. As he should. Stolas puts Blitzo before everything, and THAT'S why his ass got his heartbroken.
Blitzo didn't even say NO. He just didn't understand. He knows this idiot has a hard time with these things, and yet held it against him anyway. I don't care what pills he was or wasn't on. There's no excuse for his actions when he KNOWS he's in the wrong.
Blitzo has already been called out for everything in the show itself, so I won't bother with him. They're both in the wrong. I need Stolas' to get what's coming to him.

What if Konig accidentally scared the reader?
Like they were having small disagreement when he raised his hand to touch his face - and the reader flinched at that?
I can imagine him getting flashbacks to his father and how he used to treat his mother. He would feel so bad :(. Like, 'Does she think I'll hurt her? Is she scared of me? What if I do end up like my father?' And have a mini breakdown.
But from the reader's POV, she wasn't really "scared" of him. She just saw movements from the corner of her eye, and her body reacted for her.
Sorry not sorry for the angst ‼️🥰
I’m going to answer these two together because they kind of interlap!
CW: sexism, toxic König, light angst, a dash of fluff
Ooh this kind of behavior would remind him of his mother and only amp up König’s protectiveness for sure! I can’t stress it enough that the more his woman needs him, the better König feels about himself. It’s his life’s purpose to take care of his companion (so much so that this caretaking gains manipulative, stalkish and possessive elements...)
Truth be told, he would view this kind of behavior as you being helpless. And helpless creatures draw him in. König very much has a thing for helpless women. Actually, he thinks it's only natural for a woman to behave like that! His motivation to shield, guard and protect is founded on the need to make himself feel strong and capable (or masculine, if you want to put it that way).
You're scared? He will protect and console you, whatever it is. The more jumpy you are, the more it fires up his protectiveness. This guy wants to be the hero who saves your day. He will do anything in his power to drive your fears away.
You're clingy? Boy, you just gave a starving dog a fat bone! The more clingy you are, the happier König is. (Then he can pretend it’s you who needs him and not the other way around.) It soothes him when you're needy and desperate for him and his company. He will always be there for you, don’t worry ❤️
You forget things and stuff? König will go and fetch that shirt you forgot, even if it's miles away. He will say you should go and rest for a while if you spilled some water on the counter. In fact, he orders you to go and sit down while he cleans it up. He doesn't normally do house chores and cleaning but hey – his woman has clearly just exerted herself so of course he'll help.
And about arguments: during an argument König would be quite calm, actually? He would rarely even raise his voice with you. He's simply that sure of himself and of knowing what's "best for you". You can have your little fits and he might entertain you by giving you what you want if it's something insignificant, but otherwise, he knows he will have the last say if you disagree on something major.
The only thing that would make König lose it with you is probably the cheating scenario discussed earlier... He would be so broken, it would fuck him up so completely that there would be no redemption for him anymore. His violence might bleed into this relationship and manifest as emotional abuse, perhaps verbal abuse, too. He would go outside occasionally to let out some steam (wreck something) but even then, he would not touch you in anger.
If you flinched as an involuntary reaction to his touch during whatever argument you were having... yes he would have a minor breakdown. Flashbacks to his abusive father: definitely. König would apologize if he has been too rough with you. He knows his size and that he’s violent as fuck.
He sometimes wants to squeeze you a little too hard, gives you bitemarks when you two are having sex, he wants to hear those helpless sounds you make when he’s inside you... He wants to own, no, possess you. But he doesn’t want to see you hurt or scared (well, that's what he tells himself, even if you might suffer from his controlling behavior). There's a tug of war inside him: between the need to protect those few he cares about and the need to just annihilate the whole world that has made him suffer.
The last thing König wants is to become a replica of his father. That’s why women get treated differently, like they’re delicate flowers (because König is in fact scared of himself and that he might hurt them), and that’s why his woman will be protected and sheltered and taken care of. At all costs. She will never suffer the same abuse his mother did.
(Yes, König will only, um. Abuse you differently? Aaargh!)

I’m interested. How do Apollo and Artemis’s desire to protect each other drive a wedge between them?
I'm glad you askeddd. Thank you for being my first anon ever btw. (@crowmakeska-boom idk if you are the anon but anon, whoever you are, sorry for the wait). This is probably not a very good meta cause it's mostly vibes, gut feelings and filling in the blanks with below the bare minimum of textual evidence but oh well.
First I'd like to talk about why I think Artemis and Apollo's relationship is kind of distant. They're a confusing duo. When you first meet them in the titan's curse it may seem they don't like each other much or atleast Artemis seems to not be paticularly fond of her brother. Calling him “irresponsible”, “lazy”, “big headed”. But reading between the lines reveals how much the two of them care for each other, especially on Apollo's part from all the illegal help he was dishing out to the questers.
But then when you read some more, their relationship just feels a tad too distant to completely take what they say as just banter. When we see them on Delos in Blood of Olympus the distance is literal. They're recycling banter that's getting old and you can tell that even if it had been lighthearted before, it’s definitely getting on both their nerves now (stolen from fsinger lmao). They’ve both been playing the part for a long time but it feels like they don’t have the closeness anymore to recognize they’re both just playing parts.
So what happened?
I think it's their need to protect each other that's causing this rift between them. From my point of view Artemis & Apollo are protecting each other from different things but Olympus is at the core of it for the both of them.
The twins have a very different experience of Olympus. Since her introduction Artemis seems pretty critical of Olympus. According to the hunters she's the only one who can get the ball rolling during solstice meetings and she's shown to not really act the Olympian way. Taking the sky off the shoulders of a mortal girl. Shrinking herself down to make the human heroes feel more comfortable and demanding they get rewarded.
It wouldn't be far fetched to assume that she's never fit in with Olympus and doesn't agree with most of the views of her family.
Then there's Apollo.
Who fits in so perfectly with the messed up inner workings of Olympus or so people think. He's perfected his mask over the years and no one is the wiser about the abuse he's gone through or even the fact that this isn't actually who he is.
To me, Artemis wants to protect Apollo from Olympus' true nature. In her head she's got every part of Olympus figured out and for the most part she has. Even if it's not something that works for her I think she would want to protect her younger brother from knowing what the kind of people he surrounds himself with are truly like.
I feel like Artemis would be conflicted on it for other reasons too because if Apollo is aware of the kind of people the Olympians are and he's alright with that, what kind of god is Apollo?
So she'd much rather think of him as stupid and irresponsible cause those atleast mean that it isn't he isn't a bad person. But I feel deep down she doesn't really believe completely that what she knows of her brother is correct.
But then she sees the way Zeus loves Apollo and cares for him and in her mind it's the right decision to let him live this way. He is safer now than they ever were as children.
Apollo on the other hand wants to conceal their father's true nature from Artemis. We know that he cares deeply about appearing fine on the surface because of how others would worry and who would worry more than his older sister.
Artemis and Apollo may be the protectors of youth but the first ever youth they protected were each other. It's the foundation of their relationship and caries on into the present day. Both of them feel a desperate need to protect each other.
I would go so far as to say that this is THE relationship they have with each other. The both of them never find comfort in each other, only protection. You can tell that comfort is not something they usually derive from each other from the way they're both completely blindsided by simple things like an "I love you" , a hug and just concern in general.
Comfort from each other is not a priority for them no matter how much they crave it. The twins purpose to each other is to protect.
So of course Apollo would never tell Artemis about the way Zeus hurts him.
I also think there's a little bit of denial on Artemis' part on just how abusive Zeus is. Cause Apollo is dropping hints. Even the way Artemis talks during Blood of Olympus makes it clear that she understands Zeus is gonna massacre the guy. She just doesn't want to believe it will be permanent.
And it's got a lot to do with the fact that she wants to protect him. Because if she acknowledges this isn't a situation Apollo is gonna come out from unscathed that means that she's incapable of protecting him. That means that she's failed to protect him before and cannot protect him again.
So she'd much rather pretend that Zeus is persuadable and not that bad. That it's Apollo's fault Zeus comes down so hard on him and if he were a little better and a bit more like her he could be safe.
And this would hurt Apollo because Artemis can pinpoint exactly what Zeus is like. But instead of comforting him she confirms for him that this is his fault. That if he could be better none of this would happen. Artemis helps prevent but never helps heal because helping her brother heal means he was in a position to be hurt in the first place.
All this mess and miscommunication and disbelief stemming from the fact that they love each other and never want to see each other hurt creates an impossible distance between them.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Slowly but surely they're trying to comfort/ seek comfort instead of just protect each other.
I wept on my sister’s shoulder. I felt like if I let go of Artemis, I would fall back into Chaos. Huge parts of my identity would shake loose, and I would never be able to find all the puzzle pieces. “Whoa, there.” She patted my back awkwardly. “Okay, little fella. You’re all right now. You made it.”
Apollo's trials sucked. But I'm glad it's given the twins the opportunity to bridge the gap between their relationship again.
#trials of apollo#toa apollo#pjo apollo#pjo artemis#asks#thank you for reading#toa analysis#toa meta#tentatively#this has probably been reiterated a thousand times since the first book came out#oh well#longish#should add quotations when I'm freee#nice Argument how bout you back it up with a source🔪

The constant Shouto put downs wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact it feels like Shouto is being blamed for how Dabi was treated. Shouto can't be a hero because it's unfair on Dabi. Shouto can't get a power up because it's unfair on Dabi. Shouto can't be the only one who has ice and fire because it's unfair on Dabi. Right now it feels like Shouto is the one being punished for Endeavour's mistakes.
I'm not sure if you are talking about the narrative framing or fandom takes. Fandom takes you will never be able to control - there will always be people whose reading of the story triggers you - all you can do is to choose the spaces you interact with and the people you follow.
As for the narrative framing of the story:
The narrative doesn't blame Shouto for Touya's treatment. It puts the blame squarely on Endeavor and to a lesser extent on Rei. Touya's neglect started before Shouto was even born - in fact, his birth was to "discourage Touya". Yes, Shouto was born for all the wrong reasons, and his birth is clearly not a happy event in the family. He was born to break it, but he chooses to piece it together. That's his arc, his choice, his own affirmation of why he exists. Btw, I feel like Touya is not blaming Shouto for how he's treated. He's envious of Shouto and he blames him for throwing away so carelessly all the things Touya would have wanted for himself. There is a difference.
Shouto couldn't be a hero fully until he faced the turmoil inside himself (hence failing the provisional license exam), but he is definitely portrayed as the hero for the final arc (in fact already starting from the Endeavor internship arc and even earlier, like the Stain arc or Kamino - Shouto is usually on the right side of events, for the right reasons). More precisely in the endgame, he's embodying the theme of the hero who is there both for his family and the public.
I'm not sure why Shouto didn't get a power-up during the final arc. Maybe HK is viewing Phosphor as his power-up - even if it's not a quirk awakening but something he developed and worked on himself, it is clearly a power increase. In the PLF War, Shouto couldn't match Touya fire vs fire. Now he can: fire vs (fire-fuelled) ice. But it's also possible that he'll still get a power-up because saving his family was his "long way around" to the "path he's aiming for". There is plenty of foreshadowing that his endgame is to join his friends.
Like I said, I don't really view Touya having both ice and fire as something that takes away anything from Shouto. They could have the exact same power-set (although that doesn't appear to be the case) - the important thing is what you do with the power you have. That's the theme of the Todoroki family. We know what Shouto chose to do with his power, and I hope we will see at least some resolution with Touya too.
I agree that Shouto is suffering from Endeavor's mistakes - that's one of the points of the entire Todoroki family plot: the whole family suffers for Endeavor's sins. And even if he wishes to atone, he cannot fix anything - as those mistakes keep coming back to haunt them. Shouto's choice to pick up the pieces after Endeavor, to put himself in the path of Touya's wrath, to choose to face him is meant to be a pure and heroic choice contrasted with Endeavor once again not being there for his son. The narrative tries to balance these: the near catastrophic consequences of Endeavor's choice and the heroic save that Shouto gets for making the right choice. I personally think that we should still get a scene, where Endeavor fully steps up as a father and takes on the responsibility that comes with it, and for once in his life puts Touya above everything. This would also let Shouto be able to make a choice freely without having to worry about his family. I think that's the logical endpoint of the three arcs: Endeavor's atonement path to be a father, Touya getting the attention his inner child needs to heal, and Shouto's arc of emancipation and being able to decide who he wants to be.

how do you think Jesse's friends would react if they saw Jesse breaking down/sobbing (at least the ones that are still in Beacontown and didn't leave)
Hmm 🤔 Well first we have to discuss how Jesse would act. I do believe Jesse is an emotionally vulnerable person under all that tough muscle and heroic ego, and I really do think those bottled up feelings only got worse and worse as the games progressed and he experienced new trauma. He's definitely the kind of person to hide it, and I don't think he cries often, but when he does, that means it's been a really, really bad day for him. I really do think he would struggle to open up about his emotions while on the other hand doing his best to be there for others when they open up theirs. He's a good boy through and through 😔. To cry in front of someone would be extremely distressing for him, but it also comes down to who it really is.
I'll cover Axel, Olivia, Ivor, Petra, and then Lukas.
With Axel, I personally think he'd be kind of awkward about seeing Jesse finally break. I also think Jesse would do his absolute best to try and suppress the urge to cry in front of him. They've been friends forever, and Axel has more than likely seen Jesse cry before, but I imagine Jesse's view on the emotion would be twisted as a sign of weakness over the games timeline, and he'd reeeally have trouble showing that side of himself to Axel again now that he's the big hero and stuff. If it were to come down to it though, and Jesse can't hold back the tears, I think Axel is the kind of guy to swing his arm around Jesse and like, really do his best to try and cheer him up with jokes or with different forms of positive energy. I think Axel's motive would be more to get the tears to stop rather than to sit there and let it happen, y'know? He'd definitely try to think of ways to do it too, like offer to go somewhere or do something fun to get Jesse's mind off of things.
With Olivia, I think she'd be a lot more compassionate towards Jesse, but she's also the kind of person to sit there and try to find a solution to his problems. She's also the kind to want to stop the waterworks, but while hugging onto Jesse and patting his back and reassuring him she's there, and that they can find a way to fix this together (whatever problem it may be).
With Ivor, he's definitely the one to take the dad role. Sit by Jesse's side and soften his tone to be more on level with Jesse's compromised state of mind. Jesse would express his sorrows, and Ivor I think would listen closely, hear him out, and like Olivia, want to find a solution to his problems, all while reminding Jesse that with life comes the inevitable hardships of past mistakes. Ivor would know, of course, considering he's the one who technically started ALL of it with the Witherstorm. I think he'd use a lot of big words while talking to him and a lot of life lessons he has personally experienced so Jesse could probably find something to relate to from the talk.
Petra is kind of a tough one, and I feel like Jesse would really try to refrain from showing this level of emotions around her (you know like crying and stuff). We could see how well he held it together back when Petra was confessing her fear of losing her friends back in the Admin's cabin, but I feel like that was because he was taking the caring best friend role and wanted to stay calm and collected so he could be there to support Petra properly. Petra though, I feel like would really try to mirror it. As in she stays strong in the moment and supports and talks it out with Jesse in the best way she knows, but she is still far more awkward about it. Petra isn't very good with all the emoitional stuff, and we have seen that, so she would definitely struggle with her words and just kind of, idk maybe even UUGHH at herself because she doesn't know what to say or do but really wants to help Jesse stop crying. She's definitely a hugger, giving this man a big squeeze and promising things are going to be okay, just as they always have been, and maybe even entice Jesse with the idea of a little exploring or mining. Something to get things off the mind.
Now with Lukas 😏
I mean if you read my Recovery fic, you probably know how this is gonna go.
Lukas has always been vocally concerned for Jesse's well being, just as all of his friends have, but Lukas does it so much more and does it in a completely different way. His tone always softens, his words drawing out carefully because he knooows how Jesse gets when it all comes down to him. Jesse gets awkward and brushes most of his problems aside, but I really do think he's a lot more willing to talk about them with Lukas more than anyone else.
If Jesse were to finally break in front of Lukas, it's definitely a moment he's been cautiously anticipating. Lukas is definitely a hands on kind of comforter, similar to Olivia, but instead of trying to find a solution to Jesse's problems, or trying to get him to stop his tears, Lukas accepts and embraces them. He holds Jesse as close as possible, hugging onto him and rubbing his back in soothing circles. He lets Jesse sob into his shirt and clutch at the fabric. Whatever it is Jesse is saying, Lukas listens and doesn't interrupt. He lets Jesse get it aaaall out. Same with if Jesse decides not to say anything at all and just cries it all out until he can't anymore. He's patient with him, and when it's all over, then he'll grant Jesse the reassurance he deserves.
I feel like in all these situations, Jesse definitely tries to hide his face or chokes himself up on how much he's trying to suppress his tears. Lukas though will encourage him, and remind Jesse that crying is important and a healthy and integral part of the healing process. Once Jesse's done, and is at that mute state where he's cried himself speechless, Lukas will go out of his way to make sure Jesse is comfortable and he'll do something on his own terms to cheer the hero up. And at the end of it all, maybe when Jesse's in a cleaer headspace and has a cookie in hand and a warm blanket draped over his shoulders, then Lukas will talk to him about everything. 💙
EDIT: Adding Radar since I TOTALLY forgot 🙈
I feel like Radar would definitely be panicking a bit. Seeing his boss break down?? He's fanatically searching for something to say or do. I don't think he knows Jesse as well as the others do, so he's not as mentally equipped to tackle this scenario as the others, but he still does his very best, just as he always does, to comfort Jesse the best he can. Radar definitely the kind of guy to start speaking fast while he's in a panic, so he starts rambling on and on about how amazing he thinks Jesse is and how great a job he's doing, basically trying to soothe Jesse in the form of compliments which I'm sure does eventually get Jesse to stop and go silent and consider what Radar is saying. You know, like kind of hyping himself up like yeah... yeah!!! He does feel good about those things he does that Radar brought up, and it really helps steer his emotions in a better direction for the time being. Jesse would probably apologize to Radar for the whole thing, definitely embarrassed over it all, and Radar reassures him that it's all well and good, and that no matter what, he still thinks Jesse's the best there is : D

I often hear people call Gon selfish, but I highly doubt he is. Personally, I can see this side of him only vaguely, so I have mixed feelings about this.
Do you think that's true? And if so, does he realise it or does he act this way unconsciously?
I do think he is, to a certain degree! But it's also one of the attributes that make him special and unique as a character, and I definitely don't think it makes him a terrible person or anything. It's also situational, as he can also be incredibly kind and helpful as well, even to strangers where he doesn't have much to gain in return from helping them.
Going back to one of the things I bring up frequently, HxH often plays with shounen tropes, and Gon's character is partly a twist on a typical shounen hero, but with some of those typical attributes magnified until they also become flaws. Gon is tremendously single-minded, determined, and stubborn, to the point where at times it becomes self-destructive and/or goes against reason entirely. These attributes go hand-in-hand with his selfishness.
Just a few examples of him being selfish include:
His fight against Hanzo and how he insisted on getting his way no matter what, even when what he wanted was unreasonable
Deviating from the plan when fighting Genthru when it wasn't necessary (and could have screwed up everything potentially), but he did this just for his own pride and satisfaction in the fight, and got his hand blown off in the process
What he said about knowing he can get his way with Killua if he doesn't give in
I feel like the selfishness partly comes from his personality, and it partly comes from his age and maturity level as well. He's right at an age where it makes sense for him to mostly focus on himself and his own desires, and not always be able to consider and incorporate the feelings of others as easily as someone who is more mature. He has a certain naiveté to him that is charming, but his views of the world can be overly simplified and strongly conform to his own priorities, which is partly why he struggles badly when confronted with the complex reality in the situation with Pitou healing Komugi. I personally think he'll mature out of some of the selfish tendencies he has due to immaturity, but a lesser degree of it will probably continue to be an aspect of his personality, because it's part of what makes him who he is.
I think him being somewhat selfish makes sense with his background, too--he was barely around any other children through his childhood, and he spent a lot of time in nature/around animals instead, so his socialization wasn't exactly normal in that regard. He likely didn't have to share and compromise nearly as much as children raised around many of their peers. He was around adults of various sorts as they came and went from Whale Island (hence why he does have good social skills in the first place), but that's different than sustained friendship with and exposure to peers. He also does have Ging's genes, haha--while obviously Gon isn't exactly the same as Ging in multiple ways, think of the kind of life Ging leads.
I think his selfishness is mostly harmless and just a character quirk...under "normal" conditions. The problem is that as the series goes on, he ends up in progressively more and more abnormal situations (i.e. Chimera Ant Arc) that he's not emotionally prepared for or equipped to handle as a young teenager, so he deals with them how he deals with everything--by viewing the world through his own personal, self-centered lens (not meant as a judgment), and prioritizing his own goals and interests even if it means disregarding those around him. And in a morally complex, painful, terrible situation like that, that kind of outlook leads to tragic outcomes.
I think he has some awareness of it, after all it's something Killua and others in his life comment on at times. That said, because it comes from a combination of his personality and maturity level, it's not always under his conscious control. It's just part of his default state of existence.
So, yes, I do think he has aspects of selfishness to his personality, but he can often be a kind/helpful/considerate and even at times selfless boy as well (in too many ways to easily list), and I do think he'll grow out of some of the selfishness at least--but keep just enough for it to still be an aspect of his personality to a certain degree. I think what happened in Chimera Ant Arc is something he's going to learn from deeply, and his selfishness was a part of what stoked that whole situation, though there were certainly plenty of other factors involved so it's not fair to simplify it down to only that.

I always like to hear your thoughts on things, they're detailed and insightful. So I have a question that I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on.
In your personal opinion what do you think Teba and Revali's relationship would be like, and how do you think Teba would view Revali?
Thanks for the question anon! I definitely have my own thoughts regarding the relationship these two characters have.
First of, I want to emphasize that when I look at the kind of relationship Teba and Revali would have, I look at it in a more realistic sense. So I don't take fan pandering moments that can be found in games like Age of Calamity, nor am I considering what if humorous moments that include them.
I aim to look at this in the most realistic way possible when taking into account their personalities and values.
So saying all of that here are my thoughts:
When I look at Teba and Revali's relationship, and how Teba views Revali, I believe it would likely be quite complex, rooted in a mixture of admiration for his talents and disappointment in him as an individual.
On one hand, Teba would undoubtedly respect Revali as a formidable Rito warrior, his skills in battle, and his renowned prowess would definitely earn him admiration from Teba, who also takes his training seriously, and aims to be better with the bow, so he can match or surpass Revali. However, I believe this respect would be overshadowed by Teba’s disapproval of Revali's treatment of Link, his general arrogance, and his problematic personality.
I feel Teba’s perspective on Revali would be shaped by his own experiences and values. While he would acknowledge Revali's talents, I'm sure he would be disappointed to learn that Revali often belittles or dismisses Link, someone who's played a crucial role in protecting all of Hyrule, including his own home, not to mention someone who Teba respects greatly.
I feel Teba's admiration for someone who has both done many courageous acts while being humble, would clash with Revali’s cocky demeanour and self-centred attitude. Teba, being more humble and straightforward, would find it difficult to reconcile Revali’s arrogance with the more grounded values he holds. Teba's confident in his own skills but he's not arrogant, nor does he see himself as superior to others because of his talents.
Moreover, I feel Teba would likely struggle with the realization that Revali is not the person he initially thought he was. Or a better way to put it, never meet your heroes.
While Teba would see glimpses of the good within Revali, such as moments of kindness, his genuine love for his people, helping him save Tulin, and being amicable from those within his own tribe, these traits would not be enough to overshadow the negative aspects of Revali's personality, especially his disdainful attitude towards Link and his need for validation. Teba’s blunt nature and sincere respect for others would make it challenging for him to tolerate Revali’s pretentiousness, and I have no doubt Teba would call him out on it should it reach a breaking point.
I do wholeheartedly believe despite how much respect Teba would have for Revali because of talents and being a fellow Rito, he would still hold Link in higher regard. One part because he actually knows Link very personally, and secondly because of his humility.
In summary, Teba would view Revali as a talented warrior deserving of respect but ultimately fall short in terms of personal values and integrity. I feel Teba would grapple with his admiration for Revali’s skills while also feeling let down by his character and treatment of others, which would likely have Teba keep a fair distance from Revali, instead of someone who he would want to constantly associate with.
I am aware that people have portrayed Teba as someone who fanboys over Revali and everything he does, but in my honest opinion, that doesn't really feel in character for someone like Teba. He'd definitely respect his talents, but I highly doubt he'd be fawning over him.

So I had the idea that all of the JSE Egos get possessed by Anti at some point- but all of their possessions look and work completely differently in comparison to each other because rather it being based on what's possessing them- Anti is utilizing what they perceive as their own worst traits/the image they have of themselves (in an extremely /neg way).
It's worth mentioning that it doesn't necessarily mean that these perceptions are true or not- the only thing that necessarily matters is that the Egos themselves think that it's true.
I'm going to go through each ego, describe what their possessions are like and go into detail as to why they're like that.
Buckle in dudes this is gonna be a long one
Chase Brody:
Chase to me has the most unstable variation of the possessions. His plays on the fact that they're constantly questioning their reality and feeling like a danger to not just himself but to those around him. Right now it's unclear if Chase has been experiencing alcoholism or his unstable view of reality before Anti but I do think Chase's entire life has been nothing short of turbulent it's a constant crashing rollercoaster, with the carriages shaking uneasily and sparks flying everywhere and the only thing he's able to do is hold onto the ride and hopes he gets to the end of it unscathed. Chase's possess has ALL of this on full display- it's the closest thing to the original Anti and it's far from pretty.
Visually I think the closest thing to Chases possession is Jinx's Hallucinations in Arcane. They're made up of the faces of his lost family mocking and taunting him while everyone else can only see Chase as an extremely unstable individual with unnatural eyes
[This shot in particular with the glowing eyes is what I imagine P!Chase to be like]
Marvin The Magnificent:
Now I've already briefly shown how I imagine Marvin's possession- and if I'm being honest it's my favourite one!! Marvin would by far be the hardest Ego to possess out of all of them, he's the only one with actual knowledge on Anti and the only one with the power to fight back against him. With that I think that Anti would only be able to possess Marvin with the help of IRIS- be honest, IRIS would JUMP at the opportunity to see what effects Anti could have on an individual with magic the way Marvin does. However, Marvin's biggest flaw is definitely his arrogance and his isolation. His "trust nobody" mindset has left him cold and uncaring to others and in my opinion this is something that he doesn't do because he enjoys it- something about Marvin screams that he wants to be able to connect with others but can't at every turn and that's what is portrayed in their possession. They're cold, robotic and uncaring. Their magic has been locked away deep in their subconscious because Anti knows it's too risky to let them utilise it. They've been forced into a state that's far removed from who Marvin really is. In a way it would make sense with how much of Marvin's memories have been tampered with for god knows how long- at a certain point there's only so much of yourself you can lose before you become unrecognisable to yourself.
The inspiration for P!Marvin is Chipped Catra from She-Ra Princess of Power
JackieBoy Man:
Jackie was by far the hardest to come up with- mostly because I couldn't come up with something that narratively would make sense. But I came to the conclusion that Jackie's worst perception of himself would come from the idea that he's not a true hero and only hurts the people around him, that he's a danger or a monster. That his powers make him a threat rather than a saviour. I personally think this would be a lot more effective if Jackie was possessed after an experience that left him doubting his role as a hero- maybe he couldn't save someone or someone he was trying to save and ended up dying instead. His grief and self loathing would come together into being possessed into being a weapon.
P!Jackie is nothing short of a weapon made for destruction- something that was designed to destroy. Part of the horror would be for him to wake up from his possession, only to realise that the ones he cares about the most and the only people he has left are now afraid of him and wants nothing to do with him.
The idea for P!Jackie is Infected She-Ra from She-Ra Princess of Power
Henrik Von Schneeplestien:
Henrik was another one that took me a while to figure out but I did eventually get to it!! Henrik would come from his insecurities as a doctor, the weight of people's lives being on his shoulders day in and out would wear him down over time and the idea that he could be at fault for the deaths of many whether he could've actually saved them or not plays in his brain so much its unbearable. Henrik's possession would take form as moss- or a general depiction of something rotting, a walking contamination that he can't heal or fix and he knows he's the route problem and to keep everyone else safe he'd need to remove himself from the equation. For the most part I don't think he'd be aware of how far his corruption goes, at first he'd write it off as being unwell, overworked maybe, but he has seen the others get possessed and harmed by their own possessions and he would never let himself succumb to that. Doctors do make the worst patients after all.
The inspiration for this has came from The Corruption in The Magnus Archives and Belos from The Owl House
Jameson Jackson:
JJ's possession is the one I'm most proud of and it's the one that's the most loyal to his debut in 2017. However the way I perceive JJs possession is that he is almost the exact same. But it's not him. He's fully conscious and aware of everything around him but he's trapped in his own skin with movements that are not his own. He's forced to watch and able to do nothing when those around him drop dead by his own hand. And the worst part about all of it is that Anti is clever enough to make him continue his daily routine, to carry on as normal. To let JJ see those closest to him not notice that something is deeply and horrifyingly wrong, that the person they're interacting with and bonding with isn't who they think they are. And no one notices. And there's nothing he's able to do about it. It's a play on his fear of no one really seeing him for who is is, no one notices something's wrong because they didn't know him to begin with. The entire experience makes him think about how much he actually spent time with these people. How much of him do they actually see and how much of Anti has painted over that.
If anything I might tweak Chase or Jackie's possessions slightly because they are extremely similar to each other??? BUT part of me wants to keep the similarities between them a constant thing because I personally see them as being two sides of the same coin
JJs possession was inspired by The Stranger and The Web from The Magnus Archives
